In emergency situations, when a person is in danger of being attacked by an aggressive passerby, it is important to have a reliable and effective means of self-defense on hand, and it is also important to have time to use it. Unfortunately, it is impossible to single out the best remedy, since in different situations they can be used with varying success.
For example, a traumatic pistol has high impact characteristics, but its use at short distances is limited by a number of legal requirements, and at long distances it is difficult, since it is necessary to have the skills to conduct aimed shooting.
Alternatives include aerosol sprays or gas cans. They have a wide affected area, so they do not require aiming. In addition, gas under pressure and escaping can deactivate the attacker for several tens of seconds. This is enough time to run away or call for help.
Another self-defense weapon that is considered quite effective is a gas pistol. A small clarification is necessary here. The law on weapons defines gas weapons as one of the types of civilian weapons. They use compressed gas to impart initial energy to the ammunition. Such devices require licensing. We mean guns that are essentially aerosol sprayers. Their main difference lies in the damaging substance.
Device overview
Advantages and disadvantages
Advantages of the device for metered aerosol spraying for self-defense UDAR M-2:
- Free sale, no license required.
- Possibility of making a targeted shot (not a cloud, but a stream comes out of the device). Thanks to this, you can use it in an elevator, inside a car, and when the wind is strong outside. And even against the wind.
- The device is very easy to use. The canister is automatically discarded after firing.
- The small size makes it easy to carry (both in a holster and in a bag).
- The trigger hook, unlike other modifications of the UDAR, is located traditionally - suitable for left-handed and right-handed people.
- The cartridge charge of this device contains much more irritant than a classic gas pistol, so it is more effective against both angry dogs and evil people.
- Good range - a good BAM allows you to hit an enemy up to five meters. But effective aiming is up to three meters.
- Wide temperature range for use.
- The body is very ergonomic.
Minuses:
- Hitting your opponent requires precise aiming.
- If the enemy is wearing dark glasses, the effect of the shot may be reduced to zero.
- BAM determines a lot. It may not work (if it is expired, for example) or release a cloud instead of a stream. Therefore, you need to be careful when choosing a can.
- The substance from BAM can accidentally get on the skin of the hand, and then into the respiratory system.
- The gun may jam (especially if it is not lubricated regularly). There are also cases of the can being skewed and the primer falling out.
- When the service life ends, the trigger springs wear out. This may cause the gun to function with a delay.
The video below provides a brief overview of the UDAR M-2 device:
Purpose
The device, as stated by the manufacturer (Kirovsky), is designed to serve for self-defense by spraying a liquid formulation in the face (eyes) of someone who wants to commit an attack. After the shot, the target (which, by the way, may be an aggressive dog) develops symptoms such as lacrimation, cough, runny nose, and sore throat.
This lasts from fifteen to twenty minutes. It is quite possible to retreat in time.
Positive traits
Despite the fact that it is impossible to compare an aerosol device with a traumatic weapon, the former has a number of advantages that allow it to earn popularity and the status of a good means of self-defense.
- Although the body is made of plastic, the main elements of the trigger are metal. This improves the reliability of the device and increases its service life.
- Five shots from the Udar-M2 pistol with a minimum belt interval can come in handy in a real situation.
- The basic requirements for BAMs are 13x50 mm caliber. There are no restrictions on manufacturers.
- Of the control elements, the pistol has only a safety guard and a trigger. The relative ease of use attracts even those who are not particularly interested in weapons.
- Light weight and compact dimensions.
- Affordable price. For a new model, sellers ask from 1,500 to 2,500 rubles.

Description of the pistol
For the manufacture of the “Udar” device, special materials are used - glass-filled plastics. The weapon does not have a barrel; it is powered by a gas cartridge. Ammunition is placed in a magazine-handle, which holds 5 pieces. The trigger is located on the left, which can interfere with those who operate with their left hand.
Aerosol cans for “Udar” are distinguished by a low concentration of the substance in the liquid, they do not contain gunpowder, and the nozzle hole is larger in diameter than standard ones.
