History of creation
The development of Desert Eagle began in the late 70s at the American private corporation Magnum Research. The main goal of the company was the invention of sports and hunting self-loading weapons, which should use some of the most powerful cartridges for .357 Magnum caliber revolvers.
The Deagle was intended to compete with similar caliber revolvers used in long-range sport shooting and as a hunting weapon. Revolvers needed a long reload; a self-loading pistol was supposed to solve this problem.
The designers invented a fundamentally new operating scheme and created weapons almost from scratch. The first prototypes of the Desert Eagle, produced in 1983, needed improvement, so to improve the design, the company began to cooperate with the Israeli military state corporation, Israel Military Industries.
In 1985, having undergone final modifications in Israel, the new weapon entered mass production. At that time, the Desert Eagle was far superior to all existing self-loading pistols and most revolvers of the same caliber, so it immediately became popular.
The first 1000 copies of the Desert Eagle are rare, as the barrels are specially rifled and cannot be converted to use other calibers. At first, aluminum was used in production, but later it was replaced with durable weapons-grade steel.

Desert Eagle device
Desert Eagle .50AE WE Cybergun.
They did it! In order to fire a shot, you first need to remove the safety from the weapon. When the trigger is pressed, the automatic firing mechanism is activated, the trigger strikes the firing pin, after which a shot occurs.
Meanwhile, powder gases under pressure escape through the gas outlet channel into a special chamber and push the bolt frame back. After this, the trigger is automatically cocked, preparing the weapon for the next shot. At the same time, the cartridge feeder pushes the next ammunition out of the magazine, which the bolt face automatically sends into the chamber.
The flag on the trigger mechanism is blocked using a double-sided safety lock. It has an unusual shape and is located quite high. To move it to the lower position, some skill is required.
The Desert Eagle has a very soft bolt, but it makes a loud clunking sound when it is reset. The trigger has a soft and precise action, its force is about 3.5 kg.
About the wind version
The combat “Desert Eagle” served as the basis for the creation of a 4.5 mm air pistol. Shooting is carried out with lead bullets. The projectile flies out of the barrel channel at a speed of 130 m/s. The pneumatic Desert Eagle is equipped with a 12-gram CO2 cylinder. The rifle unit has a power of up to 3.5 J. The barrels are made of metal, the bodies are made of plastic and metal alloys. The drum type clip contains up to 8 bullets. The total length of the pistol is 27.5 cm, the rifled barrel is 14.5 cm. A Blow Back scheme is provided for the pneumatic gun. The product uses a double-action trigger mechanism. To fire a shot, you must first cock the trigger. You can also shoot from self-cocking. You can purchase blowguns for 900 rudds. The “Desert Eagle” is equipped with a plastic case, instructions in Russian, a Picatinny rail, a spare drum and a special key for working with the priming screw.
Features of the Desert Eagle pistol
The gas outlet tube, not previously used in pistols, makes the barrel of the weapon very massive. The need to move the bolt frame forced engineers to develop a rather long barrel.
The weapon is considered lethal in its power. The Desert Eagle is on par with professional sniper rifles. The large cartridge provides such bullet speed that it is capable of penetrating some personal protective equipment and hitting the target right through.
The traumatic pistol is equipped with an unusual barrel - it is very thick and has a well-defined breech. The barrel is also combined with a gas chamber located under the muzzle. This placement makes it possible to save energy from the powder gases until the bullet exits the channel.
The barrel is locked using bolt cylinders, thanks to this design the Desert Eagle is similar to the mechanism of the M16 automatic rifle and the Russian AK.
Desert Eagle is unique - it has practically no analogues, only some models of automatic pistols that use large revolver ammunition compete with it.
