Seventh Fleet
(US Seventh Fleet) is one of the fleets of the US Navy.
Commanded by Pacific Fleet and headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii, it covers the western Pacific and Indian Oceans (excluding the Middle East) west of the International Date Line. [2] The flagship/headquarters is the Blue Ridge
(LCC-19) in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan [Note 1].
The Seventh Fleet consists of several "Task Forces" (TFs) organized according to mission.
Review
The area responsible for the 7th Fleet area is designated " 7F"
(as of 2009)
Together with the 3rd Fleet, which covers the eastern Pacific east of the 160th meridian line (excluding the west coast of South America, which is responsible for the 4th Fleet), it constitutes the United States Pacific Fleet. The flagship/command center is located aboard the amphibious command ship Blue Ridge, whose home port is the Yokosuka Naval Facility in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, and is manned by a Navy General. In addition to the Yokosuka Naval Facility in Kanagawa Prefecture, it has bases at the Sasebo Naval Facility in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Okinawa Prefecture, Busan, Pohang, Zhenghai, Singapore, etc. in South Korea.
The 7th Fleet would have 50-60 ships and 350 aircraft during the war, with Carrier Air Wing 5, which carries the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan [Note 2], as the main combat force. Human forces can also mobilize 60,000 sailors and marines. The number in peacetime is about 20,000 people. It covers the half of the Earth that is on the other side of the United States, and boasts the largest scale and strength of any US Navy fleet. It also has close ties with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force under the Alliance (Japan-US Alliance), the Republic of Korea Navy under the Alliance (US-Korea Alliance), and the Philippine Navy under the Alliance (US-Philippines Alliance). ) engineer
The current commander is Lieutenant General Karl Thomas (since July 8, 2021) [3]

Story
77th Task Force, 4th Group, 3rd Group, escort carrier USS Gambier Bay, CVE-73, 1944, Battle of Leyte Gulf.
In March 1943, a unit of the Southwest Pacific Fleet under the command of Army General Douglas MacArthur was reorganized as the Seventh Fleet. The Seventh Fleet during the Pacific War was not under the command of General Chester Nimitz, Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific Fleet (promoted marshal in December 1944). During the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October 1944, under the leadership of Vice Admiral Thomas K. Kincaid, a communications conflict arose with the Third Fleet, led by General William Halsey, which became a problem.
In 1947 it was reorganized as the Western Pacific Fleet, but became the 7th Fleet in 1949 and was redesignated the 7th Fleet in February 1950. In November 1954, after the Korean War, he moved from commander of the Far Eastern Fleet to commander of the Pacific Fleet. Participated in the Korean War (1950-1953), Vietnam War (1965-1973) and the 1991 Gulf War. During the Vietnam War, there was an unofficial nickname "Gulf of Tonkin Yacht Club".
Until 1995, when the Fifth Fleet was formed in the Middle East, the Seventh Fleet had responsibility for the region.
With the exception of ships whose home ports are Yokosuka, Sasebo and Guam, they are dispatched from the 3rd Fleet, which is responsible for the Eastern Pacific, but depending on the situation, they are assigned to the 5th Fleet.
Historically has a close connection with the 5th Fleet, but recently, due to trends in China and North Korea, a carrier strike group assigned to the 5th Fleet is en route and the US is training with the 7th carrier strike group fleet. I go back and forth from the mainland.
In 2022, a series of accidents occurred on ships and aircraft, for which responsibility was held by senior leaders (Fleet Commander (Lieutenant General), Commander of the 70th Operations Group (Major General), Commander of Destroyer Squadron 15 (Captain)) and several people. the ship was dismissed and the cause of the accident and measures to prevent its recurrence were investigated. In 2022, the ultra-modern landing ship America was transferred to the place of the Osa ship stationed at the Sasebo base.

Ban on defense exports to Russia
In addition to personal and trade sanctions, the United States introduced a ban on the export of defense products, technologies and services to Russia. This was also a reaction to the use of chemical weapons against Alexei Navalny and Sergei Skripal. An exception is made only to support intergovernmental space cooperation. Commercial cooperation in space will be limited after a six-month transition period.

The EU has introduced restrictive measures against sectors of the Russian economy
On July 31, 2014, sectoral sanctions were introduced by the EU in response to the actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. They included the five largest Russian banks - Sberbank, VTB, Gazprombank, Rosselkhozbank and VEB, which had limited access to EU capital markets. Later, Brussels introduced the same restrictions in relation to three oil companies, Transneft and Gazprom Neft - and three defense enterprises.