The principle of operation of the sprayer is targeted throwing of liquid. This is how it differs from gas pistols. Charging occurs with disposable BAM metal or plastic. The ammunition is filled with a special irritant with irritating properties.
The impact range of the self-defense weapon “Udar” is 3 m, which is enough to avoid getting close to the attacker. The substance from the can irritates the mucous membranes of the nose, mouth and eyes. A burning sensation appears at the site of contact, tears and saliva flow. A person cannot act actively for 10-15 minutes, during which time he can leave the scene of the incident. The irritant is not harmful to health.
The device of the pistol UDAR M-2
Most of the parts are made of plastic, with the exception of individual elements of the trigger mechanism. There is a metal flag-type fuse located on the side. The body is made in the form of a pistol grip with comfortable protrusions for the hand; some of the side surfaces have a rough pattern that prevents the device from slipping out of the palm.
Five cartridges are charged one at a time through a hole in the top. To remove them, use a ratchet located nearby. The front of the pistol has a convenient trigger button that allows you to shoot with either hand.
The following is a disassembly of the UDAR M-2 device.
This video will tell you about the testing of the UDAR M-2 pistol:
Model Impact
The gas pistol Udar was developed. It was named gas because the principle of its operation is based on the release of a liquid jet with a damaging substance. Those analogues that use gas are significantly inferior in efficiency to Impact, especially in windy weather. This aerosol self-defense device can be purchased without first obtaining a permit.
Any citizen over 18 years of age has the right to wear it.
If a regular gas canister creates a cloud of gas in a certain area of space, then an aerosol gun allows you to accurately shoot a jet of liquid. The maximum striking distance is 2 to 3 meters. The contingent that owns the “Strike” weapon includes not only men, but also women.
Disassembly
Regular maintenance (in particular, lubrication of the trigger mechanism) is advisable. Therefore, it is worth knowing how to disassemble the device (we work with safety glasses):
- Unscrew the four screws.
- We remove the shutter button by carefully pulling out the plastic pin by the cap (you can use wire cutters for this purpose). Make sure the spring doesn't fly away.
- The trigger mechanism is a single unit. It's not difficult to pull it out.
- Having knocked out the metal pin holding the fuse, remove it.
- Assembly is in reverse order.
Types of cartridges
To fire gas self-defense weapons UDAR, cartridges called BAM are used.
They have nothing to do with the Baikal-Amur Mainline; BAM stands for “small-sized aerosol can.”
In appearance, it most closely resembles a blank cartridge; the damaging aerosol is located inside the cylinder under very high pressure.
When you press the trigger, the gases push the piston, which, in turn, pushes the liquid out of the cartridge. Cartridges can be filled not only with irritating combat aerosol; there are blank BAMs that imitate the sound of a shot from a military weapon.
Please note: the most effective are cartridges filled with hot pepper extract. When it gets into the eyes or face of an enemy, hot pepper extract causes incredible burning and severe pain, completely discouraging the desire to continue aggressive actions.
Owner reviews
- As experience has shown, the pistol works very effectively, especially from two to three meters. The attacker's eyes are very watery and mucus is released from the nose.
When you try to wash your eyes (for example, with water from a bottle), even temporary blindness occurs - for about thirty, or even forty minutes.
- The smooth release, quiet operation and ease of shooting with both hands are noted by many owners of this device. At the same time, claiming that it is possible to aim well only at a distance of about two and a half meters. It doesn't work from five meters.
- Most users claim that IMPACT is very effective against dogs. As for unpleasant persons of the human race, with an accurate hit he is quite capable of knocking down the arrogance of anyone. It is recommended to shoot dogs in the mouth, people - in the face.
- All owners unanimously recommend monitoring the use of high-quality BAMs and be sure to check the expiration date. This is important for self-defense.
Buying and using a pistol
Due to the fact that aerosol devices do not require special permission, Impact can be purchased in any available way. Ordering a barrel through an online store may end with the arrival of a courier. The buyer does not risk anything, because he can pay for the goods only after checking it. Make sure the gun is complete. It comes with a clip, as well as documentation containing a certificate and instructions for use.