Dimensions
Huge pistol Desert Eagle Mark XIX (“Desert Eagle”)
The size of the Desert Eagle is impressive - it looks very massive and menacing. In addition to the fact that the pistol is very long and heavy, it has a huge handle that does not allow you to fully grasp it with one hand. Large controls make the weapon even more uncomfortable and impractical to carry. It is also inconvenient in urban firefights. Such a large pistol is problematic not only to carry concealed, but also to remove from the holster.
Balance
The Desert Eagle has a massive 6-inch barrel and is under-balanced if it does not have an ammo magazine. Without a loaded clip, the heavy barrel weighs down and makes it difficult to aim the pistol.
You can level the balance by installing a full magazine with cartridges and sending the ammunition into the chamber. Professional shooters will have no problem shooting the Desert Eagle while holding it with only one hand, although the weapon was originally designed to fire while holding the pistol with both hands.
Reliability
The gun consists of 48 parts, many of them are extremely sensitive to dirt, so the weapon requires constant care. It has never been subjected to rigorous testing under harsh operating conditions. This is explained by the fact that it was originally developed as a hunting weapon, as well as for self-defense against wild animals. The engineers’ task was not to use it in law enforcement agencies.
Recoil
How to play with a deagle
- Despite its power, don't be tempted to buy Deagle in the first round. Only very experienced players or desperate gamers can afford such chaos. The reason is that you have money restrictions ($800). And if you purchase Eagle, you will play without armor. With a balance of $100, you won’t be able to purchase even the cheapest grenade.
- Due to the large scatter, do not try to “spray out of fear.” The bullets will fly very crookedly, and there will be very little chance of killing. The most optimal interval between shots is 0.7-1.0 seconds;
- In close combat, it makes sense to increase the rate of fire, and hits to the body will lead to a good result - 2 bullets to the body are enough to destroy the enemy (regardless of whether he has armor or not);
- At long distances, it makes sense to shoot with any type of weapon. Since your risk can be ideally justified in case of an accurate hit to the head;
- The desert eagle has very strong penetration ability. Therefore, always try to punch your opponent through thin cover or wooden walls;
- Never run while shooting. Also, don't jump. After running or jumping, the accuracy of the shot remains stuck for a split second; Here's the moment:
- It makes sense to reload desert as often as possible. Whenever possible, when it is safe to do so, try to replace the magazine with a full one. Since it is not clear how quickly 7 rounds of ammunition can run out;
- If the enemy has such a beast, then try not to stand in standard positions. Since your opponent may simply accidentally shoot at her, trying to predict such a moment;
- Always approach the enemy who has the Eagle in his hands. And even better with a fast-firing automatic weapon;
- Try to constantly move against enemy shots. Due to the long cooldown, he will constantly have to target you. This will give you the advantage of killing him early;
- You don’t need to go to a fortune teller, but we definitely recommend learning and training Deagle. And even more necessary are accurate headshots. The first hit on the target is the most effective thing this device has!
- In cases where your health is less than 60%, you go out to the enemy with such a pistol. It will be enough for him to get 1 bullet in the belly, and in the best case, your game will continue right into the next round;
- Due to the wide variation, looking at a map of what it looks like doesn't make much sense. But still, we will show what this unpredictable logic looks like:
This pistol has no competitors in the game. It is significantly different from other pistols.
Video review of Desert Eagle 50 AE vs Watermelons
.50 AE Desert Eagle vs Watermelons
One of the main problems when firing the Desert Eagle is its extremely strong recoil, even when holding the weapon with two hands. In addition to the powerful recoil, when firing, the pistol bounces and makes a deafeningly loud sound, so it is advisable to shoot with headphones, especially in an indoor shooting range.
Powerful recoil leads to compression of the joints of the hand, so after the shot there is a rotation that moves the weapon to the side. When using large ammunition, this effect is much more pronounced. If the shooter has weak arm muscles or does not grip the handle tightly enough, the weapon may hit the shooter in the face after firing during recoil.
If you choose the right handle so that it is as comfortable as possible for the shooter, powerful recoil can be avoided. To reduce recoil, you can equip the pistol with additional means, for example, install a muzzle brake or subject the barrel to special treatment.
