Comrade hunters, let me ask for an authoritative opinion. I'm faced with the choice of TIKKA T3 Hunter or ORSIS Hunter M? Both in 308 for running hunting mainly. Knowing that tikkas are not imported under sanctions, there is an option to buy a new one from someone else. The price of the guns does not matter. Tikka is a proven option, 300-400 grams lighter than ORSIS, shoots at 100 meters arc minute and is 101 cm long. Orsis is correspondingly heavier, about 113 cm long, but shoots at 0.5 MOA with a 3-year factory guarantee for this result. The tikka also has a minus - the barrel is black, the orsis is stainless steel. Please speak up. The declared high accuracy of the Orsis is beyond doubt; I consider this as the main argument in its favor.
This will not be the first gun, I’ve been actively using the Tiger for about 15 years now and have an SKS. I want a bolt.
Damn, here you need to call vjrecj, he is a specialist in this. Too difficult a task)
The Hansa is a complete mess, there are too many trolls, you can’t understand anything)
Article on the topic: Jaguar xe owner reviews 2017
The tikka can be hidden in the trunk of an ATV, the Orsis will not fit, yet the tikka in the final version will be 20 rubles cheaper. There is no difference in cartridges, you can shoot with any, for a good result only import.
And I have had it for almost 7 years. Not a single wedge. But I followed the instructions: after assembly, I processed it with a file.
And what's there? Listen to Paganel, who is a plug in every branch and is all freaks? Fuck it. He may be a literate person, but that doesn’t give him the right to talk to people like that. I have a friend who is much more literate than Paganel. In terms of shooting experience. And he never allows himself to talk to anyone like that.

Not in any way. I still have to study and study. Very, very much. And my certain knowledge is not my merit. I was just very lucky with my consultant. A freaking competent shooter.
IMHO - ORSIS. There are three reasons for this: 1. Really high shooting accuracy. 2. As a result, hunting is very effective. 3. what other reason could you come up with? A! stainless steel barrel.
Well, it's a joke. But seriously, ORSIS is already a next generation hunting weapon (in my opinion). Adjustable stock, muzzle, new type of trigger with very light trigger force. Bedding, factory made. In short, a lot of advantages. And there is only one minus, but a very serious one. Weight. If for running hunting, an extra 300-400 grams is already a nightmare.

You are right) what confuses me the most is the weight. Again, I go with the Tiger, and its weight with optics is about 4.5. I console myself with the thought that I haven’t died, that these 300-400 grams are nothing to me))) And then I remember the lake. Biryukul, summer, hot, and with every kilometer along the marshland the gun gets heavier and heavier)
Description of the Orsis Hunter carbine
Also in high demand is the Orsis Hunter model hunting carbine, which today is produced on the basis of a multi-shot bolt group.
Naturally, this weapon is rifled. It is curious that such a rifle can be made not only for right-handers, but also for left-handers. As for the metal parts of the weapon, they are made of steel with improved stainless properties. This model has the following calibers:
- .223 Remington - rifling pitch is 10 (8), total rifling 4 (5R), barrel length 22 inches;
- .243 Winchester – rifling pitch 10, total rifling 4 (5R), barrel length 22 inches;
- .30-06 Springfield – rifling pitch 11, total rifling 4 (5R), barrel length 22 inches;
- .308 Winchester – rifling pitch 11, total rifling 4 (5R), barrel length 20-22 inches.
- 9.3X62 Mauser - rifling pitch 14, rifling total 6, barrel length 20-22 inches.
In the basic configuration, the metal of the carbine is painted with a special Ceracote coating in Titanium color. It has open devices for aiming. The stock is made of weapons-grade laminate and walnut. The colors are Royal Jacanda, Nutmeg and Pepper.
Supplied in original packaging.
There are 2 configuration options – basic and additional.
In the first case: the rifle itself, a detachable magazine with three cartridges, a certificate, a passport, a shooting protocol, DTK 003 and 001 and a Cerakote coating with Titanium color.
With additional equipment: the barrel length increases to 22 and 24, rifling 5R and 6R are made (and their pitch changes according to the recommended values), as well as a lightweight bolt group. Cerakote coating in Sniper Grey, Green, Black Graphite, Desert Sand. And also a Picatinny rail, stock adjustment for the M3 and, as a pleasant surprise, a gift medallion with a monogram.
Advantages and disadvantages
The following positive and negative aspects can be noted in the Orsis 120 high-precision rifle.
pros
1.
