Ultra-long-range sniper rifle Lobaev Arms DXL-4 “SEVASTOPOL”

We have developed a new version of the DXL rifle to solve tasks at ultra-long distances: counter-sniper, sporting, hunting.

Just imagine: ease of hits within 2 km and at the same time recoil comparable to 223 Rem. Don't believe it? But that's all about her - DXL-4 SEVASTOPOL.

With it you don't have to be afraid of recoil. You don’t even have to think about the same perception of recoil. You can just focus on more important things like reading the wind and just enjoying a good two-plus shot.

The DXL is a high-precision rifle that ideally fills the niche between the SVLK-14 and TSVL. While it has the advantages of a classic design, it is still made from aluminum, preferred by many shooters. So we're confident we've gotten the best out of the two layouts. This Lobaev rifle demonstrates more than decent accuracy, an indecently long range, and at the same time is designed for the most severe operating conditions.

For those who like to shoot at record distances, there is a single-shot version of the DXL-4 S: with a standard right-hand port, a micro-port, or a double port.

The stock is foldable for portability when selecting long barrel lengths and is significantly reinforced to fire the most powerful .408 Cheytac cartridges.

A LOBAEV Hummer Barrels match barrel completes the picture. The base contour is also highly recommended, but with regards to barrel length, given the DX-3's design, things are less strict.

SVLK-14S (SVLK-14S)

This rifle is a development of the basic model SVL (Lobaev Sniper Rifle) of 2009, which continues to demonstrate record performance at ranges of more than 2000 meters.

The basis of this model is the well-known King v.3 bolt group, manufactured to tolerances much stricter than is customary in the industry. The receiver body is made of aircraft aluminum with a threaded insert made of high-alloy corrosion-resistant steel.

The shutter is also made of solid, corrosion-resistant steel. The SVL model K-14 S was deliberately left in a single-shot version to ensure the required rigidity of the receiver required for ultra-long-range shooting, as well as modularity and interchangeability of calibers (bolts with cylinders: CheyTac, Supermagnum, Magnum).

The new model has a reinforced, compared to previous versions, multi-layer “sandwich” made of carbon fiber, Kevlar and fiberglass, and, unlike previous versions of the stock, it is specifically designed for use with such powerful ammunition as CheyTac.

Also, to further strengthen the structure, a long aluminum chassis of a certain shape is integrated into the stock. The cheek mechanism has been changed to a more shooter-friendly option.

The “match” (designed for high-precision long-distance shooting) LOBAEV stainless steel barrel completes the picture.

“Smear” a sniper from 2 km: the DXL-4 rifle will leave no chance for the enemy

Private weapons production capable of creating high-quality, efficient and high-precision systems without multimillion-dollar injections of public money in Russia can be counted on one hand. There are even fewer of them who produce not only weapons that shoot with class-average characteristics, but also truly outstanding examples. The rifles assembled at Vladislav Lobaev’s private arms production facility in the Kaluga region have long gone beyond the scope of conventional sniper weapons. As they say in such cases: “The company does not knit brooms.” Modern high-precision sniper systems produced by Lobaev Arms have long ceased to resemble combined arms weapons.

To an uninitiated person in the intricacies of sniper weapons, a quick glance in a fashionable “bolt shirt” painted in summer greenish camouflage may recognize some newfangled “Remington” or “Intervention”, but the engraving “Lobaev Arms” makes it clear that this product is made in Russia .

DXL-2 HARASSER

Impressions of high cost and quality, attention to detail - this is what you feel when you hold one of the most modern rifles from Lobaev’s company - the DXL-2. Most professional snipers, athletes and benchrest connoisseurs unanimously say that the Lobaev rifle on an aluminum frame is one of the best that money can buy.

What makes the rifle unique from a technical standpoint are traditionally minimal tolerances, which are not just laws but the philosophy of the Russian gunsmith’s company. Technical accuracy of 0.35 MOA at 100 meters with a five-shot group is an incredible result.

The caliber in which the DXL-2 is made is still one of the most successful in the line of sniper ammunition. 308 Winchester (or in Russian 7.62x51 mm) is one of the most stable ammunition for shooting at a distance of just over a thousand meters. In terms of characteristics, such ammunition can be compared with domestic 7.62x54 mm, however, only in a high-quality rifle with well-cut bores can such ammunition reveal its full potential.