Ammunition used
The presence of a gas venting mechanism requires the shooter to use copper-clad cartridges. Thanks to such bullets, the weapon becomes more powerful. If lead bullets are used in Desert Eagle, then the high muzzle energy when fired from a pistol will cause the soft lead to melt. When rubbing against the walls of the barrel, the soft metal will leave small particles that will lead to contamination of the gas tube.
The Desert Eagle can be converted and used for multiple calibers of ammunition. To shoot with a different caliber, you need to change the barrel, bolt and magazine in the pistol; this can be done even in the field.
The .357 Magnum cartridge type is used in a barrel with an internal bore diameter of 9.0 mm. The magazine contains 9 cartridges arranged in one row.
The .41 Magnum caliber fits a 10.4mm bore and the magazine holds 8 rounds. Cartridges of .44 Magnum caliber are used in an 11.1 mm barrel; their quantity in one magazine is 8 pieces.
The .440 Cor-bon cartridge type is also used in a pistol with an internal bore diameter of 11.1 mm; one magazine contains 7 ammunition of this type. .50 Action Express 12 7x33 mm cartridges are used in pistols where one magazine holds 7 rounds. Interesting fact: cartridges of this caliber are used in tank and aircraft machine guns.
The single-row magazine has a simple design - it has a powerful large spring, and on the left side there are small holes that act as a cartridge fill indicator. Due to the fact that the pistol uses large-caliber cartridges, the magazine can only hold 7 to 9 rounds of ammunition.
Price
The Desert Eagle is more expensive than pistols and revolvers using large calibers. The cost of a basic Desert Eagle modification averages $1,750; additional components and customization for the shooter will cost another $200–500.
The high cost of the pistol is due to the complex production process. The parts are cut out on automatic machines with almost no human intervention, after which the designers assemble the gun by hand and then carry out quality control.
[edit] IRL
I DETECT FAIL Glamorous Deagle.
Only for the coolest. Reality is traditionally cooler than counterstrike ideas. This miracle of engineering weighs almost two kilograms. Many of the headphones at the shooting range do not protect you from having your brain blown out through your ears by the sound of a shot, and the lucky owners of a full-sized .50 are at a minimum sent to a rifle stand, and at most kicked out - to avoid it.
The phrase about hippos was also not accidental - this pistol was developed specifically as a hunting or sporting pistol, and was used by the special services only for the sake of the lulz. However, there is an opinion that:
- After the shootings in Miami, where two FBI agents died because half a dozen of them were stuck in a Mini-14 with six-shooter revolvers (and one managed to drop it along with his glasses), the question arose about the need to reload the service .357 caliber as quickly as possible .
- Another opinion: in fact, the Americans were supplied with the Jericho 941 - a pistol similar in appearance, but fundamentally different in functionality with characteristics suitable for a 15-round nine-millimeter shotgun, which was freely sold under the trademarks Uzi Eagle, Baby Eagle and Desert Eagle.
From the original Desert Eagle under .50 AE, only the truly stubborn will shoot at people.
Thick bullets with a low initial velocity are terrible at penetrating any obstacles, so the enemy can calmly sit behind an iron trash can (full of course) and not worry. The ballistics of a 12.7 mm bullet with a case smaller than that of intermediate (not to mention rifle) bullets leaves much to be desired. Of course, staying on your feet after being hit by such a bullet is problematic, since a powerful blow may well knock down an average person, but this will not prevent him from standing up after some time (if he does not immediately enter the torpid phase of shock after being hit - blood loss from 2000 joules to the body considerable) and possibly bring some problems.