Free-floating gun steel barrel. There is a thread on the muzzle of the barrel for screwing in the DTK or other devices.
2.
Noble wooden stock made from selected walnut. The stock has serrations that allow you to hold the rifle in a variety of ways.
3.
The wear-resistant rubber butt pad dampens recoil when fired.
Article on the topic: Cat s60 owner reviews
4.
Excellent accuracy. From 100 meters, the dispersion of hits is no more than 1 (one) arc minute.
5.
Effective shot range - 800 m.
6.
The detachable magazine is completely adjacent to the stock, does not get caught and does not get lost during hunting.
7.
Reliability. If the carabiner breaks, it can be repaired free of charge by the manufacturer under warranty.
8.
An original trigger mechanism that provides minimal trigger force (0.65 kg).
9.
The wide trigger guard provides a comfortable trigger pull even with winter gloves.
10.
The bolt handle is made in the shape of a “drop” - one of the most comfortable rifle handles.
11.
Price. Orsis 120 in caliber .308 Win, this is a budget rifle; to purchase it you will need 83 - 90 thousand rubles. depending on the configuration.
Minuses
1.
Weight. The weight of the carbine without the Picatinny rail, optical sight and loaded magazine is 3.4 kg. If you install these add-ons, the weight of the rifle can exceed 4 kg, and this is heavy for hunting.
2.
Recoil. Despite the rubber butt pad, the recoil is very sensitive, and even installing a DTK does not reduce it much.
3.
Fuse. The three-position shutter safety system looks interesting, but when turned on and off it clicks loudly, which is not very good for hunting.
4.
Ammunition. Specialized cartridges for Orsis in caliber . 308 Win (7.62x51) are sold at a high price.
5.
As a minus, I also noted the presence of different configurations of the Orsis 120 and an additional payment for extras.
Domestic carbine for 80-90 thousand rubles. can be done immediately with a rail, sights and DTK. This is just my opinion.
First steps into aviation
Non-standard.
orsis hunter se de luxe The future aviator was born in Kiev, in the family of a professor of psychiatry who worked at the University of St. Vladimir. At the age of 13, Igor left for St. Petersburg and entered the Naval School. But the young man was attracted not by the sea, but by the sky. In 1907, he realized that he was very interested in aircraft design and returned home to study at the Kiev Polytechnic Institute. At the same time, he also studied in the Aeronautical Section.
The result was not long in coming. Sikorsky created the first simple models of helicopters already in 1908. In the same year, he went to the Paris School of Aeronautical Engineering (now the ESTACA School). His studies in Paris lasted a year, and he returned to Russia and continued working on the first helicopter project. The first options did not have a reliable control system, and the carrying capacity was low. And soon the young designer switched to aircraft design.
In 1911, he received a license to fly and conducted a demonstration flight of the C-5 model, which stayed in the air for 30 seconds. And the S-6 model was adopted by the Russian army in February 1912, after which Sikorsky received the position of chief engineer of the aviation department. The chief engineer was only 23 years old. Soon the plant began producing the Russian Knight aircraft with four engines and a payload of 600 kg. On its basis, they began to produce the Ilya Muromets serial bomber, famous during the First World War, which was produced until 1917.
Operating principle
Vpo-208
The carbine operates on the principle of direct use of part of the powder gases. They come from the barrel through a long tube located under the casing into the gas cylinder pipe of the bolt frame.
There they expand, push the piston with an o-ring and the bolt cylinder, which, moving in the copy groove, turns and extends, opening the barrel breech. The recoil impulse throws the frame back and compresses the return mechanism spring. During this movement, the spent cartridge case is removed and the firing pin is cocked.
Before loading, the carbine is put on safety - the flag is lowered down. The magazine is removed by pressing the button on the right, above the trigger guard. The cartridges are stacked in two rows. Installing the magazine into the hopper to its standard location is accompanied by a characteristic click.
Before firing, the weapon is transferred to the firing position - the safety flag rises up. The bolt handle is pulled back. In this case, be sure to press the left latch lever, otherwise it will not budge.
If you have not cleaned the weapon, but are only reloading it, then do not pull the bolt carrier all the way back, overcoming the force at the end of the stroke. With this persistence, you will put the spring of the return mechanism on the latch, after which you will have to push the bolt and cartridge manually, using the pusher lever on the right side of the receiver. After the shot, the bolt frame, moving backward, hits the weighting material and releases the return spring itself.
