Multi-charge air pistol MP-655k, based on Grach

Science and technology do not stand still, so successful weapon models that have proven themselves on the positive side still sooner or later become obsolete. For example, the Makarov pistol (PM) has become a real legend, but it no longer fits into the conditions of equipping a modern army. The Russian defense industry has come to the need for rearmament, and the place of the PM should be taken by a fundamentally new high-quality model.

This model was created in 1995. Its developer was the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant. Model 6P35 was named “Yarygin Pistol” in honor of the chief designer.

The new weapon met all modern requirements. The magazine volume was increased, the impact characteristics of the pistol were increased, and, most importantly, the pistol was adapted for firing different types of cartridges. By 2000, Yarygin’s pistol received another nickname, now this model is known as “Rook”. It became the winner of field tests, so in 2003 it began to be supplied to the armed forces. Over time, “Rook” began to displace its predecessor.

Manufacturers also did not forget about fans of weapons culture, so an air pistol was produced on the basis of the 6P35, which is a complete copy of Hrach. Several models of pneumatics are known, but the most popular is the MP-655K model.

Pneumatic model device

The similarity of some components of the pneumatic Rook with parts of military weapons is evidenced by the fact that the pneumatic is also assembled at the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant. In appearance, these two pistols are quite difficult to distinguish from each other. As for the technical characteristics, then, naturally, pneumatic weapons are inferior in terms of impact performance.

The MP-655K has the most common caliber for pneumatics, which is 4.5 mm. With a weapon length of 200 mm, its weight is 700 g. The barrel cannot be called light, because many parts are made of weapon steel, like those of its military progenitor. However, there are also individual components made of plastic.

The main elements experiencing loads are made of metal, these are the bolt frame, the internal trigger mechanism and the safety mechanism. Thanks to the strength of the material, the pistol is as reliable as its combat counterpart. The barrel length is 110 mm, it is rifled and is located under the false barrel.

The MP-655K pistol safety allows you to fire and control the pistol with the right and left hands, as it is double-sided. The switch is made in the form of a flag having two positions.

But the barrel cannot be called symmetrical, since the bolt is located only on the left side of the bolt.

Gas-type pneumatics are characterized by the presence of a compartment for a can of carbon dioxide. In this model, this compartment is located in the pistol grip. There is also a special bunker in which balls (bullets) are stored.

The sighting device deserves special attention. If the front sight is rigidly attached to the body, the rear sight can be adjusted in two planes. The shot is initiated by pressing the trigger. In this case, the compressed gas is able to push the bolt back and reload the pistol.

The energy of the ejected bullet increases due to the expansion of the gas in the can. The task of the firing mechanism is to dose the portion of gas required for one shot. The double-action mechanism is rarely found in pneumatic models, but here the manufacturers tried to bring the copy as close as possible to the combat analogue. You can shoot by pre-cocking the hammer, or use the self-cocking mode.

Pneumatic pistol Yarygin MP-655K Baikal (Rook) - features

When deciding to purchase pneumatics, buyers ask questions about the advantages, features, and disadvantages of a particular weapon model. The features of Hrach MP-655 include:

1. Light weight.

2. The ability to fire two types of projectiles: explosive balls, lead bullets.

3. Hopper for 100 explosive balls of 4.5 mm caliber.

4. Valve device for gas cylinder and spare shells (maximum quantity 30 pieces).

5. Excellent equipment: gun, valve device, spare insulating rings, two clips, cleaning rod.

6. Adjustable rear sight.

7. Possibility of full operation by both right-handed and left-handed people.

8. A strap for fixing laser sights, under-barrel lights, and accessories.

Housing MP-655K cal. The 4.5mm is made of gun-grade plastic, a shockproof material with a long service life. Spare parts, chassis - metal.

Characteristics

The result of firing a pistol can be predicted. That is why every potential buyer is obliged to get acquainted with the tactical and technical characteristics. Mostly, pneumatics are purchased for the purpose of recreational shooting, but a significant portion of owners use this type of weapon as a means of self-defense.

  • On the one hand, the weapon must be effective in stopping and neutralizing the attacking enemy.
  • On the other hand, the owner of the weapon himself should not become a criminal by causing damage to the aggressor.

