Junker air rifles - made on the basis of a real Kalashnikov

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you took the appearance and design of a Kalashnikov assault rifle and crossed them with the technical characteristics of the Makarov MP-654K air pistol? That’s right, we’ll get a “Junker” airsoft rifle, characterized by reliability, resistance to mechanical damage, and a low risk of injury.

Review of Junker air rifles

The first trial model, which later received the name “Junker-1” and was produced for a short time (from 1998 to 2001), was internally equipped with an Izh-671 Cornet pistol. Due to the peculiarities of its design, the fuse was not used at all and served only as decoration. And they had to shoot not from a machine gun barrel, but from a ramrod, empty inside. To prevent the bullet from touching the flame arrester, the ramrod even had to be bent slightly.

The engineers decided to correct the shortcomings by using the MP-654K valve pistol as the firing device. He allowed the use of a machine gun barrel for shooting, as well as the use of a safety lock. These are the Junker-2 (based on the AK-105) and Junker-3 (based on the AKS-74M) models, which differ in overall length and weight.

And the Junker-4 model (the most modern, created on the basis of the AK-74M) boasts a more capacious magazine for 30 bullets (instead of 18, as before), located in the horn of the machine gun. In addition, the valve mechanism is built into the breech of the rifle, which reduces gas leaks.

Now you can click the shutter, just like an AK. A modification of the fourth model is available with both a standard (long) and a short barrel (31.4 centimeters).

All modifications are designed to fire iron explosive balls, which are pushed out of the barrel by the energy of compressed carbon dioxide contained in a can (12 or 8 grams).

Advantages and disadvantages

Positive qualities of Junker rifles:

  • The rifles are based on real Kalashnikovs and are not copies. Externally similar to military weapons, all marks are preserved. And you don’t need permission to own and carry.
  • The fire transfer device and the bolt frame can move, and the device can be disassembled.
  • Possibility of not very complicated tuning that increases the rate of fire.
  • The valve mechanism, especially in the latest modifications, is quite reliable.

Negative qualities:

  • The barrel is not rifled, but smooth - as a result, the accuracy is low.
  • Large weight and bulkiness, inconvenient charging of balls.
  • The power is rather weak.
  • Presence of carbon dioxide leaks during speed-reducing shots.
  • Tight and long descent.

Purpose

The manufacturer positions its products for training and entertainment, as well as for target practice and acquiring skills in assembling and disassembling military weapons. For growing youth - just right.

After all, an air rifle can be disassembled like a real Kalashnikov. In addition, it is similar in weight and dimensions to him, so you can train to the fullest while wearing a machine gun. These rifles are also purchased by collectors, as well as those who like the design of the Kalashnikov assault rifle.

The main purpose of the tactical handguard "Dominator" for AK/Saiga/Vepr

Pneumatic automatic machine Junker-4

The design of the rifle is made almost exactly in accordance with its comrade in arms. Junker-4 fits comfortably in the hands, the stock is easy to use, folding, and can be removed when experiencing inconvenience or in limited space. The metal parts of the rifle are coated with black oxidation, which gives it military strength and protection against corrosion. The stock, fore-end and handle are made of high-strength synthetic material. A good analogue of the Kalashnikov will appeal to fans of this weapon and patriots.

The ammunition for Junker-4 is spherical metal bullets of 4.5 mm caliber, which are fired by compressed gas placed in a cylinder - a standard scheme that will save you from constantly charging the spring, but has its drawback - it is a consumable material - CO2 cylinders .

The trigger mechanism is self-cocking, double action. The Junker-4 can use 8 and 12 gram canisters; it is better to use larger ones - they are enough for a larger number of shots.

The rifle is equipped with an adjustable sector sight and a standard military scope mount located on the left side of the receiver. The optics for such an “automatic machine” are unlikely to be suitable, but the red dot sight is very suitable.

The firing speed of the Junker-4 rifle is low, about 80-90 m/s (some pistols produce more), but this is a Kalashnikov! Just right for the amateur and for the collection.

Device

Let us describe the newest model - Junker-4. It has a folding stock made of black durable plastic. The handle, magazine and forend are made of the same material. The smooth barrel and body are made of metal, they are oxidized and black in color.

