The Bekas-M Auto shotgun was developed at the Vyatsko-Polyansky Machine-Building Plant in 2002 on the basis of the already proven Bekas Auto shotgun, which, in turn, was designed in 1997 on the basis of the Bekas pump-action shotgun.

Automatic reloading is carried out by using the energy of the powder gases removed from the barrel bore into the gas chamber, and the energy of the return spring. The gas chamber contains a gas unit that stabilizes the gas pressure on the piston of the moving parts, which makes the gun’s recoil softer when firing various shot and bullet cartridges. Available in 12x76, 12x70 and 16x70 cartridges.

The gun barrel is removable and connected to the receiver via a cap. The barrel bore is locked by rotating the locking wedge while moving the bolt frame longitudinally and by inserting the wedge into the groove of the barrel shank. The hammer-type trigger mechanism is mounted on a detachable base and allows for quick disassembly and maintenance of the Bekas-M auto gun.

“Bekas-M auto” ensures the production of a single shot and activation of a push-button safety. Tubular under-barrel magazine. The handguard is located on the magazine body. Sights – ventilated rib for barrels with lengths of 680, 720 and 750 mm; or separate front and rear sights for barrels 535 mm long.

On the top of the receiver there is a base for mounting an optical sight. The design of the gun provides for the installation of a bolt stop and a cartridge cutter in the receiver. The cartridge cutter allows you to stop the exit and ejection of cartridges from the magazine. To reduce the overall weight of the gun, the receiver is made of light alloy.

The forend and butt are made of walnut. For ease of shooting, the buttstock is made with a rubber butt pad-shock absorber. To increase the durability of the gun and corrosion resistance, the bore and chamber of the barrel, as well as the gas chamber, are chrome-plated. The pistons of the gas unit are made of stainless steel. The design of the gas unit provides automatic adjustment of the pressure in the gas chamber, taking into account the differences in the intra-ballistic characteristics of cartridges of various equipment.

To expand the operational capabilities of the gun, barrels are 680, 720 and 750 mm long. issued in the muzzle with a base for installing choke nozzles such as “cylinder”, “choke”, “poluchok”, barrel extensions, as well as “paradox” nozzles. To eliminate possible inertial puncture of the capsule, the bolt striker is spring-loaded. The design of the gun eliminates the possibility of firing when the bolt is unlocked.

Currently, the Bekas-M Auto gun is not produced.

A brief history of the appearance of the Bekas series guns

The first pump-action hunting shotgun Bekas was released in 1997 in Vyatsko-Polyansky. It was a 16-caliber weapon called Bekas-16. In the hunting environment, the first models were called Snipe-pump, since at that time the name “Bekas” explained little to the hunter.

In 1999, a new Bekas appeared, called Bekas-12. It was a 12 gauge gun, which is so popular among Russian hunters.

Soon a new Bekas appeared, called Bekas-M. This weapon was produced in two modifications:

  • Bekas-12M – 12 gauge pump-action weapon;
  • Bekas-16M – 16 gauge weapon;
  • VPO-202 Bekas-12M is a shotgun chambered for 12-gauge Magnum cartridges.

These models have the full index Bekas RP-16 (12)M, but most often they are simply called Bekas 12 (16)M. All guns in the Bekas series have a manual type of reloading, which occurs due to the movement of the sliding fore-end.

Operating principle

The choice of gun depends on the individual wishes of the hunter.
When a shot is fired, part of the released powder gases pushes the piston of the gas engine forward. This causes the bolt frame to slide backward, thereby ejecting the spent cartridge case. As a result, the impact mechanism is cocked and the return spring is compressed.

When the bolt moves in reverse voltage, the cartridge is fed by the elevator to the loading line. At the same time, the bolt cylinder swings upward and pushes the cartridge into the chamber. After this, the weapon is considered fully ready to fire. When the magazine is empty, the bolt frame is placed on hold.

Let's look at the process of loading a Bekas auto shotgun. To do this you should follow these steps:

  1. Turn on the fuse. To do this, you just need to move its lever to the left.
  2. Next, you should turn the gun so that the magazine hopper window is at the top.
  3. Pull the slide stop lever, after which you should push the elevator down.
  4. The supply of cartridges to the magazine should be carried out in such a way that the muzzle of the cartridges faces forward.

Those projectiles that require a pointed type bullet are prohibited from being used. The reason for this is possible damage to the primer.

