Traumatic pistols TT Ten-28 and Grand Power T11

Grand Power products have been in service with law enforcement agencies in different countries for many years. It is also popular among civilians. Both combat and traumatic models are produced.

Production was initially located only in Slovakia, but over time, these weapons began to be produced in the Russian Federation. The issue of producing these weapons in other states is currently being considered.

The Grand Power traumatic pistol is represented by several types that have been modified and improved. Pistols T10, T11, T12 and T15 have taken their place in the traumatic weapons market; have the appropriate certificates.

Grand Power traumatic pistols are sold in the Russian Federation and other countries. The developer of this weapon is the Slovak company Grand Power Limited. Chief weapons engineer - Yaroslav Kuratsina.

Types of pistols of the “Grand Power” series

Among the weapons in this series it is worth highlighting:

1. Combat:

  • K100.

2. Traumatic:

  • T10;
  • T11;
  • T12;
  • T15.

The K100 is a self-loading combat pistol that has many modifications. Automation uses a short barrel stroke. It is controlled by a magazine release button, a two-way lever that allows you to turn off the safety, and two-way slide stop levers. Ammunition in the magazine is arranged in two rows; holds from 15 to 19 traumatic rounds (larger capacity magazines hold 17-19 rounds). Weight without cartridges is 740 g. The initial speed of the bullet is 350 m/s.

But! Since the review is primarily about the traumatic model of the Grand Power pistol. This will be the only mention of the K100 in this article.

T10 entered service in 2008. It works by blowback recoil. The units are made of high-strength steel, which is also used in military weapons. The plastic shell made it possible to reduce the weight - it is 700 g. There are barriers in the barrel that do not allow firing a solid object. This weapon allows you to shoot accurately from a distance of more than 10 meters, which is rare for traumatic weapons.

In the T11 , an updated model of the T10, the barrel design has no grooves (weakness), but there are pins at the entrance and exit of the antechamber. The designers changed the shape of the rear sight, and this model comes with 3 front sights. The handle is more ergonomic than in the T10 and allows for a stable and tight grip. The T11 traumatic weapon has high strength and high muzzle energy; Suitable for sport shooting. Accessories and spare parts are available for it.

T12 is a firearm of limited destruction, a traumatic pistol. It was developed in Slovakia and intended for the Russian market. Has a plastic shell. The main difference from previous models is the caliber (10×28). This weapon is an improved version of all previous versions. The technical superiority of the Grand Power T12 is ensured by a number of characteristics.

T15 was released recently and in 2017/2018. appeared on the market. It has good balancing, and firing can be carried out in two modes - single action (SA) or double action (DA). Its caliber is 45×30, and its weight is no more than 850 g (some modifications have more than 900 g). This is a fairly large weapon. Push-button magazine, 10-round. High quality manufacturing makes this injury one of the most promising on the market. This short-barreled weapon costs from 42,000 rubles.

Separately, it is worth highlighting the traumatic pistol “Grand Power” T15

Development history of Grand Power T11

The entire line of civilian pistols for self-defense “Grand Power T” is a product of adaptation of the Slovak company Grandpower, specializing in the production of pistols for the 9*19 mm combat caliber, to the Russian market. It would be unfair not to mention the interesting story with the development of its predecessor, the T10 model. It seems that this was the only or one of the few cases when the leading designer and owner of the company, Yaroslav Kuratsina, created almost a “dream weapon” for our compatriots, taking part in online discussions on the thematic forum www.guns.ru, which further fueled interest to the future news.

The importer was the Russian company PKP AKBS. In the future, it is they who are engaged in the production of the main parts of pistols in connection with the tightening of legislation in the field of traumatic weapons.

In the year the first batches were released (2008), the T10 was truly the best example available. With its appearance on store shelves, buyers no longer had to choose between “powerful but inconvenient” or “compact but unreliable.” However, the pistol had a number of weaknesses: after hundreds of shots, the first delays appeared, and the design of the magazine was “brought to mind” literally in every new batch.

