Description of the Hatsan BT 65 RB Elite air rifle:

The Hatsan BT 65 RB Elite air rifle is a popular model of powerful pneumatics from the famous Turkish brand. Hatsan produces air guns, hunting and military weapons that are in demand both domestically and abroad. In Russia, the products of this manufacturer are popular due to the excellent quality and competitive pricing policy of the brand.

The Hatsan BT 65 RB Elite is a pre-charged pneumatic (PCP). The container with compressed air is located below the barrel; cocking the firing pin and sending the bullet into the barrel is done by turning the side rear lever. The energy source in this rifle is a high-pressure cylinder, which gives the bullet an initial speed of 380 m/s.

The magazine capacity of the Hatsan BT 65 RB Elite is 10 4.5 mm lead bullets. Protection is provided against loading a second bullet if the first is still in the barrel. For quick reloading, two spare magazines are attached to the lower part of the forend. The presence of outer rubber rings reduces the shooter's effort required to feed a bullet into the barrel, and also prevents ammunition from falling out.

The capacity of the compressed air cylinder is 255 cubic meters. see, the default firing mode for this weapon allows you to fire up to 80 shots. The rifle barrel, 580 mm long, is made of good weapon steel.

The body of this model is made of high-quality plastic, the pistol-type handle has a comfortable cutout for the thumb, which allows you to shoot with both hands. Through the use of adjustable cheeks and butt plate, each user will be able to adjust the rifle to their anatomical features, thereby increasing the accuracy and comfort of shooting.

The sights of the Hatsan BT 65 RB Elite rifle are adjustable front and rear sights. When shooting, it is possible to use an additional sight (optical or collimator), as well as a flashlight or laser pointer - a combo rail is installed in the upper part of the rifle. This model comes with an Optima 3-12×44 AOE optical sight.

The Hatsan BT 65 RB Elite air rifle has an elegant appearance, looks impressive and expensive. The body of the weapon is made of impact-resistant polymer, easy to maintain and durable in use. For such a powerful rifle, its weight and dimensions are small - 4230 g and 1080 mm, respectively.

The high power of this weapon makes it possible to use it widely, but it is important to strictly follow safety precautions. The model is perfect for hunting game birds, as well as for amateur shooting.

Design

The Hatsan BT65 rifle has a protective mechanism against loading the next cartridge while the first is located in the barrel. Unlike combat rifles, firing two pneumatic bullets does not rupture or inflate the barrel, but will necessarily require disassembly and installation of new seals.

Convenience of shooting and aiming is ensured by a two-stage trigger and the ability to individually adjust it to the user’s needs.

The buttstock is equipped with an adjustable cheekpiece, which allows you to switch to a different line of sight when changing the optical sight. The Hatsan BT65 uses a special design that increases the recharge speed. It consists of fastening spare drums (magazines) from the bottom of the forend. The magazines have an external silicone ring that prevents cartridges from falling out and reduces the force when feeding a bullet into the barrel.

A capacious cylinder (250 cm3) with the factory-set firing mode is enough for 75-85 shots; when set to maximum power, this figure is halved.

Reviews from owners indicate the ability of the Hatsan BT65 to pierce a wooden block 4 cm thick from a distance of 12-15 m. The high power of the shot allows it to be guaranteed to hit small animals and birds. Therefore, this rifle is often used for hunting purposes.

The rifle is not used in sport shooting (low accuracy). When shooting at bottles on vacation (plinking), you only need to hit some part of the target in order to visually determine the hit.

Installing a sound moderator on a rifle is definitely recommended, since a loud shot attracts the attention of others. The silencer for this gun is made in the form of a tubular structure and is screwed onto the barrel. Before screwing, you need to remove the protective cap, which is located near the front sight.

A convenient feature is that you do not need to remove the sight before installing the silencer. The length of the thread that remains near the front sight is enough to secure it firmly. When attaching the sound moderator, you need to take into account that when firing a bullet weighing 1 gram, its speed will be approximately 280 m/sec.