To use the pistol, you need to place the cartridges in the clip and insert the latter into a special hole on top. Empty cartridges are fired through this hole. By removing the trigger from the safety, you can fire five shots at once. To reduce reload time, it is recommended to carry a spare clip loaded with five rounds.
Analogues of this device
There are also analogues on the Russian market - competitors of the UDAR M-2. There are not too many of them:
- BAMER is a pistol from the Nizhny Novgorod company PKP AKBS LLC. It is slightly heavier than UDAR and has more metal in its construction. It is also designed for five charges and a five-meter distance, but due to the stiff spring it is only convenient for shooting with two hands. It is difficult to charge, especially the fourth and fifth cartridges (in UDAR this process is simple and not difficult). Most users prefer IMPACT when choosing.
- “The Sorcerer” is a product of the famous Tula. It is compact, similar in size to a mobile phone, and designed for two charges (not five, like previous devices). Each barrel has a separate release button. Shoots up to three meters. And it’s very quiet. Charging is convenient. It is possible to fire signal cartridges. However, having only two charges can be a big disadvantage. For example, when there are many attackers, but there is no time to recharge the device. In addition, the low reliability of the device is noted.
Such products as Dobrynya and Premier-4 have also proven themselves well.
The video below provides an overview of two similar devices UDAR and UDAR M-2:
Several modifications
The Udar pistol was modified several times after its release. The changes mainly affected the type of cartridges used. All of them are aimed at increasing the effectiveness of weapons, as well as increasing the affected area.
- The Udar pistol in its original design is designed for the use of 16x60 mm ammunition.
- The first change that the pistol has undergone is associated with the transition to a new caliber of cartridges. The size of the cans was 13x50 mm. The updated Udar-M has improved its characteristics, despite the reduction in the dimensions of the cartridge.
- Udar-M2 received a new trigger. Its design makes the weapon suitable for left-handed shooting.
- The dimensions of the BAMs were further reduced. The corresponding model of the Udar pistol was called “BAMER”.
Among all the models, it was the Bamer and M2 that gained high popularity. Users appreciated the M2 for its ability to be used in confined spaces, and the Bamer for its firing range, which is 5 m.
Rating
We present the top best aerosol gas pistols.
"Premier"
The weapon is capable of firing 2 or 3 shots (depending on modification) without pauses. You neutralize the aggressor for a long time. Externally, the unit looks serious, almost frightening. There is a modification of the pistol equipped with a laser sight. However, even without it it is difficult not to hit from a distance of 3-5 meters.
It stands out among other aerosol weapons by the presence of an electric system for igniting propellant charges (an electric capsule is available). The caliber of cartridges used is 18*55. Among the disadvantages, it is worth highlighting the large size of the unit; it can be taken as a pocket weapon, but it is inconvenient.
Spray cans for pistols are produced by Tula, divided into pepper and mixture. The first ones work unstably - the spray can come in a stream, and sometimes it is thrown out in the form of a large droplet spray. In the second case, the effectiveness of the weapon decreases.
"BAMER-F"
The pistol is produced by Fortuna LLC from Nizhny Novgorod. The unit throws tear liquid at short distances - up to 2 meters. The range depends little on weather factors. The liquid flies out in a precisely directed stream, so the weapon can be used both outdoors and indoors. The device is compatible with BAMs of other products from this company.
The weapon has a well-coordinated assembly, there are no distortions or backlashes. The body is made of strong plastic. The handle contains a magazine for 5 BAMs. The weapon is equipped with an impact device and has anti-slip notches on the handle. There is a manual safety lock. Immediately after the salvo, the spent cylinder is thrown out automatically. Therefore, no traces of pepper remain on the gun, and the weapon does not need to be cleaned additionally. The cartridges used are 13*50 caliber cartridges.
Of the minuses, it is worth noting the following - the lower part of the handle is thicker, so access to the trigger guard is difficult. It has a stiff feed spring. In addition, two and three BAMs are thrown out at once instead of one. This may appear after a while.
"Sorcerer"
The “Sorcerer” aerosol pistol is manufactured by the “A+A” company from Tula. He has two cans of ammunition at once. 1000 shots guaranteed. The destruction range is 3 meters. It has two calibers - 13*60 and 13*50 cans are used. There are modifications with and without a flashlight, laser.
