Occasionally it may be necessary to sharpen blades at the discretion of the Swiss Army. Some people prefer to use an emery disc instead of a whetstone when sharpening the blades on a knife. The preference for a grinding wheel is simply because the blades are thin and take longer to sharpen than carbon steel blades.
