Light machine gun model 1927 DP (“Degtyarev, infantry”)
The infantry signal machine gun was made by cooling the Degtyarev combat machine gun, model 27. The DP-27-SKH fires blank cartridges of 7.62*54R caliber in automatic mode.
The machine gun was put into service at the end of 1927 and withdrawn from combat service at the end of the Second World War. This was the first machine gun developed by the USSR, widely used in the army.
The magazine holds up to 49 rounds and has a round shape.
The Degtyarev machine gun is produced through several upgrades:
1. The barrel of the DP 27 CX from Molot Arms has pins installed; they do not allow the use of live ammunition, but fire and smoke escape through the barrel.
2. The design of the bolt has been changed; a pin has been installed in it to prevent the use of the bolt in the Degtyarev combat machine gun.
3. It is not possible to remove the barrel, because the button intended for dismantling the barrel is connected by a permanent connection to the receiver.
As previously mentioned, the Degtyarev infantry machine gun (DP-27-SKh) can fire in both automatic and single mode.
The butt of the infantry machine gun is made of natural wood and coated with an anti-corrosion compound to prevent damage and increase the service life of the product.
On the front of the DP-27-SKh barrel there is a bipod; they are designed to facilitate aimed shooting from a prone position (or from a standing position from behind cover or a trench).
The machine gun weighs almost 10 kg (9.8 kg to be exact), with a total length of 1280 mm, such characteristics made the combat model reliable and accurate at distances of up to 500 m.
