What myths surround the Glock pistol? The most incredible!

«I put a charge into my friend’s carcass...»
— Lermontov about the situation

My favorite...
Glock

(eng.
Glock
, aka
Glokh
,
Gluck
, aka
“1-1”
) - a pistol and a steamer, or rather, a whole family of pistols of the racial Austrian LLC “Glock” designed by the no less racial Austrian Gaston Glock.

What distinguishes itself from other pistol dominance is its intelligence and ingenuity, its polymer body, magazine capacity, a fairly good variety of form factors and calibers, the ambiguity of the solutions used in it, as well as incredible flood generation on specialized forums, to the point that the mere mention of this four-letter combination can generate a fierce, mad storm in a glass on absolutely level ground.

Memetic in that, being just a pistol with a polymer frame and a striker instead of a trigger mechanism, of which there are plenty from other manufacturers, Glock confidently breaks the record for the number of simply myths and outright nonsense from hamsters and shkolota who have never held a weapon in their hands. This article is no exception.

The cheapness of the Glock is one of the main reasons for its popularity, along with its weight and simplicity. Some characteristics were brought in favor of cheapness, such as the force and clarity of the trigger, the correct ejection of the cartridge case, sights, etc.

Despite, or perhaps thanks to, the above-mentioned compromises, it is one of the most common trunks in countries of declining capitalism. A favorite of cops, directors and gangsta niggas.

The above-mentioned Gaston Glock, who spent his entire life riveting every kind of household motlok, decided that it was time for him to make a goat for everyone and come out of the darkness. His first attempts at writing were the production of spare parts for the well-known MG-42 and MG-74 machine guns, the gluing of tanks, sapper strays, combat knives, and even with the help of a file, a piece of TNT and some kind of mother, he tried to rivet grenades. And everything would have been fine, when suddenly, by the highest order, the Austrian government sent him an order for a new pistol “... so that it would be steeper than the Himalayas and more powerful than this “Steyer”, which has been in service for a long time, but has already managed to fuck everyone up a little, and so that it will definitely mother-of-pearl buttons..."

As a result of two years of creative throwing and fooling around, a pistol with a rather unusual concept chambered for the mass-produced 9x19 cartridge, now known to us as Glock-17, IChSKH, was put on display for everyone to see - the pistol itself was finished quite quickly, in just three months.

The cunning Gaston understood that at that time all the basic concepts had already been discovered and taken into account before

    , and most importantly,
    without
it, it seems like it’s too early to do a lasgun and multi-melta, but I still firmly decided to surprise the people with at least something. And the idea didn’t take long to come up - what if some of the waste polymers were not wasted, but used for casting pistols? And not just use it for decoration, but create a subject that will be almost entirely from this stuff?

No sooner said than done: the creation of the gloomy Austrian genius below the shutter consists almost entirely of plastic. The bolt, barrel, axles, springs, etc. are made the old fashioned way from steel. The government, pretty fed up with such things, adopted the subject without even looking at the other representatives of the competition and without asking for a decent bucksheesh for it. Although, in truth, the first to come up with a polymer pistol were certain Heckler und Koch (VP70). The designers, shocked by the size of the fee given, valiantly drank it and, having hung over the rest of the money, began to push the idea with renewed vigor.

History of the creation of trauma

After World War II, Austrian police officers had a problem with weapons. Only Walther pistols of the PP and PPK series, produced in the pre-war years, were in service. To remedy the situation, the Austrian authorities in 1980 announced an engineering competition to create a pistol for the police.

The competition attracted the attention of many gun manufacturers. One of the participants was the small company Glock in those years, which opened in the city of Deutsch-Wagram in 1963. The owner of the company, Gaston Glock, gave the engineers a clear task: to design an easy-to-use, functional and reliable pistol.

The result of the engineers' work was the Glock-17 pistol, which differs from previous models in the predominance of impact-resistant plastic in the design. In 1982, having successfully passed tests, the pistol became part of the Austrian army weapons. 25 thousand weapons were immediately ordered from Glock. The modest brand was technically not ready for such large orders, so at first it used the help of other manufacturers.

When the first model became popular, the Glock company began to expand its model range and improve the technical characteristics of pistols. But the design of all produced models remained based on those successful technical parameters that were used to create the Glock-17.

The number “17” in the name of the pistol is the number of the folder of technical documents on the basis of which the traumatic model began to be produced.

In 2011, the Turkish manufacturer Target Technologies opened a line of traumatic weapons developed on the basis of the Austrian Glock. The model was called Zoraki 917. Since certification of weapons produced outside the country is unacceptable in Russia, in 2012 the Lyubertsy enterprise Okhota began production of the licensed Phantom-T traumatic pistol - this is actually the same Glock. based on the Glock-17, she created the 717T pistol.

    50 rounds...