To load the fourth cartridge, turn the cut-off lever so that it points backward. This action is necessary to hold the cartridges in the magazine and activate the bolt stop mode.

Various modifications of hunting rifles of the Bekas series and their characteristics

The production of Bekas hunting rifles is based on a modular principle. In this regard, the necessary modification can be easily made from the basic model of a pump-action shotgun. To do this, just change the required module or several modules. For example, if you need to turn a hunting modification of the Bekas-Auto into a gun for self-defense, which can be used as a powerful analogue of a pistol, it is enough to install a short barrel and remove the butt of the Bekas gun. Here is a list of the main parts of the Bekas gun, by changing which you can turn the gun into a completely new modification:

  • The butt of a classic type gun. Having lost the weapon stock, the gun will become more convenient for shooting in confined spaces;
  • Pistol grip;
  • A line of interchangeable barrels of different calibers and lengths. The caliber can be either 16 or 12. Moreover, 12 gauge can also be chambered for Magnum cartridges. The length of gun barrels can be from 535 to 750 mm.

Despite these nuances, there are factory modifications that differ slightly from each other.

Smoothbore carbine model Bekas-16M/RP-16M: parameters and reviews

The smoothbore guns on the market today help shooting enthusiasts fully realize their desires: a variety of models with excellent technical capabilities, affordable prices and the ability to choose a basic configuration make it possible to demonstrate all the capabilities of the chosen type of weapon for hunting. And among analogues that have similar characteristics and have a lot of positive reviews from both buyers of a hunting rifle and its owners, we should dwell separately on the Bekas-16M/RP-16M pump-action smoothbore rifle, which is recognized as the most successful in the Bekas series line (including including Bekas Auto, 12M, etc.).

Possessing good shooting performance, this carbine, originally intended for professional hunting, ensures both the effectiveness of the shots taken and safety during shooting due to the existing locking mechanism and thoughtful design. Comfort when shooting is ensured by the ergonomics of each design detail, and the ability to replace the classic stock with a pistol grip makes it possible to operate the carbine most conveniently - and this is important for women and men with different palm sizes.

Bekas-16 and its modifications

This model is the oldest in the pump-action shotgun family. This is a classic 16 gauge pump action shotgun. As with all pump-action shotguns, reloading of this weapon is carried out by moving the forend, which moves along a special tube of the under-barrel magazine. The magazine holds 6 rounds, another one can be in the barrel of the weapon.

Although this version of the gun was the very first in the family, it was produced in the following modifications:

  • Basic Bekas, which is also called Bekas-16. This modification is created exclusively for hunting. It has a standard rifle stock and a long barrel of 717 mm;
  • Snipe-1. This gun is great for self-defense or security. In extreme cases it can be used for hunting. In the latter case, it is recommended to shoot only at short distances. This gun has a barrel length of 572 mm;
  • Bekas-2 is another model for self-defense. Its difference from the Bekas-1 shotgun is the absence of a butt. Instead, there is a pistol grip. This version of the gun is suitable for those who are used to shooting from a pistol;
  • Bekas-3 is a universal set for all occasions. It is this model that clearly demonstrates the modularity of the Bekas rifle system. The set consists of two interchangeable barrels of different lengths, a rifle butt, and a pistol grip. With such a weapon you can effectively go hunting, and if necessary, it can easily be converted into a short gun, convenient for self-defense or protecting private property.

Since the Bekas-16 model, which appeared in 1997, did not satisfy the needs of some hunters accustomed to 12-gauge shotguns, the Bekas-12 model, which has a 12-gauge, soon appeared. After some time, they decided that they needed to create a single model, which could be in both 16 and 12 gauge. This is how the Bekas-M model appeared, which was available in both 12 and 16 gauge.

Specifications

If we talk about Bekas guns in terms of numbers, then they need to be given for each model separately. It goes without saying that depending on the length of the barrel and magazine, the total length of the weapon and its weight will change.

