PCP air rifle Hatsan Galatian 1 Carbine (4.5 mm, wood)

arbalet-airgun

The Turkish “Hatsan” has brought to the market new modifications of PCP rifles, which in appearance are practically no different from the popular Hatsan semi-automatic shotguns.

Among the new products of rifled long-barreled pneumatics there are many outright “replicas” of firearms. This is Dianovsky’s “Mauser K98”, and again the German (MWM Gillmann GmbH) 4.5-mm version of the SVD for “fake cartridges” with the “Diabolo” bullet, and others. The vast majority of them copy rifles, carbines and what we usually call machine guns (see “Pneumatic copies of military weapons”). Manufacturers do not particularly focus on smooth-bore shotguns, although there are exceptions. Compare:

The photo above shows a 12-gauge smoothbore shotgun "Hatsan Escort MP-TS", below - an air rifle with pre-pumping caliber 4.5 mm "Galatian TS-Carbine".

It is worth noting that the latter is precisely a carbine, that is, a version with a shortened barrel. Although in reality it is even slightly longer than the basic version of the “Galatian TS” (pictured):

The secret lies in the design of the carbine barrel. It is made using the latest technology, which has (“quiet energy”), which Hatsan now uses for traditional spring-piston fractures. For example, for the top series “mod 135 QE” or their younger brother “mod 87 QE”. In a nutshell, this is the use of a thick-walled barrel with an integrated muffler, which adds extra centimeters (in the bottom photo).

For unknown reasons, the Khatsanovites did not use the “QE” index for the Galatian carbines. But this does not change anything, the “quiet energy” remains quiet - the Turks here promise a 50% reduction in the volume of the shot.

This scheme was also used on previous versions that were well known to airgunners, from which the “TS” series is no different except for the exterior and ergonomic features (adjustable stock).

"Galatian II", "Galatian III" and "Galatian IV", all in "Carbine" version

The telescopic stock of the “TS” series is really convenient and allows you to vary the length within as much as 10 centimeters.

Otherwise, the tactical and technical characteristics of the “new” and “old” Galatians are the same. The declared speed indicators are:

— for .177 (4.5 mm) – 360 m/s

- for .22 (5.5 mm) - 333 m/s

- for .25 (6.35 mm) - 303 m/s.

Energy, respectively, 37, 53 and 60 Joules.

The number of charges in the drums also varies depending on the caliber:

— for .177 (4.5 mm) – 16

- for .22 (5.5 mm) - 14

- for .25 (6.35 mm) - 13.

The pressure in the tank for all models is 200 bar, the number of shots, again depending on the caliber, is 80, 70 and 60. The length for the “TS” version is from 955 to 1055 mm, for the “TS-Carbine” - from 980 to 1080 mm. Weight is about 4.2-4.3 kg.

And the other day there was an addition to the family of popular Turkish air rifles with pre-pumping “Galatian” - a new model “Tact Auto” (by the way, the hard case shown in the photo is included in the package of all the new products discussed below).

There is some inconsistency in the name, since in reality it refers to “semi-auto”, that is, not automatic, but semi-automatic weapons. With the exception of the semi-automatic mechanism, “Tact Auto” is no different from its brothers in the “tactical” TS line, which require manual reloading. However, its muzzle energy/velocity indicators are lower: - for .177 (4.5 mm) - 310 m/s (1020 fps) - for .22 (5.5 mm) - 288 m/s (950 fps) - for .25 (6.35 mm) – 265 m/s (870 fps) Energy, respectively, 27, 39.8 and 45 joules.

This circumstance is explained simply. “Hatsan” did not use a battery-powered electronic-mechanical device, as, for example, in a number of “Evanix” models, but a mechanism that resembles the principle of operation of a blowback bolt of a firearm. Only instead of powder gases, compressed air is used here. And naturally, part of the work is spent on recharging. For a firearm with its thousands of joules of energy, this does not matter at all, but pneumatics are pneumatics...

Simultaneously with the “Tact Auto”, the Khatsan team presented to the public semi-automatic versions of the classic Galatians - “Galatian 5 Auto” (in wood) and “Galatian 6 Auto” (in polymer) with the same performance characteristics.

Description of the Hatsan Galatian1 Carbine air rifle:

The Hatsan Galatian 1 Carbine air rifle is a converted carbine-type model from the Turkish one. This gun comes with pre-pumping of compressed air - PCP. The air reservoir is spacious and has a capacity of 255 cm³, which is enough to fire 70-80 shots without losing energy. The muzzle energy of the rifle when sold is 7.5 J, but it can be increased to 33 J. There is also a special system that prevents gas leakage if the gun is dropped or shaken, which is very practical and safe.

The product's drum holds 16 ammunition in the form of lead bullets, the caliber of which is 4.5 mm. When fired, the ammunition flies at a speed of 340 m/sec. In order to fire a shot at the intended target, you need to take aim, which will be facilitated by open-type sighting devices - a bar and a front sight with fiber-optic threads. However, you can also use a sight, which can be installed using a Weaver rail. The release mechanism is adjustable. At the same time, an automatic fuse will ensure safety when shooting.

The style and power Hatsan Galatian 1 Carbine rifle is expressed not only in the design, but also in all the details, ergonomic shape and design, strength and reliability, practicality and functionality. The model has a stylish and solid design, equipped with a pleasant varnished wooden stock, patterns on metal parts and smooth lines.

Solidity and reliability are also visible in the materials, where the butt of the gun is made of strong, dark-colored walnut wood. Its body is equipped with a thumb hole, and the rifle handle provides a comfortable, strong grip. The "Monte Carlo" cheek piece makes for comfortable aiming and is also adjustable. The design of the butt is suitable for use by both right-handed and left-handed people. The stock in the rear has a special compartment that holds spare drums. The stock also has belt mounts and a rubber butt pad, which reduces recoil and vibration when shooting.