Design of Hatsan BT65:

  1. A rifle with pre-priming, a sliding-type bolt and a drum for 10 bullets.
  2. Ergonomic design allows you to shoot with both hands.
  3. Rifled barrel with sound moderator and protective plug.
  4. 3 Picatinny rails.
  5. Compartments for storing spare drums.
  6. Corrugation on the butt.
  7. Rubberized forend.
  8. Adjustable stock.
  9. Removable cylinder for air injection. Replaceable containers can be installed.
  10. Installed barometer to determine the pressure in the cylinder.
  11. Possibility of installing optics.
  12. Double bullet protection.
  13. Manual safety lever.
  14. Adjustable aiming bars.
  15. Patented shockproof system that prevents loss of gas when falling.
  16. Gold plated guard and trigger.

Modifications

Hatsan BT65 is the best solution for people who need a powerful air rifle. This is just one example from a large line. There are modifications: Hatsan BT65RB Wood (with a wooden stock and rear cocking), Hatsan BT65RB (with rear cocking), Hatsan BT65SB (with side cocking).

The Hatsan BT65 shotgun has a long barrel, but an even larger bypass and a pneumatic cylinder. That is, this model is significantly superior to the previous best-seller of the Hatsan company - the Hatsan AT 44-10 rifle. Heavier bullets are needed. BT65 belongs to the “magnum” category, but no permits are required for purchase, despite its high power.

What is included

The Hatsan BT65 rifle can have an expanded configuration, unlike some other models. The kit includes:

  • underbarrel flashlight;
  • 2 spare magazines (drums);
  • bipod;
  • optical sight;
  • plastic case;
  • carrying belt;
  • repair kit;
  • user manual.

In the markets you can sometimes buy a more budget version of a gun without a plastic case and belt (cheaper for 2-4 thousand rubles).

Possibilities for increasing power

Probably the simplest option for increasing the initial flight speed of the Hatsan BT65 bullet would be to install a different air valve needle.

In Russian stores, to comply with the law, all pre-pumped rifles sold without a license or permit are equipped with a needle that reduces the amount of air that escapes through the valve, thus reducing firing power. But, the “original” needle is most often found in the package with a new pneumatic and, if desired, a thinner one can be installed instead. Another way is to remove excess metal from the factory needle. For other rifles in this Hatsan model range, the procedure can be performed in a similar way.

There is another method that allows you to increase power even with the “original” needle still present. You can adjust the force of the air valve spring, which controls the opening speed of the needle.

The principle is not complicated. The spring needs to be loosened - the needle will be in the open position longer. The optimal number of turns of the adjusting bolt counterclockwise is determined by personal preference.

As a rule, this is 4-6 revolutions with normal conservation of pumped air costs. Excessive attenuation will result in unnecessary gas consumption and high spread during firing. It is best to adjust the power in this way on the bullets that are most often used. Since other cartridges may require a different power setting.

An increase in muzzle energy of more than 7.5 Joules is considered illegal on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Description of the air rifle Hatsan BT 65 RB Elit RSR

PCP rifle with an Optima 3-12X44 optical sight, firing 4.5 mm bullets with a muzzle velocity of 380 m/s .
However, to comply with the current legislation of the Russian Federation, the product is supplied with reduced energy as standard. The scope of delivery of the rifle is very wide, it includes a case, a bleed kit, a fitting for filling a high-pressure receiver, a belt, a pair of drums for 10 bullets each , a set of seals and several brochures.

The stock in the Hatsan BT 65 RB Elite PCP rifle is made of plastic and equipped with soft rubber inserts. The handle in this model is pistol-type, it is more convenient to use. The stock can be adjusted to accommodate shooters of different sizes thanks to the reach-adjustable buttplate and height-adjustable cheek pad. The softening element on the butt plate is designed to dampen vibrations and recoil, thereby increasing shooting accuracy.