Naturally, it doesn’t pierce the carcass of an animal, but it shouldn’t
: all for the sake of a high stopping effect, so that the lion/boar/bear/hippopotamus/nigra rushing towards the hunter is guaranteed to receive all the good energy from the bullet and, as a result, is no less guaranteed to take a horizontally motionless position (whether he will be alive or dead after the shot - second question). In particular, a headshot, even if it does not penetrate a skull or a helmet, can easily break the cervical vertebrae. The truth is that in this case it prevents you from taking a shotgun remains a topic for sracha.
- In the same “Miami shootout” there was almost a failure: the only operator with a shotgun got oily in his limbs and therefore, by distorting the pump, he was able to shoot very slowly and inaccurately from the trunk. The robber, battered by bullets (including one to the head), shamelessly approached him and... a lulz happened: the battered robber was no longer able to hit him at point-blank range three times in a row.
In addition, the Deagle weighs enough for a pistol (for it is a gas-operated automatic, automatic-style), and the ammunition capacity is no more than 9 rounds (and .50 - 7 pieces). And the absence of armor-piercing cartridges in mass production seems to hint. That is, no special agents and counter-terrorists (and terrorists too, by the way) in their right mind use it anywhere. Only Hollywood, toys, gangsters and American rednecks. So the weapons of James Bond still remain all sorts of Beretta 418 .25 or Walter PPK.
However, not everything is so sad. The pistol is, of course, much heavier than any other, but even without being a regular visitor to the rocking chair, holding it is not that difficult. The sight is quite stable on the target. Thanks to the good trigger mechanism, hitting the target is not difficult. The recoil, of course, is incomparable with conventional 9-mm pistols, but it doesn’t knock you off your feet and the pistol doesn’t hit you in the forehead (there’s only one video of a barrel hitting the forehead on YouTube, where you can also find dozens of videos about how frail girls and even children shot without any consequences - the main thing is to know what to expect from this colossus (aka first shoot with both 9mm and .45, and carefully try the .454 kazyulka, and only then taste the 2500 joules of recoil of the Action Xpress). That is, unlike the .700 Nitro Express rifles, this weapon is quite shooter-friendly; you need to have a significant reserve of curvature in order to receive any injuries from shooting. It is quite suitable for the role of entertainment, provided the appropriate finances are available.
- But, of course, carrying it with you for self-defense is at best a show-off (at worst, imbecile). The pistol is inconvenient to hold because of the huge handle, its bolt takes a long time to pull because of its long stroke, cocking the hammer takes a long time (if the cartridge is in the barrel), because singe-action, it takes a long time to remove such a fool from a holster and, as a result, it’s simply not needed .
- Amer bandits, rednecks and all sorts of bulls love the deagle for one simple reason: he’s scary. Big, angular, charismatic and makes you shit out bricks when you look down the barrel, without firing a single shot. In general, the reason is the same for which our domestic bull loved the Mauser back in the day.
- There is an adequate niche for a 7-rounder, and even equipped with a scope and butt, “Digla”: ranchers
. They drive around the field in jeeps. This pistol allows you to shoot cabbage soup from the seat, both at bears and buffaloes similar in size, and to remain quite convenient in reloading (replaceable magazine) and cocking the trigger (automatic, desu) with a quick-draw weapon (from under the arm/from the belt/ pull out from a special car holster)
Tactical and technical characteristics of the Desert Eagle pistol
Cooled pistol Retay Eagle X (Desert Eagle, black) video review
Tactical and technical characteristics (TTX) largely depend on the specific caliber.
The Desert Eagle is almost 27 cm long, its barrel is 15.2 cm, its weapon height is 16 cm, and its width is 3.3 cm. The Desert Eagle Mark XIX has an overall length of up to 37.4 cm, and its barrel length is 25 .4 cm. The weight of an aluminum pistol is 1.7 kg, a steel one – up to 2 kg.
The speed of a bullet fired from a pistol is 580 meters per second. The maximum muzzle energy achieved by a bullet fired from a 50 A.E. Desert Eagle. is about 1.5 kJ. For comparison, this shot is more powerful than six shots from a Makarov Pistol.