    ...and 100.Dr. Freud approves

At the moment, there are many Glock models, namely, from the historically correct full-length 17th fool to the thin 42nd subcompact. The specially trained managers hired by the company knew their job well and understood perfectly well that the arms industry would not allow anyone to rest on their laurels (a sad experience of at least the same), they need to throw bread more often, but the main thing is THE SPECTACLE, and therefore they need to regularly please and surprise . The pig's delight from a light plastic bullet gun has long passed, statistics began to accumulate and it was time to do something to prevent bugs from popping up.

At first, of course, the people were fed with all sorts of features in the form of an armful of laser sights, rear sights and other whistles and tricks, but it was all not the same: the people behaved weakly, they demanded schnapps and the chief designer - for soap. Then the designers were given the idea of multi-barrel, and subsequently, multi-caliber subject! As a result, in terms of the variety of models in size and caliber, few (if anyone at all) can compare with the subject. "For every taste and color."

Specifically in terms of calibers - on the shelf at Glock GmbH for anonymous users, in addition to the standard 9x19[1] for NATO countries (models 17-19, 26, 34 and the new 43), there are also a few goodies: like the good old .45ACP[2] ( models 21, 30, 36, 41) and .45GAP[3] (models 37-39); no less beefy .40S&W[4] (models 22-24, 27 and 35) and 10mm Auto[5] (models 20[6] and 29). There is also a “little brother” of the 40 - .357SIG[7] (models 31-33) and .380ACP[8] (models 25, 28 and 42). In almost all calibers, the pistol is available in three sizes: full-size, compact and sub-compact. The most popular calibers also have an extended version, even compared to the full-size one. There are also particularly thin versions with single-row magazines.

After fiddling with the magazines, we adapted to making them of different capacities: now there are 19-, 17-, 15-, 13-, 8- and 6-round magazines.

    • Moreover, now for each model, in addition to the basic one, you can order magazines of other capacities; for example, the same 26th model with a basic capacity of 10 rounds can also be equipped with 12-, 15-, 17- and 19-round magazines. Due to this, Glocks have a big advantage: one magazine can fit several different pistols. Moreover, independent pistol manufacturers can not give a fuck, but take time-tested solutions for their developments.

Pulling this concept by the udder, the company milked another simply brilliant idea - what if you count not only on military policemen, but also on special services and security? After all, even the same 17-19 rounds of ammunition may not seem enough to them, and taking a submachine gun out of the gun and carrying a submachine gun is somewhat annoying/difficult/not supposed to/attracts the attention of others (underline as appropriate).

    • First they made 33-round magazines.
    • And for them they gave birth to another whistle - automatic fire mode. It seems that the idea was not new, but in combination with SUCH a capacity (larger than that of the Uzi), people get a very mild replacement for PP guns, but at the same time more affordable, smaller in size with not weak power and more show-off.
    • And then it turned out that the fire selector can be shoved into a civilian Glock in place of the rear cap, to the delight of those who have a license for automatic fire, but according to the report card are equipped with a non-automatic subject.

Taking a confident look at the market, it was decided to reach even more people, and at the same time enter the sports arena much more boldly. No sooner said than done, different form factors of barrels were cut down: from the weighty 18th “automatic” and the long sporty 24th with a 6-inch barrel, to the subcompact 33rd and flat as a pancake, the 36th.

Third-party companies, having watched enough Hollywood action films and deciding that 33 rounds in a magazine would not be enough, produced drum magazines with 50 and even 100 (sic!) rounds. The practical value of such a solution is questionable, but FPSRussia approves. Although this is rather a property of FPSRussia itself, in classical literature called “a good pig gets everything for the future.”

Collector and hobby versions of Glock

Several international companies have begun producing firearms based on existing Glock models.

    Traumatic Glock

Turkish and Russian companies have begun producing limited-kill firearms, which are a copy of the famous Austrian Glock 17.

The pistol has a square bolt housing, a plastic frame and an anatomical handle.

The trigger mechanism is different from the original, but the Glock trigger is retained.

To prevent a live cartridge from being fired from a traumatic pistol, the barrel has an oval shape, and in the middle its diameter is only 5 mm, with a rubber bullet diameter of 10 mm.

    Air Glock

An air pistol has also been developed based on the Glock 17 model, widely used among foreign players. Such weapons are used in thematic and mass airsoft games for recreational shooting indoors and outdoors.

    Glock 17 Pneumatic with blowback

Players use plastic balls as bullets; the pistol body is made of plastic; the bolt casing and barrel are made of metal alloys. The durable body and metal alloy make the model more realistic.

    Gas Glock

The gas-powered Glock 17 clone has low recoil due to the gas moving the bolt carrier at high speeds.

Glock 17 (G17 from WE) gas blowback. My airsoft love.

The magazine is filled with a gas cylinder containing CO2 and plastic balls weighing 0.2 grams. The pistol has a safety lever located at the bottom of the barrel.

    Mass-dimensional model of Glock (MMG)

The mass-dimensional model of the pistol is an exact copy of the original in size and weight. MMG of small arms provides the opportunity to learn how to use a pistol, release and cock the trigger, as well as assemble and disassemble a weapon.