Nevertheless, we can give figures for those models that are currently produced by Molot-Weapon LLC:

  1. VPO-202-04 - offered with a barrel length of 535 millimeters and a magazine with a capacity of 6 rounds. The weight of the weapon without ammunition is 2.8 kilograms, and the total length is 844 millimeters. The weapon does not have a butt, and only the pistol grip is used to hold it when shooting;
  2. VPO-202-04 is a shotgun with a classic rifle butt. The barrel length is 750 millimeters, which, taking into account the length of the butt, gives a total length of 1301 mm. Weight without ammunition - 3.3 kilograms. Magazine capacity – 6 rounds;
  3. The VPO-202-09 shotgun is equipped with a short barrel 535 millimeters long and a fixed rifle butt. The total length of the weapon is 1086 millimeters, weight without ammunition is 3.15 kg.

All three versions of the gun are designed for use with 12-gauge ammunition with case lengths of 76 and 70 millimeters.

Bekas-M and Bekas-M Auto

Bekas-M is an improved version of the basic models of the Bekas family. Although the gun has remained virtually unchanged in appearance, there have been several improvements in the design that have been able to increase the accuracy of the pump-action shotgun and increase the firing distance.

Bekas-M Auto is practically no different from the Bekas-M modification, except for one interesting feature - this pump-action shotgun has a powder gas discharge system and is equipped with a smart cut-off system. In this regard, this shotgun reloads automatically, using the energy of the powder gases and the action of the return spring.

Bekas-M Auto is available in the following modifications:

  • Chambered for 12x70 mm caliber;
  • Chambered for 16x70 mm;
  • The latest Bekas-M Auto model is designed specifically for 12x76 Magnum cartridges. This model additionally has a gas engine equipped with automatic adjustment.

Although many hunters are distrustful of the Bekas-M Auto series shotguns, over the years of operation this shotgun has proven itself to be a very reliable weapon.

The barrel is locked into 3 lugs by turning the bolt.

The optical sight bracket, with a side mount familiar to Russian hunters, makes it possible to shoot from an open sight without removing the optical sight.

There are 3 main modifications of the Vepr-Hunter carbines available:

a barrel with a slot-type muzzle brake, the front sight block is combined with a gas chamber (“Vepr-Hunter”).

barrel without a muzzle brake, the front sight block is located at the muzzle (Vepr-Hunter M);

"Vepr-Hunter V" is produced with an upper bracket for mounting a sight.

The design of the carbine with a solid walnut Monte Carlo stock and semi-pistol grip makes it convenient for offhand shooting.

Hunting carbine model 98K Not many small arms can rightfully be considered a standard of engineering and technological thought.
Carbines of the Mauser system can be considered a masterpiece of weapons art. The Mauser rifle, model 1898, the main standard weapon of the German army during the First and Second World Wars, became the basis for the manufacture of the 98K carbine. The bolt of the carbine is longitudinally sliding with a handle rotated 90°, locking is carried out on 3 lugs, two of which are located in the front part of the bolt, and one in the rear.

Also, a flag-type fuse is mounted on the back of the bolt. In the “fire” position, shooting is carried out, in the 1st position of the safety the trigger is blocked, in the 2nd position both the trigger and the bolt itself are blocked. This system allows you to safely load the carbine.

The fixed 5-round magazine, located in the receiver, does not protrude beyond the dimensions of the stock. The magazine is loaded through a window in the receiver. The design provides for loading both one cartridge and a clip. A special feature of the magazine is that it can be opened from below by pressing on the latch and sliding the cover to the side, which makes it easy to unload the carbine.

Open sector sight, flat with a gradation of 100 m.

Shotguns of the Bekas VPO-201 series

The new Bekas VPO-201 shotguns have a gas unit, which greatly simplifies reloading the weapon. The Bekas VPO-201M modification has a new design gas unit installed. Its difference from a standard gas unit is the use of a piston without adjustment, which increased the reliability of this unit and the shotgun as a whole. Snipe VPO-201 is designed to fire 12x76 Magnum cartridges. Shotguns with a 76 mm chamber length allow the use of shorter 70 mm cartridges.

Bekas-201M is a pump-action shotgun, which is made in a classic style using wood. As a rule, this is a nut. The butt of the gun is anatomically shaped, and the receiver has a Weaver rail, on which you can install a wide range of sights, ranging from simple optical sights to night sights.

The new Bekas-201M comes complete with two barrels of different lengths. The short barrel is intended for bullet shooting, and the long barrel is intended for shot shooting. Since the use of the new gas assembly allows the use of magazine extensions, 3- and 6-round extensions are included.

