The Finnish carbine Tikka T3 began to conquer the Russian market in the late nineties and early 2000s. Finnish managers accurately and clearly grasped the situation in Russia in those years and believed that it was here that their weapons would be in demand. The weapon in question was designed and manufactured by a Finnish armory. The original version of the rifle was called M595. It was in many ways an imperfect weapon, both in terms of design and performance. After modification, the weapon became known as Tikka T3.

Design features of the Tikka T3 hunting rifle
This gun is single-barreled and single-shot. The barrel of the weapon is rifled. Its design is simple, but at the same time elegant. There is nothing superfluous in the design of the weapon; everything here is thought out and rational. However, there is still one non-standard “zest” in the weapon: the receiver of the carbine has a faceted shape, which distinguishes it from most other analogues.

Features of shooting from the Tikka T3 carbine
Shooting from the gun is very comfortable, the trigger is dry, short and crisp, and there is little recoil. As for the caliber of the Tikka T3 rifle, the caliber depends on the specific modification of the weapon. This weapon (again, depending on its model) uses 222 Rem, 338 Win, 308 Win, 223 Rem, 243 Win charges.
By the way, weapon users speak most flatteringly about the 243 Win charge. This charge has an extremely high muzzle velocity, reaching 1000 meters per second. The bullet of this charge has “flat” ballistics. For this reason, such charges can be fired without taking into account vertical corrections.
However, gun owners claim that a bullet from such a charge has a detrimental effect on its barrel: due to its high speed, the bullet destroys the rifling inside the barrel. The barrel of a weapon cannot withstand more than 1000 shots with such a bullet.
Another significant and at the same time very annoying feature of charges for Tikka T3 is that there are no domestically produced cartridges for it. The gun shoots either branded Sako cartridges or Swedish Norma loads.
Main versions of the Tikka T3 carbine
It was already mentioned above that Finnish weapons designers have developed a wide variety of versions of these weapons, each with unique distinctive features. Here is a list and brief description of the main modifications:
- Tikka T3 Life. This version of the rifle is called the "black" version. The material from which the body of this modification is made is black plastic, the barrel is blued. It is equipped with unique fiber optic sighting mechanisms. In addition, Battu has a special mount that allows you to adapt optical devices that help you accurately shoot at distant targets. This version can be used for shooting for sporting purposes, as well as for hunting;
- Tikka T3 Hunter. This modification is made in the old classic style. The body is entirely wooden, which gives the complete illusion that the gun is antique. However, all Hunter’s working mechanisms are exclusively modern. You can, of course, use a gun of this modification for hunting, but it is still better to use it for sporting and entertainment purposes;
- Tikka T3 Tactical. This is the most popular modification of this weapon. First of all, this popularity is associated with the barrel with which this version of the carbine is equipped. The barrel is made using a special technology (cold forging) with the addition of a molybdenum-chromium mixture, resulting in a strong and durable barrel. The body is treated with a manganese phosphate solution, which protects the weapon from rust and mechanical damage. To prevent damage to the threads on the muzzle cut, the cut is protected by a special muzzle brake;
- Tikka T3 Stainless. This is a premium modification that has a modern design and the most advanced technologies. In addition, it can have several calibers. Accordingly, the charges for this modification are used with different destructive power. For this reason, a rifle can be used to hunt game of different sizes. Also, thanks to this feature, the gun can be used in sports competitions at different levels. Stainless carbines have improved characteristics and higher strength compared to similar guns of other modifications. Thanks to the improved characteristics, the rifle of this modification can be successfully used in the most difficult situations.
