Russian-made hunting rifles: review. Russian hunting rifled carbines

What is a carbine? This is a light rifle equipped with a short barrel. Sometimes manufacturers call some smoothbore shotguns this way.

The word "carbine" comes from the French term "carabiner". The product of the same name was invented by gunsmith Gaspar Zollner.

What are carbines? This can be a special firearm, or models of rifle systems that are used to equip infantrymen: they are distinguished by their lighter weight, length, and other device details. By purpose, this weapon can be combat, hunting, service (police, tactical, etc.). It can also be used for self-defense. By the way, in Russia the use of long-barreled rifles for self-defense is prohibited.

Carbines equipped with an automatic fire mode are called machine guns in Russia. This is a special type of small arms.

And finally, rifled weapons are called small arms, in the bore of which there are helical riflings that force the bullet to move, rotating around its own axis. As a result, accuracy of fire, flight range and trajectory stability are ensured.

About choosing a good rifled carbine

For me, in driven hunting for ungulates, the TOZ-34, loaded with buckshot or a bullet (depending on the conditions), was absolutely sufficient for a long time. The first time I thought about rifled weapons was when, three hundred meters from me, the elk walked away from the edge of the forest, where I was standing at the corner.

The second time was when a family of wild boars ran away along the opposite side of the ravine, one hundred and eighty meters away. And the third - when the cleaver, located three hundred and seventy meters from me, disappeared. When getting up to a number, I always measure distances with a laser rangefinder and notice landmarks. A useful habit! It helps not only to take the lead correctly, but also to avoid wounded animals.

So, I decided to buy a carbine. And then he found himself in the situation of Buridan’s donkey. In the USSR there were three bolt carbines: “Los”, “Bars” and KO-44, and two self-loading ones: “Bear” and SKS, and the inaccessible assortment of TsKIB. To be honest, I didn’t want to take a semi-automatic, the conversion “Vepri”, “Tigers” and “Saigas” are devoid of the “hunting soul”, these are rapid-fire hunting tools, a kind of win-win option.

And I have always gravitated towards the classics: a beautiful line of the butt, a Bavarian cheekpiece, a velvety action of the bolt... This is probably why my first “wish” was a fitting. Having studied the range and cost of imported fittings, I sadly assessed my financial capabilities and turned to domestic manufacturers. IZH-94 struck me not only with its poor execution (the “masters” had probably heard about planting iron in wood, but also with the edge of their ears for a long time, as well as about the parallelism of the notches), but also with an extremely “original” solution for connecting the trunks.

Seeing my torment, the saleswoman took this product from me, put it on the counter with the trigger guards facing up, took out a mallet from under the counter and with a strong blow collected the fitting. My upbringing and reverence for the printed word do not allow me to convey the impression, amazement and confusion of feelings that overwhelmed me at that moment.

I looked at “Moose” briefly. How did you look? I twisted the bolt, cut my hand with the rough edge and gave it back to the seller.

If I had only used the Internet and periodicals, I would have made a lot of mistakes, but fortunately, I have good friends whom I can’t help but thank for their invaluable help. In particular, I am very grateful to my old friend Pyotr Kostromin, under whose strict guidance I performed all further actions with the carbine. It took me a long time to choose the bar and finally settled on Kozap Weaver. Peter helped glue it onto epoxy resin. The CZ has a figured groove on the receiver, and the rib has a tooth that fits exactly into the groove.

The first time I thought about rifled weapons was when, three hundred meters from me, the elk walked away from the edge of the forest, where I was standing at the corner. Photo: Fotolia.com

Based on the results of operation, I can say the following. The wood from which the CZ 550 LUX stock is made is quite delicate and easily scratches and chips. Plastic, of course, is more practical, but carbines with a detachable magazine are not available with a plastic stock. Open sights are not needed at all; they are tightly covered by the optics mounting bar. Perhaps everyone knows about the namushnik, which flies off during the first hunt.

I dismantled the front and rear sights, filled the holes from the fastening bolts with hot glue and covered the carbine with vinyl camouflage film.

In general, the impressions of the carbine are twofold: while it is relatively accurate (and I squeezed half an arc minute out of it for a hundred meters), it is made crudely; metal processing requires polishing and finishing; The round head of the bolt handle is located inconveniently and complicates quick reloading; I had to replace it with a drop-shaped knob.

