Our guest today will be the SU-122-54. This is a tank destroyer, which was at the 9th level of the alternative upgradeable branch of “self-propelled guns” of the USSR. Why was there? Currently, this PT has been taken out of the game.
There were enough problems with this vehicle, so the developers declared the tank unplayable. By the way, the entire TOP branch was rebalanced. Despite its shortcomings, the SU-122-54 had many fans, so this tank destroyer should not be forgotten. Perhaps the developers will decide to return the tank to the game, albeit in a heavily redesigned form.
Research tree
Installing a top gun will solve all our problems with armored vehicles and allow us to deal damage to almost everything. A good rate of fire will allow you to gain high levels of damage and, accordingly, experience. A small “alpha” compared to other level 9 PTs may, in some situations, be insufficient, but in general, it’s livable.
The top-end engine will add 80 horsepower to us compared to the stock one. His settings will improve our dynamics a little.
Installing a new chassis will add 2 degrees per second to the turning speed, as well as the maximum permissible weight, which will make it possible to install all modules and equipment.
Even a stock radio is quite suitable for playing at this level. The top one has a communication range of 730 m, but is studied at the end.
Brief summary of the SU-122-54 tank
Let's summarize all of the above. Overall, the PT looks good, but the vehicle is clearly not intended to participate in high-level battles.
To begin with, I got acquainted with the strengths of this machine. These include the following points:
- Speed and dynamics - allow you to quickly occupy key points;
- Camouflage – by staying on the 3rd line you can dismantle opponents with impunity;
- Alpha – helps to earn silver so that the tank does not go into the red at the end of the battle;
- Armor penetration – allows you to comfortably deal damage to almost any tank;
- Accuracy – organically complements the positive characteristics of weapons;
- Overview - gives the right to the first shot.
Disadvantages include :
- Weak armor - if the PT lights up, the amount of XP begins to disappear with alarming speed;
- The gun depression angles - 4 degrees are catastrophically low for this class of equipment;
- The narrow horizontal guidance angles – 8 degrees – force the vehicle to move frequently, losing camouflage.
In general, the machine has few shortcomings, but for most players, gameplay on this machine turned into real hell.
Optional equipment
Taking into account the excellent dynamics of the SU-122-54, it can be assumed that this unit is capable of performing the role of a support tank for pushing areas. But at the same time, we should not forget that there is no point in getting into trouble with our reservation either. Therefore, in addition to the clear and logical “drives” and “rammer”, there are options for installing ventilation or a stereo tube. But here the choice depends on your preferences. Prices are listed below:
- “Reinforced aiming drives” - 500,000 silver
- “Large caliber gun rammer” - 600,000 silver
- “Stereotube” – 500,000 silver
- “Improved ventilation Class 2” - 150,000 silver
Advantages and disadvantages
As you can see, we have a really good car in our hands, it has a lot of advantages, other parameters, if not very good, are quite passable, but there are also weaknesses that everyone should know about, so now we will analyze these nuances separately. Pros: • High damage per minute; • Not a bad alpha strike; • Decent armor penetration; • Excellent mobility; • Very good stealth; • Decent review. Cons: • Weak armor; • Poor vertical and horizontal aiming angles; • Not very good accuracy.

The list of skills and perks remained similar to the list for the predecessor SU-122-54. As you can see, we have been joined by an additional loader, for whom, in addition to the standard camouflage and AP, we are studying the ammunition rack. For those who prefer the “medium tank” style, an alternative is possible in the form of in-place repair of the third skill. The choice is yours

