We will describe an airliner such as the Boeing 757-200 and its cabin layout so that each passenger can choose the best seats for their trip. After all, the quality of the trip largely depends on this. And when, during check-in for a flight, you are given the opportunity to decide on a seat on the plane, you should be guided by their location.
But this decision also depends on your preferences and various features. For example, some always try to take a seat by the window to watch the endless sky. Others, on the contrary, feel panic near the window.
A little history
The airliner of the American company Boeing was produced from February 1982 to 2005. During this period, the company managed to put into operation more than a thousand aircraft, of which only 80 were cargo, the rest were passenger.

And although today this aircraft is out of production, it is an important part of many aircraft fleets of international companies. Over the entire period of operation, its reliability and safety have been confirmed by real figures. Thus, out of seven crashes involving a Boeing 757-200, only one occurred as a result of damage to the landing gear. The rest relate to terrorist situations.
Flight safety
Over all the years of operation, 10 Boeing-757 aircraft crashed as a result of various disasters. In six cases this resulted in significant loss of life. The most famous events were September 11, 2001, when terrorists hijacked two Boeing 757s operating on domestic American airlines. One of them crashed into the Pentagon building, and the second crashed to the ground in Pennsylvania. In this case, 233 people died, of which 108 were on board the airliners.
Another high-profile disaster was a collision over Lake Constance, when a Boeing 757 transport crashed into a Russian Tu-154 carrying 69 people, mostly children. The cause of this terrible disaster was a gross error by the dispatcher.
At the same time, the most “alarming” incidents involving the same aircraft are mentioned less frequently. Both of them occurred in 1996: on February 6, a Boeing 757 crashed into the waters of the Atlantic, killing all passengers and crew members (189 people in total), and on October 2, a similar aircraft crashed into the Pacific Ocean. All 70 people on board were killed.
The cause of both accidents was a malfunction of the aircraft commander's speed meter. The readings from this instrument did not match those displayed on the co-pilot's panel. As a result, the on-board electronics became confused, and the crews were unable to understand the situation. Both planes went into a tailspin and crashed. Later, those who serviced the planes on the ground were found guilty, but these cases showed that on-board equipment is too sensitive to external influences.

Main characteristics of the airliner
The narrow-body aircraft is primarily used for medium-sized flights between different countries. On the way, it reaches a speed of 890 km/h and rises to a height of more than 12,000 meters above the ground. In one flight it covers a distance of 7240 km, even when fully loaded.
The cabin layout and passenger capacity depend on the airline that uses Boeing for its purposes. Usually it only accommodates economy class, where all seats are equally comfortable. Toilets are located at the beginning and in the middle of the board, and at the end there are technical rooms for staff with a kitchen. Emergency exits are located inside the cabin, between the 10th and 11th rows, as well as between the 30th and 31st.

Options
757-100 - the initially proposed basic version, designed as a replacement for the Boeing 727, seating 150 people. In reality, the proposal did not prove popular, and not a single aircraft of this variant was produced. The 757-200 is the most common variant of the 757. It seats between 200 and 228 passengers, depending on individual configuration. 757-200F - cargo version of the 757-200. 757-300 - An extended version of the 757-200, which was produced since 1998. Accommodates from 243 to 280 passengers. It features an increased take-off weight of up to 122 tons and a flight range of up to 6,500 km. The aircraft of this variant are also equipped with a new passenger cabin of the same type as the latest generation Boeing 737 (-600/700/800/900).
Seating diagram
In our country, Boeing 757-200s are still available from airlines such as Azur Air, Royal Flight and I Fly. It must be remembered that the seating arrangement is different in each of them, and even within the same carrier there are differences in the interior layout. Therefore, before choosing the best options, check the aircraft’s tail number and seat layout.