    [edit] Guilt:

The advantages of the subject are the following:

    1. The invariance of Glocks by caliber, especially the presence in the system of models that eat such monsters as .45, .40 and 10mm, is in general a beast, not a pistol. This whole holiday of life is spoiled by the fact that modern 9x19 hollow-point bullets, according to the results of ballistic tests, are found to be comparable in their impact on a carcass with larger calibers. Therefore, the army, police and special forces of many countries have switched or are switching to 9x19. Similar to armor-piercing. So plus is somewhat outdated.
    2. The design is lightweight due to polymers [9] and easy to maintain. However, polymer frames are not unique to Glocks and many manufacturers have models with polymer frames (Springfield XD, Sig P320, HK USP, VP9, thousands of them).
    3. The barrel has a poly-, or rather hexagonal, rifling (to put it very simply - a regular nut is pulled through the barrel while rotating), which gives less wear, allowing you to fire up to the advertised 200K shots.
    4. Half-cocked striker instead of a hammer. More passive safety in exchange for a certain non-removable (by polishing or weakening the spring) heaviness of the trigger, because when firing, the striker is cocked by force on the SC. The striker moves in the direction of the barrel, which has led to the myth of accuracy versus hammer action, although grip and trigger pull are much more significant factors.
    5. According to some citizens, it has a tilt of the handle, which is more suitable for gripping. However, most of the evidence suggests that the unusual angle of the handle worsens shooting results at first. Models starting from the 4th generation have a replaceable set of panels (back strips) to adjust the handle to the shooter’s hand. IDPA-kun, however, claims that a stock Glock has about the same trigger pull as a stock Orthodox CZ-75 with the hammer cocked, but at the same time, in matches, “Glockers” regularly occupy the bottom half of the table.
    6. A large number of additions, although a significant part of them simply fixes the glock jambs out of the box (custom springs, sights, disconnectors, etc.).
    7. A polymer frame is cheaper and a striker trigger is somewhat easier to manufacture and, damn it, clean.
    8. You can shoot underwater. However, the effectiveness of such shooting is extremely low, and unofficially other army pistols such as the German Sig P226 and the Italian Beretta 92FS can cope with this.
    9. A passive safety system that allows you to fire only when you press the trigger, and in general... Safety: trigger; drummer; and USM shockproof fuse.
    10. It does not have the usual safety lock, or more specifically, a lever/button oriented on one side. This is far from a unique property for a modern pistol.
    11. Partially ambidextrous (suitable for both right-handers and left-handers). The magazine release button can be rearranged. But the slide stop release button cannot be moved, alas (on the fifth generation of pistols, the slide stop lever is now located on both sides of the frame).

Glock 17 in service with special services

In 1982, under the designation P-90, the pistol was adopted by the Austrian army and police. The Glock 17 was equipped with the anti-terrorist unit of the Austrian Federal Police EKO Cobra (Einsatzkommando Cobra).

Later, the Glock 17 pistol began to be used by the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and special forces of Sweden and Finland, and since 1986 it was adopted by the Norwegian army. Since the start of production of the first Glock model, there have already been three generations of these pistols, and the fourth generation is currently in production - Gen 4. The first generation did not have a notch on the front and rear surfaces of the handle, which appeared on the second, which began production in 1990. The third generation, in addition to notches and chaotic corrugation on the sides of the handle, also received recesses for fingers on the front surface of the handle and recesses with a lower protrusion for the thumb, both in the left and right surfaces of the handle, as well as guides in the front part of the frame for fastening of additional devices.

In the late 1990s, the Glock 17 replaced the Jericho 941 in YAMAM, a special unit of the Israeli police. After this, some special forces of the Israeli Defense Forces adopted it to replace the Sig Sauer P226 and Sig Sauer P228. Currently, Glock pistols are used in the armies and various security forces of about 60 countries. In 1986, Austrian pistols began to be imported to the United States. The first law enforcement agency to adopt Glock 17 pistols was the police department in Colby, Kansas, and the first large batch was delivered to the department in St. Paul, Minnesota. Noteworthy are the tests of Austrian pistols conducted by 25 police officers from Miami.

    Glock-17

The weapon was tested for safety when dropped onto steel and concrete from a height of 18 meters with a cartridge in the chamber. There was no shot. The weapon was kept in salt water and a fully loaded magazine was fired at a high rate. There was not a single delay. It fired 1,000 rounds of hollow-point bullets continuously over 45 minutes without any problems. After these tests, the Miami Police Department adopted Glock 17 pistols. Currently, various versions of Glock personal short-barreled weapons are in service with the US FBI (models 22, 23 and 27), New York police (with the New-York Trigger trigger, which has a greater trigger force), police departments in Florida, Miami, Boston, the state police of Kansas and South Carolina (the South Carolina police first adopted the Glock 22 pistol) and Mississippi, the Customs Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration, as well as various special forces, for example the US Navy Seals and Delta. About 5,000 US federal and local police departments have adopted it.