The weapon is small in size and can be easily carried in a jacket pocket. Can be used as a flare gun and fire flares into the air. The unit has almost no recoil. "Sorcerer" is convenient to use for self-defense. It can be quickly removed from the safety lock and immediately put into use.
However, it has a number of disadvantages. It has poor ergonomics and less than ideal build quality. It happens that 13*50 caliber BAMs do not work in a pistol. It's not easy to hit an enemy in the face with a weapon.
"Pioneer"
The weapon is compact in size, designed for a couple of shots. The projectiles fly out of the muzzle at speeds of up to 90 meters per second. You will be able to hit the aggressor from a five-meter distance. The spare clip contains 2 cartridges. It has a durable body and has an additional magazine built into the handle.
Can be equipped with a laser sight. In addition to BAMs, it uses threaded cartridges. An adapter is used to adapt the projectiles.
There is an option where there is a laser designator. The device uses cans of caliber 18*51, 13*50 and 13*60. The kit includes 13*50, 13*60 must be purchased separately. Using the adapter, you can fire a hunter's signal, as well as flash-and-noise charges of the "Thunder" type. They are a good help against stray dogs.
The disadvantages of the pistol include the limited clip - you can only fire two shots. Previously there were difficulties with adapters and cassettes, but in new devices the problems have been resolved.
Due to the budget cost, the weapon has a short service life. Some parts wear out quickly, and it may be difficult to fix the clip.
"Dobrynya"
A five-shot pistol, as a rule, hits an attacker from three to four meters. But under favorable circumstances, you can stop the aggressor at a distance of 5 meters. The weapon handle contains five cans at once. The adapter makes it possible to use several calibers and signal shells at once.
The pistol body is made of lightweight, durable fiberglass. Therefore, the weapon lasts a long time. The unit works smoothly due to the presence of a striking mechanism made of metal of proper quality. The standard weapon life is 1000 activations. In this regard, you can buy a pistol and BAMs once. You no longer need to spend money on self-defense for a long time.
"Udar" M2
The device appeared on the market in 2008. It uses “short” 13*50 caliber cartridges. This is an effective and easy to use pistol. You can fire five salvos. It weighs little, is compact, and is comfortable to hold in your hand. Previously, Udars were characterized by distortions of the cartridges in the body; today this defect has been eliminated.
History of creation
In the 80s of the last century, the KGB had several similar types of weapons in service. It was a special liquid pistol “Violet”, and later, after technical processing and improvement, PSG “Jasmine”. The purpose of the pistols was to detain persons while acting in populated, crowded places. Which, in principle, is logical, since firing firearms there was very risky. In order to fire from the above models, special, appropriate ammunition was developed.
The so-called small-sized aerosol cartridges, which are designated by the abbreviation BAM, were used. They differ from special ammunition in that the concentration of the active substance in them is reduced. There is also no gunpowder, and the nozzle hole is slightly wider. The previously designated models were replaced by UDAR. There is no traumatic pistol in this modification on the market.
Self-defense product without a license UDAR
Currently, the issue of self-defense on the streets of cities and villages is acute.
But, fortunately, many different means of self-defense have been developed. In this article we will talk about the gas self-defense weapon UDAR, we will talk about its main characteristics, methods of use, where it can be purchased, as well as all the advantages and disadvantages of this means of self-defense.
UDAR - intended for dosed spraying of aerosols of an irritating nature. In fact, the name “UDAR” itself stands for “metered aerosol spray device.” The principle of operation of this weapon is based on a targeted shot of irritants at the enemy.
FAQ on IMPACT

:
FAQ.
- What is this feature anyway, how does it work and how does it work?
- The legal side of wearing and purchasing.
- Its pros and cons.
- But in general, whoever used this thread is it worth taking?