Hunting carbines "Saiga" with a smooth barrel

Russian hunting rifles can be smoothbore. These are self-loading smoothbore shotguns, made in hunting-sports, hunting-trade, special service, combined or tactical versions. They can be produced with a charge of 18.5, 10.2 and 15.6 mm.

These products are distinguished by a single marking that describes them.

Such Russian hunting rifles have the following design features, expressed in three basic modifications:

  • “Saiga (.410.2 or 20)” without a letter index. This smooth-bore self-loading shotgun is equipped with a hunting stock and a forend made of wood or plastic. The barrel has a length of 680 or 570 (580 for 12K) mm. Sighting devices – a rear sight and a front sight – are also attached above the gas outlet tube. Upon special order, the product can be equipped with an adjustable sighting bar.
  • “Saiga (.410, 20 or 12)” with index C is a version of the gun with a hunting fore-end, a plastic folding stock and a firing control handle (identical to the AK assault rifle). The barrel of this product has a length of 680 or 570 (580 for 12C) mm. Above the gas outlet tube there is a front sight and rear sight - sighting devices. By special order it is possible to place an adjustable aiming bar.
  • “Saiga (.410, 12 or 20)” with index K is a shortened self-loading shotgun. This is a "smooth bore carbine". The pistol grip, fore-end and butt of this product are copied from the Kalashnikov assault rifle. The device is equipped with a locking device, thanks to which the weapon can be removed from the safety only when the butt is folded back. The barrel is made with a length of 330 mm. Sighting devices have a hunting or “automatic” look.

What types of hunting weapons are there?

The twentieth gauge is suitable for hunting birds and small animals. It can also be charged with salt. The power of such a charge is less than that of a twelve-gauge, but it has the best accuracy of all possible options.

The middle option between 12 and 20 gauges is considered to be 16. In terms of its main characteristics - combat accuracy, range, it is close to size 20, but its power is close to size 12, that is, it does not have enough stopping power for long-range shooting, which is why experienced hunters It is not recommended to choose this caliber.

Nowadays they also produce hunting equipment of 24, 28, 32 and 36 calibers, but the use of guns of this type is limited, and we will not consider them in this article.

"Saiga"

Are you wondering what Russian-made Saiga hunting rifles are? These wonderful products are based on the AK. Engineers have created a colossal number of different designs of smooth-bore weapons of the 410th, 12th and 20th caliber. They also developed rifled weapons for 7.62X51, 7.62X39, 5.56X45 and 5.45X39 mm charges, as well as 9X19 Parabellum (.22 Long Rifle). The employees of this enterprise also produced small unique batches for the scarce Soviet charges 5.6X39 and 9X53 mm R.

It should be noted that the first in the series was the Saiga-5.6 carbine with a 5.6X39 charge in 1974.

Rating of high-quality Russian-made rifles, carbines and shotguns for 2022

In order for the carbine to have a long service life, the chamber and bore are coated with chrome, which prevents rapid wear of the working surfaces. The device has space for mounting optics, which allows it to be used for long-range shooting. The device recharges itself, using the energy of exhaust gases and a spring mechanism when fired.

To ensure safety, the product is equipped with a non-removable flame arrester. The butt is equipped with a rubber shock absorber to soften recoil when fired.

According to reviews from owners, the SVD mechanism is made reliably and is highly stable, which virtually eliminates the possibility of misfires. Since classic brackets were used in the development of the model, a large number of optics can be used with the device to choose from. The most commonly used sniper PSO-1.

You can find a carbine in any hunting store, since the device is widespread in Russia. There are many reviews on it on thematic forums on the Internet. There you can also find recommendations for care, repair and improvement of the product. All components have an average price compared to analogues, which gives a wide scope for modifying the device in accordance with the user’s preferences.

This product is intended for hunting small game and birds. The modification was released to replace outdated versions of TOZ-17 (18). The device was developed at the Tula Arms Plant, which gave its name to the shortened rifle.

The model differs from its predecessors in a modified bolt, which has not previously been used on rifles of this type. TOZ-78 is a basic modification, which is equipped with an optical sight and a magazine that holds 5 or 10 rounds.

This is a bolt-action carbine that cannot self-load, and you have to manually pull the bolt. For small game hunters this is not significant.