Equipment and ammunition for the gun

At different times, the equipment of Bekas shotguns, both 16 and 12 gauge, was different. If we take the first options that went on sale, Bekas-3 was equipped with two barrels of different lengths. Taking into account the fact that replacing the barrel of a weapon does not pose any problem, and the barrels themselves were sold separately, it was possible to purchase the shortest version of the gun, and then separately purchase longer barrels and magazine extensions, thus obtaining two different weapon options in one. It was possible to observe a variety of configuration options in stores that were not factory-made, since the sellers themselves offered to purchase certain additions to the weapon. This applies to all weapons with the name Bekas, including modern ones.

Several variants of guns based on one weapon

Separately, it should be mentioned that complete with weapons you can find several options for choke constrictions.

Advantages and disadvantages of Bekas series shotguns

The main advantages of Bekas pump-action shotguns are as follows:

  • Pump-action shotguns around the world are famous as trouble-free and very reliable. According to these factors, they are slightly inferior to double-barreled shotguns, but they are superior in rate of fire. Since after a misfire, a gun of this type can be quickly reloaded, this has made it very popular among the police and intelligence services of various countries;
  • The bore is chrome plated. This makes cleaning the gun much easier. The barrel provides space for installing nozzles with various choke constrictions;
  • Shotguns of 12x76 caliber make it possible to shoot cartridges with a case length of 76 mm. The use of shorter cartridges slightly worsens the accuracy and range of the weapon, but you can be sure that it will not fall apart in the hands of a hunter;
  • The long handguard with a notch makes the reloading process very convenient. Judging by the reviews of hunters, they do not experience any discomfort when reloading, despite different anatomical features;
  • The gun has excellent ballistic characteristics. This affects both shot and bullet shooting;
  • Thanks to the presence of a special lever, you can stop the movement of the shotgun bolt frame halfway. This can help remove a round from the chamber without feeding other rounds from the magazine. Thanks to this feature, it is possible to urgently load a weapon with one cartridge of a different caliber;
  • The half-pistol stock is made very comfortable, so it does not cause any complaints from hunters;
  • The gun is quite light, so it can be used for long walking hunts.

Snipe shotguns also have their disadvantages:

  • For hunting, the sound of the reloading mechanism is too loud; in the forest it can be clearly heard at a considerable distance. The loudest sound is heard when the bolt cylinder wedge engages a special cutout, which is located in the barrel shank;
  • When fired with shot, 12-gauge cartridges, although they increase the radius of destruction, at the same time create a very powerful recoil. This feature makes a 12-gauge shotgun not suitable for all hunters. In addition, when shooting without a stock, the possibility of injury increases many times over, since strong recoil can simply fly the gun into the hunter’s forehead;
  • The butt plate is non-adjustable, which is very criticized by experienced hunters.

Snipe 16M - through the eyes of the owner.

Now the opportunity has arisen to talk about my Bekasik.
I have Bekas 16M, pump, 16 gauge. I took it in configuration 01, i.e. a “short” barrel (535 mm) and a butt (Bekas RP-16M-01). Technical characteristics (such as weight, length, etc.) can be found here https://www.molot.biz/product/b.php This is my first gun. The choice was difficult and painful, and there was not even a thought about the pump ( https://guns.allzip.org/topic/1/2110.html ), but in the end I chose HIM ( https://guns.allzip.org /topic/1/2400.html ) That's all the lyrics, now some information. Using the advice of Dr. Watson and ". in order to avoid “thoughts spreading along the tree.” "(c) sorting:

I bought it as my first gun. Goals: a. Home defense. b. Babahing. V. Self-defense while hiking. d. Introducing the wife to weapons.

The weapon fulfills all purposes. A. The wife has been briefed, the gun is in a state of readiness, just take it out of the safe - throw a cartridge into the chamber and . b. Babahig is cool - see reviews in “Organizing Meetings”. V. Considering the fact that I now have a pistol grip, my Snipe now fits in a backpack. And my wife is slowly getting involved, shooting and even hitting

2. Selection criteria and what requires attention when choosing

I wanted a caliber smaller than 12, in order to reduce recoil and weight. At first I didn’t plan to take the pump. Someone advised me when I was struggling with my choice. I started searching and found the Hammer website. At first I looked at the 05-07 configuration, with two barrels, a stock and a handle, but it’s expensive, and I don’t need a long barrel (I’m not a hunter). I bought it at Ordom in Mytishchi, it cost me a little more than 6,000 rubles (I think 6,200). I didn’t choose, I took the first one out of the box. There were no complaints about the copy. If you take options with two barrels and a handle/stock or buy a handle/stock, check compatibility with the receiver. There are 2 versions of Bekas: “old”, not modernized and M (modernized) they have a different shape of the receiver. See point 7 for more details.