1. What is this feature anyway?
UDAR (Metered Aerosol Spray Device) is a pathetic imitation of a gas pistol. It is a handle into which cartridges are inserted. Its peculiarity is the absence of a trunk. Therefore, the cartridge is a gas cartridge and at the same time a barrel. Magazine capacity (handle) - 5 rounds. It shoots a jet of liquid (hence the name and the difference from simple gas pistols). There are 2 types of cartridges. Type 1 - training. Instead of poison - water. Type 2 - gas. There are 2 types of gas. With CS and pepper. It is recommended to charge through one: CS/pepper/CS/pepper/CS
(if you want to train, then instead of a fight, it is recommended to go to “Neptune’s Day” )
2. The legal side of wearing and acquiring.
UDAR is on free sale, and you can buy it after 18 years, without any permission to carry/storage/use and anything else...
3. Its pros and cons.
Well, let's start with the pros (fortunately there are few of them
- Small sizes.
- Absolutely silent.
- Because shoots a jet of liquid, it can be used in enclosed spaces without fear for your health.
- The jet flies 3-4 meters.
Now the cons.
- Plastic case (no comments)
- The trigger is made through uh-uh... In short, crooked, i.e. left => you can only shoot with your right hand. Lefties - call me...
- Appearance - nothing. There is a complete lack of intimidating effect. The attacker will quickly die of laughter looking at this device.
- Very high price of one shot (1 cartridge costs ~5-10% of the cost of the pistol itself, i.e. slightly less than $1, which is approximately equal to the cost of a gas canister).
- Because shoots a jet of liquid, it is very important - you need to aim.
4. In general, if anyone has used this thread, is it worth taking it?
Well, its use promised me the possibility of placing a wooden box on my head, and if it weren’t for my jogging... Another person on the contrary was able to subdue a drunken gop with the help of a BLOW.
So, the opinion of the author of the FAQ is that instead of BLOW, it is cheaper and more compact (without loss of combat qualities) to buy a pepper spray. BAMFAQ

HIT
- a means of self-defense, a kind of analogue of a gas pistol. It is superior in efficiency to gas pistols, thanks to a departure from the standard design. BLOW is something like a wide pistol grip, with a “pedal” located on the left. When you press the pedal, the firing pin hits the BAM primer, which ignites and pushes the piston, which splashes out the irritant. The IMPACT can charge a maximum of 5 BAMs. The range of the splashing liquid depends on the BAM, and is equal to 2-6 meters.
Advantages:
- Silence
- No gas cloud (you can shoot indoors in a headwind)
- Relative range and dispersion of the shot
- Large amount and concentration of substance splashed out at once
Disadvantages:
- Almost impossible to use with your left hand, thumb trigger
- Despite the design designed for reliability, the quality of both the IMPACTS themselves and the BAMs is very poor.
- When taken out, it may get caught in your pocket (so do not carry the BLOW in your pocket)
- BAMs are expensive - about a dollar apiece
No permission is required to purchase and carry UDAR. However, it can only be purchased by persons over 18 years of age, and with a passport. The passport details and number of the UDAR sold to you will be transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. However, this is not the case everywhere.
BAM
—
Balloon
A,
aerosol
, small
-sized, cartridge for BLOW. It is a metal or plastic cylinder 60 mm long and 13 mm thick, with a capsule at one end. BAMs contain different types of irritants. It is highly recommended that expired BAMs be thrown away rather than loaded into UDAR. 5 BAMs cost $5, and dentures cost $400 each.
If it is indicated that they are sold in a box of n pieces, this does not mean that they are not sold individually. Field tests of BAMs were carried out outdoors. The BAM was shot at a wall from a distance of 2 m. If someone was “lucky enough” to test its effect on living targets, this is also indicated. As a result, the number of points is assigned according to a 5-point system.
BAM - 2.000 - 01
Marking: black end Active ingredient: MPC 6% Temperature: -15+40 Manufacturer: Kirovsky OJSC Certificate of Conformity: POCC RU.SA02.H00287 valid until 07/01/99 (?) Temperature range: from -15 to +40 C
The cartridges are made of metal, sold in a plastic box of 10 pieces. I have not tested this type of BAM, but reviews of the Kirov BAMs are generally positive.