History of the SU-122-54
In 1947, production of the SU-100 self-propelled artillery mounts was discontinued. On June 22, 1948, by a resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, the design bureau of Omsk Plant No. 174 was entrusted with the development of a self-propelled gun project with a 122-mm D-25 cannon based on the T-54 medium tank. The work manager was I.S. Bushnev. According to the schedule, the vehicle design was supposed to be ready in July 1948, however, the self-propelled gun project and its full-size model were submitted for consideration to the Ministry of Transport Engineering only in December. The delay arose due to the late receipt of cannon drawings from Factory No. 9. In July 1949, after the comments were eliminated, the project with the layout was re-sent to a special commission for consideration. In August 1949, the project was approved, after which the design bureau of Plant No. 175 began producing documentation for the self-propelled guns for the production of a prototype, but work was suspended due to changes in the design of the T-54 tank. At the direction of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, work on the SU-122-54 was transferred to plant No. 183 in Nizhny Tagil. On October 15, 1949, by resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 4742-1832c, the tactical and technical specifications for the “Object 600” were approved. The design bureau of Plant No. 183 made a decision to change the overall layout of the machine, which delayed the project’s completion time. However, in May 1950, the work was returned to OKB-174. In December 1950, the first prototype was manufactured, which passed factory tests by the end of the year. In June-July 1951, preliminary tests of the vehicle were carried out, and in early August the SU-122-54 was sent for state tests. During the tests, shortcomings were identified in the operation of the KPVT machine guns, the barrel bore purge dispenser, increased forces on the guidance flywheels, as well as insufficient firing accuracy. However, the state tests of the machine were accepted and Plant No. 174 began the stage of developing design documentation and organizing mass production of the machine, all work was completed before January 1, 1952. In the first quarter of 1952, a second prototype was manufactured, which passed acceptance tests in June-July of the same year. Based on the test results, the necessary changes were made to the design of the self-propelled gun. However, serial production was stopped due to the lack of D-49 guns. On March 15, 1954, by resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 438-194, the SU-122-54 was adopted by the Soviet Army, but entered serial production only in 1955. Serial production was carried out in small batches. The total number of cars produced was about 100 units. During repairs after 1958, R-113 radio stations were installed on the SU-122-54, and some self-propelled guns were converted into tractors.

How to play T-54
It is worth noting the main quality of a medium tank – dynamics. The specific power of almost 20 hp/t allows you to reach a maximum speed of 56 km/h in a matter of seconds. The T-54 is very maneuverable, since the chassis turns 48 degrees/sec. considered one of the best indicators at the level.
The tank can be armed with 2 similar guns, which have some differences:
100 MM D-54 – average armor penetration 219 mm, one-time damage 320 units, aiming time 2 seconds, dispersion 0.33 m, damage per minute 2258 units;
100 MM D-10T2S – average armor penetration 201 mm, one-time damage 320 units, aiming time 2.5 seconds, dispersion 0.39 m, damage per minute 2594 units.
That is, the first gun is more accurate, but takes longer to reload, the second gun is more suitable for medium and close distances, but reloads faster. If you explore further tanks along the branch, then you will have to arm yourself with both guns. Armor penetration of 201 mm will often be insufficient, since you will have to play with 10 levels, but fast reloading will allow you to instantly “disassemble” enemy vehicles in some cases.
As for the tank's armor, these characteristics were often changed by the developers. Previously, the tank had “cheat” armor on the sides and front, and even level 10 tank destroyers could not penetrate the turret. After some time, the tank’s armor was reduced to such an extent that even the 8th level began to penetrate into the most armored zones. At the moment, part of that armor was returned to the Soviet ST and it began to tank shells from some 10-k and classmates. The turret was restored with armor, but a vulnerable area was created - the roof of the turret together with the commander's hatch. The silhouette of the tank is low, so it is not recommended to go into a “clinch” with tanks that can tilt the gun, since experienced players will have no problem breaking through the thin layer of armor on the roof of the tower.
The tank's viewing radius is quite good, so in some situations it will be able to replace light tanks and detect enemy vehicles for damage by allies. With a fully upgraded crew and installed equipment, the T-54 will be able to spot the enemy at a distance of more than 420 m.
It is worth noting that the tank is well camouflaged. The Soviet ST has small dimensions, so with upgraded crew camouflage, it can become a secretive sniper who will deal damage from afar without detection.
The T-54 is a breakthrough tank because it has an accurate, rapid-fire gun and high dynamics. It is more comfortable to play with allied medium tanks, actively exchanging fire with the enemy and providing effective fire support. The tank's turret has good armor; however, due to its low silhouette, the vertical declination angles do not allow the turret to be used for tanking on terrain. On almost every map there are places with low piles of garbage and embankments, where the once popular Soviet medium tank will feel comfortable.

How to play SU-101
The SU-101 is a non-standard machine, the game of which requires a certain skill, precise knowledge of the machine, as well as a special approach. Always remember that due to the rear position of the wheelhouse, elevation angles here are poor. When choosing positions, focus on this indicator.
Being at the bottom of the list, a tank destroyer cannot boast of armor, but at the same time, due to the good mobility, as well as the invisibility of the tank, the tactics turn out to be very diverse
The first battle line can be occupied, but only with extreme caution
Playing from the second line gives you greater security, and due to the high accuracy of both weapons, you will be able to effectively shoot through the enemy without even being in close combat.
Never forget about the mini-map and battle tracking, use your mobility, move around the map, help your allies, return to shoot down the base. And always remember that for artillery you are easy prey, one shot is enough to send you to the hangar, and for heavy tanks and other tank destroyers - two or three shots.