Cocking the firing pin is accompanied by the opening of the dust curtain of the cartridge ejector window. After the end of shooting, it closes manually.
The video below will tell you about the characteristics of the Orsis AR10 308 WIN carbine:
Ammunition
Since 2022, Orsis factories began to produce high-precision .308 Win caliber cartridges. with Lapua sleeve (Finland). According to the manufacturer, the accuracy of hits with these bullets is no more than 0.5 MOA. Moreover, the price for one cartridge is 750 rubles.
High-precision bullets produced by the Novosibirsk Cartridge Plant, Tula, as well as foreign products such as Saco (Finland), Geco (Germany) and others fly well from the Orsis 120.
High-accuracy refineries can be purchased at a price of 95 rubles. for one cartridge. You can also try shooting with other domestic ammunition: Barnaul, Kalashnikov.
Orsis 140 carbine
Horse saddle: the most popular versions and modern modifications
After the successful release of the Orsis-120 budget carbine, many users began to actively express that they would like to have a weapon with a polymer rather than a wooden stock. This detail has many advantages:
- Firstly, it weighs significantly less, which means the hunter will be less tired while moving through the forest and will gain additional mobility when aiming.
- Secondly, the plastic stock is highly moisture resistant, so the weapon can be used even in the most aggressive conditions with high air humidity.
- And thirdly, weapons with a polymer stock are much less susceptible to mechanical damage, and therefore have a longer service life, especially in the hands of a beginner.
Also in the Orsis-140, not only the material for making the stock was replaced, but also the shape - it became more elegant and thin, making the weapon look more refined and much more pleasant to hold.
As for the technical characteristics and design, the Orsis-140 carbine is almost completely identical to the Orsis-120. The only exception is the weight, which has become slightly smaller due to the reduction in the dimensions of the stock, as well as the use of lighter material. And so the engineers continued to produce the rifle in three different calibers, differing only in the course of the rifling and the combat range.
Equipment
The Orsis-120 carbine is supplied in a cardboard package, which is equipped with a plastic handle for ease of transportation. Inside there is not only the weapon itself, but also a magazine for three rounds. The bolt is removed from the rifle and is located separately from the cavity of the box. The kit includes a weapons passport, a test shooting certificate, a certificate and a simple but illustrated instruction manual, written in two languages - Russian and English. The weapon can also be supplied with a Picatinny sighting rail if the buyer places an individual order.
Description of the Orsis 120 carbine
A popular carbine is the Orsis 120 model, which is excellent for various types of hunting. The rifle has a manual reloading type and is manufactured on the basis of a multi-shot bolt group. In essence, it is an excellent hunting rifle, which received all the best from previous models. At the same time, the Orsis 120 rifle is well suited for shooters purchasing their first weapon of this type - it successfully combines simplicity, reliability and quality.
The model was created precisely according to the wishes of shooters and weapons distributors. The barrel length is twenty-two inches (or 558 millimeters). It has two calibers - .223 Rem and .308 Win, the first has a rifling pitch of 10, and the second has 11.
The beautiful wooden stock, made of walnut, allows you to hold the carbine without any problems. And its original trigger mechanism was created precisely in the company’s design bureau. The design of the mechanism is well protected from external influences.
The base weight of the rifle is 3.4 kilograms (without loaded magazine and Picatinny rail).
It is sold in a basic configuration, which includes the rifle itself, a passport, a certificate and a special Cerakote coating.
Specifications
In addition to its convenient and simple design, the Orsis-120 rifle also has good tactical and technical characteristics. These are the indicators you can see in the carbine’s weapons passport:
Characteristic: | Parameter: | ||
Caliber | .223 REM | .243 Win | .308 Win |

Hunting carbine 223 caliber Orsis
As you can see, rifles of different calibers differ only in the pitch of the rifling, which significantly affects the flight range of the bullet. By the way, the accuracy of the battle at a distance of 100 meters is the same for everyone - the spread of the ballistic projectile is no more than 3 cm.

Hello Igor!
correction at 500 m for a 140 hybrid at 930 is 8.3 moa.
correction at 500 m for 7wsm (180 hybrid at 940) - 8.2 moa.
Note that I'm not saying that speed solves all problems. I’m saying that the speed will make it possible to Slightly compensate for the error in wind assessment due to the LACK OF GOOD AND ACCURATE WIND INDICATORS - we’re talking about sniping, right?
if the shooter does not know how to read the wind at all and makes gross mistakes in his assessment, yes, of course, neither a 284 cartridge case nor a 7 cm will save him.