Result of actual use: Used on a drunk idiot. The first BAM misfired, the second one worked, the jet was somewhat frail and narrow, although it worked normally. (applied by: Dmitry Ostroukhov)
BAM - 2.000 - 04C
Marking: Black-blue end Active ingredient: Mixture of 6% MPK with blue dye Manufacturer: PKP AKBS LLC, Nizhny Novgorod Certificate of conformity: ROSS RU.SA02.B00711 Temperature range: from -15 to +40 C
Cartridges in a metal case, sold in cellophane packaging of 5 pieces. The dye is intended to color the attacker's face and make the police's task easier.
Field Test Result: Quite a small amount of pale dye substance. Grade: **
BAMP (pepper)
Marking: Red end Active ingredient: 150 mg OS Manufacturer: TsNIITM RUSSIA Certificate of conformity: ROSS RU.SA02.B00718 Temperature range: from -20 to +50 C
Cartridges in a black plastic case, sold 5 pieces in a plastic box. Only the amount of irritant is indicated, and the concentration is unknown. A plastic cartridge is bad because it can leak, but good because it is not detected by a metal detector. The nozzle is quite wide, so the range is lower and the dispersion, on the contrary, is higher.
Field test result: Left a fairly large stain of orange oily droplets. Grade: ****
Result of real application: Parked the car at 12 at night. One guy, about 20 years old, very drunk, began to behave extremely aggressively for no apparent reason, pestering a middle-aged woman. I had to use a BAM with pepper from a distance of about 1-2m. The effect is as follows: the drunk from trying to jump at me with his fists within just a few seconds bent over and crawled away on his hands and knees somewhere. (applied by: Vsevolod Nikolsky)
I had a chance to experience IMPACT on a dog. Something like a shepherd, type - an ordinary garage dog. She jumped out of the gateway and bit her on the shoe. I went for a second pass and fired at a distance of just over one and a half meters. A fairly wide (30 cm, maybe a little more) stream with small orange drops formed. The semblance of a cloud hung there for a little more than a second, then dissipated. The dog most likely managed to inhale, so he became completely unresponsive: he whined and stomped in one place, poking his muzzle into the ground. (applied by: Dmitry Ostroukhov)
BAM - 4.000 - X
Marking: Green plastic case. Temperature range: from -15 to +40. Certificate POCC RU.SA02.BOO710 Manufacturer - PKP AKBS LLC, N. Novgorod
Sold in cellophane packaging of 5 pieces. Their quality is very unimportant, like those from Nizhny Novgorod in general, the capsule is inserted differently for everyone...
Noise effect.
Test result: Of the two cartridges, one sparkled brightly and that was it, the second slammed very unconvincingly. Louder than a child's piston, but noticeably quieter than a car exhaust. If you hit a sleeping cop in the ear, maybe he’ll wake up. No more. Of the 6 cartridges, only 2 popped, the rest simply sparkled. Moreover, 3 of them spread in the opposite direction and had to be pulled out by hand. After examining all 6 cartridges, I came to the conclusion that the cause of the misfire is a pressure leak around the primer (or the plug is strong), as a result of which the plug does not knock out, and the capsule, along with the seal, moves out. And their sound is really like a firecracker. However, that’s how they were made. In general, it is unacceptable for a “psychological” impact. At least in a plastic case - it won’t fly off after a misfire. We need to look for blanks in the metal...
Grade: *
BAM with CR
Marking: ??? Active quantity: 0.02 g CR Manufacturer: State Unitary Enterprise GITOS, Shikhany, Saratov region Certificate POCC RU.SA02.H00382 TU 7188-101-00210045-97 Temperature range: ???