Let's give an example on flights, since their fleet has the most of these models. In this case, the number of seats in the cabin reaches 212. There is no division into business and economy class, since the carrier operates charter flights.
The most comfortable seats are considered to be those located at the emergency exit doors, and these are rows 11, 12 (seats A, B, C, F) and 32. Similarly, in the first (D, E, F) there are no seats in front of the passengers, which also makes it possible to straighten the legs. Sometimes such places have a higher cost than others. But at the beginning of the cabin, the seats marked A, B and C are inconvenient, since toilets are installed right in front of them. This means that constant noise, passengers entering and leaving, and the presence of a wall in front of you will significantly worsen the emotions of the flight.
The seats in the 10th, 28th and 40th rows are also considered less comfortable, since the backrests in them almost do not fall. This fixation is necessary because toilets or cabin partitions are installed immediately behind them. If you don’t want to watch the beautiful view from the window, have a fear of heights or are panicking from the flight, it is better to occupy rows from 17 to 26. However, the turbulence may be a little stronger here. All other places are considered equally convenient and differ little from each other.

Iceland
On November 25, 2015, Loftleiðir airline performed the world's first commercial flight to Antarctica on a Boeing 757-200ER. The flight was carried out from Punta Arenas, Chile, to the ice runway of the Union Glacier glacier[4].
Russia
Boeing 757 aircraft are included in the fleet of four Russian airlines (2021):
- Azur Air - 9 aircraft (capacity 238 passengers)[5].
- Royal Flight - 5 aircraft (capacity 235 passengers)[6]
- Aviastar-TU - 4 aircraft (3 converted to cargo version)[7]
- Erofey (E-cargo) - 1 aircraft (converted to cargo version)[8]
Royal Flight Layout
This airline has seven Boeing 757-200 models. But almost each of the sides differs in the number and arrangement of seats. Therefore, it is better to inquire in advance where the desired seats are located on a particular plane, for example, on the carrier’s official website.
royalflight.com
So, if the board number is VQ-BTB or VQ-BTR, then the passenger capacity is designed for 235 people. There are only three seats in the first row, and four in the 11th row, arranged in twos. But there are no portholes here. The toilets are located in the bow of the cabin and immediately behind the 30th row, which brings a certain discomfort for passengers sitting there.
Legroom in these models is provided only in the first row of seats, but only for seats marked C, D, E and F. On the second row these are A and B, on the 12th row A and F, as well as the entire 11th and 31st. But since emergency exits are located in front of them, only healthy passengers without children and animals will be seated here.
Pay special attention to the side numbers VQ-BTN and VQ-BTM, since there is one less row in the cabin, there are only 39 of them, but the “eight” is missing in the numbering. The seats in the ninth lane are installed in a special way - separately from the rest and there are only two of them. True, there is no porthole. Increased legroom on such aircraft is given in the first row for all passengers, in the 9th seats D and E, in the tenth A, B, C, F, as well as the entire 20th. And in the 18th and 40th, the backs of the chairs do not fall down.
The Boeing 757-200 with tail number VQ-BOO has 235 seats. Here the toilets are located at the 1st row and just behind the 29th and 31st. In the first lane there are two separate chairs, and in the 30th and 31st there are three. The 1st, 2nd, 10th, 12th, 13th and 20th rows remain more comfortable. But check the interior diagram on the website to find out which seats.
The VQ-BLR board is significantly different in layout. There are 238 places. Free legroom is provided in the 1st row (except C and D), as well as in the 11th and 31st. Limited backrest recline in seats 10, 30 and 40.

This carrier has only two such aircraft. The salon is divided into three identical sections. There are toilets in front and after the 30th row, which leaves a certain imprint on the comfort of the seats in the immediate vicinity.
The emergency exits are then located in front of rows 11 and 31, so they have legroom. And the seats in the 10th and 30th are limited in terms of backrest tilt. The first and 11th seats also differ in their smaller number. So, in the 1st row there are only three of them on the right, and in the 11th row there are two on each side.

Tips for Newbies
Study the cabin layout of the specific airliner you plan to fly in. To be sure, check the seating arrangement on your board, as they may vary. Remember that if you sit at the emergency exit, you will have to help the flight attendants in case of unforeseen situations.
Seats near the toilets are usually considered the worst because people are walking back and forth almost constantly. But if you are flying with children, then this may even be convenient, since you don’t have to walk far.
In those modifications where there are two separate seats in a row, it is comfortable to fly for couples who want to have a quiet conversation without strangers. If it is important for you to sleep and relax during the trip, do not take the last seats in each section, since the seat backs usually do not lower in them. And in order to find out exactly all the secrets of how to occupy the best seat on an airplane, take an interest in the reviews of tourists who make regular flights between different countries.