After Bisley, I analyzed my results (tablets) very carefully. and found out that HALF of my departures in fours were 2-3 cm!!! those. I correctly assessed the wind, but I simply didn’t have enough wind resistance (in fact, I didn’t have enough ability to read the wind, of course. But could these 2 cm be compensated for by speed?). Yes, I had failures in threes and even twos. Yes, with such gross mistakes, no amount of speed will help.
Why did Kovalsky and Grimaluk lose in the F-open? They relied on accuracy, reduced speed, hoping that the weather would be easier. and indeed, they beat the wiggles into two world records. but we lost on points - stupidly we just needed speed, because it’s unrealistic to judge such fast, gusty winds using flags...
Good guy.
ok, 930 is not for 260 sleeves. although this speed was obtained on a 27″ barrel. make a 24″ “turning” barrel, and you’ll get a speed of 905 or, at worst, 880. That’s also not weak.
Yes, you can’t get such speeds on Vikhta. and even more so on sunars.
but there is a huge selection of American powders.
there is nothing so prohibitive about this speed - normal speed for a SPORTS rifle, designed for SPORTS sniping.
Dallas.
Sergey. no, 284 and 260AI no. because the 284 cartridge case is a weak resource for a sniper rifle, which must be driven both to the tail and to the mane. 260AI - problem with slopes, steep angle. a potential problem when feeding quickly from the magazine - I have repeatedly seen how during fast exercises the 47 cartridge case jams due to slopes (yes, if you tweak the receiver, the problem will be partially solved, but still..)
260 rem is also a caliber for rednecks

Review of the Orsis 120 rifle. Part 1. First impressions.
In this article I will talk about the purchase history, pricing and first impressions I received from the Orsis 120 rifle in 308win caliber. Perhaps to seasoned high-precision experts my enthusiasm will seem a little childish and exaggerated. Therefore, I note that before this I only dealt with saigas, AKs and similar weapons, both rifled and smooth-bore, so I am not too spoiled by the quality.
This is my first rifle that can be called accurate, and my first bolt gun besides the Toz-106.
Anticipating questions - I haven’t shot yet. I'm waiting for ROH.

The new restyled Saiga 5.45 is still not coming out, and the pink one is slowly running out.
In order not to just give it away, I started frantically running around the shops looking for something I liked.
I wanted something long-range so that I could learn to shoot at 500 meters.
Therefore, I decided to take a rifle caliber, i.e. 7.62x54 or 308.
Actually, initially I wanted to buy a Tiger.
But those tigers that were available were driven away by their workmanship or price. The last nail in the striped coffin came from the wooden version, which was sold in the store for 70 rubles. In my opinion, it’s a little expensive for a tiger.
In the same store, my eye caught the 120th Orsis. I was also interested in the novelty on the topic on the Hansa, where in just two months it collected 150 pages.
I picked it up and fell in love. As a result, I bought it.
Compared with other domestic bolts - leopard and moose. I liked Orsis much more.
I didn’t look at the various AKMoids in the tree, I don’t like them.
Also held in the hands of foreigners. Remington 700 and cz 550 lux. Both foreign rifles were 20 thousand more expensive, had black barrels, and in my unenlightened opinion did not differ fundamentally in quality/beauty.
Therefore, I decided to save money and at the same time support the domestic manufacturer.
As a result, for 57 kopecks thousand I received a rifle with an already installed sighting bar and a thread cut into the end of the barrel.
Let's finish with the introductory words, and let's start looking at the rifle from all sides.
The total weight of the rifle with the rail is exactly 3500. Judging by the reviews, it’s a bit much for a hunting bolt gun with a relatively thin barrel. Total length - 108.
The barrel steel is stainless, coated with Cerakote. Barrel length is 22 inches.
Caliber 308, twist 11 (if I understand correctly, this twist is the most universal), 4 grooves. Made using the burnishing method.
Obviously Orsis shoots his products before selling them. At a minimum, this can be determined by the unstripped copper plating from the rifling. By the way, the barrel was cleaned of carbon deposits.
Shooting targets were not applied.
The end of the barrel has a thread for attaching muzzle devices. DTC or sound moderators. It's a small thing, but nice.
