Colt 1911 air pistol – Gletcher CLT 1911 model

The American combat pistol, created by John Browning, gained worldwide fame in 1911. In those years, Colt was valued for its compactness, range and accuracy. Many years later, Gletcher developers took the first Colt as the basis for the modern air pistol “Gletcher clt 1911 Colt”. The model is produced in Taiwan under the American brand. The SMG Inc company, operating under the motto “Military Precision” (military precision), specializes in the production of analogues of military weapons.

Story

Of course, in Russia the popularity of the Colt cannot be compared with the Makarov pistol, but in the USA it is a truly iconic weapon, being the longest-lived army pistol.

The Colt M1911 was developed in 1911 by Browning under the name Colt-Browning. It was officially in service with the United States from 1911 to 1985, after which it was supplanted by the Beretta. But even now it is not prohibited to use it. Used all over the world, including by some officers of the Tsarist Russian Empire, it survived all the major military conflicts of the 20th century. In fact, the gun has been “working” for more than a century.

Over its history it has undergone many changes. The manufacturer of this version of the Colt air pistol reflects the 1926 model with plastic covers from the 1940s.

Wearing Features

The pneumatic analogue of the combat barrel is worn in two ways:

  1. Traditionally, in this case the chamber is empty. To fire, the bolt is cocked by chambering the cartridge, which then cocks the hammer and the shot can be fired. As can be seen from the description, our pneumatic gun is also equipped with a movable shutter. So all the above actions apply to him too. This method of wearing is also called civilian.
  2. The second method is the army one. In this case, the cartridge is immediately sent into the chamber. The trigger is in the safety cocked position with the safety off. I cocked the hammer and the pistol was ready to fire.

In the latter case, there is no need to be afraid of the safety cocking of the hammer; the safety of the pistol is higher than if it were in a deflated state. After all, even if the weapon falls, an accidental shot is completely excluded. In addition, do not forget about the automatic fuse. Without pressing it, there will be no shot, even if the flag is lowered.

TTX

The tactical and technical characteristics of the CLT 1911 air pistol are also not striking; it is quite a pleasant gas cylinder without outstanding performance. But it doesn’t need high characteristics, because it’s a replica.

Advantages and disadvantages

One of the main advantages is that it almost completely replicates its combat counterpart, which is quite rare for air weapons.

Experts and users consider the second advantage for the pistol to be the mobility of the bolt and the Blowback system. This allows the shooter to feel the recoil of the shot. Although not like the original, but approximately the same as a small-sized firearm, this ability of the pistol makes it feel very close to a firearm.

Usually they shoot from a pneumatic gun at 10-12 meters. The pistol we are considering allows you to do this at a distance of up to 20 meters. Naturally making an adjustment for distance.

Many people note the safety of the pistol. The mechanical safety works both when the trigger is pulled and cocked, but the automatic safety must be pressed consciously. There will be no shot from accidental pressing.

The ball feeder may have a delay in the down position, this feature is not documented. It is both a plus and a minus at the same time.

  • The advantage is that it is very convenient to equip the magazine in this position.
  • The downside is that if you equip the clip with the indicated 19 balls, the feeder will never be able to remove itself from the stopper.

Practice has shown that it is best to load 18 balls into a clip and insert it into the pistol on the slide stop.

The disadvantages include the large spread of bullets on the target, although, according to numerous reviews, there is little confirmation of this.

Many owners are concerned that with a new cylinder, the pistol normally fires two clips, but on the third, a drop in the power of the shot is already felt. You don’t have to shoot the fourth clip, since instead of full-fledged shots you get so-called spitting shots, when the shots go much lower than the sight.

We start to want

The pistol is metal with plastic grips. It fits nicely in the hand, is heavy, and meets all expectations. Externally there is nothing to add - we are dealing with an excellent copy of the Colt 1911.

Inside the handle there is a full-size magazine for 19 balls, which are loaded using the standard “push through the top” method. The cylinder is also inserted into the magazine. The puncture occurs using a hidden clamping screw and a supplied key.

Copyability begins with the implementation of the blowback. Everything is as it should be, Colt should be as functional as possible.

The pistol has a single-action trigger mechanism, so the barrel must be cocked before firing. Cocking is carried out either by manually cocking the hammer or by jerking the bolt. For the remaining shots, the pistol is cocked with the blowback, and when the last shot is fired, the frame engages the slide stop.

The Gletcher CLT 1911 air pistol has an original two-fuse system. A manual flag-type safety locks the bolt frame and trigger - everything here is the same as always. Additionally, there is an automatic safety on the handle, developed by the same Browning. The automatic safety blocks the trigger, so before you pull the trigger, you must tightly “hug” the pistol handle.

Slide stop, magazine release button, manual and automatic safety

The pistol has a non-adjustable open sight. For pneumatics, of course, this is a strange decision, but the manufacturer has gone to match the combat analogue.

In terms of power, a pistol with a stretch can be classified as middle class - only 100 m/s is stated. Of course, this is more than enough for normal shooting, and a bunch of goodies from the original Colt make up for this shortcoming.

Disassembly and care

The pneumatic mechanism is designed in such a way that partial disassembly is possible. It is done in the following order:

  1. the magazine is removed from the handle;
  2. the charging spring is retracted as much as possible;
  3. the remaining balls are removed, just turn the chamber over with the slot down;
  4. the bolt plug and bolt are removed;
  5. the return spring is removed;
  6. the barrel is removed;
  7. After this, the damper spring is accessible and is removed last.

Complete disassembly is carried out using a tool. After removing the barrel from the handle, unscrew the linings and remove the magazine. When the charger is removed, remove both fuses and the trigger block.

The weapon should be cleaned when accuracy deteriorates, when 150–200 rounds are fired. With regular care, the model will delight you for a long time.

After cleaning, the weapon must be treated with weapons-grade lubricant, check the fit of the moving parts, and then begin assembling the pistol.