About sizes
Since the pistol, which uses the shortest 6-inch barrel in the line, is up to 26 cm long, it is impractical to use it in urban conditions. Since such a fairly large weapon is inconvenient to carry and remove, there is no demand for this pistol in security structures and among the military. However, the Desert Eagle is very effective as a specialized weapon for outdoor use. This firearm is used to hunt and also repel attacks by wild animals. Due to the fact that the shooting is carried out with ammunition that is too large, weapon designers were forced to increase the handle. As a result, the Desert Eagle is only suitable for those shooters with large palms. Otherwise, not only shooting, but also holding the gun will be problematic.
The procedure for partial disassembly and assembly of the Desert Eagle pistol
Partial disassembly of the weapon is carried out in order to clean, lubricate and inspect the pistol.
To partially disassemble the Desert Eagle, you must perform the following steps:
- Point the barrel to a safe place and remove the magazine by pressing the magazine release button.
- Pull the bolt all the way back and make sure there is no cartridge in the chamber.
- Rotate the barrel delay guide sleeve and disconnect it from the gun.
- Move the bolt carrier and barrel forward and remove them from the guides.
- Disconnect the bolt frame from the barrel.
- Disconnect the gas outlet piston from the barrel, and remove the return springs from the frame.
To reassemble the weapon, all steps must be performed in reverse order.

Models and modifications of the Desert Eagle pistol
The new Desert Eagle is amazing, and here's why... |
Wrecking Ranch | The translation of the Zebra Desert Eagle is classified by caliber and generation, most of the modifications have only changes in design, but the design and moving mechanisms in them remain almost the same.
Since the creation of the Desert Eagle, three modifications of this weapon have been made.
The Mark I is no longer produced, it was the first pistol in the Desert Eagle line, it was made from aluminum and steel alloys. It was produced in .357 and .44 Magnum calibers.
The Mark VII has visual similarities to the Mark I, but was distinguished by the presence of a Weaver rail or so-called "dovetail", which is a mount for an optical sight or laser pointer. This model had barrel lengths of 15, 20, 25 and 35.5 cm, it used .357, .44 and .41 Magnum cartridges, and later began to be produced in .50 A.E. caliber. At this time, production of .41 Magnum ammunition has been discontinued.
Mark XIX has modifications for .357 and .44 Magnum cartridges, as well as .50 A.E, the model is available with 15 and 25 cm barrels. This generation also used .440 Cor-bon cartridges, but currently this modification, like ammunition, were discontinued.
Some companies produce cooled pistols (desert eagle SHP), the design of which is based on the Desert Eagle. Desert Eagle SHP is designed to simulate a shot with special ammunition - blank cartridges.
[edit] .50 "pistol" for war
At some point they tried to attach a pistol cartridge 12.7x33 (.50 AE) to the M-16. It turned out that:
- A .50 bullet does a good job of hitting a car engine
- The bullet does not pierce the engine, but shatters into shreds inside. That is, unlike the “piercing through the engine” “Fifth Browning” or “Boyz-52” anti-tank rifle, the diglobullet simply shatters into fragments inside the engine, tearing hoses and other nonsense.
As a result, based on the “Deagle .50” (not the “sniper” 12.7x107 from Browning, but the “pistol”!), under the Emka platform (under the same butt-handle-other ergonomics), the “.50 Beowulf” was cut down (after all longer than .50 AE: 42mm vs. 33mm).
Reviews from Desert Eagle owners
“Great gun, powerful and looks very cool, but in real life it is much more difficult to control a gun than in CS!!! When shooting from a Desert Eagle, no matter how you train, one of the cartridges will fly into your forehead! Therefore, to avoid contact with eyes, you must follow safety precautions and be sure to wear safety glasses.”
“Desert Eagle is very sensitive to the quality of the cartridges; when using ammunition with steel cases, there were sometimes delays, but when using ammunition with copper cartridges, this did not occur. And if you shoot cartridges with aluminum casings, you can spend the whole day cleaning the barrel.”