Glock pistols make up a little more than half of all handguns purchased by US law enforcement agencies. They are used by police all over the world, for example, the Glock is in service in Canada, Holland, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, India and the Philippines. The Glock 17 is used by the Hong Kong Police Force. Iraqi police also use Glock pistols along with other short-barreled weapons, such as those made by Beretta and Sig Sauer. In Germany, the Glock 17 is in service with the famous Special Forces Unit of the German Federal Police GSG9 (Grenzschutzgruppe 9 - Border Security Group 9) and SEK - the special forces of the German police (Saxony-Anhalt Spezialeinsatzkommando). In France, the Glock 17, along with the 19 and 26 models, is in service with the National Gendarmerie Intervention Group GIGN (Groupe d'Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale), the anti-terrorism special unit "Search, Assistance, Intervention, Dissuade" RAID and the Investigation Group of the French National Police GIPN .

In Belgium, the Glock is used by the assault unit of the National Gendarmerie - ESI (Esquadron d'Intervention Special) and the BBT special unit of the Antwerp Police Department. Glock pistols are used by the Polish Mobile Rapid Response Team GROM (Grupa Reagowania Operacyjno-Manewrowego). The Glock 17 is used in law enforcement agencies and departments of the Russian Federation, along with other Western models, such as the CZ 75 B, and Russian ones - SPS, PYA, GSh-18, firing 9x19 cartridges. For example, these pistols are adopted by the FSB, GRU, FSO, Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation and special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The success of the pistol is also contributed to no small extent by the manufacturer’s extensive advertising campaign. But not only. In comparative tests, Glock always passed tests for reliability, ease of use and safety, and shooting accuracy. Glock is famous for its good service. All defective parts are easily replaced with new ones, and instead of the old coating with a worn outer black layer, a new one is applied for a nominal fee. At the moment, the manufacturer has sold more than 2,000,000 pistols of various modifications.

    [edit] Fails:

You can also... crumple it up
    , yeah.

Oddly enough, they directly stem from the advantages, yeah:

    1. The polymer frame perfectly withstands standard loads when new. But over time, polymers tend to lose strength and become brittle. Especially when they are adjacent to hot powder gases. So far, no one is complaining about the massive destruction of pistols of the first releases... But that’s it for now. And abnormal loads, such as a cartridge explosion, easily break the frame in half.
    2. As mentioned above, although the barrel itself can withstand such a wild declared shot, the pistol’s fire rate as such is guaranteed by the company - 40-50 thousand shots. Not so little - our cops don’t shoot even 10% of this in their entire life (not their own, but a pistol - which is usually older than themselves), but they promised much, much more! And in sports, 40 thousand shots are achieved quite quickly - a year and a half or two, or even less. And how much plastic will last there, and how serious everything will be - I don’t know, who has everything alive even after 150 thousand. We look at the standard breakdowns, smile and wave. But even the slightest chip on the frame can be both simply aesthetically pleasing and ultimately hit you in the forehead with a shutter - it’s like a card.
    3. Plastic does not rust, but deep scratches on it are much more fatal (see previous paragraph) than on metal.
    4. Plastic, although it is made according to all sorts of ISOs, when molding a subject, can wander in quality, like a horse across an area.
    5. The bug described in the pedivikia - “...unlike external triggers, if there is a misfire like the trigger cannot be cocked and the trigger cannot be pulled again - we pull the shutter, we lose precious time” - the essence is bullshit. Because, if the cartridge fails again (the probability of this is no less than 80%), or if the misfire is not due to the under-puncture of the primer, you will still have to suck the pin, spend even more time and still pull the long-suffering shutter, so again by . But the fact that the springs are loaded all the time, and it’s impossible to remove them from the platoon, is no longer an ice-breaker. Not at all... Not at all. The solution is to throw the Glock the fuck away and buy a Walther P99 with a double-action trigger.
    6. Due to the design with a movable barrel, when the pistol is pressed hard against something, like in a movie - poked in the back with the barrel - the bolt may disengage and there will be no shot - hello again, dick. True, for those who want to scream “...and I told you!” Glock is crap! It is worth noting that this crap is typical of most systems with a moving barrel. An ass, of course, although the question is, why forcefully press the gun against the enemy? The essence of the problem. Take care of your faces.
    7. When shooting from models with a compensator from some stances/positions, a powder “exhaust” may “blow” from it into the face. Glasses won't offer much protection here either. This happiness is very doubtful - the cornea of the eyes and the muzzle of the face are caulked with burning particles of gunpowder, along with such good burns are guaranteed. Models with a compensator are not for ardent self-defenseists! Don’t give in to the urge to fire “close-to-the-hip” from such a pistol! And when the “jumper” on the compensator occasionally breaks, then the exhaust can BOMB upward quite mercilessly.
    8. Some irresponsible individuals persistently prove that “...ass, in the cold the plastic of Glock becomes fragile and breaks down into molecules!” It is worth immediately separating the flies from the cutlets - yes, without a doubt, cases of pistol destruction in the cold do occur. But this is not a failure, but a banal scam. If you go out into such severe frost from a warm and humid room, with a gun on your belt, which itself (and in which the cartridges) is copiously covered in grease, and even out-of-season, it will, damn it, first thicken and then freeze. And when we shoot, we will get shit on a shovel in full. But the same thing will happen with any weapon “maintained” in this way. And the more powerful the cartridge it uses, the sadder the result will be. Yes, plastic can “turn a blind eye” to the slight lameness of the lamer, “playing” due to plasticity and tolerances, but the Glock is still not rubber, but half plastic, and we must not forget about this.
    9. Originated the Glock-bite meme. Shooting from a self-loading pistol, you can injure the skin between your thumb and forefinger (in the case of some Desert Eagle, you can even eat a piece of meat), but the wound is still called Glock-bite. By googling images with this meme, you will get an easy gourt.
    10. The same security system. Due to the absence of a manual safety (as on, for example) and the presence of a playful index finger, it is very easy to accidentally shoot yourself in the leg or something else (Proof) when putting the subject into a holster.
    11. A consequence of the lightness of the pistol is a strong, unpleasant recoil; you get tired of shooting from this pistol faster than from metal counterparts such as Sig P226, Beretta 92 FS, CZ 75, etc.
    12. The same lightness of the lower part of the pistol leads to the fact that the pistol cannot reload on its own: it moves back all at once, and not just the bolt with the barrel. When the pistol is held firmly in the hand, the mass of the hand allows it to operate steadily (even very) stable. But if you hold it weakly, then problems are possible, especially on the new 4th generation, where there is a reinforced return spring. Let's say, when you press the trigger, the shot will not fire, and in accordance with the previous points, you will have to remove the magazine, jerk the bolt, insert a cartridge into the magazine, insert the magazine itself and jerk the bolt again. Because of this, for some, even a magazine of 10 rounds will seem endless.
    13. The trigger stroke and hook force are far from ideal even on sports models, where they tried to make it better. After all, with each shot, the shooter not only releases the firing pin, but pre-cocks it. And the additional safety right on the trigger can get in the way in some situations (although it is often invisible).
    14. Glock, although one of the lightest pistols in the world, is inferior in accuracy to other wunderwaffles due to the trigger, although the trigger force is 2.5 kg, it is tight. For example, the Beretta 92 with the hammer cocked - a smooth trigger + 2 kg of aluminum dampens the recoil, but there is a solution to the problem. This can be solved using a descent control kit, although the descent will not be 100% smooth.
    15. Along with Glocks, there are currently other winrar strikers. For example: S&W M&P, Walther PPQ, Sig Sauer P320, H&K VP9, FN FNS9. In some places, these models in the UWB are sold cheaper than the subject, and in some places they outperform Glock itself. One way or another, they are creating “Glock Killers” who want to push this product out of the market. Some firearms enthusiasts note the good trigger and comfortable ergonomic grip of the Smith Wesson M&P; it is worth adding the quality of workmanship of the product from Walter.
    16. IRL, in order to shoot a Glock underwater, you need to replace the firing pin and mainspring, according to the decaying Pedivicia. At the same time, the same feint can be done from Makarov without any replacement of parts. Although it is not entirely correct to compare pistols with a blowback (Makarov) and with a short barrel stroke (Glock).

    Customization of Glock 17 pistols

Today on the gun market there is a huge number of parts for “customization”, various additional devices and accessories from enlarged safety levers or slide stops to adjustable sights and even steel frames, produced by both large and well-known and small private firms. The most popular parts for Glock pistols are oversized magazine latches, variable recoil springs, steel front sights and adjustable rear sights with tritium inserts. Practice has shown that replacing a standard magazine latch with an enlarged one for faster replacement can lead to its spontaneous falling out in the holster and when removing the weapon. It is advisable to replace the return spring only if firing will be carried out with the same, usually reinforced, cartridges, since when using less powerful ammunition there will be delays in firing due to insufficient opening of the shutter-casing.

The best solution to improve and increase the effectiveness of a pistol would be to replace the standard front and rear sights with sights such as TFO (Tritium Fiber Optic) from Truglo, equipped with green light-collecting fiber optic inserts containing tritium. Green is distinguished better than red and white in good lighting. Plastic with optical fiber properties directs most of the light flow along the axis of the cylinder of the inserts, as a result of which the shooter’s attention is instantly concentrated on them and aiming is much faster. In this case, in twilight or a dark room, aiming is carried out using brightly glowing tritium. These sighting devices, for obvious reasons, are of course more expensive than conventional ones, but they work perfectly both day and night, significantly increasing the speed of aiming.