The carbine is equipped with a safety catch with a function to prevent spontaneous firing. The trigger mechanism is fixed on the side, on a special mount and is adjustable. For this, adjusting screws are used, one of which is responsible for the force of the trigger, the second for the smoothness of its movement.

The device is equipped with both a mechanical sight and an optical one. At the same time, the second one can move along the barrel, allowing the use of a mechanical sight without removing the optical one. The stock is made of birch. If the product is exported, beech or walnut may be used in the finishing.

Initially, the device was made in the form of a smoothbore gun, which was suitable for hunting small animals, sport shooting or self-defense. Subsequently, a medium-caliber version of the gun was developed, which could be used for hunting medium-sized game. Subsequently, the model was repeatedly modified; rifled carbines were developed, which gained popularity among the population.

Saiga, unlike its famous predecessor, does not have the ability to automatically fire, since this parameter is not so important for fishing. The appearance of the product has also been changed. Due to the nuances of the legislation regarding the volume of the magazine in weapons used for civilian equipment, its capacity was reduced. However, craftsmen have developed technology that allows the use of an army magazine in a device used for hunting wild animals. It should be noted that alterations of this kind are illegal, and if detected, they can bring many problems to the owner of the carbine.

Carbine "Tiger" hunting

Now let's look at the Russian Tiger hunting carbines. This is a great weapon! Izhevsk gunsmiths are engaged in the production of this miracle. It should be noted that Izhmash specialists have long been working on transforming military small arms into commercial hunting weapons.

At first, the above plant was engaged in the production of the Saiga carbine. This product was created on the basis of the fantastic Kalashnikov assault rifle. Further, the production of the Tiger automatic carbine, made for hunting on the basis of the equally popular Dragunov rifle (SVD), was launched.

So, Russian-made Tiger hunting rifles are used for hunting large and medium-sized animals. You can use rifle cartridges the same as in the SVD. For the hunting version, they are marked 7.62X54R, are equipped with a semi-jacketed bullet and are low in cost.

The Tiger carbine demonstrates high accuracy of fire. This simple device is lightweight. Its total length is 1200 mm, weight without charges is 3.9 kg. With this weapon you can fire using an open or optical sight. Moreover, for the first case there is no need to remove the optical sight. The firing range is three hundred meters.

The first sample of the Tiger carbine surprised with an impressive number of shortcomings. The weapon included a PSO-1 army sight, which turned out to be completely unsuitable for hunting conditions. The product was equipped with an orthopedic butt, very convenient for athletes and army snipers: it had a cutout for the thumb. So, this butt turned out to be completely unsuitable for hunting.

The carbine linings on the fore-end were made of plastic: they creaked in the cold and the shooter could get frostbite on his fingers. There was no flash suppressor, so the hunter shooting at the animal at dusk was blind as a mole.

It should be noted that Russian-made hunting rifles have always been famous throughout the world. But complaints were received and received from Tiger about Izhmash. The weapons engineers of this famous enterprise had to carefully study them. And they modified this carbine model, creating a universal side mount for hunting optics, including a night vision scope, adapted for installation. To reduce flash and recoil at the moment of firing, the carbine was equipped with a muzzle brake-flame arrester. At the same time, the plant began producing a carbine with wooden linings placed on the barrel and a hunting butt.

The principle of operation of carabiners

The number of grooves, the direction of their rotation, the type and pitch may differ in different types of carbines. However, modern firearms can have up to 10 rifling. The higher the number, the stronger the grouping of shots. The rifling in the barrel has left and right direction of rotation.

In addition, they are distinguished by profile type. It happens:

In everyday life, trapezoidal and rectangular types of rifling have become more widespread. The pitch of the cut is the distance by which the cut turns completely. In our country it is measured in millimeters; in the West, revolutions are counted in inches. Long cartridges require a faster (shorter) twist, short bullets require a slower (long) twist.

Carbines are divided into types, taking into account the method of reloading:

Saiga rifled carbines

Let's look at Russian-made hunting rifled carbines using the Saiga carbines as an example. Let's look at their markings, which have a single interpretation.

First, the word “Saiga” or Saiga is written - the name of the family. Then the letter designation is read through a hyphen, identifying the model of the carbine.

