During World War II, London was hit by Nazi Germany with its devastating bombing campaigns known as the London Blitz. From September 1940 to May 1941, the Nazis bombed the city for 57 consecutive nights, after which London literally drowned in ruins. A series of photographs from the TopFoto historical archive, taken in 1950, shows the everyday life of Londoners 5 years after the end of the Second World War, and the process of restoration of large-scale destruction.