Although serious ammunition will doom the rifle to severe recoil, the DXL-2 does not have this problem. Subjectively, design solutions and individual design elements are worked out in the Russian rifle in such a way that when firing you feel the recoil no more than when shooting from some “small gun”. Unless the sound of a shot hints that in your hands is not a children’s craft for shooting sparrows, but a serious sniper rifle that can be used by a sniper from the FSB special forces.

In the course of a painstaking study of competitors, you gradually come to the conclusion that foreign competitors like the widely advertised Steyr SSG 08 for the same ammunition and its declared accuracy - less than one arc minute, look pale and inconspicuous against the background of the Russian rifle. However, apparently, the graceful beauty with a longitudinally sliding bolt is not all that the private Russian company is going to present.

The development team plans to release a “heavier” version, which will be more like a small howitzer capable of knocking down a dinosaur, because the ammunition that Vladislav Lobaev’s team plans to use for it is nothing more than the .408 CheyTac cartridge, which (albeit from another rifle) a little earlier a world record was set in firing range - 3440 meters.

DVL-10 SABOTEUR (“SABOTER”)

Perhaps the most unusual rifle I have ever seen. The domestic school of sniper weapon design, which once gave the army the legendary SVD, the large-caliber 6S8 Kord, is not at all visible in rifles built without a drop of government support. Smooth lines, convenience, versatility, an abundance of fastenings, straps - all this makes the rifle a modern and technically sophisticated product.

It took quite a long time to figure out what class this weapon belonged to. Doubts and thoughts were dispelled by the founder of the company, Vladislav Lobaev: “By and large, the DVL-10 can be effectively used both in police special forces units and as the main sniper rifle of an army unit. There’s something for everyone’s needs,” the Russian gunsmith tells Zvezda in an exclusive interview.

The totality of qualities, according to Vladislav, is quite enough for shooting in any conditions: in mountainous and wooded areas, in the city... and anywhere where it is necessary to accurately place a 308 caliber bullet at a distance of a thousand meters. The accuracy of the DVL-10 rifle is traditional for rifles produced in Tarusa - 0.4 MOA at a distance of 100 meters with a group of five shots (12mm between centers). The picture of impressions from the rifle, light and compact by the standards of sniper weapons, is completed by a 10-round magazine, with which you can conduct high-precision shooting for quite a long time.

ADULT TOYS

Sniping is different from sniping. Suppressing bandits in an urban environment is not at all the same thing as counter-sniping. The realities of modern warfare have long shown the need to use counter-sniper groups - specially trained shooters whose goal is to exterminate enemy sniper pairs. Everyone agrees that such people are needed. The main controversy arises around which rifle should be used for this.

For counter-sniper shooting, the armies of Western countries use rifles of completely different calibers - from 308 to 50BMG caliber (12.7x99mm). However, those whose idol was and remains Colonel Jeff Cooper, the mentor of the Western school of combat shooters, know that each specific task requires its own rifle. The Russian philosophy of counter-sniper shooting is represented by the DXL-4 rifle chambered for 408 Cheytac (10.3x77mm).

Massive ammunition that rattles when fired can completely smear an enemy sniper at distances of up to two and a half thousand meters inclusive. The radius of destruction from such a rifle cannot be described verbally, and it is difficult to explain exactly how a rifle with an accuracy of 0.45 MOA shoots when the target is barely visible through the optics. Skepticism about the new product from Lobaev dissipates when Nicholas Smith, an American competitive shooter, a former US NAVY SEAL sniper, and now a precision shooting instructor, joins the conversation about high-precision systems.

It turns out that private domestic sniper systems in the West are watched no worse than domestic fans of sniper weapons watch new products “from there”:

“When a friend called me and said that the Russians shoot the farthest in the world, and from a rifle assembled by a private company, I thought it was some kind of nonsense. Then I looked at the report and realized that this guy from a city whose name I can’t even pronounce managed to achieve a phenomenal level of shooting both in terms of range and quality. After reading about what exactly they do, I realized that the Russians are serious players in the global sniper weapons market,” the veteran American sniper said in an interview with Zvezda.