The barrel is hanging out. Pillar bedding is present - this is the installation of metal bushings for the bolts holding the receiver and stock together. There is a recoil paw.
The wood on my specimen is a very beautiful dark walnut. The stock is impregnated with a composition based on flaxseed. But it's not soaked enough. I will additionally process it with danish and maybe I’ll get around to doing glass bedding, i.e. bed for the receiver made of metal-filled epoxy.
The length of the stock is just right for my hand. There is a shock-absorbing rubber butt pad.
The quality of the notch can be assessed from this photo. I don’t understand anything about it, but it’s definitely better than on my 43rd, and I don’t have anything else in the tree.
Pay attention to the right side of the photo, there is a step on the trunk. It is used to install open sights. The rifle is sold without them and in general, at the moment they have not yet been developed
On the left of the photo you can see a round plug in the tree. Below it is a fastening with which the magazine shaft is rigidly connected to the stock. According to the manufacturer, this increases the strength and rigidity of the structure.
The receiver is open. It is clear that closed is better because It collects less dirt, but I bought what I had.
The shutter travel is excellent, very soft and smooth. The shutter moves simply under its own weight.
There is a slight play in the rearmost position of the shutter. At the same time, even if a transverse load is applied, the shutter does not jam.
The handle is simply screwed into the bolt body. Turnkey flats are visible on it.
There is a visual and tactile indicator of the cocked shutter.
Three-position fuse. It is convenient to manipulate it. It clicks quietly.
The first position is fire. The second position is when the release is locked, but the shutter can be manipulated. The third position is when the trigger is locked and the shutter is locked.
Also in this photo you can see that the installed bar has a zero slope. In general, it’s very fortunate that it was installed right away because... It costs RUB 6,500 separately, although it’s steel, it’s a bit expensive. And I got it right out of the box.
In order to remove the shutter, you need to press the button on the left side of the receiver.
The shutter itself is made of milled stainless steel. The body is mostly polished. The lugs have been sandblasted.
View from the other side.
Shutter mirror.
The trigger is very light - 750 grams. After kilograms on the saiga, I clicked it a couple of times without meaning to.
I liked the descent itself, it was extremely pleasant. There is a slight free play.
USM branded Orsisovsky - customizable. There are sharp edges on the trigger.
The three-round magazine is almost flush with the stock. In the transverse position there is a slight play, but in the longitudinal position there is none. Nothing rattles or makes any extraneous sounds.
The magazine latch is located in the trigger guard; you cannot accidentally press it or get caught on a branch and lose the magazine. The magazine is snapped into place with one finger.
The magazine itself is single-row, made of plastic, but the jaws are metal. I know that there are magazines with a larger capacity, 5 and, it seems, 10. I will definitely buy the most capacious one in addition.
This concludes our detailed inspection.
Overall, the Orsis 120 rifle made a very pleasant impression on me. Everything is convenient and well done.
At the end, I will briefly summarize the pros and cons that, in my opinion, are present in this model.
+ stainless steel barrel + suspended barrel + stated accuracy out of the box - 1.5 minutes by rolling. + high-quality workmanship and fit of parts + very pleasant trigger + beautiful walnut + rib included, threads on the barrel included
+- price. On the one hand, analogues are significantly more expensive. On the other hand, almost 60 thousand cannot be called a budget solution
- there are no open sights - a new model, statistics on childhood diseases, failures, defects, etc. have not yet been developed for it - the mass is greater than that of analogues - there is a gradual increase in price. Already now on the Orsis website there is a naked rifle 59900 + 6500 strap for it - a complete leapfrog is happening in terms of executions. There is a bolt from a hunter (the rifle is more expensive, the bolt is beautiful, twisted) or a native one. The receiver, also known as the receiver, can be either open or closed in all calibers. There may or may not be a carving.
It feels like the rifle is being assembled from parts that are currently in the warehouse.
Despite these shortcomings, I am pleased with the purchase. In my opinion, a good option for your money.
In the second part of the review, I will talk about the choice and installation of optics (maybe they will recommend something in the comments. I myself was aiming for a Nikon Prostaf 3-9x40), and then we will carefully shoot with different cartridges and look at the accuracy. By the way, the accuracy will probably be not of the rifle, but of mine, because... I shoot most likely much worse than its capabilities.
I would also be glad to receive advice on break-in and cleaning. As I understand it, using homemade means
in the case of this rifle, it is better not to use
And that's all for now. Thank you for your attention!