The Glock lineup includes a series of pistols with integrated compensators. These pistols are designated by the letter C (Compensated) in addition to the index of the original model - Glock 17C. Such models are intended mainly for practical shooting competitions, as well as for novice shooters. The main function of the compensator is to reduce the toss of the weapon when fired. The jet stream of powder gases, directed upward, counteracts the tossing of the pistol. As a result, the rate of fire and accuracy of rapid fire increases. The downside is the strong flash. In low light, the image of this flash is briefly stored in memory, making it difficult to fire the next shot quickly and accurately. Such a pistol gets dirty faster, and when firing from the hip, the flow of powder gases unpleasantly hits the shooter's face. Delays also occur if weak cartridges are used.

The frame, made of polymer, makes the weapon lightweight and at the same time highly durable. Early production pistols had handles with flat side surfaces and grooved front and rear surfaces. The high-angle handle is very comfortable to hold and has finger tabs on the front surface, thumb rests on both sides, and is also equipped with front and rear serrations. This grip makes the weapon well controllable and ensures accuracy, both during careful aiming and during high-speed shooting. When firing a doublet, all full-size and compact models are characterized by high accuracy and strictly vertical placement of hits. Glock pistol grips do not “cool” the hand at low temperatures. On the front of the frame there are grooves for attaching tactical flashlights and laser designators. The shutter-casing is produced by high-precision casting. A special treatment of steel parts called Tenifer, which is carbonitriding, increases their surface strength to 64 Rockwell units, and also greatly increases corrosion resistance.

The impact trigger trigger was chosen by the designers not only because of its ease of production. It allows you to reduce the distance from the butt plate of the frame to the axis of the barrel to a minimum. In turn, the recoil shoulder and, accordingly, the toss of the weapon when firing are reduced. This design also does not require reinforcement of the frame with steel inserts, which increase weight. The Glock 17 was the first pistol to use a rectangular coil recoil spring. In modern models, this spring is fixed on its own guide, which simplifies and facilitates the disassembly and assembly of the weapon. The magazine has a plastic body - the result of the lack of production equipment for making magazines from sheet steel at the time the pistol was launched. The steel magazine was no longer produced due to deunification.

Like any weapon, Glock pistols have their drawbacks. Often the cause of misfires is contamination of the firing pin channel, usually due to sand trapped there. With a weak grip, sometimes there are cases of the cartridge not being fired. The plastic front sights turned out to be not durable and are knocked off the bolt-casing when hit from behind, but this drawback can be easily eliminated by replacing the sighting devices with steel ones. Another disadvantage is the small dimensions of the bolt stop and magazine latch, but this is again eliminated by replacing them with larger ones.

Pistols 17C and other versions with integrated compensators, when using insufficiently powerful cartridges or loaded with light bullets, often do not extract spent cartridges and do not chamber cartridges due to the fact that part of the energy necessary for stable operation of the automation is consumed by the compensator. There were problems with guides that broke due to side impacts, which arose due to manufacturing errors, but were quickly eliminated. Glock pistols are easy to shoot, but require quite a bit of practice to shoot very accurately.

Part failures and frame destruction are caused by overly powerful cartridges, usually loaded manually, but this is no longer a direct drawback of the design itself. Disadvantages can also indirectly include the looseness of parts relative to each other, for example, the bolt on the frame and the magazine in the neck of the handle.

An interesting feature of Glock pistols is the ability to fire underwater. In this case, not only there is no rupture, but also no swelling of the barrel. However, for stable firing of the primer, a special firing pin with transverse grooves or a set of Spring cups amfibia is required - a firing pin mainspring with a plastic tray with holes. Available only for pistols chambered for 9mm Parabellum. But for shooting underwater without the risk of barrel inflation, it is recommended to use cartridges with FMJ-type full-jacket bullets. Glock pistols can be fired underwater at a depth of up to three meters. The bullet retains more energy at a distance of up to two meters when fired at a depth of one meter. Shooting at close range from under water is also effective, without the sound of a shot. This method of shooting is taught in many special forces.

    [edit] Glock and...

    [edit] Army and special forces

How about it! A lightweight second barrel, convenient for clearing hard-to-reach spaces where you can’t really wave a machine gun, adaptable to every army “and I also want to...”, and most importantly - cheap to purchase. And here, by the way, everyone can put up with the low survivability of plastic - the army doesn’t shoot much from short-barreled guns, you don’t always need a pestle; All sorts of special structures also do not deprive him of attention: if it suits the task, why not?

[edit] In the context of government procurement

    ◄ ►

A typical official with a crystal clear reputation.

    What a fine fellow!

