Heckler & Koch UMP

(
Universale Maschinenpistole
, German for "Universal submachine gun") is a submachine gun designed and manufactured by Heckler & Koch. Heckler & Koch developed the UMP as a lighter, cheaper successor to the MP5, although both remain in production. [4] UMP has been adopted for use in various countries, including Brazil, Canada and the United States. A small number of UMPs chambered in .45 ACP were officially acquired by the 5th Special Forces Group from the United States Army Special Forces, with some of the weapons seeing limited service in the early years of the Iraqi insurgency, making them one of the few submachine guns used by the US military in recent conflicts.

History[edit]

UMP was developed in the 1990s by Heckler & Koch (H&K) as a cheaper, lighter, polymer-intensive alternative to MP5 [5]. [6] The UMP first entered production in 2000. [7] It was developed primarily for use by American military and law enforcement units, [8] as the MP5 was not available in .45 ACP, a cartridge that was popular in the United States. States, but not in Europe. [9] Despite the improvements and cost reductions of the UMP, it did not replace the MP5, which ultimately proved to be better than the UMP. [10]

Tec-9 - Run, Shoot, Kill

In 2014, Valve recklessly increased the accuracy of one pistol - and it fundamentally changed the way teams thought about what an eco round was.

The full power of the Tec-9 was demonstrated at the ESL One Katowice 2015 major. As the tournament progressed, Fnatic constantly took the eco pistol and managed to beat fully equipped opponents with it. The pistol had a 32-round clip, insane accuracy when shooting on the run, and high armor penetration—with it you could easily capture and hold points.

Look

After such rounds, Fnatic got the nickname Fnatec-9

Immediately after the major, Valve reduced the pistol's clip capacity, but this was not enough. As a result, after a few more months, the developers radically reduced the shooting accuracy of all pistols - only then did everyone more or less calm down.

Interestingly, in the alpha version of the game the Tec-9 was a submachine gun (as in many other shooters). This partly explains why he was so powerful in his time.

Design details[edit]

Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Directorate officers armed with UMP9 and SG 553

The UMP magazine-fed, blowback-action submachine gun fires from a closed bolt. [11] A closed bolt increases the weapon's accuracy, which is especially desirable in a law enforcement context. [9] However, the UMP's simple design makes it less controllable than the MP5. [12]

As originally designed, the UMP is chambered for larger cartridges (.45 ACP and .40 S&W) compared to other assault rifles like the MP5 to provide greater stopping power against unarmored targets (with slightly lower effectiveness at longer ranges) than MP5 (mostly offered in 9×19mm, although with short-run 10mm Auto and .40 S&W variants). A larger cartridge produces greater recoil and makes it more difficult to control when firing fully automatically. To reduce excessive recoil, Heckler & Koch developed the UMP with a cyclic rate of fire of approximately 600 (±100) rounds per minute. It is worth noting that the rate of fire increases when using ammunition (+P). [13] [11]

The UMP9 (UMP 9×19mm version) is almost 0.2 kg (0.44 lb) lighter than its MP5 counterpart. Its predominantly polymer construction reduces both its weight and the number of parts subject to corrosion. [11] [14]

The UMP is available in four trigger group configurations with varying combinations of semi-automatic, dual-row, full-automatic and safety settings. The stock folds sideways to reduce its length during transport. When the last UMP round is fired, the bolt opens and can be released through the latch on the left side. The sighting bar consists of a rear sight aperture and a front sight with a vertical post. It can mount four Picatinny rails (one on top of the receiver, and one on the right, left, and bottom of the handguard) to mount accessories such as optical sights, tactical flashlights, or laser sights. Vertical handguards can be attached to the bottom rail for better control during burst fire and automatic fire. [eleven]

CZ75-Auto - when one nerf is not enough

CZ is a pistol unique to CS:GO. He was considered an idiot twice: first in 2014, and then he was attacked in 2018. First things first.

The pistol did not appear in the game immediately. It was added only in 2014 with the Weapons Case 3. If previously snipers mainly bought the P250, now there was no point in it - the CZ was superior to it in all respects. It was the first automatic pistol in the game, a kind of mini-SMG that could save you in emergency situations.

Now it seems that the CZ75 is rather clumsy, and only gains strength in capable hands. This was originally not the case: it had a short animation when switching, higher damage and accuracy, and the kill reward from it was the traditional $300 rather than $100. The pistol irritated pro players so much that many (like Adam friberg Friberg) insisted that it should be removed from the game altogether. As a result, a few months after the addition, CZ75 received a nerf - almost all its parameters were “cut”, and the indignation subsided.

The second time the CZ75 was attacked was after the IEM Season XII - World Championship, where the same Fnatic, which this time was nicknamed Fnaticz, performed miracles with a pistol. What was wrong? After a series of nerfs and small buffs, the CZ75 was back on top: its main advantage (automatic shooting mode) had not gone away, and it was also more accurate than its counterparts when shooting on the run. As a result, the pistol's damage was again reduced and it was no longer possible to kill an enemy with a helmet with one hit. After this, even Gabriel FalleN Toledo and Dennis dennis Edman, who insisted that CZ should be removed from the game, were satisfied.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers carrying UMP

UMP is interchangeable between three different calibers:

UMP45

, chambered .45 ACP

UMP40

, chambered .40 S&W

UMP9

, chamber 9 × 19 mm Parabellum

Apart from the different chambering, all versions have the same design model, the external differences being the curved magazine used on the UMP9, while the UMP40 and UMP45 use a straight magazine. All three versions of the weapon can be converted to any round bottom by replacing the bolt, barrel and magazine. [11] [14]

USC

or
the Universal Self-loading carbine
is a semi-automatic version of the UMP for individuals. It was developed following the US assault weapons ban in 1994 and was introduced in 2000. Differences from the original UMP include a thumbhole stock/grip instead of the UMP pistol grip, a longer barrel without a flash hider. , magazine limited to 10 rounds, and semi-automatic trigger group and action. [15] Originally available in gray, the USC has only been produced in all-black since 2008. [16] USC production ceased in 2013. [17] In 2022, H&K announced limited production of new USC rifles.

AWP - when it was necessary to nerf kennyS

The AWP has always been a cult rifle in Counter-Strike, and in the early years of Global Offensive it seemed like a complete imbecile. The thing is that in aiming mode you could move quite quickly with it. Because of this, snipers began to act more aggressively than in previous versions of the shooter.

Players were not afraid to push with AWP, they took angles that were unintelligible by modern standards, and the most skilled eSports players even turned rounds upside down with it. It was precisely because of the features of the early AWP that Ladislav GuardiaN Kovacs and Jesper Weksel, and especially Kenny kennyS Shrub, took shots at the time.

It was not without reason that the Frenchman was considered the strongest sniper in CS:GO. Just look at this highlight:

Look

As a result, Valve decided that something needed to be done about this and reduced the speed of movement in zoom. The game no longer encouraged aggressive attacks. Many commentators believed that the developers primarily wanted to nerf not the rifle, but kennyS himself:

Kenny kennyS Shrub:

“It really hit my motivation. I thought: “Why did they do this?!” It's not fair to me. I really felt like they did it because of me [laughs]. I’m not saying that it really happened, but that’s what I thought.”

In short, after the nerf AWP became even less dynamic than it was in 1.6. In addition, the so-called anscopes (shots without a sight) have lost their effectiveness. More passive snipers were not affected as much by the nerf, but aggressive ones had to significantly change their playstyle. Previously, the AWP dictated the course of the game, now it has become just one of the rifles.