Description of the Orsis 120 carbine
A rifled magazine carbine with a bolt (longitudinal sliding) bolt. Available in three calibers:
- .223 REM (Remington 5.56×45);
- .243 Win (Winchester 6.2×52);
- .308 Win (Winchester 7.62×51).
The barrel is suspended, 558 mm long. The stock is semi-pistol, made of walnut, impregnated with linseed oil. The stock is without frills - ridges, cushions (Monte Carlo), but with a rubber butt pad.
In the basic version, it comes with an open receiver, without sighting devices (optics rails, rear sights, front sights) and threads at the end of the barrel for installing silencers, a muzzle brake and other accessories.
An overview of the Orsis 120 carbine is presented in this video:
Advantages and disadvantages
The carbine has all the makings of a high-quality sniper rifle - a suspended (cantilevered) barrel made of stainless steel, mandrel rifling. It can actually put a bullet into a bullet with a deviation of less than one arc minute at distances of up to one hundred meters. However, many shooters admit that such a design is of little use for hunting weapons. If only because dirt gets packed between the barrel and the stock.
- The protective cerakote (matte black) coating of the metal parts is highly resistant; if desired, you can order the carbine with Sniper gray, Desert sand and Green coating. The stock is well made, it is comfortable and flexible. Unfortunately, the buttplate is not adjustable, so it may be too small for some.
- The line of the upper ridge of the butt is parallel to the barrel; when firing powerful cartridges (.308 Win), the recoil can cause a hematoma under the shooter’s eye. The lack of a Monte Carlo airbag on it is a debatable flaw.
- The fore-end and pistol grip of the stock have a fish scale notch; its surface is not too large, but it performs its duties well, and the stock holds tenaciously.
Near the front swivel there is a bracket for attaching a bipod, which is a big plus for those who prefer to hunt from ambush.
- The fact that in the basic version the receiver is open is a big disadvantage for hunting weapons; this solution is more appropriate for sporting rifles. It’s also bad that installation of the usual rear sight and front sight is not provided at all.
- The trigger mechanism is adjustable. The hook release is easy, with a warning - there is a slight idle movement, after which the force increases. Unfortunately, most of the adjustment screws are not accessible to the shooter. Some of them are generally tightly sealed during manufacture. The bolt that adjusts the rigidity of the trigger is conditionally accessible - its slot is located under the trigger, and there is no hole in the trigger guard, so you will have to remove the stock before adjusting. It is also doubtful that a hunting weapon needs a trigger with sharp edges.
- The longitudinally sliding bolt is smooth, without spiral rifling. It has two combat locking lugs. The simplicity of the design ensures that it will not jam during reloading. Not everyone likes the massive bolt handle, which is somewhat similar to a similar part on the three-ruler. The likelihood of it getting caught on bushes and branches while moving through thickets is very high.
- The fuse is three-position; it can be used to block the bolt completely or only the firing pin. How convenient this is for hunting is up to the hunter to decide, but the safety catch is located very conveniently; it can be operated without being distracted from the aiming process.
- The design of the magazine latch is very convenient and well thought out. It is located inside the trigger guard, which is guaranteed to protect against accidental release and allows for quick reloading.
Orsis carbine 120 cal. 308win (design)
Purpose
The carbine was created for the purpose of being used for hunting, but in terms of its range and accuracy characteristics (MOA value is not more than one), it could well be a sporting sniper rifle.
Varieties
The carbine is available in three calibers: .223 REM (Remington 5.56×45); .243 Win (Winchester 6.2×52); .308 Win (Winchester 7.62×51). The models differ only in the rifling pitch^
- for the first two it is 1:10,
- and for a large-caliber one it is 1:11 (one full revolution of the bullet per 11 inches of barrel).
Optionally, Orsis 120 carbine rifles are available with a closed receiver, a Picatinny rail installed and a thread at the end of the barrel.
Description
The Orsis-120 rifle is a rifled repeating carbine with a bolt action. The weapon is used for hunting fur and feathered game, catching small animals and even shooting predators. This versatility is due to the fact that the carbine is available in three different calibers:
- .223 REM (Remington) - 5.56x45 mm - used mainly for shooting small fur-bearing animals (hare, squirrel), as well as training and sports clay pigeon shooting;
- .243 Win (Winchester) - 6.2x52 mm - used for hunting larger fur-bearing animals (badger, fox), as well as for catching large game birds (grouse, black grouse);
- .308 Win (Winchester) - 7.62x51 mm - is used primarily for hunting medium-sized mammals (roe deer, deer), in rare cases - for shooting wolves.