In all countries that purchase Glock pistols, these weapons are used to arm security forces. In Russia - also for theft. One day, a famous homeless man from Maryino drew the attention of his hamsters to an extremely interesting tender in government procurement. It proposed to buy about 400 Glock pistols for the needs of the army and navy for 70,000,000 rubles. 400 pistoles for 600 Baku in the gunsmith, for 2 lamas, when only 240 pieces are collected? In other words, the state was looking for an accomplice who would help use 50 million rubles from the budget. This fact gave rise to a bunch of online discussions on the topic: “How much do they steal from the purchase of jeeps and submarines?” Rogozin, who first stated that he had given instructions to check the validity of prices in government procurement, was annealed, and five hours later began to claim that he ordered this to be done a week ago. Later, this swindler and thief erased the original post so that no one would doubt his honesty. Further, complaining that “hamsters flock like pigeons and begin to shit,” the Deputy Prime Minister, in his swaggering manner, advised Navalny to “deal with his boards.” In January 2016, citizen Rogozin shot himself in the leg at a shooting range with a pistol, bashfully described as a “foreign-made pistol.” Maybe there were sanctions in the leg, and the gun was a Glock. Perhaps even in the same way, tender. Import substitution, lol.

    - What about Glock pistols? - the attentive reader will ask. Thanks to the efforts of the broad masses, the order was canceled, but on the Internet these trunks will be associated with gold ones for a long time.

[edit] Security and bodyguards. Policius vulgaris

The subject is respected by personal guards and Western representatives of the “Adeptus Arbites” caste - it is easier to constantly carry it with you than something more cumbersome with a metal pistol. The inaccessibility of submachine guns and machine guns to most of them also affects... And besides, a couple of drunken bandits here are not like a nimble and well-organized ethnic/narco-organized criminal group of Negritos/Latinos with good guns in the same Pindostan - they need a more powerful barrel and more cartridge-intensive than .

Whistle guns are rarely used; as a rule, these are multi-capacity magazines and laser target designators.

[edit] This, what's his name... people!

    Moose vs Glock.
In most developed countries, citizens can buy pistols one way or another. Somewhere - only for sport and/or hunting, in other countries - and for self-defense.

Being an inexpensive, reliable and convenient weapon, and also powerfully promoted, all kinds of Glock pistol models are in great demand in the civilian market.

By the way, you can potentially buy a Glock even in Russia: fourth-generation models 17, 19, 22, 34 and 35 are certified as sports short-barreled weapons, which means that being a master of sports in bullet shooting, you can legally buy them for yourself. The truth will have to be stored strictly in the safe of the shooting club...

    [edit] Schoolchildren

Any ninja boy or killer girl knows: Glock is so light and plastic that until the beginning of the 2000s, not a single metal detector frame would touch it (except for the very paranoid ones that require you to take out the keys). So you could carry it right in your briefcase or pocket to some regular meeting of mafia leaders and arrange a massacre there, and then leave through the window. See Noir, Kite and other wonderful cartoons from the life of killer girls[10]. (spoiler:

True, in the real world it contains almost half a kilo of steel, more than in some ultra-compact all-metal models, so even the most ancient metal detectors respond well to it.

    [edit] In culture

    [edit] At the movies

As for foreign films, it is much easier to list those where the subject is not

applied. With its help they even tried to chase agents in virtual worlds with pissing rags, and they also used it to buy the T-800 and scare the T-X. It also appears in our films, although here the palm goes entirely to the domestic manufacturer.

He also appeared in the anime - Misato walks around with a Glock, that’s it. (generally with USP, but no one gives a fuck)

    [edit] In games

    The fonnat are crying.
Here the subject is not as popular as the same Desert Eagle. Offhand you can name, for example, Counter-Strike, where the terrorist by default appeared with that same Glock with good ammunition and the ability to cut off “thirty-three” (a burst of 3 rounds) at the first enemy carcass he liked. In general, it has accompanied the Half-Life series from the very beginning. I also remember IGI-2: the Glock-17 there was quite good for taking out everyone and everything quietly; the same barrel is also available in Resident Evil: Code Veronica, although it must first be upgraded. One of the oldest is Duke, but God knows HOW they painted him there...

    Tagged approval!

Glokomania did not spare “Stalker” either - in one of the variations of the “Narodnaya Solyanka” fashion, a good Glock-35 barrel appeared. Also in STCoP Weapon Pack, GUNSLINGER mod and other weapon mods for stalkac

There is a game called Kerbal Space Program. In the track "Arcadia" from the game's soundtrack on Wikipedia, the Glock pistol is listed as a musical instrument with the corresponding link to the article. Most likely, the musical instrument was a Glockenspiel, but what the author of the article was smoking remains a mystery.

Also, in The Walking Dead, the Glock represents 60% of all weapons in the game (the remaining 30% is the Remington 70 rifle, and 10% is the Browning Safari Rifle). You can admire the Glock in all its glory from all angles in the cutscenes that make up the game, and even shoot with it a couple of times. (spoiler:

It is from this that the GG will be killed.
    Optional )
On consoles it flashed (under the name G-18) in the winrar TPS Siphon Filter. And it was automatic, like an Uzi, yeah.