The rifle developed by Lobaev’s team is not just a weapon that shoots far and accurately. In addition to accuracy, the DXL-4 has a range of operating temperatures that most manufacturers of sniper weapons do not have. Such a rifle can operate from -45 degrees to +65 degrees Celsius, which means that a Russian army sniper (at whom such rifles are mainly aimed) can quite calmly shoot from such a rifle somewhere in the Arctic, without thinking about it. that she is even theoretically capable of letting him down.

It is precisely this kind of rifle, according to many army snipers, that the Russian army lacked for a long time. World-class rifles with the “Lobaev Arms” label have finally made it clear that the era of total superiority of Western sniper weapons is irrevocably gone, and Russian army sniping has its own hero and its own “Tsar Rifle.”

TSVL-8 (TSVL-8)

TSVL is an abbreviation of the name “Lobaev Tactical Sniper Rifle” in Latin.

This model also uses a LOBAEV stainless steel match barrel, and the developer recommends choosing basic contour barrels for this model.

The new bolt group of this model rests on a small aluminum chassis and compound, improving the vibration-damping properties of the weapon.

For this rifle, a new magazine bolt group was developed - COUNT. This is a smaller version of the DUKE bolt group and is also part of the family of bolt groups whose development began with the Tsar Cannon.

For reasons of greater portability, this model is equipped with a folding buttstock, adjustable in length and cheek height.

Basic equipment:

TSVL-10 (TSVL-10)

This new tactical high-precision large-caliber sniper rifle is an independent model of the TSVL branch. As in the model discussed above, the weapon box is placed on a micro-chassis through a compound to ensure maximum shooting accuracy.

The rifle was developed on the new COUNT magazine group, equipped with a LOBAEV Hummer Barrels made of stainless steel and a folding stock. For this model, the developer-manufacturer recommends basic contour barrels.

Sport

In 2015, Vladislav Lobaev set a record for firing range at 3200m.
To set the record, the Lobaev Arms SVLK-14 Twilight rifle in caliber 408 Cheytac was used. On October 3, 2022, a world record for accurate shot range was set with the SVLK-14 “Twilight” rifle. At a distance of 4210 meters, Russian shooter Andrei Ryabinsky hit a square target measuring 1x1 meter.

On November 26, 2022, Russian Sergei Shmakov set a new world record for the longest night shot. The shooter placed a group of five shots at a target measuring 60x60 cm. The range to the target was 2000 meters. Passive night optics (without illumination) were used.

To set the record, a completely Russian shooting complex was used, consisting of the SVLK-14 “Twilight” sniper rifle from Lobaev Arms and a night sight. The SVLK-14 "Twilight" rifle was chambered in .408 CheyTac (10.3 mm).

DXL-3

A high-precision rifle on an aluminum chassis, designed for the most severe operating conditions, which, according to the developer, ideally fills the niche between the three above-mentioned models.

Boasting the benefits of a classic design (stiffness and bedding compound), it is built on an aluminum chassis preferred by many shooters. The developer is confident that in this way the best of the two layouts is extracted.

The rifle bolt locks the barrel bore with three lugs; the angle of rotation required for reloading is 60 degrees. The release without warning is adjustable in three parameters, while the release force can be adjusted from 0.5 to 1.5 kg.

The already mentioned above, free-floating match barrel Lobaev Hummer Barrels with six fullers made of corrosion-resistant steel AISI 416T is also used in this model, and the contour of the basic configuration is also recommended, but in terms of barrel length, given the design of the DXL-3, everything is less strict.

Optionally, the manufacturer offers an interesting accessory - a proprietary muzzle brake-compensator C-Tuner. It is multi-chambered, has a flattened cylindrical shape and, for the purpose of fine-tuning the combat of the weapon, allows for fixation on the barrel at any angle.

DTK C-Tuner

The loads that arise during a shot are absorbed by a rigid stock, made in the form of a single piece of extruded aluminum alloy; it can be equipped with light carbon overlays to improve the tactile qualities of the stock in cold or summer heat.