In the barrel of a pistol, the balls accelerate to a speed of 110 m/s, but based on the value of the muzzle energy, the pistol is included in the category of permitted types of weapons that do not require licensing. The energy value is approximately 3 J.

Let us remind you that special permission from the licensing department will be required if this value exceeds 7.5 J.

The design of the pistol allows you to fire not only balls, but also “Diablo” lead bullets. When fully charged, the magazine will hold 8 bullets or 100 balls. One can is enough to shoot the entire magazine, as it is designed for 120 shots.

The false barrel of the pistol, which has a diameter of 13 mm, is not just decorative, but also has practical applications. By the way, the presence of a false barrel for pneumatics is considered rare. In this model, manufacturers not only imitated a combat analogue, but also adapted a false barrel for a bunker for balls. All 100 balls are placed in a special compartment, that is, the pistol is loaded not in the classical way (through the magazine), but through the bolt frame. Let us remind you that there is also a bullet hopper in the handle. You can load spare ammunition into it.

Advantages and disadvantages

A review of a particular pistol model, as a rule, is of interest to citizens who are just planning to buy it. It is not always possible to give an objective assessment based on technical characteristics. Meanwhile, not a single model is without its shortcomings, which many learn about only after purchase. In this case, it is useful to seek help from real owners who leave reviews on forums.

  • The first thing that amateurs note is the high level of manufacturing quality of the pistol. Even elements made of plastic have a high resource.
  • Owners are also attracted by the fact that the pistol is controlled quite naturally. All controls are located in their places, so the pistol is capable of maneuverable shooting, just like its combat “comrade”.
  • The safety catch extends on both sides, allowing right- or left-handed operation. The magazine latch also has a two-way action (here it must be remembered that the magazine is conditionally such, because the pistol charge comes from the bolt).

  • It is noteworthy that to activate the mechanisms you do not need to put in a lot of effort. Everything works smoothly and softly. Here it is appropriate to contrast the PM pistol, famous for its tight trigger pull.
  • If every ball loaded into a hopper means a potential shot, then one hundred shots without reloading the hopper is a very high figure. Thus, the capacity of the bunker is noted as an advantage of the model.
  • We have already indicated that the pistol is also adapted for firing bullets.
  • During shooting, you can adjust the sight in two directions; the presence of a Picatinny rail indicates the functionality of the device. You can use it to attach, for example, a flashlight.

Users complain that there could be fewer inscriptions on the body of the pistol; they are the ones that give away the dummy. During operation, play in the magazine is detected; it has nothing to do with technical characteristics, but the shooter still feels some discomfort. When fixing the magazine, this gap is visible between the heel and the handle. The shutter play already has consequences; it negatively affects the accuracy of fire.

As can be seen from the reviews, the pistol has very few negative characteristics. In general, Yarygin’s air pistol turned out to be quite functional, if you do not forget about its purpose and do not try to compare it with firearms.

Firearm original - MP-443 Grach

Pistol MP-443 Grach

A copy of Yarygin’s pistol is also produced - this US manufacturer called its 2013 gas-cylinder model Gletcher Grach. At the very beginning, two versions of this pistol were produced - the first was called Grach and was equipped with a blowback system, and the second - Grach-NBB (it did not have a blowback). However, the first model was soon discontinued, apparently due to low charging speed. We will tell you about the progenitor of all these pneumatic spears, the MP-443 Grach firearm. It is easily distinguished by the marking 6P35.

The pistol has a nine-millimeter caliber, which is twice as large as its pneumatic counterpart. And its weight is also greater - 0.95 kg. Length - 19.8 cm (barrel with six right-hand rifling has a length of 11.25 cm). The handle is made of durable plastic – Armamid. The barrel is cold forged from steel. There is a double-sided safety catch on the steel frame.

The trigger trigger is double, with an open trigger; the front sight has a common design with the bolt. The rear sight (not adjustable) is secured in the bolt groove using a dovetail.

The sighting devices have special white inserts - they help you not to miss a dark target or in poor lighting.

The magazine (holding 18 rounds) is removable, it is double-row, box-type, and its latch can be moved to either side. You can shoot both 9x19 Parabellum cartridges and 7N21 bullets. The initial speed of the latter will be no less than 465 meters per second, which corresponds to an energy of 550 joules. The pistol is produced by the Izhmekh plant, its price is approximately 15,000 rubles.

