With all the variety of pneumatic weapons presented on the Russian market, deciding on the most successful model is quite difficult. It is necessary to clearly understand for what purpose the barrel is purchased, and under what conditions it will have to be used.
Today, the MP-651 pneumatic pistol or its modifications: MP-651K and MP-651KS act as a universal weapon for hardball.
The model has gained popularity, first of all, due to the fact that it is a fairly budget option, and affordable cost, as you know, often acts as a determining factor when choosing a weapon. But it was not only the price that attracted the pistol to its consumers, it turned out to be quite simple and reliable.
Looking ahead, we note that such indicators as accuracy and accuracy of shooting have earned recognition among amateurs and professionals. But the MP-651 is also an excellent training tool for those who have just begun to comprehend the mysteries of weapon craftsmanship.
Review of the air pistol MP-651-07 KS
Izhmekh Baikal MR-651-07KS is only a small modification of the basic model MR-651 KS. This is a very successful model of air gun, which is very popular and loved by many users. It can be loaded with both metal balls and lead bullets, which was made possible due to an interesting ammunition supply scheme. The magazine, familiar to many pistols, was replaced with a drum and a ball feeder at the top. Thanks to this solution, the pistol grip is very comfortable and fits well in the hand, and due to the freed up space, the pistol can be charged with both 8 and 12 gram CO2 cartridges.
The body is made of impact-resistant plastic, which does not spoil the impression of both the pistol and the rifle. The frame of the pistol grip, in which the valve and trigger are located, is made of aluminum. The rear sight is height adjustable, but the front sight is not adjustable.
It is also worth highlighting the rather long rifled barrel, which in the MP-651-07 version, however, was not lengthened, but had only a prop. This weapon does not have a combat prototype, but if you buy pneumatic guns to shoot and not admire them, then this will not be a big problem.
It is worth noting that the butt and fore-end only change the appearance, but do not change the parameters at all. In order for this modification to be useful, you need to lengthen the barrel yourself.
Advantages and disadvantages
The advantages of the MP-651-07 KS air pistol, which are described by the owners of the model:
- Ability to shoot lead bullets and metal balls;
- The energy source can be an 8 or 12 gram cartridge, which will allow you to choose the best option based on exactly how much you want to shoot;
- The impact-resistant plastic body makes the large pistol quite lightweight. It is also worth noting that good plastic is much better than a bad metal alloy;
- The buttstock can be adjusted in length, which will allow you to customize the weapon for any user;
- The long rifled barrel ensures excellent shooting accuracy;
- The pistol has a fairly simple and reliable design, which is easy to repair and maintain;
- The sighting device can be adjusted in height;
- Although the ball pusher spoils the appearance, you will always know how many balls you have left;
- Due to the modular design, you can attach a stock and forearm to the pistol to turn the pistol into a rifle. However, without an extended barrel, this will only double the weight.
There are also disadvantages:
- When purchasing, you should pay attention to the drum, as there are instances where it is not inserted tightly, which leads to a significant loss of gas;
- There is no blowback system, and the bolt carrier is fixed;
- The appearance is slightly spoiled by the ball pusher, which is located in a prominent place.

Purpose
Due to its high accuracy and power, this pistol is perfect for those who like to shoot outdoors. And due to its simple design, even beginners can easily handle the pistol.
Design Features
The MP-651K model has some design features that are not characteristic of other models. The first thing that amateurs note is the ability to use different projectiles. To adapt the gun to use a new type of charge, it is necessary to replace the drum. The pistol can change its appearance, transforming beyond recognition. By attaching the stock and fore-end, as well as using a special “submachine gun” attachment, Baikal turns into a carbine with an imitated barrel.
The sighting device consists of a front sight and a rear sight adjustable in one plane. The fact that many parts are made of plastic has a positive effect on the ease of use of the pistol. High-quality plastic easily withstands the entire load, while the gun remains maneuverable.
The bullets in the magazine are pressed by a spring, so they are gradually fed into the drum. In cases where it is necessary to obtain increased penetration qualities, it is recommended to use spherical bullets. When conducting aimed shooting, lead cartridges are used.

Positive and negative feedback
The very fact that the MP-651 pistol has become widespread indicates the presence of many advantages. Every user can notice these qualities. Therefore, it is not difficult to read about the pros and cons in the comments left by owners on thematic sites.
- Let's start with the fact that the buyer is attracted by the price. The average cost of a pistol varies from 3,000 to 4,000 rubles.
- The rifled barrel performs its function. The bullet accelerates and acquires a certain angular velocity. Due to this, the accuracy of the shot increases.
