Features of the pistol
In appearance, the Ataman resembles the legendary Italian Beretta 92. It is a unique product in the world of pneumatics. The thing is that the gun combines PCP and CO2 types. Above the working barrel there is a sealed tank with a volume of 60 cm3, which is filled with any harmless gas. This can be done using a fire extinguisher, compressor or pump. But it’s much easier to just insert two regular 12-gram CO2 cylinders into the tank. There will be enough of them to fire the entire charge of bullets. You can refill one full cylinder and one empty.
Another important feature is that the cylinder charging system does not have gaskets, which means you do not need to worry about air being released due to its wear. The system is completely sealed, so you can safely charge the gun in advance. This is really great, because, as you know, most of these weapons are loaded immediately before firing. According to the data, it can hold air pressure and be charged for up to six months.

Characteristics of the pistol "Ataman"
The pistol is made of durable black plastic (body) and steel (internal parts). When fully charged, the device weighs only 0.56 kg. And if you remove the cans and bullets from it, the weight will be 0.48 kg. The long, smooth barrel (17.8 cm) provides fairly good shooting accuracy. The bolt (which is fixed in the model) has a standard front and rear sight. The weaver rail, installed under the barrel, allows you to equip the pistol with a laser pointer or flashlight.
The magazine has a cylindrical shape and is located in the handle. It consists of 8 longitudinal compartments, each of which holds 15 bullets. A total of 120 4.5 gauge steel balls are loaded. Two gas cylinders are more than enough to fire the entire magazine.
If you fill the gun directly with compressed air, the charge will last for about 35 shots. It occurs after the barrel rolls onto a special valve. The moving barrel system allows the bullet to develop a very good speed at takeoff - 125-130 m/s according to the manufacturer, and 133-147 m/s in practice. Muzzle energy is about 3 J.
The trigger mechanism only works in self-cocking mode. The descent is very easy and smooth. The pistol does not have an automatic safety.
Main characteristics
The body of the pistol is made of durable black plastic, and all internal parts are metal. Without cans, the device weighs only 0.48 kg, and when fully equipped it weighs 0.56 kg. Thanks to the long, smooth barrel (17.8 cm), good shooting accuracy is achieved. There is an open rear sight and front sight. The Weaver rail allows you to install a laser target or a flashlight under the barrel.
The cylindrical detachable magazine has 8 compartments holding 15 bullets each. Total - 120 copper-plated steel balls of the appropriate caliber. The shot is fired after the barrel rolls onto the valve. This moving barrel system gives the charge good speed. The manufacturer claims 125-130 meters per second, but in practice it is higher (130-147 meters per second). Two cans are enough for 120 shots, and refilling with compressed air is enough for 35 shots. Muzzle energy is within acceptable limits - up to 3 joules.
Video review of the Ataman-M1 air pistol:
The trigger, which operates only in self-cocking mode, is distinguished by a light and soft trigger that works evenly. The fuse is non-automatic. The Ataman-M1 pistol can be purchased both on the manufacturer’s website and in one of the online stores. It costs from 3150 rubles.
Equipment of the pistol "Ataman"
The pistol is sold in a cardboard box with camouflage colors, which also includes:
- Product passport.
- Double-sided nut designed for piercing cylinders.
- Sealing ring. Slides onto the cap of the cylinder/gas tank. It lasts a very long time because it does not receive pressure.
- A device called “Hunter Signal”. A kind of bonus and a very useful thing.
At the moment, the Ataman M1 air pistol is available in two modifications, which differ in price by about 500 rubles. The cheaper option only works on gas cans. It does not have refill fittings. The PCP "Ataman" pistol also includes a fitting and a filling valve. It can be recognized by the inscription on the box “Ataman - M1U”.
Characteristics of the pistol Ataman M1-U RSR / CO2
Ataman M1 U is an air pistol from the Russian company A+A, or rather its updated version.
The barrel and magazine are made of dense black metal, and the body, in turn, is made of high-quality plastic to make the weapon lighter.
This model supports CO2 gas cylinders and the ability to fire thanks to the high pressure receiver. The kit includes a fitting through which air for PCP is pumped.
The initial flight speed of a projectile launched from an Ataman M1-U pistol reaches 125 m/s .
The safety is located just above the trigger and switches to fire or lock mode.
Shooting in this device is possible only in single mode.
The pistol's short length of 230 mm allows you to conveniently carry the weapon with you in a holster or bag.
This model uses 4.5 mm lead bullets . And the magazine, in turn, holds 120 rounds, which is very rare for devices of this type.
The magazine is made in the form of a drum of 8 small magazines for 15 bullets. After you run out of cartridges in one magazine, you need to rotate the drum yourself to the next magazine and in this case it will be charged again.
A 12 gram CO2 gas cylinder is capable of firing 80-100 shots. A charged receiver fires up to 50 shots.
For aiming and accurate hitting of the weapon, there is a front sight and rear sight.
The smooth movement of the trigger makes it easier to fire a shot and accurately fly the bullet to the target.
Scheme of operation of the Ataman pistol
The gun is simple and easy to use. Now we will make sure of this. Before you start shooting, you need to raise the safety. When you press the trigger, the sear presses on the weighting material and the spring is compressed. It moves the barrel, as a result of which it captures the ball located in the receiving sleeve, cutting it off from the rest of the charge.
And only when the barrel is put on the rod tube, the valve opens. Thus, gas leakage is absolutely excluded. The barrel is removed from the sear. The spring hits the valve, which releases a portion of gas, which accelerates the metal ball.