The butt folds to the left (to do this, press the button on the side). A tool case is inserted into the back of the butt. On the left side of the barrel box there is a device with which you can install optics.

The trigger mechanism here is double, which allows for only single shots - it won’t be possible to fire bursts. Sector sight. The safety lever on the base AK is used to move the rifle to and from the firing position.

Junker-4: first review

Added to the Library

. I came across in the magazine “World of Weapons” dated September 24 this year. I’ll tell you briefly and add personal impressions.

1) Made on the basis of the same AK-105, no different from the Junker-2 assembly according to the photo.

2) It does NOT shoot in bursts, as everyone expected (sic!)

3) Magazine capacity - 30 balls.

4) The changes affected only the gas-cylinder unit. Let me remind you that the old MP841 gas cylinder unit was made in the form of a frame-case into which the cylinder is screwed and bullets are poured, and a plastic casing, and in general this assembly is a one-piece magazine. It can be equipped in advance and put into the unloading, and, if necessary, immediately join.

The new monstrosity is made like this: the frame-housing is tightly pressed into the receiver, that is, it will always stick out outside in place of the magazine of the Junker-4. Next, the cylinder is inserted into it and held by a lever mechanism. A guide the size of a thick fountain pen is inserted into the plastic casing, bullets are poured into it, and this structure is put on top of the body frame and held in place by a standard machine gun latch.

5) This “fountain pen”, in which the bullets are five centimeters longer than the magazine (sic!) and, accordingly, protrudes the same 5 cm from the edge where the magazine adjoins the weapon. This assembled monstrosity will not fit into any unloader, and if it knocks, it will break off IMHO. Yes, and carrying a relatively heavy Yu-2 magazine while unloading is much more pleasant than some kind of plastic. You will have to carry the cylinders separately and the magazines separately. You can't do a couple of stores. And not like now - you filled the magazines, put them in the unloading, the bullet cylinder ran out - added a new one and continued fighting.

Comparative photos of the triggers of both Junkers are given. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kalabynin releases a mod that allows you to convert “U2” into “U4”, but in my right mind I wouldn’t do that!

5) The passport specifications are exactly the same as those of all other Junkers (sic!)

The Junker-5, which will go into production after the Yu-4, it is unknown when, will be made on the basis of the AK-74. It will differ from Yu-3 in exactly the same way that Yu-4 differs from Yu-2. that is, the innovative innovation just described.

My impressions: ugliness and more ugliness. It’s good that I have a “two” and there are plenty of stores. Maybe I’ll buy more stores, otherwise it will become a rarity soon.

people, maybe someone will post scans of the above-mentioned images, or maybe someone has photos.

I have Yu-3 and love it.

I took the Yu-4 for myself - which was pleasantly impressive - it’s combat plastic (from the AK-74M)!

Apparently I was lucky - the ebb under the front sight of the bayonet-knife sight turned out to be unsawed.

Also on the sight block there is an IZH sign - an arrow!

The serial number is marked with a dot notch!

Of course, only the valve mechanism is ugly, but otherwise, in terms of combat authenticity, when compared in detail with the Yu-3, the Junker 4 is better!

Disassembly

Disassembly of Junker rifles occurs in the following order:

  1. We remove the automatic horn in which the magazine is located.
  2. After removing the cover from the receiver, we take out the return spring.
  3. Now the shutter can be removed.
  4. We remove the gas outlet pipe, for which you will have to use a key.
  5. That's it - now you can carry out the necessary procedures (lubrication, cleaning), and then put it back together in exactly the same way.

The video shows the disassembly of the Junker air rifle:

Upgrade

Let us immediately warn you that it will not be possible to convert the rifle back into a real Kalashnikov (and it is illegal). The manufacturers took too many precautions: they perforated the barrel three times and placed a plug in the breech tightly. So that there is no temptation.

But it is quite possible to increase the speed of an ejected steel ball. To do this, just change the spring at the corner striker of the valve stem. And to eliminate carbon dioxide leaks, weak spots can be sealed with silicone.

It is also possible to order a ready-made kit for upgrading a rifle from professionals who grind all the parts on machines (which is not possible to do at home). This kit increases the speed of bullets to more than 200 meters per second. It includes: a chamber expander with a gasket, a liner with a bushing inserted into the breech of the barrel, a locking bushing with an increased cross-section.