“Due to the “automatic” design in the Desert Eagle pistol, an unfired cartridge cannot be fired again by pulling the trigger - this requires cocking the hammer or reloading the weapon, and this takes time.”
Interesting facts about Deagle
- The deagle was slightly strengthened during updates in 2015. But in general, initially, starting from 1999, it practically did not change its technical characteristics;
- Due to the fact that gamers simply adore him, Desert Eagle has a lot of titles (not all of them):
- Deagle;
- Desert;
- Second WUA;
- Eagle;
- Hammer;
- Eagle.
- The game has various achievements, such as “Desert Eagle Expert”, which is available to almost 18% of game owners. This is by far the largest figure;
- Deagle has had over 5 reload animations throughout history;
- The maximum number of people you can kill in a row (to the head) is 3. The fourth one is also hit, but it will not be to death.

Use of the Desert Eagle pistol
In America, hunting with “one-handed weapons” is popular - large revolvers were used for this. Desert Eagle has also become popular for these purposes.
Large-caliber .50 Action Express cartridges were developed specifically for this pistol. The Desert Eagle is a legal firearm for use in sport shooting, hunting or self-defense in some Western countries, as well as in the United States.
Use in the military
Since the Desert Eagle was developed for the civilian market, there are many reasons why it is not used by law enforcement agencies. Such a large weapon is too long and not convenient for maneuvering. Due to its heavy weight, it is difficult to carry and take out in an emergency situation, when a human life depends on the fastest shot fired.
The large tongue of flame escaping from the barrel when fired quickly reveals the shooter's position. In addition, when shooting at dusk, the person firing the shot himself becomes temporarily blinded.
A loaded pistol weighs 2 kg; even a trained person finds it difficult to hold such a heavy weapon at arm's length and still conduct aimed fire. In order to adjust the handle to the hand of each shooter, additional funds will be needed, and, given the high cost of the Desert Eagle, it is simply not profitable to purchase such pistols.
Powerful recoil is also one of the reasons why this weapon, despite its lethal power, has not become widespread among law enforcement agencies. When shooting large cartridges, due to recoil, it is necessary to take long breaks.
Otherwise, during active shooting, the barrel will involuntarily rise in different directions and accurate shooting will not be possible. Also, the shooter will be deafened by the noise from shots, since it is safe to shoot from this pistol only with headphones.
Due to the small number of cartridges in the magazine - from 7 to 9 pieces, the Desert Eagle needs to be reloaded often; for example, Glock pistols have a magazine capacity of 15 to 33 rounds.

Popularity of the Desert Eagle pistol
DESERT EAGLE IS THE COOLEST PISTOL IN THE WORLD.
OVERVIEW OF CHARACTERISTICS The spectacular appearance of the pistol and its power have made the Desert Eagle the main weapon of heroes in films and games.
In games
The pistol is very popular in computer games of the shooter genre - it breaks through walls and effectively blows off the heads of enemies, but in order to become a master of Desert Eagle shooting, training is required. These weapons are used in the games Counter-Strike, Standoff, PUBG, Half-Life, STALKER and many others.
Benefits of Deagle
- Damage is the biggest advantage of this pistol . With only 2 bullets hitting the body, they completely stop the enemy. Even if you accidentally hit the smoke with one bullet, your allies can finish off the enemy even with a grenade;
- Strong damage is removed regardless of the presence of armor. Thus, the Deagle is the most penetrating pistol in the game ;
- A headshot kill works in all cases except breaking through a wall. Even if the enemy has a helmet, it will not save him in the event of a direct hit to the head from Desert;
Translation of Deasert Eagle - Desert Eagle!
- The bullet flies exactly to the target if you do not create unnecessary strafes (movements on the sides), or forward and backward. The main thing is to aim accurately.
