They can be either factory-made or hand- . choose the appropriate format based on photos , of which there are quite a few on the Internet. They can be made of wood, paper and even metal . Next you will see a regular universal target.

    photo. Shooting target

Targets for shooting from air guns are divided into two groups:

    • Curly. Various images (people, animals, other objects) are applied to them.
    • Round. They have markings that make it possible to count points during group practice. The markings are applied from the center of the target to the edges in descending order.

Today, all weapon owners are faced with the problem of the availability of targets for shooting from an air rifle or bow in specialized stores, as well as their quality and assortment.

But there is a way out of this situation: you need to find shooting targets on the Internet and print them in A4 format that suit you. You can also make them yourself. But before making a homemade target , you need to study the basic requirements that were compiled by the International Shooting Federation (ISSF)

    Print a 100-length target for zeroing a shotgun on A4, A3, A2, A1 and A0

A hundred-dollar target is used to find out how much accuracy a gun hits depending on the distance to detect the maximum lethal accuracy of shot. The target with a diameter of 750 mm includes the following zones:

    • "D" with an outer diameter of 750 mm,
    • "G" with a diameter of 635 mm,
    • “B” - 521 mm, “B” - 396 mm,
    • “A” - 252 mm and 163 mm,
    • apple with a diameter of 50 mm.

The target is divided into 100 shares. The gun is zeroed at the target from a distance of 35 m (the distance from the target to the muzzle of the barrel). Shooting is done from point blank range. The best air temperature for zeroing a gun is considered to be 12.5 degrees C.

Indicators characterizing the combat quality of a shotgun:

    1. Accuracy % - the number of pellets that hit a circle with a diameter of 750 mm, in relation to the total number in the projectile.
    2. Scree uniformity is the location of pellets over the entire target area with a diameter of 750 mm, taking into account the condensation towards the center.
    3. Condensation to the center - the number of pellets falling into zones A and B divided by the number of pellets falling into zone D and multiplying this ratio by a factor of 2.25.
    4. Combat consistency is the difference in hitting the target from shot to shot.
    5. The density of the scree in each zone is the number of pellets falling into the zone divided by the area of the entire zone.
    6. The nature of the scree is the number of fields affected in the zone (by at least one pellet).
    7. The accuracy of a gun is the average deviation of the center of the scree from the center of the target from shot to shot.

    Combat consistency

One of the important parameters for the effective use of smooth-bore weapons is the constancy of the fire, which determines the change in the accuracy and uniformity of the shot during a series of shots. Test shooting can be done at sighting targets or other targets on which the accuracy of the shot can be determined. To determine the consistency of the battle, a series of 5 shots at identical targets will be sufficient. In the process, we will need to determine the average accuracy, the difference between the best and worst shot, and find out the percentage of the average accuracy. Constancy of combat is considered satisfactory if the difference between the accuracy of the best and worst shots does not exceed 25-30% of the average accuracy.

As an example, consider a series of five shots at targets that have a marked kill zone (a circle with a diameter of 75 cm). After shooting, you need to count the number of pellet holes for each shot. Let's say this: 238, 216, 242, 240 and 259 pellets.

    Let's determine the average accuracy:

    (238 + 216 + 242 + 240 + 259) / 5 = 239

The average accuracy of 5 shots is 239 pellets, with the worst shot being 216 pellets and the best 259.

Let's determine the difference between the best and worst accuracy:

    259 - 216 = 43 pellets

Let's determine the percentage of the difference to the average accuracy

    43 / 230 * 100 = 18,6

As can be seen from the calculation, the consistency of the battle can be considered satisfactory, since the difference in accuracy between the best and worst shot, relative to the average, does not exceed the permissible lower limit of 25%. In cases where this parameter goes beyond the permissible limits, it is necessary to make changes to the method of loading cartridges. Experienced shooters know very well that with an increase in the powder charge, the accuracy of the shot falls, and vice versa, with a decrease in the mass of gunpowder, the accuracy increases. To determine the optimal ratio of shot and charge, it is necessary to gradually, in even steps in the weight distribution, reduce or increase the weight of the gunpowder.

    Installation

Before installing the optics, make sure that the air gun is unloaded and not cocked. Check the condition of the fuse. After that, proceed with the installation, following our instructions:

    1. Installing the ring on the guides. Do not place the mounting rings towards the center of the optic or press them against the edges - achieve a position in which the aiming tube is not in danger of deformation or displacement.
Microscopic damage can impair the functionality of the correction mechanism.
    2. Adjustment of the top rings. Once you are sure that the sight is positioned correctly, adjust it. The crosshair must be set strictly vertically. Place the weapon against your shoulder and adjust the distance to the eye.
    3. Fixation with screws. Do not over tighten the screws as this may cause the tube to become deformed.

The optimal sighting base is a “weaver”. When installing the scope, pay attention to the “moon” - a strip of light diffraction. If the width of the strip is the same everywhere, you did everything right.