Test result: Yesterday evening I decided to test IMPACT for its effect on a drunk person. Fired 2 shots at the fence, the 1st from about 2.5 m, did not find the liquid stain, the 2nd was already at a distance of 1 meter, the stain had a pronounced elliptical shape, elongated in the vertical plane, with a diameter of approximately 200-150 mm. I went over the spot with my hand, anointed my cheek, I didn’t feel any pain, I anointed the other cheek, my lip, more specifically. After about 0.5-1 minutes. pain appeared, quite sharp, but quite tolerable (in the sense that I did not scream and did not roll on the ground in pain), reminiscent of the pain from a burn with steam or boiling water, superficial. Feeling tired, he hobbled to the pump, began to rinse his face with water (he didn’t rub his face with his hands), under the running water the pain completely subsided for a few seconds. After 5-7 minutes I realized that this rubbish was not washed off my face, I went to a convenience store to buy vodka, after wiping and rinsing my face, the pain began to gradually subside, after 30 minutes it felt like a strong burning sensation. In the morning, after washing, the slight burning sensation resumed and continued throughout the day, locally, moving from one point to another. I discovered a very unpleasant feature; a friend who was present, despite all this disgrace, also received his share. Although I didn’t get under the jet, I didn’t touch the liquid. The weather was calm, apparently aerosols entered the cloud, and therefore there is a suspicion that this thing is not recommended for use in enclosed spaces. In general, I was satisfied with the experiment, although I expected a slightly better result; the biggest criticism was the significant delay before the substance began to act on the client. If I can cover my eyes during the shot, I’ll give the person who shot at me 3.14 bullets, so he’ll remember it for a long time... Therefore, this device can only be used under the condition of “modifying it with your hands.” There is an idea to use IMPACT on a client in light clothing, in the groin area. After I scratched what they were scratching when I went out onto the porch, I really regretted it, apparently the fumes had seeped through my jeans.

OS - Oleoresin Capcicum
Mark on ammunition: Red Butt (BAM) Extract from special varieties of red pepper. Typically a 5% or 6% oil solution of OS is used; 9% and 10% solutions are also found. Contact of OS solution on the mucous membrane (eyes, lips) and even on the skin causes a strong and long-term (20 min) burning sensation.
Pros:
It is quite effective, due to its low volatility it can be used even in an elevator, it affects drunk people and its smell repels dogs, it has a long-lasting effect.
Cons:
At temperatures below -20, it loses its properties. It does not begin to act immediately, but after some time - 5-20 seconds upon contact with the eyes, up to a minute upon contact with the mucous membrane, and from 5 to infinity minutes upon contact with the skin.
If affected, gargle with a 20% solution of ethyl alcohol or vodka. It is not recommended to wash your eyes. When you try to wash it off with water, the effect only intensifies. You can also apply a dry cold compress.
I tested the effect of capsicum on myself in a state of strong alcoholic intoxication - I sprayed it on my finger and smeared it on the inside of my nose and lip. The effect came after 30 seconds, and for about 5 minutes it was quite tolerable... But then it was very painful for about 20 minutes. This means that if you happen to hit a drunk with it, don’t expect an immediate effect, unless it gets in the eyes.
MPC - Pelargonic Acid Morpholide
Mark on ammunition: Black or blue end (BAM) A synthetic analogue of OS, however, slightly different in properties. My personal research has shown it to be more volatile and slightly less effective. If the MPC is affected, act in the same way as the OS is affected.
CN - Chloroacetophenone, phenacyl chloride, chloroacetylbenzene
Tear gas. If inhaled, it irritates the respiratory tract, causing coughing; if it gets into the eyes, it causes active lacrimation. Also known as "Bird cherry"
Pros:
Effective in cold weather.
Cons:
Ineffective, volatile, easy to take yourself, does not affect drunks and dogs.
If damaged, wait until it evaporates on its own.
CS - Orthochlorobenzalidene Malonodinitrile, 2-chlorobenzyldene malonodinitrile, etc.
A more effective analogue of CN. It has a teratogenic effect, that is, it causes congenital genetic abnormalities in the offspring.
CR — Dibenz[v,f]oxazepine (Cu-Ap)
Colorless crystals, melting point 72*C. OM has a strong tear effect (an intolerable concentration of 0.0002 mg/l with an exposure of 1 min.) Its properties are similar to the two previous substances, but to achieve the effect it requires five times less than CS.
Vladimir Kolegov:
I don't completely agree with this description. Firstly, CR is not a lachrymator, but at least a mixed-action agent (like CS), and for example, at our institute, during the course of military toxicology, it was generally classified as a separate group of irritating agents (shockogenic or something like that sort of, although it could have been our teacher’s HO). Secondly, I highly doubt that it could have been certified for civilian use. Its toxic effect is small, but people in poor health can curl their fins under its influence only from the painful effect.
