PP-19 Bison - video
PP-19 Bison submachine gun at the Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant with the aim of arming the Ministry of Internal Affairs with modern small-sized automatic small arms to replace the AKS-74U. At the same time, the PP-19 itself is designed and produced with a large volume of parts from the Kalashnikov AK-74 assault rifle. These parts include a shortened AK-74 receiver with a pistol grip fire control and firing mechanism, as well as a metal folding stock borrowed from the AKS-74 assault rifle. The PP-19 Bison submachine gun is distinguished by its original auger magazine with a capacity of 64 rounds for the PP-19 Bison-2 chambered for 9×18 PM and 53 rounds for the PP-19 Bison-2-01 chambered for 9×19 Parabellum. This store was created partly on the basis of the American Calico submachine gun. At the same time, the PP-19 magazine is placed on the weapon with great convenience for the shooter and combines the function of the forend.
The magazine is located under the barrel, does not increase the dimensions of the submachine gun and serves as a handguard to hold the weapon when firing. For ease of carrying and transportation, the submachine gun has a folding stock. There are two options for the buttstock - a frame butt that folds onto the left side or an upper buttstock that folds onto the receiver cover. The design of the submachine gun allows firing with the butt folded. The Bison is perfectly adapted for use in combination with silent shooting devices and modern fire control devices. A side rail is provided for installing collimator, optical and night sights.
The automatic operation of the PP-19 Bison submachine gun operates based on the use of recoil with a blowback bolt. Trigger mechanism of hammer type. To increase the accuracy of single shots, shooting is carried out from a closed bolt. The trigger and fuse are borrowed from the AK-74. The PP-19 Bison is fed with cartridges from a high-capacity auger magazine, which is a long cylinder with spiral guides for cartridges. The cartridges in the PP-19 magazine are placed in a spiral, parallel to its axis, with bullets forward. The cartridges are fed by a spring, which is cocked separately, making it possible to store magazines loaded with cartridges with the spring not cocked. To use the magazine, the spring is cocked using a rotating handle located at the front end of the magazine. Sights, like those of the AK, consist of a horizontally adjustable, for zeroing, front sight protected by a front sight and an adjustable rear sight.
The PP-19 Bison submachine gun has such advantages as short length and height with a large magazine capacity, a fairly convenient full-fledged folding stock, high firepower, reliability in difficult operating conditions, high accuracy during instinctive shooting, stability when firing with one and two hands in short bursts, ease of holding and good control when shooting, as well as the use of silencers and sights to solve special problems. Among the disadvantages are the rather large mass of the weapon with a loaded magazine, imbalance as cartridges are used up, as well as high gas pollution in the shooter’s face when using a silencer. However, in general, the PP-19 Bison submachine gun is an effective and convenient melee weapon, especially in tandem with such domestic cartridges as 7N31 (PBP) in 9x19 caliber and 7N25 (PBM) in 9x18 PM caliber.
Options
Bison-1 is a variant with a front sight from the SVD rifle, a sector sight with three divisions at 50-100-150 m, a cocking handle on the right and a butt folding to the left from the AKS74U. Pistol grip - standard, from AKS74U (made of brown plastic);
Bison-2 is a variant chambered for 9x18 mm cartridges, has a front sight from a Kalashnikov assault rifle, a sector sight with three divisions at 50-100-150 meters, a cocking handle on the right and a butt folding to the left from the AKS74U. The pistol grip is from a Kalashnikov “100 series” assault rifle (made of black polyamide). Adopted by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in 1996. By 2002, the Bizon-2 was also equipped with a folding shoulder rest;
Bizon-2B - version with a silencer;
Bison-2-01 - chambered for 9x19 mm Parabellum cartridge;
Bison-2-02 - chambered for 9×17 mm;
Bizon-2-03 - with a built-in silencer chambered for 9x18 mm cartridge;
Bizon-2-04 - self-loading version chambered for 9x18 mm;
Bizon-2-05 - self-loading version chambered for 9x19 mm;
Bizon-2-06 - self-loading version chambered for 9x17 mm;
Bizon-2-07 - chambered for 7.62x25 mm TT cartridge (when using box magazines, a forend must be installed on the submachine gun);
Bison-3 is a variant with a Kalashnikov assault rifle front sight, a diopter sight, a folding stock and the ability to install a silencer. Cocking the bolt is provided by a protrusion on the top of the receiver.
PP-19-01 "Vityaz" - a variant of the PP-19 with a 30-round sector magazine chambered for 9x19 mm, developed in 2004. It is used to arm patrol services, traffic police, internal security, and units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. It is possible to install a muffler.
Since 2008, it has been mass-produced in two versions:
PP-19-01 “Vityaz” version 10 - based on the AKS74U, with a wooden forend and a reversible sight for 100/200 m;
PP-19-01 “Vityaz-SN” isp.20 - based on the AK-105, with a black polyamide forend, sector sight, improved ergonomics (due to the placement of the safety and bolt handle on the left side), and a Picatinny rail on the receiver cover boxes; The short-barreled service weapon "KSO-1" is a prototype of a self-loading modification of the PP-19 for private security structures chambered for a 9x17 mm cartridge (with a 10-round box magazine). It is not certified as a service weapon and was not mass-produced.
The IZH 9x19 “Vityaz” sports training carbine is a self-loading modification of the PP-19-01 with a 10-round magazine, presented in July 2010 at the International Exhibition of Armaments of the Ground Forces (“MVSV-2010”, Moscow).
The Saiga-9 self-loading carbine is another conversion version of the PP-19-01 Vityaz-SN with a 10-round magazine, presented in September 2012 at the exhibition “Russian Hunting and Sporting Goods - 2012” (“ROST-2012” , Izhevsk)
The use of weapons in the modern world
Various performances that are not available in ordinary civilian life are available in computer and online tactical games. One of the popular items is the souvenir PP-19 “Bison”.
In fact, conventional weapons are used to protect citizens, because according to the tactical and technical characteristics, firing efficiency is achieved at a range of up to 100 m, and firing is possible at a distance of 200 m. The Vityaz SMG has the highest rate of fire - 750 rounds per minute.
Weaponry is developing rapidly and takes into account all the requirements necessary for modern society. Therefore, there is a very high probability of creating a new submachine gun based on one of the existing Bison models.