As you can see, no old-fashioned ammunition like 7.62x39 and others. Only modern technologies were used in the production process. For example, the barrel is made of stainless carbon steel, and the rifling in it is made using the mandrel method. However, modernity is also inherent in the design of the weapon.
Design
It cannot be said that the Orsis-120 rifle was made completely from scratch. It successfully combines many design features characteristic of professional sporting, hunting and military weapons. Here are the most interesting of them:
- stock - wooden (walnut), half-pistol;
- stock - "Monte Carlo" with rear shock absorber;
- USM - adjustable, with double stroke;
- shutter - longitudinally sliding, smooth;
- fuse - three-position (fire, locking the striker and bolt);
- sighting rail - absent (installation of Weaver or Picatinny is possible);
- store - plastic, with a metal receiving hopper;
- sighting device is missing.
So no frills in the form of cheek pads, fiber optic front sights or muzzle compensators. The rifle has only what it needs to fire. However, the weapon has a wide base for modification and installation of various “body kits”.
Purpose
The Orsis-120 carbine was made for hunting medium-sized animals and small fur-bearing game. However, given the high accuracy of combat, as well as good range, the weapon can also serve as an excellent sniper rifle (subject to the installation of the appropriate body kit, of course). In some cases, a carbine can be used for sporting purposes, for example, if you choose a small-caliber variety and install a diopter sight on it. The most important thing is to have the desire and ability to modify.
Advantages and disadvantages
The Orsis-120 carbine has the makings of a high-quality rifle for hunting. At the same time, the weapon will not cost a fortune and will serve its owner faithfully for several decades. If this is not enough for you, then you can familiarize yourself with the advantages that customers speak about:
- High-quality protective coating Cerakote (matte, black). Thanks to it, the weapon is highly resistant to corrosion and mechanical stress.
- Protection from sun glare. The forend of the rifle has a fish scale notch. Although its area is not too large, it copes with its task.
- Adjustable trigger mechanism. Allows you to adjust the rigidity of the trigger “to suit you”, making its travel smoother.
- Simple and reliable shutter. It will not jam during reloading, and the likelihood of it getting caught on branches and bushes is reduced to almost a minimum.
- Convenient magazine latch design. It is located on the inside of the trigger guard, so the likelihood of accidental release is minimal.
- Good security system. It is presented in the form of a three-position fuse that blocks not only the trigger, but also the bolt frame.
Among the shortcomings, people mainly complain about the lack of certain systems that, in theory, should have been present in the Orsis-120. For example, a Monte Carlo stock without a pad can knock out a hunter's eye if he uses an optic. Well, the very absence of sighting devices perplexes some buyers who are accustomed to seeing front and rear sights on carbines.
Versions of "ORSIS-120"
As mentioned earlier, the Orsis-120 model is available in one of three calibers. The barrel channels of different rifles differ not only in their diameter, but also in the number of riflings. For example, .223 Rem and .243 Win have a pitch of 1:10. In the larger caliber .308 Win version, the bullet rotates every 11 inches of the barrel (1:11), which has a much better effect on the range of use.
Orsis carbine .308 Win
Don't forget about the optional versions of the Orsis-120 carbine. For example, in gun stores you can find models with a Picatinny rail already installed or with a thread at the end of the barrel, which allows you to install a muffler or muzzle constriction on the carbine. What can we say about the fact that a weapon can have a wide variety of under-barrel attachments: a laser target, a flashlight, a bayonet, and so on. True, the cost of such varieties of Orsis-120 is usually overpriced.
Technologies
A rifle is about geometry; the more accurate all the components of the rifle and the quality of the final assembly, the higher the accuracy and controllability of the weapon during the shooting process. The barrel was produced using the trellis planing method on CNC machines, today this is the most accurate method for producing rifle barrels, allowing to obtain a barrel with a deviation from the standard caliber of no more than 2 microns, the chamber rotates with an axial runout relative to the bore of no more than 2 microns, the bolt group body is obtained made of stainless maraging steel, and the central hole is produced on a CNC electrical erosion machine. Many elements are processed in a final hardened state to ensure maximum geometric accuracy. All steel parts of ORSIS T-5000 are made only of stainless steel. Particular care in manufacturing and the selection of high-quality materials allows us to speak of an increased service life relative to traditional estimates for these calibers.