Well, this is more about rifled But seriously. Up to 50 m I confidently get where I want. I shot from 52 meters (according to the rangefinder) with a Polev (Pozis) bullet. 3 shots - 3 hits on the target, all in a 15cm circle. I like. I’m not a sniper yet, and what more could you want from a short barrel.

5. Problems that have arisen and how to overcome them

The problems were minor and yet

A. Knocking out the cartridge under the feeder tray. When you don’t fully insert the cartridge into the magazine (there is no click), you just remove your finger and it (the cartridge) snaps out under the feeder tray. This is bad. In a “combat” situation, you are screwed. You can only shoot what is already in the barrel. It is no longer possible to distort the forend. You have to either disassemble the gun, or carefully use a knife or screwdriver to drive the cartridge into the magazine. But. This is not a Bekas problem. It's a problem for the person loading the weapon. If you have the skill, this is excluded. What if you don’t have the skill? so you can’t insert a cartridge into a two-gun with shaking hands

b. The "wedge" of the cartridge in the chamber. Happened 2 times (out of 100) with Pozis cartridges. Shot. handguard towards you. but it doesn’t go. We have to use force, either without lifting the butt from the shoulder, or by resting the butt on the thigh/ground, we distort it. Why is this? Maybe because of the deformation of the cartridge case in the chamber, maybe because of problems with the ejector, maybe because of the jerk of the forend towards itself at the moment of the shot (as they wrote in “Caliber”). Who knows ? I had it happen 2 times, both times I needed to apply a little more force and that was it.

V. Fuse wedge. Apparently, the wife put the gun on safety with the trigger pulled. And it (the fuse) jammed. I had to remove the trigger and use force. Everything worked.

d. The possibility of replacing the stock with a handle is inconveniently implemented. The “advertising” talks about the possibility of a quick replacement, but... this is not entirely true. The butt is attached with a long screw, you can only get it out with a very long screwdriver, but then. This screw is not screwed into the receiver itself, but into a cracker, which is inserted into the grooves inside the receiver. And if you removed the butt, resting the barrel on the ground, then this cracker will “go” deep into the gun and you will have to remove the trigger and tighten the butt/handle screw while holding the cracker from the inside. The first time I “fell into it cool”

There were no more “problems”

6. Advice to the neophyte and personal impressions.

I recommend. A good choice, especially for pump-action fans. There are options in 12 and 16 gauge. High quality barrel and overall build. With a long barrel (with a rail) and a butt, it’s quite a hunting option, with a short barrel and butt - a tactical shotgun, with a short barrel and handle - a friend of tourists and drivers. Very comfortable handguard, compared with IZH81 - heaven and earth. The forend is located close to the receiver, there is no need to reach far; when moving towards you, it floats onto the receiver. Long arms are definitely not needed and clothes are not a hindrance.

“+” reliability, multiple charges, high quality, adaptability (IMHO), excellent butt plate. It’s a small thing, but it’s nice - the butt plate is thick, rubbery and very comfortable. There is almost no recoil at 16k, a comfortable handguard, a large selection of configurations - 4 barrels (of different lengths), incl. with an aiming bar, interchangeable attachments, stock/pistol grip, easy assembly/disassembly. Everything is very simple and clear.

“-” low prevalence - there are few Hammer dealers. At least here in Toltti/Samara, Hammer weapons are rare. "hydrophobia" of the tree. I haven’t encountered this myself, but they said that the tree swells very easily from water. It is easy to scratch the receiver. Naturally, it is not steel, but made of aluminum alloy. And it is not recommended to place sights directly on the original grooves. The poor grip/stock mounting system requires skill and “muscle” memory to load the magazine and “reload with the forend.” Very reliable, but you can't change it quickly.