- The brutal appearance captivates those who purchase weapons simply to improve their status.
- The category of people who actually use the pistol for its intended purpose note its lightweight but impact-resistant body as a clear advantage of the model.
The above-barrel magazine not only brought certain convenience to using the pistol, but also caused a significant drawback. An open spring is susceptible to dirt and dust. After a short period of use, it begins to jam.
The next drawback noted by users is related to the limited movement of the rear sight. This allows it to be adjusted in only one direction. Replacing the canister involves disassembling the pistol handle. There are certain difficulties when performing these manipulations.
Device
The design of this pistol is quite simple. It consists of a body and a pistol grip. Inside you will find a pressure screw for the cylinder and a valve device, the bore of which is in line with the barrel, and the drum is inserted between them. The ball feeder has a similar design to a conventional pistol magazine. It consists of a pusher and a spring, and balls are simply inserted into the channel from above.
The trigger is represented by a trigger, a sear, a lever for scrolling the drum and a trigger. The safety is located on the trigger itself and simply blocks its pressing. This is a fairly simple and common design.
The buttstock is worn instead of the pistol grip. It attaches exactly the same way. The forend is simply put on the barrel and secured to the trigger guard.
Operating principle
This pistol fires both self-cocking and pre-cocking. In the first case, you just need to insert the cylinder, load the drum with lead bullets or fill the drive with balls, and then just pull the trigger. At the same time, the hammer is cocked and the drum rotates. When the extreme position is reached, the channel of the drum with ammunition is combined with the channel of the barrel and valve device. After this, the trigger opens the valve and a portion of gas is released for firing.
To replace the drum, you need to move forward the flags that are located on both sides of the gun. Since this is one piece, it is better to use both at once to avoid breaking anything.
Disassembly
The process of disassembling the MP-651-07 KS pistol:
- The first step is to remove the balls from the storage unit, if they have been charged.
- Remove the drum by sliding the flags forward.
- On the bottom back of the pistol grip, unscrew the screw that holds the pad. The butt is fixed in exactly the same way.
- To remove the forend, you simply need to slide it forward. Don't forget about the retainer that secures it to the trigger guard.
- Now unscrew the clamping screw on the pistol grip and remove the cylinder. Make sure the hammer is not cocked.
- On the right side, unscrew the two screws that are located immediately above the pistol grip and remove the side plate.
- Under the barrel, unscrew the screw that holds the front part, and then simply remove it.
- To remove the barrel, simply unscrew it from the receiver;
- There is no particular point in disassembling the trigger, but the valve can be taken out quite easily, since it is held in place by just one pin. We just knock him out. There are only two of them in the rear and we need the one closer to the front, since the second one holds the trigger.
Upgrade
This pistol turned out to be very successful with high performance. It is enough just to change the rubber seals on time. Also, when purchasing, it is important to pay attention to the tightness of the drum installation, since gas will escape through the gap.
Of course, some users do some tuning to increase power, such as drilling out the bypass, valve bore, and outlet port, and loosening the valve spring. The result will be an increase of only 20 m/s, but gas consumption will increase significantly, and power will also drop due to excess pressure at the barrel exit. As a result, the benefit of such a modification is extremely doubtful. It is easier to buy a pistol with initially higher power.
From what actually works, we can note the elongated barrel. It is not included in the package and you will have to make it yourself in one piece or make an attachment. The second option will be better, since the removable option will allow you to turn the rifle into a pistol with a slight movement.
Tuning
The Baikal pistol provides a huge field of activity for tuning enthusiasts. It should be noted that not all basic indicators suit new owners, so they are forced to subject the weapon to improvements. Tuning is a legal modification of the barrel, leading to an increase in some parameters, but the modernization should not transfer the weapon to another class. Otherwise, all repair work performed will be considered illegal.
For example, increasing power by replacing parts of gas fittings is permissible if the muzzle energy remains within 7.5 J.
It is simply impossible to list all the tuning work. The most popular conversion is the conversion of a pistol into a Junker rifle, which in its appearance resembles a Kalashnikov assault rifle. In this case, additional attachments do not need to be invented or manufactured. All tuning parts are available for free sale. They can be purchased either at a gun store or ordered online.
Some forums provide entire instructions on how to modify a pistol. They involve making design changes, in particular, changing the diameter of the barrel, changing the diameter of the bypass valve, and replacing the spring. The difficulty is that the performance characteristics of the new pistol will not correspond to those indicated in the certificate. Any examination will recognize the owner’s actions as legal, but this will require the pistol to be submitted for examination.