A Picatinny rail is integrated on top of the aluminum chassis for mounting optical sights, thermal imagers and other optical equipment. There are also small strips installed at the bottom and sides of the forend for attaching bipods, swivels and other tactical equipment. There is also a separate unit for attaching a Harris bipod.

The aircraft grade aluminum stock is foldable for portability when choosing a long barrel length. The shape of the butt is designed taking into account its comfortable and reliable holding by the shooter's left hand. The spring-loaded cheekbones can be quickly and easily adjusted in height in the most natural way possible, without rotating the adjusting screws: to do this, just release the stopper and use the pressure of your own cheekbone to set a comfortable height.

The butt plate of the butt is also adjustable; an additional Picatinny rail on its lower edge allows you to install a third bipod or a special benchrest rest.

It should be noted that in this model the developer abandoned the traditional design of a quick-folding buttstock on a hinge, since given the large caliber of the weapon, such a connection would not provide the necessary rigidity of fixation and would “loose” over time. Instead, a hex screw fixation method is used: this method takes longer, but is much more reliable.

Basic equipment:

• Caliber — .338 Lapua Magnum • Barrel contour — HG • Barrel length — 740mm • Fullers — 6 • Muzzle brake — T-tuner • PBS — no • NV/TV mount — STD Picatinny • Sight mount — STD Picatinny

DXL-2

For smaller caliber cartridges, the design bureau developed a model of the DXL-2 high-precision sniper rifle. The structure is made of aircraft aluminum while maintaining the advantages of the classic design - a bedding compound while maintaining the necessary rigidity.

Sniper rifle DXL-2

Compared to the DXL-3, this model integrates the proprietary DUKESS bolt group, shortened by 30 mm. The butt of the rifle is folding, which increases its portability.

DXL-4 / DXL-4 S

This model is a large-caliber version of the DXL series models discussed above; it is the latest development of 2015. Designed to successfully solve combat (and not only combat) missions at long and ultra-long distances.

The DXL-4 model is multi-shot with ammunition from a detachable box magazine for 5 rounds, the DXL-4 S is single-shot for fans of ultra-precise shooting of large-caliber ammunition at record long distances. The latter is offered to the customer in one of three options: with a standard right port, a microport or a double port.

The rifle's barrel is, of course, match LOBAEV Hummer Barrels, the contour of the basic configuration is recommended, but with regard to the barrel length everything is less strict. The stock is foldable for portability when choosing a long barrel length and is significantly reinforced for firing powerful large-caliber cartridges.

The trigger force is adjustable in the range of 0.5-1.5 kg, the bolt and port are right-handed. According to the developer, the recoil when firing from this rifle is comparable to the recoil when firing .223 Rem ammunition of a much smaller caliber.

Production history

In September 2010, the team moved to fulfill the contract to launch a plant in the UAE. The reason for the move is said to be a conflict of interests with IzhMash, but there is no confirmed information. Since 2011, Vladislav Lobaev has successfully produced his rifles in the UAE; they have already been adopted by the UAE Army.

In mid-2013, Vladislav Lobaev returned to Russia and founded the LOBAEV corporation, which includes the enterprises Lobaev Hummer Barrels and Lobaev Arms, LLC Design Bureau of Integrated Systems. Currently, the SVL model range includes 7 main models, and new models are also being developed.

SVL are produced in the city of Tarusa by a private company (owner - V. E. Lobaev) using equipment imported from the USA.

DVL-10 (DVL-10)

This model is the latest (at the time of publication of the article) development of the company; the manufacturing company announced the completion of its development and the start of production in April 2014.

It is a development of the 2009 Tsar Cannon. This lightweight, compact and silent rifle for new and existing subsonic ammunition was developed for special service tasks that require special accuracy and range.

Existing models on the market did not provide the required characteristics, primarily in terms of accuracy and firing range from silent weapons. This is how the DVL concept was born. This Lobaev rifle is implemented on a magazine bolt group - COUNT. The new bolt group rests on a small aluminum chassis and compound, improving the vibration-damping properties of the product. The rifle is equipped with a folding stock, unified with other SVL models, and is equipped with a LOBAEV match barrel made of stainless steel. Only trunks of basic special contours are used. This model is also offered in a civilian version for supersonic cartridges with the index “C”.
