Beretta CX4 Storm

is a pistol-caliber semi-automatic carbine aimed at the sporting, personal defense and law enforcement markets. It is available in two models, one for 92/96 magazines, and the other for Px4 series magazines, each available in 9×19mm Parabellum, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, and 9×21mm.

Beretta MX4 Storm

is a military version of the CX4 Storm that is capable of fully automatic fire. [1] It has a 12-inch barrel and is most often used with a 30-round magazine.

Review of the Umarex Storm CX4 air rifle

The Umarex Beretta Storm cx4 is an excellent airgun that stands out for its relatively low cost, reliable mechanism, and excellent accuracy, which puts this rifle on par with elite and more expensive models. The CX4 is well suited for both amateurs and athletes to participate in competitions and tournaments.

The magazine's roller mechanism, as well as a rifled barrel, makes it possible to shoot lead bullets with good ejection speed and excellent accuracy. Power comes from a CO2 cartridge, which is installed in the butt.

This weapon comes with a Blowback system, which simulates the recoil of a shot from a real weapon, which, combined with the overall design with a combat analogue, creates the feeling of a real weapon.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of the Umarex Strom Cx4 rifle include:

  • German quality manufacturing, as well as checking weapons before sale will help avoid defects;
  • High shooting accuracy;
  • High bullet ejection speed;
  • The presence of a weaver bar, which will allow you to install a sighting device;
  • The price is low relative to most competitors;
  • One cylinder is enough for a fairly impressive number of shots;
  • Quite light weight, as well as compact dimensions;
  • Semi-automatic firing mode.

There are also disadvantages:

  • Receiver made of plastic;
  • Extremely difficult disassembly, which is almost impossible to carry out at home;
  • Sharp descent and inconvenient location of the safety button and magazine latch.

Purpose

Due to its high accuracy, this rifle is well suited for sports shooting, as it provides an effective range of 40-50 meters. One can also note the considerable popularity of this weapon among hardball fans. For beginners, it’s better to choose something cheaper and only then determine whether a more expensive weapon is needed or whether what you already have is enough.

Modifications

At the moment, two modifications can be distinguished, but they do not have significant differences.

Beretta CX4 Storm XT - this version is identical to the original in all respects and differs only in the delivery package, namely, it additionally includes a bipod with a mount on the fore-end and a weaver bar, a closed-type optical sight, as well as a barrel attachment.

Beretta CX4 Storm Commando - this version is also no exception and includes only another delivery option, namely with an attachment on the forend with two side and one lower weave bar, as well as a collimator sight similar to the army AKOG.

This option will be a more optimal solution than the previous or basic version.

Operating principle

When the trigger is pressed in its extreme position, a sharp descent occurs and the valve opens to release gas. In this case, part of the gas is spent on the shot itself, and part goes to the blowback system, which creates recoil. On the one hand, it creates the feeling of a real weapon, and on the other, it significantly increases gas consumption.

Aligning the cartridge on the same axis with the valve and barrel occurs using the rifle's own means and compressed air. Before starting shooting and after inserting a fresh cylinder and magazines, you will need to tighten the charging handle.

  • India: On February 14, 2011, BSF (Border Security Force) personnel placed an order for 34,377 carbines. The weapons were delivered in two batches: the first batch of 17,000 was delivered in September 2011, and the second batch of 17,377 was delivered by March 30, 2012. In January 2012, BSF personnel found excessive metal deposits, tool scratches and corrosion in 2,374 carbines. and the barrels of four carbines swelled during testing. On 27 March 2012, the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs asked Beretta to replace 573 carbines. He blamed defects in some other rifles on improper cleaning and the use of poor ammunition. Another order was made for 34 thousand carbines. The total order of 68,377 Storm carbines is ₹2,504 crore (US$417.3 million). [ citation needed

Disassembly

Disassembling the body of the Beretta storm cx4 rifle is quite simple; to do this, you need to remove the optical sight and all additional accessories, and then unscrew all the bolts. When assembling, you must be careful, since the sights and the cocking spring must be in place.

Next you will have access to the trigger mechanism housing. It is not recommended to disassemble it yourself at home, at least without extensive experience working with air guns.

The Berretta CX4 Storm carbine is the first product of the new X4 Storm line from the famous Italian company Beretta, which currently also includes the PX4 pistol and the RX4 semi-automatic rifle in 5.56 mm (.223) caliber. This carbine appeared in the early 2000s and is designed to provide civilian gun owners with a compact and convenient weapon for sport shooting and self-defense. When developing this weapon, much attention was paid not only to technical, but also to aesthetic aspects. The CX4 Storm carbine is elegant and easy to use; its controls can be adapted for both right-handed and left-handed people. Relocating the controls requires disassembling the weapon (the company recommends contacting a gunsmith). In addition, the carbine offers a wide range of accessories, including user-installable optional Picatinny Rails, stock extensions, and more. Like any carbine chambered for a pistol cartridge, the effective firing range is 100-150 meters, especially when using a low-power optical sight or a red dot sight. This is a universal carbine for self-defense or recreational shooting, easy to use and with minimal recoil.

The Beretta CX4 Storm carbine is a semi-automatic weapon that uses the recoil energy of a blowback action. Shooting is carried out from a closed bolt. The bolt surrounds the barrel and most of its mass is located around the breech. The reload handle can be located on the right or left side of the weapon. The ejector and reflector can be reinstalled so that spent cartridges are ejected to the right or left (there are ejection windows on both sides of the weapon). The receiver consists of two parts made of impact-resistant polymer and connected by a cross pin. The trigger mechanism is single action, equipped with internal safety devices that prevent the shot from being fired when dropped on a hard surface, or in other similar cases. The manual safety is a push-button type, located above the trigger guard and can be adjusted for both the right and left hand. The magazine receiver is located in the pistol grip, the magazine release button is placed on either side. The Beretta CX4 Storm carbine accepts magazines from Beretta 92/96 (9mm and .40 SW calibers, respectively) or Beretta 8000/8040/8045 (9 mm / .40 SW / .45ACP calibers, respectively). The type of magazine used is determined by special inserts in the handle. Standard sights include a fully adjustable front sight and a flip-out rear sight. To install optical sights on top of the receiver, an optional Picatinny rail can be installed. Three additional guides of the same type can be installed on the forend - below and on the sides.

Which optics should you choose?

Since this air pistol has a bullet ejection speed of 170 m/s, as well as an effective firing range of up to 40-50 meters, it is best to choose a collimator sight, as it will provide sufficient accuracy. It is also worth remembering about the recoil when firing, which not all Chinese devices can survive.

Installing any device will not take much time and labor, since the rifle is equipped with a Picatinny rail, but be careful, as mounting on a weaver rail will not work.

You can also choose optical sights with magnification, but at a distance of up to 50 meters they will not be of any noticeable use.