Known indexes:

  • If there is no index, this means that the product is the original version of the carbine. Its barrel has a length of 520 mm for calibers 7.62X39 and 5.6X39 mm, as well as 555 mm for 7.62X51, 9X53 and 5.56X45 mm. The weapon is equipped with a wooden butt.
  • The M index is placed on modernized versions of the Saiga carbine, which have the following changes: the barrel is extended to 555 mm in sizes 7.62X39 and .223Rem, the trigger device has a reduced trigger force, the wooden butt is equipped with a rubber butt plate, the caliber 7.62X39 is equipped with a bolt with three stops.
  • The indices M1, M2 and M3 mean variations of Saiga-M.
  • The MK index marks the Saiga-M model, equipped with a reduced barrel (415 or 336 mm) and a lock that does not allow opening fire with the butt folded.

Do you think that Russian rifled hunting carbines are marked only with an index? Of course not! Next, through the hyphen, we can read the caliber designation. Then, if there is a special version, the next index is written, for example: EXP 01 - police version.

The best carbines in the world

We present a rating of the highest quality carbines on the planet.

Blaser

Blaser was founded in 1957 in Germany. In 2010, the company launched the R8 rifled carbine; this model is an improved version of the R93.

The buttstock is ergonomic; thanks to the fore-end, the carbine is comfortable to pick up and hold in the process of preparing for shooting and when firing. Therefore, during use there is almost no felt recoil. The design is very successful - the magazine can be replaced extremely quickly; to remove it, you need to press two buttons. It is possible to insert a new one blindly.

The gun is perfectly protected from accidental shots, it has a manual cocking. The spring is cocked immediately before firing.

The weapon is easy to disassemble and reassemble. This makes cleaning and maintaining the gun easier.

Mauser

The bolt of the gun is of a longitudinally sliding, rotary type, has six lugs arranged in two rows. The stops are located in grooves in the receiver. On the right side of the bolt clutch there is a lever that cocks the mainspring; in addition, it controls the safety.

Sauer

Sauer & Sohn was founded in Germany in 1751. The birthplace of the company was the city of Suhl, famous for its weapons traditions. As of today, Sauer is the oldest arms company in Germany.

The disadvantage is the high cocking gain in the gate. Overall, this is a fairly affordable carbine that won't let you down when hunting, and it's reasonably priced.

Remington

The Remington 750 model is a self-loading carbine that operates on the principle of partial exhaust of powder gases from the barrel channel. The carbine went on sale in 2006.

The weapon is available in two versions: Woodsmaster, in which the stock and fore-end are made of wood (American walnut), and Synthetic, in which the stock and fore-end are made of plastic. The carbine is widely used - it is used to hunt both birds and large prey.

Winchester Model

The weapon is equipped with sighting mechanisms: there is a Battue-type sighting bar and a front sight, which is adjustable in height and horizontally. There are 4 holes on top of the receiver designed for attaching optics.

The carbine has a box magazine with a capacity of 2, 3 or 4 bullets. To block the firing mechanism, a transverse fuse is used. The button that turns on the safety is located behind the trigger. The stock and fore-end are made of high-quality walnut wood.

In Russia they make carbines of good quality at a reasonable price.

"Boar"

The disadvantages of the model include its high weight. The weight of the gun is felt during long journeys. It has an inconvenient safety lever. But the price is reasonable, and the reliability of the gun is excellent, which compensates for the shortcomings.

The weapon is convenient to use both for hunting and for training shooting. Suitable for both experienced hunters and beginners.

Simonov self-loading carbine (SKS)

The carbine became legendary during the Great Patriotic War and was used in military parades. With its help, game birds, hares, moose, wild boars and even “clubfooted” animals are caught. It has a reliable design and is easy to operate. The carbine hits accurately, and its bullets are inexpensive. The disadvantages include an unrespectable appearance.

The weapon is reloaded by venting gases from the barrel. The piston is connected to the bolt using a spring-loaded pusher. The channel is locked by lifting the rear of the bolt.

"Saiga"

Shooting can only be done with single shots. The carbine has a removable box magazine, the capacity is 2-10 shells. Many modifications of the carbine have an open sight: a front sight with a rear sight and a mount for optics and red dot sights.

Buttstocks and fore-ends can be made of various materials: plywood, plastic, wood, metal and have a variety of designs.

