Review of the air pistol (sawed-off shotgun) Gletcher M1891: characteristics, upgrade, video

Review of the Gletcher M1891 air pistol

The device is compact (a little more than half a meter) and quite weighty - almost two and a half kilograms. The stock, which from afar appears to be wooden, turns out to be plastic upon closer inspection. But the bolt is steel, its appearance completely imitating the one on the original Mosin three-line. In addition, it is longitudinally sliding, which gives special pleasure when shooting.

Advantages and disadvantages

Positive qualities of the pneumatic edger Gletcher M1891:

  • Realistic (both in appearance and during use) steel bolt, which is easily removed, just like the original.
  • Accuracy, as well as accuracy, is excellent.
  • The hex key for pressing the cylinder fits into a special recess in the magazine. This way you won’t forget it and won’t lose it.
  • Original appearance, great resemblance to the legendary “mosinka”.
  • The magazine is made of metal for 16 balls, solid and full-weight.

Disadvantages of the model:

  • The force applied to pull the shutter is rather weak.
  • The plastic butt spoils the appearance.
  • Very small key.
  • Loading is not very convenient - you need to catch a certain angle so that the balls go into the barrel channel without getting stuck in it. They should be placed one at a time.

Application area

The well-made, pleasantly heavy-handed sawed-off “mosinka”, so similar to the real thing, will appeal to fans of plinking, hunters of crows and small pest birds. And it can be used to hit training targets quite accurately, so this device is also suitable for training.

Out of the box, the pneumatic gun has a firing range of up to 15 meters. And by increasing the bullet ejection power through a small upgrade, you can make shooting even more spectacular and effective, and at longer distances.

Description of the Gletcher M1891 air pistol

is a gas-cylinder sawn-off shotgun of a Mosin rifle from the famous American weapons manufacturer Gletcher.

The stock of the Gletcher M1891 rifle is made of high-quality plastic, painted to resemble wood; it looks very realistic and is difficult to distinguish from natural wood coated with varnish.

All parts of the pistol are well designed and look expensive. Mosinka cut length

is 570 mm and weighs about 2.5 kg, so the weight/dimensional characteristics of the sawn-off shotgun are fully met.

A front sight and an adjustable sighting bar are used as an aiming device; it can be adjusted for different shooting distances.

The mechanisms of the pistol, the barrel and the bolt are all made of metal, while the receiver is made of silumin, painted black, the bolt is made of nickel-plated steel.

For firing from the Gletcher M1891 air pistol, small 4.5 mm caliber balls are used; they are installed in the clip of a Mosin rifle along with a spray can. One can is enough for 50-60 shots at a full firing speed of 120 m/s . The can is tightened using a hex wrench, which is built into the rifle clip.

Since the sawn-off shotgun uses full-size clip technology, it has higher reliability and practicality; in the event of a breakdown, it will be enough to replace the clip and in 95% of cases this will solve the problem with your pistol!

The accuracy of the Gletcher M1891 air pistol is excellent; our Popadiv10.ru store shot it at a distance of 10 m and all the balls fell into a 10 cm circle, which in principle is not bad for such a distance.

Jerking the shutter is a special pleasure; everything is done extremely realistically and attractively!

If you were thinking about what to give to your husband/son/boss, then this is a great choice!

Device

The model's casing is plastic, the magazine, receiver and trigger are metal. The shutter is steel, movable type. The fuse is located on the bolt cocking lever. To activate it, you need to pull the trigger and move it to the left. The barrel is smooth, metal, motionless. It is slightly shorter than the false barrel, which has a positive effect on accuracy.

A CO2 cylinder is inserted into the magazine, and 16 steel balls are also included. The release hook is quite soft. The release mechanism is made of silumin alloy. It allows you to fire only single shots.

Description of the Gletcher M1891 air pistol:

A pneumatic copy of the sawn-off shotgun of the legendary Mosin rifle model 1891 - Gletcher M1891. The 3-line rifle of caliber 7.62 model 1891 (also known as the Mosin rifle, also known as the three-line rifle) is a repeating rifle adopted by Russia in 1891. It was actively used from 1891 to 1945, during which time it was modernized many times. One of the names, “three-line”, comes from the caliber of the rifle’s barrel, which is equal to 3 Russian lines (this is an old length measure of 1/10 of an inch - that’s 2.54 mm, so 3 lines is 7.62 mm).

The manual reloading system with a sliding longitudinally rotating bolt was copied. There is a convenient opportunity to place a portable clamp screw key right in the store - no need to carry it in your pocket or in a box. The weight and dimensions of Mosin's prototype Gletcher sawn-off shotgun were also copied. The long barrel makes shooting quite accurate, so the ability to adjust the sights is important in this case.

The main components of the Gletcher M1891 pistol are made of metal, the stock is made of plastic, but it is made “like wood” in a very natural way.
Weight and dimensions parameters are as close as possible to the combat counterpart, all proportions are met. The energy source for launching the ball is a canister weighing 12 g, placed in the magazine; steel balls with a caliber of 4.5 are also charged there (the capacity of the clip is 16 balls). The store is a separate detail that adds even more charm. The initial shot speed is 130 m/s, which satisfies even experienced pneumatic gun enthusiasts. The kit also includes a removable front and rear sight. This is the first pneumatic copy of the Mosin rifle, so the Gletcher M1891 sawn-off shotgun will decorate the collection of any lover of historical weapons.

Operating principle

Having slightly loosened the clamping screw, insert the cylinder into the magazine and tighten the screw back. Then we fill the charge compartment with balls by pulling the feeder spring. We insert the magazine into place, pressing it until it clicks. Let's move the bolt, causing the ball to fall into the barrel. Or, for the same purpose, you can simply move the shutter lever from a horizontal position to a vertical one.