The Silverblack and AK software have in common:
- Lever.
- Butt.
- Trigger guard safety mechanism.
- Translator.
- Trigger guard.
The outer barrel and flash suppressor are radically different, but the universal thread allows the installation of various silencers and flash suppressors.

Well, they are slowly replacing it.
Only on PP-2000. It doesn’t seem to suit the Bison very well for the Policemen; there is no way to fully hold it with one hand. Reply | Reply with quote | Quote 0 Rusov 04/04/2017 16:16 I read the comments, some smart people wrote that the Bison is an unsuccessful answer to the P-90, can anyone explain why the P-90 is better than the Bison? If you compare the caliber, the P-90 has better penetration than the Bison 9x18, but it’s not for nothing that they made 2 more versions for 9x19 and 7.62x25

0 Vsevolod 04/04/2017 16:17 Here it would be better to evaluate the convenience of holding it in one hand, but here neither a bison nor a P-90 can somehow boast. But the AEK-918 boasts about this and calmly) But the bison has a longer barrel and even 9*18 of it hits far and hard.

0 Shestak 04/04/2017 16:18 For the gays and the operational task force, it’s more comfortable than “Ksyukha” for sure. Yes, and the 9 mm cartridge is in favor at least 100 meters, and traffic police are unlikely to encounter people in armored armor)) Enough cattle

For 100, front sights with a rear sight are quite enough.
And it was made with a focus on close combat (up to 150 meters), and in such cases the diopter does not roll, the advantage of such a sight is that it does not impair the view, and the diopter blocks all the white light. The simpler the weapon, the easier it is to maintain, repair and use!!! For professional and special units there are more than 60 types of special forces. weapons - used and the maintenance of which can only be carried out by a trained person!

0 Narushevich 04/04/2017 16:33 A good machine for certain tasks. a large supply of cartridges allows you to deliver a dense barrage of fire when necessary, the absence of a magazine magazine allows you to press it close to the surface, and apparently the balance is not bad

0 Jack 04/04/2017 16:37 “Vityaz” was created to replace “Bison” because of the allegedly low reliability of the augers, and not because of their inconvenience. Therefore, we returned to the traditional box magazine, which, by the way, is easier to load.