7. Optional: Differences between the “new” (modernized) Snipe and the “old” Snipe.

A. Different receiver shapes. Outwardly it is simply different: the “old” Snipe has a bird (snipe) drawn on it. The shape is different: the “old” Snipe tapers towards the butt, compared to the “new” b. Various USMs. On the “new” Bekas, the trigger does not protrude beyond the receiver, but on the “old” it does. In combination with point “A”, this leads to the fact that the butts and handles are not interchangeable. Moreover, if the handle/stock from the “old” Bekas can be installed on the “new” one: there will be a recess under the trigger (not filled with anything) and there will be a mismatch with the receiver. But you can’t put a “new” handle/stock on the “old” Bekas - the protruding trigger will get in the way. 3. The “new” Bekas has a push-button fuse, while the “old” one has a flag fuse. The flag one is more familiar, it can be moved to the left side, but it is not convenient and is too fuzzy/light (IMHO). 4. Different shape of the forend. The “old” Bekas has a forend a la IZH81 (classic), with “transverse rings”, expanding towards the base. The “new” one has fine grooves, the same thickness along the entire length. I liked the new one better. But this is a matter of taste 5. Different barrels and sights. At least on a short barrel, the following is noticeable: there is no front sight, there is only a rear sight and a “short rib”, but somehow unexpressed. And another place and method of attaching the barrel to the tubular magazine. 6. The “old” Bekas has a solid feeder tray. It is not good. If a cartridge is knocked out under the tray (if the magazine is not equipped correctly), bend it into the magazine incorrectly. have to be taken apart. In the “new” Bekas, the tray is made in the form of a frame and the cartridge can be picked up and directed into the magazine (with a knife or screwdriver). 7. Butt mount. If I understand correctly, then on the “old” Bekas the fastening screw is screwed directly into the receiver and this is good.

Design features of Bekas pump-action shotguns

The Bekas pump-action shotgun has the following distinctive features:

  • Shotguns of the Bekas series are smooth-bore weapons with a pump-action type of reloading;
  • All guns in the series have cold forged barrels with high-quality blued finish. The bore is chrome plated;
  • The tubular-type under-barrel magazine usually holds 6 rounds, although there are modifications for 3 rounds;
  • The receiver of the gun is cast from aluminum alloy. The hopper window through which charging occurs is located on the bottom edge;
  • The bolt has a swinging cylinder, which, clinging to the cutout in the breech shank, locks the barrel;
  • Non-adjustable trigger mechanism of pump-action shotguns Bekas trigger type;
  • The fuse box has two positions. If the fuse is in the “off” position, then the bolt frame can only be opened halfway, and the cartridge will not be fed and the firing pin will not be cocked;
  • The cartridge cutter also functions as a safety device. When pressed, the bolt carrier can move completely, allowing the cartridge to be removed from the barrel. At the same time, the firing pin is cocked, but cartridges from the magazine do not enter the elevator.

Standard sights include a simple bronze front sight and a ventilated rib. It is possible to mount a wide range of different sights on the gun. Although some hunters equip their pump-action shotguns with optical sights, the best choice for a shotgun is a red dot sight.

Pros and cons of the Bekas gun

The main advantage of Snipe guns of all generations and variants is their simplicity. Moreover, this is not only ease of maintenance and operation. Replacing the barrel or changing the magazine capacity does not require any special tools or skills: all this is available to the average gun owner who has a minimum set of household hand tools and hands.

The reliability of the design, proven over many decades, is also beyond doubt; this is confirmed by both factory tests and consumer operating experience. But there are also negative aspects.

One of the weapon configuration options from the seller

The main drawback of this gun lies, again, in its design. Hunters are very unhappy with the noise that weapons make during reloading. Despite the presence of a safety lock and the overall reliability of the trigger mechanism, not everyone wants to carry a weapon with a cartridge in the chamber with the trigger cocked. Claims are also made about individual weapons: no matter how hard the manufacturer tries, there is still a difference in quality.

In general, the gun makes a pretty good impression, especially in terms of the quality of the barrels and, as a consequence, the accuracy of the fire. It can be safely recommended as the first gun to understand what exactly is needed for your goals and objectives, as well as to learn how to care and maintain firearms.

We value the opinions of our readers. If anyone has experience with the Bekas gun, they would be happy to discuss it in the comments.