Loading the gun
To charge the Ataman with gas cylinders, you need to unscrew the plug located above the working muzzle and send the cylinders into the hole. In this case, the first cylinder is placed with the solder side up. After that, the puncture nut and the second cylinder are lowered into the hole, respectively, with the soldering side down.
It is noteworthy that after completely tightening the cap, the cylinders are not punctured. This is another significant advantage of the Ataman pistol. To pierce the cylinders, you need to rest the barrel against a hard surface and apply pressure. A small button installed on the gas hole plug, drown, and everything will happen. In this case, you will not hear any sound.
Disassembling the Ataman pistol
The pistol is disassembled in a slightly unusual way, since it does not have a moving bolt. First you need to raise the fuse. To disconnect the air block from the frame, you need to knock out the pin and apply a little force. Everything else is simple. First we unscrew the barrel. To make it easier, clamp the weight in a vice. After unscrewing the barrel, it, along with the spring and other parts, literally falls out. The main thing at this stage is not to lose anything.
Now, using pliers, you need to pull out the metal plate that goes towards the handle. You must act perpendicular to the axis of the pneumatic block. If the valve does not give in, you should slightly pull the plastic sleeve towards the muzzle (it accepts the balls). There is no need to unscrew the self-tapping screw located at the back of the pneumatic unit. All that remains is to disassemble the valve. It's not difficult at all.
Assembly, as expected, is done in reverse order. After performing the procedure several times, you will notice that disassembling the gun has become easier. The point is not only that you have gained experience, but also that the parts have gotten used to it.
As you can see, the assembly is not complicated, but very problematic. Therefore, you should not carry it out unnecessarily. When assembling the gun, or rather the valve, pay special attention to laying the rubber seal that seals the front part of the valve. It is located in front of the plastic sleeve.
Disassembling and assembling the pistol
Raise the fuse. To remove the air block from the pistol frame, you need to knock out the pin and apply a little force (this is perhaps the most difficult moment). Next, we disassemble this block, for which we unscrew the barrel, holding the weighting agent in a vice. The spring and other parts along with the barrel will simply fall out. The main thing here is not to lose anything.
We use pliers to pull out the metal plate directed towards the handle. In this case, we act perpendicular to the axis of the pneumatic block. If the valve cannot be removed, then you need to pull the plastic sleeve towards the muzzle (it receives the balls). We do not unscrew the self-tapping screw at the back of the pneumatic block. Then we disassemble the valve - there should be no difficulties with this. Assembly is in reverse order. After several disassemblies, the parts are ground in, and this will become quite simple.
The video shows the disassembly and modification of the Ataman-M1 pistol:
Important: when assembling the valve, pay special attention to the placement of the rubber seal that seals the front part of the valve. It is located in front of the plastic sleeve.
Application
This model is used for training and sports shooting. It is often preferred by fans of hardball (a game in which one team fights against another) and plinking (entertaining shooting at bottles and cans).
This pistol is not suitable for self-defense due to its low weight and weak shot. However, it is still possible to stop a person with its help. And the fact that the pistol can be stored loaded and does not bleed air (like most air guns) makes it more suitable for self-defense purposes.
Repair and tuning
When the Ataman air pistol fires several thousand shots, the accuracy of fire may decrease. The reason is that the plastic degrades over time, causing the gap between the barrel and the body to become too large.
The fix is simple. First you need to buy a cheap RG6 cable. It comes with a crimping cylinder. This detail will be useful to us. You need to cut the cylinder with scissors, spread it to the width of the trunk and put it on it with the cut facing up. It is also recommended to pre-sharpen the cylinder from the inside so that the firing speed does not decrease. This simple manipulation allows you to increase not only accuracy, but also the service life of the pistol.
To increase power, some owners install stiffer springs and also bore the valve and chamber. And also, those who have a model that works exclusively on cylinders have figured out how to adapt the gun to pumping with other gases. To do this, you just need to drill a hole in the center of the plug and insert a valve from a car wheel into it.
Tips for repairs and upgrades
After firing several thousand shots or more, accuracy may decrease. This defect occurs because the plastic wears out and the gap between the gun body and the barrel becomes too large. The “fix” is simple: you need to take a fifteen-ruble plug for the RG6 cable. It comes with a crimping cylinder.
We cut this cylinder with scissors, spread it a little larger than the trunk and straighten the edges bent inward. Using a round file, lightly grind the inside of the cylinder (so that the speed of the shot does not drop). Then we put our product on the barrel with the cut up. After this, not only accuracy increases, but also the service life of the pistol.
As for the upgrade: to increase power, owners install stiffer springs, bore the valve and expansion chamber. And one more thing: the owners of those models that are not equipped with fittings have come up with a way to do without them. To do this, you need to drill a hole in the center of the plug into which the valve from the car wheel is inserted.
Pistol "Ataman": reviews
Based on reviews, we will highlight the advantages and disadvantages of the model.
So, the advantages:
- Accuracy and ease of shooting.
- Self-cocking and soft descent.
- Impressive magazine capacity.
- Possibility of refueling in various ways.
- A seal that holds pressure in the gas chamber for a long time.
Well, and the disadvantages, where would we be without them:
- The cans must be pierced with a sharp movement. Otherwise, one of them may remain intact. Therefore, it is better to puncture on a hard surface.
- The design does not allow the use of refillable cans.
- When filling balls into the magazine compartments, the slider must be constantly held. There is no lock, and if you lower the slider, the balls will fly apart.
- The gun is picky about balls. If you load low-quality or already used balls, the mechanism may jam.