Try to purchase the rings and scope from the same manufacturer and do not forget to check their alignment. Sharpened steel cylinders serve this purpose. Pay special attention to fine adjustments of the optics - check the level of the sight using vertical lines (corners of high-rise buildings).

    Electronic targets

An electronic target is a stand that is equipped with special sound-measuring equipment and other electronics. The principle of operation is very simple: when a shot hits the stand, the parameters of the shot are calculated automatically, after which they are registered, and the results of each shooter are summed up. The first electronic targets appeared in the 89th year of the twentieth century, and for shooting at a moving target (for example, shooting at a running boar target ) - in 2004. They are most often used at major competitions.

    Shotgun sharpness

The classic definition of the sharpness of a shotgun is to determine the damaging ability of the shot, namely the penetrating ability of the pellets. As a rule, this procedure is carried out at the same distance at which hunting is expected. An ancient method that has not lost its relevance today is shooting at dry pine boards, which should be fixed at the intended distance. Good combat sharpness is considered to be penetration of pellets to a depth equal to 4 of its diameters. That is, a shot with a diameter of 2 mm must penetrate the material of the board or beam to a depth of 8 mm or more. For an accurate check, you do not need to use a special tool; just use a match or a toothpick and a regular ruler.

If the penetration of pellets is insufficient, it is not recommended to shoot such cartridges at the test distance. Shots with insufficient penetrating power will leave a lot of wounded wounds, which will lead to the loss of game if it flies away. The situation with loaded cartridges should be corrected by increasing the amount of gunpowder or reducing the weight of the shot charge. Good lethality is guaranteed if certain rules for loading cartridges are observed, which give a sufficient initial velocity of the shot charge. It will be different for different types of cartridges:

    • for sports - 365-385 m/s;
    • for hunting - 350-385 m/s;
    • for Magnum - 375-400 m/s.

The initial speed of the shot primarily depends on the quality of the components with which the cartridges are equipped: gunpowder, wads, primers, as well as the ratio of the powder and shot charge. Some cartridges from foreign manufacturers with copper-plated, chrome-plated or nickel-plated shot can provide an initial shot charge velocity of up to 450 m/s. It is recommended to check the sharpness of your weapon regularly, especially when changes are made to the ammunition load or a new batch is purchased. Only in this case can you be sure of the effectiveness of the shots.

Types and sizes of targets for practical shooting, made by yourself

    1. Pneumatic target.

This photo shows a target that is used for shooting from an air rifle from a distance of 10 meters. The center of the target , the so-called "bull's-eye", is indicated by the number 9.

    1. Paper Bow Targets

The best way to practice is to shoot a bow or crossbow at a paper target.

    1. Shields shield for crossbow and archery

In order for the arrows to last longer, it is recommended to purchase an arrow shield. During practical shooting , the shield will allow you to keep the arrows in their original form. In addition, the shield can withstand hits from any weapon.

    1. Children's shooting target

In addition to specialized targets for shooting ranges, there are also children's shooting targets. Children's targets are a target printed on a metal sheet. For children's purposes, bows or crossbows with arrows on suction cups are used.

Basic requirements for the goals of the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF)

In accordance with the requirements of the International Shooting Federation (ISSF), targets for practical shooting of any format, including A4, must be printed on thick white or cream paper.

Setting up for shooting while sitting at a table

This exercise is the simplest and most convenient for initial training in bullet shooting. The shooter's body position is familiar, almost no tension is required, the stability of the rifle and hands is greatest, and loading the rifle is the most convenient.

The shooter sits at the table or stands near the counter, choosing the most comfortable position for himself. The whole body is slightly turned to the right of the aiming line. When shooting, it is recommended to lean your chest slightly against the edge of the table, but at the same time maintain a free posture with minimal muscle tension.

The rifle must be grasped with the right hand by the neck of the stock so that the thumb clasps the neck of the stock on the left, and the other four fingers on the right. With your left hand, grasp the stock fore-end from below so that your thumb clasps the left side of the fore-end, and the other four fingers clasp the fore-end from the right side. The rifle should rest not on your fingers, but on your palm. Then lean over the table and rest your elbows on the table or, if shooting is carried out standing near the counter, rest your elbows on the counter. In this case, the left elbow and shoulder should be pushed forward as far as possible, and the left elbow should be exactly under the rifle. The right elbow is placed on the side, closer to you. The rifle must be inserted with the butt plate into the notch of the right shoulder and pressed against it. Lower your head onto the ridge of the butt. The shooter places his legs in a way that suits him. The body position should be calm and stable.

Self-checking the accepted position consists of the fact that after accepting the position, the shooter closes his eyes for a few seconds, then opens them and checks the alignment of the rifle pointing and aiming points.

Rice. 1 Shooting position while sitting at a table with your elbows resting on the table. Rifle above the left elbow: a - side view; b - front view

If it turns out that the rifle’s front sight does not coincide with the aiming point, then it is necessary to clarify the aiming of the rifle, but without violating the “shooter-weapon” system, that is, without moving the rifle relative to the shooter’s body.