The rifle is equipped with a long rifled barrel, so the Hatsan BT 65 RB Elite is well suited for hunting. Although the model does not shoot very loudly, it is still better to put a silencer on its front part; for this purpose, the PSP Rifle Khatsan BT 65 RB Elite has a thread on the front part of the barrel.

Under the barrel there is a high-pressure receiver with a built-in pressure gauge. The working pressure of the rifle is up to 250-260 Atm, for ease of monitoring the pressure, a pressure gauge is installed on the front of the receiver.

, the Optima 3-12X44 optical sight is included in the package ; it will allow you to shoot at a distance of 110-120 m. Optical The sight is mounted on the Weaver rail on the top of the receiver. When using a front sight and an aiming bar, this distance is reduced by approximately 2 times.

To refuel the rifle, a Hatsan high-pressure pump is used; it is equipped with a built-in dryer and can be purchased separately. Fully filling the receiver when strengthening the rifle, with the hammer screw screwed to the maximum position, is enough for about 70 shots .

This model is in the middle price range among its class, but it is a very powerful representative, more powerful than some more expensive rifles.

The safety in the Khatsan 65 RB Elite rifle goes to the rear left side of the bolt and has two working positions: safe and combat. Because The safety in this model is automatic, so with each charge it moves to a safe position and prevents accidental pressing of the trigger.

In front of the trigger guard with a gold-plated trigger there are two latches for 10-round drums, they allow you to increase the rate of fire due to faster reloading of magazines.

Disassembling the Hatsan air rifle Hatsan BT65

The main disassembly steps are as follows:

  • remove the transport strap and remove the optics;
  • Unscrew the bolts located at the bottom of the stock;
  • remove the stock and unscrew the air injection cylinder. It is best to put a special protection cap on the threaded edge; it protects the valve;
  • Using hexagons, unscrew the fastenings on the box, then you can remove the barrel.

During the process of disassembly and reassembly, which is done in the reverse order, you need to carefully monitor the safety of the chamfers on the heads of the bolts and hexagons. The quality of the metal used to make them is quite poor. It is best to choose high-quality hexagons purchased separately, and replace the bolts with others after disassembly.

The only product that can be safely used when lubricating a gun is silicone oil. Other weapons-grade compounds can lead to failure of rubber seals. When processing gaskets on a cylinder, oil must be added evenly and generously.

What to choose: Hatsan 44 or Hatsan BT65

I think that among fans of air guns there is hardly a person who has never heard of or encountered Turkish PCP Hatsan rifles. I will not describe their advantages and disadvantages; we have already talked about this enough in previous publications. In this article I want to compare two ranges of PCP rifles: Hatsan 44 and Hatsan BT65. There are many modifications, let’s not waste time discussing each one, let’s take the two most interesting and popular Hatsan 44-10 and Hatsan BT65 RB. Here they are, let's move on to the comparison:

1. Appearance, size, ease of use

44-10 is 8 cm smaller than BT65. This is really a lot. If the 44-10 can still be called a compact rifle, then the BT65 is quite a full-size one. It is definitely not suitable for auto hunting, unless, of course, you are going to shoot from it while standing in the back of a pickup truck. The increase in size could not but affect the weight. If the complaint about the 44-10 was that it was a “heavy paddle,” then add another 800 grams to the BT6 and you get a “very big, very heavy paddle.” And if you add the weight of the optical sight with rings, bipod and moder, then you can estimate a weight of 6 kg! This is really a lot.

The BT65 stock has become much more comfortable. Rubber inserts, an adjustable cheek piece, a bipod bar, swivels - all this adds to the comfort. If you are lucky enough to find a BT65 with an Elite stock on sale, you will receive two additional body kit bars and special places for spare drums as a bonus.