Review of the Orsis SE Alpine carbine
This category of rifled repeating rifles, which the ORSIS Alpine carbine adequately provides, was developed quite recently. The year 2011 was truly triumphant for the new developments of the Promtekhnologii Group of Companies, when the company almost completed the first series of rifled magazine hunting weapons with a high degree of shooting accuracy.
And already at the IWA 2014 exhibition-salon, held on March 08, 2014, the Orsis for hunting in mountain conditions received numerous rave reviews.
Advantages and disadvantages
Typically, mountain hunters and rangers of the highest category have always been considered a privileged class even in their own environment. Therefore, weapons and equipment must be appropriate - high quality, light, reliable and not burdensome when moving. That is, the main advantages of the Orsis carbine are the following:
- Several specialized calibers for solving hunting problems, which have a design innovation - a flat-type trajectory.
- For the manufacture of the mechanism, a high-alloy stainless steel alloy is used, which allows the weapon to be used in extreme environments and mountainous, changeable, humid and cold climates.
- Compared to analogues, the reliability of the design during the firing process has been improved several times.
Insert your text here Extremely minor shortcomings are currently being finalized, this is due to the fact that the model appeared on the market quite recently - a little over five years.

Production[ | ]
The ORSIS plant area is less than 3000 m2, the number of employees is about 150 people. The company has all the necessary licenses and permits for the production of small arms, and is also certified according to international quality standards ISO 9001. The staff is staffed with highly qualified engineering, design, workers and management personnel. The enterprise carries out various types of research and development work in the field of development and modernization of modern high-precision weapon systems. Also, cooperation is carried out with specialists from Russian research institutes and universities in the field of metalworking, materials science, development and design of small arms. The project itself to create a high-tech weapons production was implemented with the support of the National Federation of Precision Shooting, whose experts take part in the development and testing of ORSIS products.
The plant's facilities have established a full cycle of production of rifled rifles: production of barrels and bolt groups, trigger mechanisms, stocks, as well as assembly and test shooting of finished products. Each ORSIS model is an independent development of the company’s specialists.
For the manufacture of trigger mechanisms and bolt groups, special Russian-made high-strength stainless steels are used. Stock designs are made from a wide variety of materials: valuable wood, gun laminate, and aluminum.
Features of weapon production
Moscow is equipped with advanced equipment. It consists of more than 40 machining centers. The equipment allows us to constantly maintain high quality of products at all stages of production. Provides flexible production processes and very impressive productivity. The equipment of the production lines is designed to produce barrels with internal geometry indicators close to ideal. In Europe, the machine tools used in Orsis are not used.
Promtekhnologiya LLC is an innovative, rapidly developing structure. In a short time it has gained a high reputation among Russian and foreign partners. Currently, the plant operates under contracts with well-known global brands. The Russian enterprise has organized joint production of weapons from these foreign structures, but with higher quality. Thus, in the assembly of semi-automatic hunting carbines AR-10 and M-15, barrels of our own production, made of high-quality steel, are used.
The number of employees at the plant is about 150 people. It has its own design bureau, which is aimed at developing promising weapons. The company does not experience any problems with financing; it is sufficient. It is possible to purchase and equip industrial lines with modern and advanced equipment. The company has licenses and permits for the production of weapons. Certified by international quality standards.
The production of weapons has been adjusted to a full cycle. This is the production of bolt systems and barrels, trigger mechanisms, and cradle. The factory assembles and fires manufactured products. Orsis models are individual developments of Russian specialists. It should be noted that in the manufacture of trigger mechanisms and shutters, special stainless steels are used - high-strength, produced in Russia. The weapon stock is made from different materials. This can be valuable wood, weapons-grade laminate, aluminum.
Performance characteristics of new products
T-80 tanks were rightfully considered one of the most advanced achievements of domestic design thought. For comparison, their tactical and technical characteristics should be considered.
The T-80BV had a mass of 43.7 tons, while the T-80U was heavier and weighed as much as 46.
The length of the first, including the cannon, was 9651 mm, while the improved model was shorter - 9556 mm.
As for the body itself, it’s the other way around. The T-80B had a length of 6982 mm and a width of 3582 mm, while the T-80U had characteristics of 7012 mm and 3603 mm, respectively.
The difference in height is almost invisible to the naked eye. The numbers indicate the difference only in the documentation - 2219 versus 2215 mm.