Andrey Tryapitsyn (who shot the BAM with the inscription CR):
A colorless, odorless liquid (for warrant officers - not MPC, not CS and not OS, I recognize these in any condition). With the remnants of what was in the sleeve, I anointed it near the eye (under the lower eyelid), the edge of the lip, behind the ear and the elbow (a couple of drops smeared on the finger were enough for everything, a little more got on the elbow). The results are instant hellish, fucking pain all over your face. It hit me so hard that my first thought was that the beast scribe and the holy scribe had arrived. It was beyond my strength to open my eyes properly. Escaped to the bathroom (immediately), washed my face [with soap and water]x2, wiped with pure alcohol and vodka one at a time. Results - after ~7 minutes the pain subsided a little and I was able to open my eyes. The face was completely gone in ~20 minutes. After the same 7 minutes, my elbow began to burn. At first it is not severe, but at the 10th minute there is severe pain, like a real burn. Touching is even more painful. It hurts every now and then (~30 minutes). When you wet the skin (at least anywhere) the pain intensifies. The entire affected area and around there is severe redness. Sniffing the cartridge, it tingles slightly in the nose. I don’t know how the tear effect works, I was smart enough not to check.
A. Nazarov:
Make sure that BAMs are not expired! So, if BAM is stored for more than three years, instead of a tear effect, you can only get a faint smell of rotten eggs. This is typical for both pepper and CS-equipped BAMs. However, it would be better to update BAMs more often than once every three years
Violet cartridge with irritating liquid for PSG “Jasmine”, training cartridge for PSG “Jasmine”, cartridges with metal and plastic sleeves for IMPACT |
S.G.
:
The pyro-liquid device “Udar”, nee PSG “Jasmine”, actually fires “BAM” cartridges at a distance of up to 3 m, the shot is a narrow cone (torch) of small splashes of chemical agents. There are with CN, with CS, with pepper and inert (without chemical agents) training ones. PSG was designed by order of the KGB of the USSR, and only recently hit the shelves under the name UDAR. “Udar” with “Violet” cartridges actually shoots at 10-15 m with a thin stream of explosive agent, but at such a range it is very difficult to hit without training, because the device itself has a very inconvenient, to say the least, design, but is superior in terms of destruction efficiency traditional gas pistols. Similar pyro-liquid cartridges have been developed for the 12 mm Udar assault revolver. The cartridges have a piston design, with a gas cut-off, the shot is almost silent.
Let me make a reservation right away: “Violet” cartridges are difficult to obtain, because they are not intended for civilian use, since their characteristics greatly exceed the norms permitted by law. And nowadays they are practically not on sale, although it happened before, and in stores they were instantly bought up by knowledgeable people. BAM cartridges differ from Violet in a lower concentration of agent and its different formulation, a smaller weight of gunpowder and a larger diameter of the nozzle hole, which was done to deteriorate their characteristics and bring them in accordance with the law for civilian weapons (metered aerosol spray devices), by the way not requiring permission as for a gas worker. The violet has a metal tombac sleeve with a cone on the capsule side. Violet cartridges were developed for special forces, to detain persons armed with firearms in crowded places where it is forbidden to shoot with military weapons, which may indicate their effectiveness.
Which is better: a gas or an aerosol gun?
Today there is a wide selection of different weapons on the market used for self-defense. Therefore, it is not easy to understand which option is right for you if you do not know what types of self-defense means exist and what their features are. Gas pistols are quite effective, but with all the advantages they also have disadvantages:
- in order to buy them and use them in the future, you need to obtain permission, which is issued by the internal affairs authorities;
- gas mechanisms are not budgetary;
- their shot is too weak and does not guarantee complete neutralization of the aggressor.
Sometimes, in order to stop an opponent's aggressive actions, you need to repeatedly aim at him. But there is a weapon that makes neutralizing an aggressor simple and effective. If you want to quickly purchase an inexpensive means of self-defense, then an aerosol gun is for you!