The cocking bolt is massive and feels nice and solid in the hand. It cannot be compared with the rattling “biathlon” lever on 44-10. I also remember that I was terribly annoyed by the safety on the 44-10, which must be pressed before each shot. The problem is not even the fact that there is a fuse, but that it is somehow uninformative and it is not immediately clear whether it is pressed or not. In the BT65 the fuse moved to the left side of the receiver. Everything is clear: the classic Fire/Safe switch.

Another positive point that cannot be ignored is the refueling port. At 44-10, you screwed the tank in and the filling port stood at an arbitrary angle relative to the barrel. I had to twist the rifle in every possible way to get to the port with a fairly rigid and short filling hose. In BT65, the filling port is rotatable and this is very convenient. Carefully place the rifle, turn the port where you want it and calmly refuel it. Very good.

The pressure gauge on the BT65 has become more informative. It is divided into colored zones, normal markings have appeared. I liked it better than the old black and white one.

2. Shooting, power, accuracy

The BT65 reservoir is larger in volume, and noticeably larger: 255 cubes versus 180. But don’t expect an increase in the number of shots, the increase in volume is made to increase power. An even greater overconsumption gives a noticeable increase in power. The Hatsan BT65 is really more powerful than the 44-10 by about 20-30%. At the same time, on both rifles you get about 30 full shots from a fill-up.

On the other hand, such a high power in the BT65 can even be considered harmful: in caliber 4.5 it is very easy to exceed the speed of sound, the bullets are poorly stabilized in flight and begin to fly apart in all directions. Accordingly, the owner of the rifle is faced with the task not of accelerating, but, on the contrary, of strangling the rifle. In our opinion, the optimal caliber for the BT65 is 5.5 mm. You can accelerate heavy bullets to the coveted 300 m/s, finally the JSB Exact Monster and other bullets up to 2 grams flew normally.

But what does power mean without precision? Very often in conversations about hatsans the words “bucket breaker” are mentioned, some jokes about cast iron bathtubs. You can argue as much as you like, but in 44-10 on calibers 4.5 and 5.5 barrels are not of the best quality. They are more than enough for hunting carts and shooting at banks at 50 meters, but the barrels are clearly not suitable for paperwork. The BT65 is doing much better; the barrels, of course, are not premium, but very decent. Here you can already argue who is to blame for the miss: the crooked barrel or the shooter’s hands.

3. Tuning, modding, alterations

Actually, here everyone has their own vision and there cannot be a consensus. I would include the rear plug as one of the recommended modifications. Although it has undergone some changes for the BT65, it has not solved the problem of tank ringing and excessive air consumption.

The second point is the moderator. As before, for fans of integrated moderators, the small distance between the barrel and the tank remains a problem, but now moderators with an eccentric (the hole is shifted from the center to the edge) have begun to appear on sale. There are also enough regular mods, but remember about the huge air consumption on the BT65. Not every mod will be able to deal with it effectively.

Conversion to bullpup. In my opinion, converting the BT65 into a bun is pointless. Firstly, it’s a shame to cut the stock - it’s really good. Secondly, even if you cut the stock, you get a very long bun with a bolt action right under the ear. In terms of modifications, the Hatsan 44-10 is much more attractive. Now you can find very nice FX Airgun style cocking handles for sale; a bullpup with such a cocking handle becomes much more convenient than with a bolt. Let’s add a transfer of the trigger, a bridge under the optics and we’ll get a very interesting gun, a real alternative to the rat bun from the Crosman 1377.

conclusions

Friendship won.:) The rifles are completely different, for different purposes and tasks.

The Hatsan BT65 is good in large calibers, it is a large, powerful weapon suitable for serious hunting or sniping. Re-barreling or purchasing a rifle in a large caliber is a personal responsibility, but in my opinion this rifle excels in 5.5 caliber and above.

On the contrary, the Hatsan 44-10 feels great when shooting heavy bullets in 4.5 caliber. It can be tuned perfectly, fortunately there are many interesting offers for this on the market now. With a relatively small investment of money and time, the 44-10 can be made into a very decent bullpup.