    [edit] In airsoft

A copy of the subject, namely the electric version of the 18C, has gained a good reputation among airsoft players as an additional weapon: it is inexpensive, the magazine is capacious, there is no fuss with gas cartridges, and the fire mode is fully automatic. Such models have almost no power compared to full-fledged airsoft weapons (usually 0.2-0.5 J for electric ones, and 0.8-1 for gas ones), however, the subject is usually used either in close combat, or by snipers, who are required to have a low-power fart in the presence of a powerful sniper.

    Disassembling the Glock

All variations of the Glock model are analyzed using the same algorithm. Before starting work, it is recommended to wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from accidentally jumping springs and splashing lubricant.

Usually the gun is disassembled to thoroughly clean it. Here are the step-by-step instructions:

    • Point the weapon where there are no people or animals. Keep your fingers away from the trigger and safety.
    • Get the store.
    • Move the bolt carrier back and lock it in the open position with the bolt lever.
    • Look into the chamber and make sure there are no cartridges inside.
    • Remove the bolt carrier. Pull it towards you to release the flag. Press the trigger to release the firing pin.

    • Hold the pistol grip with your thumb and the top of the frame with the remaining fingers of one hand. Move the bolt carrier back 3mm.
    • Pull down the bolt release. With your other hand, push the shutter flag down. Pull the frame forward with the 4 fingers you are holding it with so that it comes off the receiver.
    • Remove the spring by pulling it forward slightly.
    • Pull the barrel out of the frame.
    • Clean the gun.
    • Assemble the weapon using the same method, only in a different sequence.

    [edit] Glokosrach

The most famous glocotroll feeder is Hansa. Wards No. 4 and No. 81 are places where short-barreled passions boil: a shkolota, who has only seen a short-barreled gun on the Internet, Stalker or Contra, fights with the lucky owners in epic life-and-death fights, and the trolls of the primary school dance in circles. go, shock-assault 2nd and terminal 3rd levels.

This short stem is still a confident leader among its peers in terms of the level of fludogenic inadequacy. Most often, the subject is compared: with PM (especially 26 and 28, which have approximately similar dimensions, and the second one has a cartridge), 17th and 19th - with Beretta-92/Chezetki, 18th - also with APS. If you want fresh sensations, publicly compare it with another fruit of plastic nanotechnology, FN “Pussy Bronika” Five-seveN. Almost any party of armchair specialists will reliably detonate.

    Specifications

The Austrian traumatic pistol is deservedly considered one of the most successful.

In our country, at first this weapon was used only by special forces soldiers, but after a while it became a means of civilian self-defense. The Glock-17 is almost no different from a similar combat model; it has a steel frame with a plastic coating, an anatomically shaped handle, and a square bolt. The main technical characteristics are given below.

    [edit] Notes

    1. 9x19 Par (or simply 9x19 Parabellum) is, in fact, the legendary Parabellum cartridge. It needs no introduction - 95% of pistols and submachine guns from NATO countries are designed for it, our dear one. The range of types of cartridges is simply mind-boggling: E0 = 435-756J. For those living in a tank, even the same type of cartridge has a bunch of bullets of different weights and structures, different weights of different gunpowders. At the same time, especially powerful cartridges are marked +P+, but there are also low-power “quiet” ammunition. That is why the muzzle energy varies over such a wide range.
    2. .45 Automatic Colt Pistol - 11.43x23 mm, good old Colt pistol. Prohibition, gangsters, Tommy guns, the no less famous Colt 1911 and .45 are the mascots of an entire era in the USA. E0= 484-721 J.
    3. .45 Glock Automatic Pistol - 11.43×19 mm, or, for the record - .45 light (only in terms of dimensions, in terms of its combat characteristics - the cartridge is not even holstered at all). It is obtained from .45 ACP by applying a file to the latter, straight hands and the necessary powder, all to reduce the handle. Along the way, they circumvented the ban on the use of military ammunition by civilian hamsters. E0= 543-736 J.
    4. .40 Smith & Wesson - 10x22 mm, a good hunting and sporting cartridge. The return is quite moderate, unlike the next patient. E0= 553-654 J.
    5. 10mm Auto - 10x25 mm. A stupefyingly powerful cartridge with lethal recoil. We love small game hunters, “heavyweight” athletes in a stage close to the terminal stage (for hitting a target with a heavy, powerful cartridge, they give more points per circle, and wow, what a big deal! Although you still have to hit it (this is not for you to make fun of from the PMM) , which is not so simple...), all sorts of special forces, as well as lovers of hand-held minihowitzers who have not yet grown up to .50AE and .454 Casull. E0 = 710-1020 J.
    6. Adored by Italians and UWB hunters.
    7. 9x22 mm, created on the basis of .40S&W by re-compressing its barrel for a 9 mm bullet. The result was a good, suitable and powerful armor-piercing “drill”, and also a good stopper. E0 = 663-778 J.
    8. 9x17 mm, the well-known Browning 9, as is. The characteristics are close to the Makarov 9x18.
    9. 18th - 620 g, 20th - 790 g, 28th - 530 g, empty.
    10. Noir had a Beretta M1934 and a Walther P99