This is T10 - pay attention to the manufacturer's mark

The appearance of the sequel was not long in coming - a couple of years later the Grand Power T12 appeared on sale, and a little later - its “younger brother” - the compact T11.

"Grand Power" T15

The Grand Power T15 traumatic pistol is the latest model in the line of traumatic weapons for 2022. Having reviewed the design of its barrel, it is worth noting the large margin of safety. The barrel is practically motionless, has a large mass and is fixed with a special notch.

The operation of the trigger mechanism has two modes, differing in the force of impact during the descent and the process itself. In the first case, the hammer, cocked by manual action on the bolt, breaks after a slight force on the trigger. In the second case, the impact on the hook itself is sufficient for the shot.

Increased energy when firing allows you to successfully use the T15, despite the less high accuracy of fire that is typical for other “T” pistols. The shooting efficiency of this weapon is ensured by the large weight of the bullet, its speed characteristics and the weight of the weapon itself.

This weapon should be used strictly according to the instructions and with extreme caution, even when unloaded. The same care must be taken when cleaning it. There is no need to direct it at others unnecessarily. It is necessary to remember about the possibility of a “lingering” 30-second shot in a situation where there was a malfunction in the shooting. In self-defense, this traumatic pistol should be used as carefully as possible, without resorting to shots at the most important parts of the attacker’s body. There are recommendations to refrain from shooting from a distance of less than 1 meter in non-critical situations.

Description of design and principle of operation

Next we will talk specifically about the T11, however, its differences from the “twelfth” are minimal.

So, the free shutter operating principle is used. To ensure reliability against mechanical damage, the plastic frame is reinforced with a metal frame from the inside.

Some parts of the design deserve special attention:

  • Picatinny rail located on the bottom surface of the front of the frame;
  • Very compact placement of guides for moving the bolt housing and trigger mechanism in the frame;
  • The barrel is made without an acceleration section and is equipped with a milled recess close to the channel. The main guide is located under the barrel;
  • The safety control levers, magazine release buttons, bolt stop and bolt release levers are duplicated on both sides of the pistol, making it equally convenient for right-handers and left-handers;
  • Disassembly capability is similar to the Glock family of pistols - just pull down the bolt release

Sights consist of a removable front sight and a horizontally adjustable rear sight. Based on the unsuccessful experience of the previous model, the magazine is designed similarly to the “combat” Grand Power pistols.

And here you can clearly see that the T11 pistol is produced in Russia

Main characteristics:

  • T10 - weighs 700 grams. The cartridge used is 10×22T caliber. The barrel is 108 mm long. The length of the gun is 187 mm, with a height of 133 mm and a width of 36 mm. The regular magazine holds 10 rounds, the same as other "T" models.
  • T11 - weighs 740 g. Equipped with a flag-type fuse. The barrel length is 85 mm. The length of the weapon itself is 170 mm. Height - 118 mm. Width - 36 mm.
  • T12 - has a caliber of 10x28. Pistol height - 133.5 mm, length - 188 mm, width - 36 mm. The barrel has a length of 100 mm. Without cartridges, the gun weighs 770 g. The increased-capacity magazine holds 17 rounds of ammunition.
  • T15 - weighs 850 g. The barrel is made of weapon steel and has a length of 120 mm. Main parameters: 207×138×36 mm. A detachable two-row magazine of regular and high capacity is available.

Ammo

The combat K100 uses 9x19 Parabellum. The cartridge has bullets with high stopping power.

The T10 traumatic weapon uses a 10×22T caliber. The T10 can be used with 9mm Pistole Automatik cartridges to increase muzzle energy.

The T12 pistol uses 10×28 caliber. It replaced 10x22T ammunition, which, due to its insufficient length, caused problems with under-feeding into the chamber. The introduction of the 10×28 cartridge into operation increased the efficiency of firing from this weapon in self-defense and the reliability of its operation.

The same cartridges (10×28) can be used with T11.

The T15 is used with the new 45x30 cartridges. They have more mass than previous samples. The ball will lose less energy when shooting at long or relatively long distances. The speed of a bullet is below the speed of sound.

