MP-444 "Bagheera"

The pistol is a modern pistol developed in Russia at the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (IMZ); it was built to replace Makarov pistols. This pistol is available in three main cartridges: .380 ACP, 9×18mm Makarov and 9×19mm Parabellum. It also uses a detachable box-type magazine with two columns. [2]

Design[edit]

The body of the pistol is made of durable thermoset plastic, with elements of operational steel, making it a lightweight weapon built into a plastic construction. The barrel stroke in the closed/open cycle is achieved through the interaction of two inclinations; the main tilt located at the bottom of the barrel, and an additional sight located at the base of the return-buffer mechanism. A buffer is available to absorb and reduce barrel and bolt shock in the rearmost positions. The hammer has a special cocking function that is similar to the hammer of a standard pistol. This design allows the shooter to manually cock the firing pin, allowing for double action or pre-cocked firing pin operation. The extractor performs a dual function: extracting the empty case and the second case, which is an indicator of ammunition in the magazine. If the front of the extractor is raised slightly, there is ammunition in the pistol. If the extractor is smooth and level, this tells the gun that it is out of ammo.