If the aiming point of rifle 4 (Fig. 2) is on the side of aiming point 6, then you need to rotate the entire body along with the rifle around the vertical axis 2, passing through the fulcrum of the left elbow, until the aiming point of rifle 4 aligns with aiming point 6.

Rice. 2. Clarification of the rifle's horizontal aiming when shooting while sitting at a table: 1 - direction of rotation of the shooter's body; 2 — axis of rotation of the gunner’s body; 3 - aiming line until the rifle aiming is clarified; 4 - rifle aiming point until aiming is specified; 5 - the bull's eye of the target was on the right; 6—combined pointing and aiming points; 7 — location of the sight after clarifying the aiming of the rifle; 8 - aiming line after clarifying the rifle aiming

If the aiming point of the rifle 6 (Fig. 3) turns out to be lower (higher) than the aiming point 4, then you need to move a little away (move) with a chair from the table or stand a little further (closer) from the counter, but without moving your elbows 8.

Rice. 3. Clarification of the rifle's vertical aiming when shooting while sitting at a table: 1 - direction of movement of the shooter's body; 2 - aiming line after clarifying the rifle aiming; 3 — location of the sight after clarifying the aiming of the rifle; 4 — combined pointing and aiming points; 5 - the bull's eye of the target - turned out to be higher; 6 - rifle aiming point before clarification: 7 - aiming line before rifle aiming is clarified; 8 - elbows and arrows should be motionless

Accurate shooting is only possible if the rifle is applied uniformly for all shots of the exercise being performed.

The placement of the stock in the shoulder notch is also important. If the butt of the rifle is higher than the middle of the shoulder notch, then the recoil force increases due to the increase in the distance between the pair of forces: the recoil of the rifle and the resistance of the shoulder, and then the bullets will hit above the center of the target. If the butt of the rifle is below the shoulder notch, the bullets will hit below the center of the target.

From this it is clear that even with minor changes in the position of the butt in the shoulder recess, a large vertical dispersion of bullets will result.

After attaching the rifle, the index finger must be placed with the first joint on the trigger. In this case, the index finger should not touch the rifle stock. Lower the elbow of your right hand freely onto the table (stand). Tilt your head slightly forward and rest your cheek against the ridge of the butt.

Touching the cheek in the same place on the butt ridge for all shots will ensure good shooting accuracy. To uniformly touch the cheek to the ridge of the butt, it is recommended to touch the tip of the nose with the thumb of the right hand, grasping the neck of the butt.

Then you need to make sure that the position of the body and arms is comfortable and that no muscles are overly tense.

Archery - distance to target and target size

The dimensions of the target , as well as individual elements, are detailed in Table No. 1.

The dimensions , their elements and the distance to the target are indicated in table No. 2. One of the most popular “moving targets” is considered to be a target with a running boar .

    Note to table 2:

On targets intended for a small-caliber rifle ( distance 50 meters ), a running boar is depicted in the center of this target, on which marker rings are located. On the form for an air rifle ( distance 10 m ) there are targets that are intended for the left and right directions of movement. Between them there is a black apple ( diameter 15.5 mm ), which is necessary for aiming.

Assessing the possibility of killing game

The essence of this procedure is a clear demonstration of the possibility of hitting game for a targeted cartridge at a certain distance. It is carried out by shooting loaded cartridges at long-range targets with the image of a bird, animal, or an approximate count of holes is carried out over the estimated area that the game may occupy. For example, a bird such as hazel grouse will require a lesion area of about 60 cm2. The area of one part of a 16-lobed target, as we know, is 276 cm2, respectively, our “alleged” hazel grouse will fit 4.6 times in one lobe. We obtained this figure by dividing the area of one lobe by the area of the intended target, that is (276/60 = 4.6). To reliably hit a target of this size, an accurate hit of 3 No. 7 pellets will be enough. To find out the number of pellets for a confident hit over the entire target area, we will find out the required number of pellets per shot. That is, we multiply 3 pellets by 4.6 (how many times the hazel grouse fits in one share) and we get 14 pellets. A simple conclusion follows from this - for effective shooting from a distance of 35 meters at a bird of this size, it is necessary that each part of the target have more than 14 holes.

In cases where 9 out of 16 lobes do not have a sufficient number of holes, the lethality of this ammunition is considered insufficient. It can confidently hit the intended game at a shorter distance, where the accuracy will be higher, but at a distance of over 35 meters it is no longer recommended for use.

It should be noted that the assessment of the possibility of destruction should be made at different distances, depending on the type of hunts and the intended trophies. For hunting swamp game, where shooting is carried out at much shorter distances, a sufficient distance will be 20 meters, it is recommended to shoot cartridges for upland game from a distance of 30 meters, for feathered game 40 meters, and for hunting in late autumn the distance should be increased to 50 meters.
