Pistol KWC Colt 1911 Kimber Warrior CO2 GBB (KCB-77AHN)

SIS is not only a police department in the United States, but also an organization dedicated to the development of tactics and weapons. Only professionals in their field serve in it. They all basically have their own weapons, which they are used to and have worked with for a long time. So this organization bought a pistol called Kimber 1911 from the organization of the same name. This pistol was loaded with 45 caliber cartridges. The company produced about 160 units of such weapons. This all happened in 2002.

Kimber included

And in 2005, SWAT fighters introduced professionals from SIS to the Kimber organization. SIS then asked Kimber to make them a weapon that would meet their high specifications. This is how Kimber SIS was born. Four modifications of pistols for different tactical actions began to be assembled from it. By the seventh year, the company equipped all fighters with its weapons. She then began commercial production of pistols.

Performance characteristics of three Kimber pistol models

Today the company creates and produces four models:

  • The SIS Custom and SIS Custom/RL are powerful, full-length pistols;
  • SIS Pro is a small weapon. The pistol has a short frame and an equally short slide-casing. You can put up to 7 rounds in the magazine;
  • SIS Ultra is a compact pistol. Its magazine also holds 7 rounds, just like the Pro model.

Ultra45173760,8797

These weapons use steel frames and steel slides. Thanks to this, they received high reliability and a long service life. The bolt casing has a notch on the front and back. And the company employees rounded off all the sharp corners.

The barrel bushing is standard. Some sports pistols of this type are equipped with wide bushings. The pistols are famous for their shooting accuracy thanks to their light trigger. The trigger also works easily. You don't have to use too much force to pull the trigger.

The ergonomics of the weapon were excellent. So the wooden cheeks on the sides of the handle made it convenient to hold the pistol. During slight recoil, the pistol did not play in the palm of my hand, even with a weak grip.

The trigger was made of aluminum alloy. There were no relief holes or adjustment screw throughout the entire trigger mechanism. The force with which the shooter should press the trigger was 2.7 kg. This effort is considered the most optimal. It is not too light and not too heavy. Any special forces soldier felt safe with this pistol, judging by the reviews of American SWAT employees.

pistol grip

The pistol is equipped with a double-sided safety. Long levers allow you to use it quickly. One of them protects the shooter's finger from the trigger returning. It also allows you to hold the pistol stably while shooting.

The handle for holding the pistol is covered with small notches. They prevent your palm from slipping on the handle if your palms are very sweaty. Many shooters report the grips on this pistol as being the best of any pistol they have ever used.

Some modifications of the Kimber were equipped with a collimator sight. Each pistol came with three magazines.

There are more modern modifications of pistols from the Kimber company. They are more improved and are immediately equipped with a laser sight or a collimator sight. Some modifications have a commander-style firing pin. But almost everything is made of stainless steel. This is the main feature for pistols from the Kimber organization, which produces military weapons.

Is it true that the 1911 .45 caliber is an obsolete design?

“Of course, the 1911 is an outdated design. It comes from an era when guns were designed to win in battle, not to avoid product liability lawsuits. He came from an era where it was considered normal to learn how your weapon worked and practice using it until it became second nature, rather than reducing things to the lowest common denominator. It comes from an era when our country tried to equip our fighting men with the best tools possible, unlike today when fighting men and women are forced to use equipment approved because of international agreements or because the manufacturers are well connected in Congress. Without a shadow of a doubt, the 1911 is an outdated design, and that's why I love it."

Rosco S. Benson

Model 1911. Self-loading pistol chambered for .45 ACP. It was developed by John Moses Browning in 1910 for a competition announced by the US Army, whose experience in the Philippine Campaign showed that the .38 revolver did not have sufficient firepower. The 1911 prototype was designed specifically for .38 caliber, but Browning remade it for army order. On March 29, the automatic pistol, designed by Browning and produced by Colt, was introduced into service with the US Army and was named the Model 1911 (M1911).

Model A1. Experience of use during the First World War showed the reliability of the design and high combat qualities of the pistol, as well as some shortcomings related to ergonomics. Therefore, in 1926, minor ergonomic changes were made to the design:

  • the safety on the handle has been extended
  • The shape of the handle has been slightly changed
  • trigger shortened
  • The trigger guard has been reduced in size and has arched cutouts at the back.

The pistol was called Colt M1911 A1 Government Model (Government M1911 A1). Since then, no changes have been made to the design. Only some compact variants were added - "Commander" with a 108 mm long barrel with a standard handle and a magazine capacity of 7 rounds, and "Defender" (the designation "Officers' model" was also used) - with a 76 mm barrel and a shortened handle holding 6 rounds (however, it is possible to use standard long magazines with 7 rounds). In 1972, based on the Commander, the Rock Island Arsenal developed the M15 General Officers model pistol, which was adopted in the United States for senior officers and generals of the US Army and Navy.

The pistol was in service with the US Armed Forces for eighty years, from 1911 to 1990, for example, it was used during Operation Desert Storm.

Disadvantages of the 1911 (common to other pistols from the First World War):

  • significant weight and size (you'd think the Beretta 92 would be smaller or lighter!)
  • small magazine capacity (what we have, that is, custom magazines with increased capacity are our everything)
  • Single-action trigger (it works fine, you might think that self-cocking in a Glock gives less travel to the trigger guard!).

At various times, attempts were made to improve the design. For example, series 90 pistols had a double-action trigger. The most prominent representative of the 90 series was the Colt Double Eagle. However, compared to its contemporaries, the Double Eagle was too heavy and proved unpopular, so it was produced only from 1990 to 1997.

Today, the 1911 is produced by various manufacturers (Colt, Springfield Armory, Kimber, Les Baer, Wilson, STI) and remains the most popular weapon in the United States:

  • some army officers demonstratively carry the M1911 A1 as a second pistol
  • Despite the government policy of arming the police and FBI with Glock 22 and 23 pistols (.40 ACP cartridge), many units choose the 1911 (usually made by Para or SpringField) as their primary weapon.
  • Among shooting enthusiasts, the 1911 is clearly the leader by a wide margin.

Device:

The M1911 (A1) consists of three main parts: the frame, the barrel and the bolt housing, which moves back and forth along guides built into the frame. At the rear of the casing there is a bolt in which there is a firing pin and ejector. The magazine, trigger guard, hammer and safety lever mechanism are inserted into the handle frame, which blocks the trigger, preventing it from moving until the handle is completely wrapped around the hand. The barrel is connected to the pistol frame using a swinging earring located under the breech of the barrel and providing locking and unlocking of the barrel.

trigger , single action. The mainspring is a twisted cylindrical one, located in the handle behind the magazine; the force on the trigger is transmitted through a rod. The firing pin is spring loaded to prevent accidental firing. The trigger moves longitudinally in the grooves of the pistol frame. There are two fuses: one blocks the sear and bolt, the second blocks the trigger rod. When the safety locks are turned on, the trigger can remain cocked and locked, this compensates for the insufficient efficiency of the single-action trigger. In addition, a safety cock is provided.

What colors was the gun painted?

The frame and bolt were painted dark gray from the factory. This gave the pistol a solid feel. Other smaller elements were painted matte black. Paint was used instead of standard bluing because the work was carried out in difficult weather conditions. Conventional blued weapons quickly became covered with rust. The steel was being eaten away by corrosion.

The handles are coated in different colors: green, bluish, sky, brown and standard black.

The magazines for these weapons were made of stainless steel.