"Golden eagle"

Models of the Tiger carbine

In general, many Russian-made hunting rifles are not similar to this model: for comfortable shooting, the “Tiger” rifle has the trigger slightly moved back. The shooting capabilities of this product have been expanded by shifting the front sight and adding a comb - thanks to these nuances, aiming is very comfortable.

Today there are several examples of such a self-loading carbine:

  • "Tiger", manufactured for the Russian charge 7.62Х54R. The bullet weighs 13.2 g, the muzzle energy is 3600 J, and the initial speed reaches 780 m/s. The detachable magazine can hold five to ten rounds.
  • "Tiger-308" was created for a foreign charge 308Win (7.62X51), the bullet of which has a mass of 9.7-11.7 g. The muzzle energy of the product is 3700 J, and the initial speed can reach 800 m/s. The detachable magazine holds ten rounds.
  • "Tiger-9" was created for a reinforced 9.2X64 mm cartridge. The bullet of this charge weighs 16-19 g, its muzzle energy is 5800 J, and the primary speed can reach up to 820 m/s. The detachable magazine holds five charges.

Carbines of all models of this type are distinguished by the following features:

  • The product has a traditional wooden hunting stock (birch, beech, walnut), equipped with a rubber shock absorber and a pistol grip.
  • The wooden butt (beech, walnut, birch) is equipped with a rubber butt pad. It has a recess for the thumb, called a sniper or orthopedic.
  • Buttstock made of impact-resistant plastic. Equipped with a “rotating cheek”, necessary for comfortable shooting with optics.
  • The weapon is equipped with a pistol grip and a metal tubular butt, which can always be moved to the right. The buttstock of this product has a “rotating cheekpiece”, which is necessary for comfortable shooting using optics. The length of such a carbine with the stock folded is less than 260 mm.
  • The product is equipped with hunting barrel linings made of wood.
  • The weapon has a long cylindrical flash suppressor.

By special order, the Tiger carbine of any model can be made with a barrel extended to 620 mm. The kit of such a tool includes an oil can, a cleaning rod and various accessories placed in a pencil case.

The customer can also add a case, optical sight with bracket and belt to the set. Agree, the hunter is given a colossal choice in order to buy exactly the product that he likes.

Most Important Features to Consider

The best rifle for long range shooting should provide you with great performance and the accuracy should be outstanding. The most important design features that determine effectiveness are: barrel profile, stock, gauge and margin.

action This is the mechanism that handles long range rifle ammunition. Common action types are bolt action, semi-automatic action, lever action, burst action, and pump action. Most one-off models tend to be made with screws or rips.

caliber This is one of the most important determining factors to consider. There are usually several factors that affect your long-range performance: the ballistic coefficient of the bullet's velocity and the muzzle. The ballistic coefficient of a bullet refers to the measure of the bullet as it moves through the air; while snout speed is the speed at which the bullet exists.

Values : The best model should have stock made to suit your personal needs and should be able to adapt to your design, style and pose. The best stock is one that is reinforced with a durable material such as aluminum. The design must take into account the needs of left-handers and right-handers.

The rear cylinder head must be modifiable in cast iron/height and height, and must be installed with a jaw that can be laterally adjusted. The locking plate must be modifiable for angle and distance.

Bolt action for hunting rifles

Let's now look at Russian bolt-action hunting rifles. How are they different from their counterparts? The fact is that they are equipped with a bolt action, which allows you to close and open the barrel, reload and manually remove the spent cartridge case.

The Dreyse rifle was first equipped with such a bolt in 1841. We know that designers try to automate everything as much as possible. This archaism - the bolt shutter should have sunk into oblivion long ago. This device is not currently used in small automatic weapons. But in hunting rifles, bolted closures serve as a guarantor of product reliability.

It should be noted that quite recently the production of weapons in Russia has found a second wind. Now the cult American actor Steven Seagal supports Russian masters. He likes Russian-made hunting rifles. New items on the gun market have exceeded all expectations. These are the Saiga-12 carbine (caliber 12/76), the MP-155 shotgun (caliber 12/76) and the MP-27 Silver shotgun. Choose, take an interest, study these masterpieces and, perhaps, you will soon be able to boast of big booty!

How to choose a carabiner

In order not to miss the choice of a carbine for hunting, you must first decide for what type of hunting the weapon will be used.