The process of disassembling and assembling Bekas pump-action shotguns

Disassembly of the Bekas pump-action shotgun occurs according to the following scheme:

  1. First you need to unload your weapon. To do this, you first need to press a special lever, which is located above the trigger, after which you need to move the forend back and remove the cartridge from the chamber;
  2. After removing the cartridge, you need to move the elevator inside the receiver of the gun, while the forend must be moved as far back as possible and empty the magazine of cartridges;
  3. After carrying out the procedure for discharging a pump-action shotgun, it is necessary to carry out a control release of the trigger. In this case, the barrel of the weapon must be directed upward;
  4. The next step is to remove the barrel coupling. To do this, you need to unscrew the figured nut on the coupling;
  5. Next, the forend is pulled back to separate the cylinder from the breech. After this, the barrel is removed;
  6. The impact mechanism is removed from the receiver and the rod lock from the bolt frame;
  7. Next you need to get the bolt frame itself;
  8. At the last stage of disassembly, the forend is removed and the bolt is taken out.

Assembling the weapon occurs in strictly reverse order. If you violate the algorithm, it is unlikely that you will be able to assemble the gun.

Pump-action shotguns have long gained popularity among those hunters who prefer to use pump-action shotguns for hunting. They note the accuracy and sharpness of the combat of this weapon, its “omnivorousness” in relation to ammunition of various calibers, but at the same time they complain about the strong recoil of 12-gauge shotguns. Judging by sales on the secondary market, the guns are more popular than Izhevsk pump-action shotguns, since they go on sale much less often.

Review of the Bekas-16M/RP-16M carbine

The appearance of the Bekas-16M/RP-16M model carbine can be considered classic: the absence of distracting parts, a large number of capabilities that provide unique technical characteristics laid down at the time of manufacture of the carbine, as well as good shooting performance (these usually include shooting accuracy, the ability hitting a distant target, the accuracy of shots ensuring effectiveness and destruction, the range, which directly depends on the initial speed of the bullet) made the model especially popular.

While attracting attention already upon purchase, the Bekas-16M/RP-16M carbine never ceases to amaze during its operation. The reliability of the entire structure, the possibility of quick partial disassembly and tuning ensure the constant demand for the model.

The use of high-quality natural wood in the design of the carabiner makes its “appearance” especially memorable: a special type of processing of natural materials ensures that the model’s appearance remains attractive for a long time, protecting it from moisture and temperature.

And the method of manufacturing the barrel (cold forging method) allows us to speak about the guaranteed preservation of its perfectly straight shape and strength, which is especially important with frequent mechanical impacts on the barrel, which is inevitable during active use of the carbine.

This video gives an overview and shows the use of the Bekas-16M/RP-16M shotgun:

Advantages and disadvantages

A longitudinally sliding forend, which is the basis for pump-action reloading of shotguns for hunting, is a particularly convenient option for these purposes. The ease of the reloading process and its simplicity allows even novice shooters to operate the Bekas-16M/RP-16M carbine. Also, the following parameters should be considered among the positive qualities of the considered variety of the Bekas line:

  • excellent external characteristics - classic design in the best traditions using natural wood attracts the attention of buyers and brings pleasure in the process of using the carbine;
  • ergonomics of parts and thoughtfulness of the entire design are an important component of the successful use of the model;
  • the ability to replace a conventional stock with a pistol grip makes it possible to increase the level of comfort;
  • easy and quick adjustment of the weapon to a specific shooter;
  • a simple device that allows the Bekas-16M/RP-16M model to be used even by beginners. For this reason, combined with the ease and simplicity of reloading, it can be used as a relatively simple training model;
  • Compactness and relatively low weight make the carbine easy to transport - this quality is especially important during its active use.

And if you add ideal shooting performance and an affordable price to the listed positive characteristics, then you can see to a greater extent the quality of execution and use of the Bekas-16M/RP-16M hunting carbine.

However, to fully assess the qualities of the hunting rifle in question, it is necessary to analyze its existing shortcomings, which may be the result of both the manufacturer’s shortcomings and carelessness in its use. And among the disadvantages of the Bekas-16M/RP-16M model, some owners include the frequent dropout of the cartridge from the chamber during reloading, which is a serious disadvantage in the shooting process: in self-defense, such a dropout can play into the hands of an attacker. However, with some training and bringing the bolt to a characteristic click, the likelihood of a cartridge falling out of the chamber decreases significantly.

Purpose

The manufacturer of the Bekas-16M/RP-16M model was originally intended as a hunting model, but when using it, it turned out that this carbine performs well both in sports competitions in accuracy and in entertainment. Also, due to its capabilities, it can be used for necessary self-defense.

Varieties