TT Shadow-28

We present to you a new product from the manufacturer Test-Weapon LLC. The pistol is an exact copy of the legendary Tula Tokarev and has all its advantages.

Connoisseurs of traumatic weapons will highly appreciate the design of the smooth barrel, which is devoid of restrictive “teeth”. The impossibility of firing a solid body is achieved due to two sections of different diameters. This design approach is recognized as the best solution in the injury market; it provides durability and increased muzzle energy.

An important quality for any self-defense weapon is ease of daily carry. In this parameter, the TT gives a head start to its competitors. The pistol is flat, it is only 28 mm thick. Another advantage is the effective self-defense caliber 10x28. First of all, this model will be of interest to history buffs, all those who appreciate the aesthetics of military weapons. This is one of the few historical weapons suitable for shooting and available to civilian buyers.

The Tula Tokarev is made entirely of steel, which is appreciated by many shooters. But we must understand that the design, originally from the first half of the twentieth century, is very archaic. The main drawback of the Shadow-28 was inherited from its ancestor: this pistol does not have a safety lock. Therefore, carrying it with a cartridge in the chamber is not only illegal, but also dangerous, as it may result in an accidental shot.

Characteristics

  • Weight – 850 g
  • Overall dimensions (LxHxW) – 196x129x28 mm
  • Caliber – 10x28
  • Magazine capacity – 8 rounds
  • Includes two magazines.

Assembly/disassembly

The disassembly procedure is similar to the sequence of disassembling a Makarov combat pistol. It is necessary for cleaning the gun and tuning. First, the magazine is released using a latch. After this, the fuse is deactivated. Next, the presence of ammunition in the chamber is checked. Disassembly continues only with an empty chamber. Then the trigger rod is pulled back, and after that the casing-jam moves to the rear position. While in this position it must be removed; To do this, you need to pull on the back. Thus, the casing-jam is removed from the guides. Next, it is moved to the extreme forward position and removed from the barrel. After this, the return spring is removed. Incomplete disassembly ends here.

The assembly is carried out using the reverse algorithm.

Repair

There have been cases of rupture of the barrel of this traumatic weapon. This happens due to underfilling or jamming of cartridges. If the bullet gets stuck, the barrel may rupture upon contact with the next ball.

Traumatic pistols of the “T” series have a warranty period. If a malfunction occurs and passport cartridges are used, the pistol must be repaired at the expense of the manufacturer.

If a defect is discovered in a traumatic pistol, the buyer has the right to choose who to contact - the seller or the manufacturer. He may demand that the product be repaired, get a new gun instead, or demand a refund for it.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages:

  1. Great muzzle energy.
  2. High strength.
  3. The "T" guns are ergonomic and very comfortable.
  4. An additional high-capacity magazine is available.
  5. Can be used in sports.

  1. Technical failures when the store is completely full.
  2. Large dimensions T10, T12 and T15. The large size of the pistol will not allow you to keep it unnoticed under light clothing.
  3. There have been cases when the barrel lost its integrity.

Pros and cons of the pistol

Of course, the pistol has not only advantages, but also objective disadvantages, about all of them below:

Pros:

  • The resource is very long, versions without barrel grooves can easily withstand 5-7 thousand shots without significant breakdowns;
  • The power of the pistol, even despite legal restrictions, is very high;
  • High accuracy of fire due to a smooth barrel with a sufficient area for acceleration and narrowing at the exit;
  • Reliability of reloading and feeding of cartridges - there are almost no misfires, under-fires or distortions;
  • Large ammunition load. Although the law limits the number of cartridges loaded into a magazine, the potential of a capacious magazine will be revealed in sports and recreational shooting.

Minuses:

  • The price of the pistol is much higher than most traumatic pistols on the market;
  • The weight and dimensions are not very suitable for everyday carry, despite the title of a compact pistol, it is quite large and heavy;
  • Poor build quality of the ZiD and F series, high risk of running into defects when buying second hand.