For example, for varminting (hunting while sitting on a tower or from very long distances), a semi-automatic hunting rifle with a heavy barrel would be most suitable. It provides the ability to fire several shots in a row and has high energy absorption. For this type of hunting, a very important factor is the ability to place the hunting rifle on a stand or press it to your shoulder and shoot accurately at the target. The main disadvantage is the narrow scope of application. That is, when used for another type of hunting, it will be inconvenient.

In order to hunt from ambush or from the approach, lightweight single-barrel bolt-action carbines for hunting with a collet or rotary bolt system are more suitable. The barrel length should be about 600 mm. Since this type of hunting involves taking one, but most accurate shot, these bolt-on carbines are best suited.

It is extremely simple to decide which carbine is best for hunting for a person who is engaged in several different types of this activity at once. The most suitable would be a universal carbine, the design of which uses linear bolts.

An important factor for many when deciding which rifle to choose for hunting is the financial indicator. It is worth considering that costs are not limited to purchasing weapons. Most likely, after purchasing a carbine, you will need optical sights for it. The purchase of some of them may exceed the cost of the weapon itself.

The choice of scopes also depends on the type of hunting for which they will be used. The sighting scope has a large lens so that the hunter can clearly see the target even in the dark and at long distances. And sights for driven hunting have a small lens size, as well as small dimensions, so as not to affect the weight and balance of the gun itself. They make it possible not to close the other eye while aiming and to easily find the target when shooting offhand.

The third important factor is the choice of caliber. This, as with all other criteria for choosing a weapon, depends on the type of hunting. The larger the animal, the larger the caliber should be. For example, when hunting bear, it makes no sense to use a carbine with a caliber of less than 9 mm. And for hunting small animals (raccoons and foxes), a 5-mm caliber is enough.

Having made a choice based on these three factors, you can already look for something specific. If it becomes too difficult to choose among the best rifles for hunting, then you can seek advice from more experienced hunters.

Getting permission

However, it is impossible to just walk into a store and make a purchase. To do this, you need to obtain a license to purchase rifled weapons, which can be issued only under certain conditions.

The thing is that the rules provide for the possession by a citizen of a hunting weapon with a smooth barrel for the previous five years. They issue a license for the purchase of rifled weapons from the police, from the department at the citizen’s place of residence, or from the LRO department. Therefore, you should first prepare documents for the LRO. There are no fundamental differences between rifled and smooth-bore weapons.

The LRO requires:

  1. Hunter's ticket.
  2. The presence of a place equipped according to specially approved requirements in which storage will take place (this can be a safe or a durable metal box tightly attached to the wall) in the house or apartment where the rifled gun will be located.

It is worth noting that obtaining a license for a rifle is a necessary and very responsible action. After this, you should undergo an examination by specialists at a medical institution and receive a certificate 046-1. Having received a license for a rifled weapon, you can go to the store to purchase rifled hunting weapons (it is worth remembering that a license for a rifled weapon has a strictly limited validity period, determined by the legislation of the Russian Federation at six months).

After purchase, you must register with the LRO. You must register your weapon within 14 days from the date of purchase (the store must note the date of purchase). It is the registration of the purchase with the LRO that provides the answer to the question of how to obtain a permit for a rifled weapon, since when registering a weapon with the LRO, a permit for a rifled weapon is also issued at the same time, which is valid for five years.

It should be noted that obtaining a permit for rifled weapons is extremely important, and this must be done within the strictly allotted time.

To reissue a permit, you must contact the LRO with the following documents:

  1. Hunter's ticket (a copy of it is included in the package of documents).
  2. A permit (previously issued and expiring), to ensure completeness of the package of documents, you should also take care of its copy.
  3. A document that proves your identity. As a rule, this is a passport (in addition, the LRO requires additional copies of pages from it, which contain information about registration and a photograph of the citizen).
  4. Statement.
  5. Certificate from a medical institution in form No. 046-1.
  6. A report written by the district inspector, which describes the results of his personal inspection of conditions and compliance with storage rules.
  7. Two 3x4 photographs.

In addition, you must have the weapon itself, the permit for which is being renewed. It should also be remembered that an application for renewal of a permit for rifled hunting weapons should be submitted before the expiration date specified in it. If this requirement is ignored, a fine may be imposed or even the weapon itself may be confiscated.

The period for consideration of an application to extend a permit is limited by law to two weeks. As for consumables, cartridges for rifled hunting weapons are purchased in specialized stores.