All that's left is to press the trigger. In this case, the firing pin located in the bolt cylinder hits the valve located in the magazine. The bullet, which is affected by the energy of the compressed gas jet, is pushed out of the barrel and flies in a given direction.

Design

The gun itself is small (a little longer than half a meter) and quite heavy - almost 2.5 kg. The stock, which in appearance from a distance resembles wood, turns out to be plastic upon closer inspection. But the bolt frame is metal, in appearance reminiscent of the one located on the original Mosin rifle. In addition, the bolt is longitudinally sliding, and this gives great pleasure when shooting a pistol.

All owners leave positive reviews about indicators such as accuracy and accuracy. This pneumatic model, which has a smooth barrel and shoots round steel balls, is ahead of many types of weapons from Gletcher and other other companies.

The elegantly made sawn-off shotgun of the Mosin rifle, which fits comfortably in the hands, is very reminiscent of the real original; it has attracted the attention of plinking enthusiasts, shooting beginners and small game hunters.

Out of the box, the air rifle has a firing range of up to approximately 12 m. And by increasing the initial speed of the bullet with a little tuning, the shooting will be even more effective and spectacular, and at longer distances.

The Gletcher M1891 casing is made of plastic, the trigger mechanism, receiver and clip are made of steel. The bolt frame is metal, movable. The safety block is bolted. To activate it, you need to pull the trigger towards yourself and move it to the left. The pistol is smooth-bore, steel, fixed. It is slightly smaller than the false barrel, which has a good effect on accuracy.

The gas cartridge is installed in the holder, and 16 copper-plated BB cartridges are placed in it. The trigger is not elastic. The release mechanism is aluminum. It makes it possible to fire only single cartridges.

At the end of the barrel there is a fixed ring front sight. The rear sight is adjustable. The standard sighting bar is removable. To install an optical sight there is a dovetail (under the rear sight).

Having slightly loosened the clamping screw, you need to install a gas can into the magazine and tighten the bolt back. Afterwards, you need to fill the magazine with steel balls by pulling the feeder spring. Place the clip in place, pressing until it clicks. Tighten the bolt frame, so the bullet is fed into the barrel. Or, to do this, you can only move the bolt lever from a horizontal to a vertical position.

Now you just need to pull the trigger. At this time, the firing pin, which is located in the bolt cylinder, hits the valve located in the cage. The bullet, which is subject to carbon dioxide pressure, is fed from the barrel and flies at the target.

Disassembly (incomplete)

Disassembling the pistol occurs in the following order:

  1. First, of course, we’ll take out the magazine along with the can.
  2. Then open the shutter and press the trigger. This will help remove the shutter.
  3. The next operation is disassembling the shutter. To do this, you need to remove its bar and combat cylinder from the striker. Which won't be difficult. But the trigger holds tight. It will take some work to unscrew it.
  4. To remove the stock, you need to knock out the transverse pin, which is located on the front of the forearm. It holds not only the barrel casing, but also the front sight and sight.
  5. Then, if necessary, you can pull out the inner barrel from the false barrel. This will be required, for example, if it is decided to upgrade.

Story

It’s not even worth introducing the Mosin rifle (a three-line rifle of the 1891 model) in particular; everyone knows it, everywhere. She took part in battles both for the Tsar and for Stalin, fought for both the Whites and the Reds, traveled abroad without a visa, participated in photo shoots in 1945 near the Reichstag, etc. Well, the types and alterations of Mosinka in history are certainly impossible count on one's fingers. To familiarize yourself with the historical part, I offer the following video.

Shot speed, m/s:

CO2 canister 12g.

BB steel shot caliber 4.5/.177

About 11,000 rubles.

A low initial speed, a magazine for 16 balls, a plastic finish, a high price - all this on the market is still excusable for the manufacturer, because no one else has anything like it.

Appearance

To get started, I offer a short video showing the Gletcher M1891 model from its best sides.

As you can see, this is not an original rifle, but a classic sawn-off shotgun, which was also common in our amateur wars. The manufacturer tried to maintain the weight and size characteristics; the original wood was replaced with plastic, but the main functionality is still implemented in metal.

For cocking, an imitation of the original longitudinally sliding bolt is used, with the need to reload for each shot - quite attractive. For shooting, contrary to the original rifle accessory, it is not spring-piston circuits that are used, but a CO2 cartridge standard for glacier pistols. The cylinder is secured in a wide magazine using a hidden clamping screw, which is tightened using a hexagon. Here in the store there is a groove for it so as not to lose it. Loading balls into the magazine is carried out as usual - we pull back the spring and pour it on top. Holds 16 balls.

The sights of the Gletcher M1891 air pistol are represented by an adjustable rear sight and a non-adjustable front sight, everything as it should be. There is a safety lock on the back of the bolt mechanism.

Functional

As already mentioned, the rifle magazine, i.e. narrower than a pistol, holds 16 balls, which is quite excellent for existing gas-cylinder pistols. The initial shot speed is 120 m/s, and in practice it is even higher. In total, we get an average-power pistol; for such a price, of course, we could have come up with something better, but the manufacturer still had to keep within 3 J.

And once again I would like to emphasize the shutter mechanism - this has never happened before, we are waiting for the continuation of the production of historical replicas of domestic and not so weapons. The Mosin air rifle has already appeared, there is still a little time left before the appearance of the Maksimka air rifle. A nice gift for truly air-savvy people, and that’s where we’ll end the review.