The barrel of the model is shortened and equal to 450 mm, but there is a built-in silencer, and therefore the shot is fired with a quiet and soft sound. The barrel, made of weapon steel, is equipped with clear rifling inside, thanks to which the ammunition flies out with decent speed, excellent accuracy and accuracy. The weight of the rifle is 4.05 kg with its entire length of 1100 mm.

Hatsan Galatian1 Carbine configuration arsenal consists of a rifle, 2 drum magazines, a fitting for pumping the tank, a set of gaskets (spare parts), a belt, a plastic case and a passport with instructions.

Design

The entire range of Hatsan Galatian rifles is made according to the same principle. The only difference can be found in the layout of the forend and stock, which does not in any way affect the tactical and technical characteristics. Here are the main design features that the manufacturer himself recommends paying attention to:

  1. The gas cylinder is tightly screwed into the receiver and connected to a pressure gauge. This feature allows you to always see the number of atmospheres in the tank, but significantly complicates the process of replacing the energy source in the event of a breakdown.
  2. The forend and butt are made separately and also have different fastening systems. To perform partial disassembly, you will have to remove either the forend or the butt. Well, to make the structure seem more monolithic, a special rubber ring is used.
  3. The butt plate is adjustable. This is done so that shooters with short stature or thin build can adjust the position of the butt to suit themselves. The system significantly improves the ergonomics of the weapon.

As for the material from which the rifle is made, it is worth paying attention to high-quality weapons-grade steel - its main pride. Due to the fact that the barrel and other metal parts are made of material with a high carbon content that has undergone cold forging, the models have a longer service life.

Greetings! This topic will review this rifle. I’ll tell you with photographs how to assemble it, what problem areas there may be and a short description of this device.
Galatian, unlike its predecessors PCP (AT44 and VT65), has a solid receiver, which has “common roots” with the Escort firearm model. There is a fin and a weaver; many Chinese rings fit askew on the weaver.. The boxes may contain different pieces of shit. Turks.

===================================================== ======= The trigger mechanism looks like the Escort, only the safety is different, and it also has a mechanism that prevents the striker from rebounding. In previous models, this mechanism was located between the receiver itself and its lower part.

BEFORE USING IT IS NECESSARY TO POLISH THE RUBBING PARTS!!! And chamfer the edges of the sear. ===================================================== =======

The tank was taken from the VT65 model, without any changes. Aluminum alloy, anodized, diameter 34.8-35mm, wall 3.5mm. Volume 250 cm3 In the area of the rear plug there is a decrease in diameter; the rear plug itself also differs from the front one - it has a smaller thread diameter.

=========================================================

The magazine is in 4.5 caliber 16 rounds and is rotated when cocked by the striker. The cocking mechanism itself is similar to previous versions and some Logun models. The scheme is the same, the differences are in the execution of the parts.

===================================================== ======= Barrel diameter 15.4-15.5. The mounting diameter is 15mm, secured with two M5 screws on top of the receiver. Can be posted ============================================================== ========== The striker is quite complex, partly turned, partly milled for USM. weight about 75 grams. The adjusting screw is located in the firing pin, therefore, in order to “wind it up with power”, you need to unscrew this screw.

===================================================== ====== Weight 3.9 kg, length 107 cm.

===================================================== ============ It is cocked using a lever, perhaps this is the most massive cocking lever on commercially produced PCPs

==============================================================

The stock is secured with one M6 screw from the back of the box. Has adjustable cheek and butt pad. In the stock there is a place for attaching a second magazine.

The forend is attached with 4 screws to the receiver; it also contains a figure eight, or rather half of it, which is not rigidly connected to the reservoir.

===================================================== ====== It is choked by the bushing in the bypass, the trigger in some variants needs to be improved (there are no chamfers, because of this it catches on the body in which it is located and does not always work)

Available in calibers from 4.5 to 6.35. But to be good, it would be from 6.35 onwards..

P.S. I'll continue

Possibilities for increasing power

In general, the issue of increasing power worries a fairly small percentage of Hatsan Galatian owners. However, the barrel of the weapon can withstand power up to 300 J, so an upgrade is possible, although it does not always make sense. Here are some ways:

  1. Provide the spring striker with a guide axis in order to prevent its deformation and increase the area of interaction with the trigger. The procedure is complex but effective.
  2. Improve the barrel chamfer - products with a poor-quality muzzle cut often lose 20 to 30 percent of power during a shot.
  3. Installing a gearbox will not only increase the power of the shot, but also improve the accuracy of the battle at long and medium distances.

Also, do not forget about traditional methods, for example, shortening the barrel length, replacing barrel gaskets with better ones, as well as using imported gun oil. All this, to one degree or another, increases the muzzle energy and increases the speed of the bullet.

Disassembling the Hatsan Galatian air rifle

Not every owner will be able to partially disassemble the Hatsan Galatian air rifle. That is why the manufacturer recommends following a certain algorithm of actions found in the instructions:

  1. Unscrew and remove the tank.
  2. Unscrew the four screws on the rifle body.
  3. We dismantle the front sight by unscrewing the cap on the barrel.
  4. We remove the forend and put it aside.
  5. We unscrew the butt cheek, sitting on the screws.
  6. Remove the rear spring support.
  7. We take out two pins from the box.
  8. We take out the trigger and trigger guard.

It is recommended to carry out maintenance of the rifle using the tools that come with the rifle. Reassembly must be done in reverse order. It is extremely important to handle small parts carefully so as not to damage them.