Device and circuit

The pistol operates on the basis of a mechanism that uses the recoil energy that occurs when the barrel recoils and locks. During cocking, the bolt is engaged with the barrel by the barrel coupling, and disengaged by a cam groove on the protrusion of this coupling. When the barrel channel is unlocked, the bolt continues to move further back - the spring is compressed and the trigger goes back. When straightened, the spring moves the bolt forward and sends a charge from the magazine into the chamber.

When the shooter presses the trigger, the connection between the trigger and the sear opens, the trigger hits the firing pin, and the hammer hits the cartridge. The gunpowder ignites, and the pressure of the powder gases, throwing the bullet forward, and pulling the bolt back. After a short stroke of the barrel, it disengages from the bolt, which continues to move until the spring compresses again, cocking the hammer. Next comes the next shot.

Features of this model

Unlike many of its counterparts, which have a magazine of only 8 rounds, the PYa has an eighteen-round capacity. And the bullets it fires have unusually high penetration. Convenience of shooting for left-handed and right-handed people is another feature of this pistol.

This Russian-made pistol, a variant of the Smith & Wesson air gun, is very popular in Russia. We are talking about the Anix A 112 air pistol. An overview of this model, technical characteristics, partial disassembly and other features can be found in this article. Before buying a Walter air pistol, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with its characteristics in this article and watch a video review.

Advantages and disadvantages

Pros:

  1. Possibility of using various bullets: both the “lethal” 7N21 and the international standard “Luger”.
  2. The pistol fits well in the palm of your hand (all working parts have a corrugated surface), shoots accurately, and is reliable.
  3. Trigger design to avoid snags.
  4. It is convenient to shoot with both the right and left hands - this is facilitated by the shape of the handle and the double-sided safety.
  5. Smooth trigger, large front sight and sight.

Minuses:

  1. Because of the tight spring, filling the magazine with cartridges is difficult - you have to push them in.
  2. When shooting non-standard bullets, they may become jammed.

Tips for assembly, disassembly

Disassembly:

  • We take the pistol by the handle, pressing the thumb on the latch holding the magazine. We are renting a store.
  • We put the safety catch in the lower position, and move the bolt back. We check the chamber and pull the trigger to be sure.
  • We pull the contactor out of the frame (we do this on the left, pushing it out from the right side).
  • We remove the barrel and bolt, carefully moving them along the guides.
  • We disconnect the rod, barrel and spring from the bolt. To do this, we grab the part of the coupling that protrudes, turn the barrel a little and move it forward until the breech goes beyond the bolt rammer.
  • We separate the rod with the spring from the barrel. Partial disassembly completed. Assembly occurs in the reverse order according to the diagram.

Where is the gun used?

Although it is not prohibited to carry pneumatic guns as a means of self-defense, there are many other, more effective devices that help ensure your own safety. Pneumatics are used mainly for recreational shooting. It would be good to practice with an air pistol for those who want to purchase a more serious weapon, for example, a traumatic weapon. Skills in pointing and holding weapons, as well as disassembling and assembling them, are practiced.

Even experts do not recommend using gas-cylinder pneumatics for self-defense, and the point here is not even that it will not cause significant damage and will not have a stopping effect. It is known that when shooting at open areas of the body, the enemy will still feel the effect of the bullet. But the real reason is the inability to quickly react and activate the gun. To fire a shot from the MP-655K, you need to charge the hopper with balls and install a gas cartridge.

The balls can be charged in advance, but it is recommended to insert the cylinder before direct shooting, since gas pressure decreases over time, and in a few hours it can completely drop.

Reviews

Most of the reviews left by model owners on various thematic forums are written in a positive manner. Many note that they were attracted by the high quality of plastic, appearance and design. True, you have to paint over the inscriptions indicating that the model is pneumatic.

The design features of the pistol are rather surprising. But over time, they are noted as an undeniable advantage of the model. The presence of a bunker puts the MP-655K pistol in a more advantageous position over PM copies, which have only 13 bullets in the magazine.

The manufacturer claims that the volume of the cylinder is enough for 120 shots. Practice shows that you shouldn’t count on more than 70-80 effective shots, but even with such indicators, the weapon has earned popularity, since it lived up to all expectations and money spent.
