Review of the Grand Power traumatic pistol

Grand Power products have been in service with law enforcement agencies in different countries for many years. It is also popular among civilians. Both combat and traumatic models are produced.

Production was initially located only in Slovakia, but over time, these weapons began to be produced in the Russian Federation. The issue of producing these weapons in other states is currently being considered.

The Grand Power traumatic pistol is represented by several types that have been modified and improved. Pistols T10, T11, T12 and T15 have taken their place in the traumatic weapons market; have the appropriate certificates.

Grand Power traumatic pistols are sold in the Russian Federation and other countries. The developer of this weapon is the Slovak company Grand Power Limited. Chief weapons engineer - Yaroslav Kuratsina.

Types of pistols of the “Grand Power” series

Among the weapons in this series it is worth highlighting:

1. Combat:

  • K100.

2. Traumatic:

  • T10;
  • T11;
  • T12;
  • T15.

The K100 is a self-loading combat pistol that has many modifications. Automation uses a short barrel stroke. It is controlled by a magazine release button, a two-way lever that allows you to turn off the safety, and two-way slide stop levers. Ammunition in the magazine is arranged in two rows; holds from 15 to 19 traumatic rounds (larger capacity magazines hold 17-19 rounds). Weight without cartridges is 740 g. The initial speed of the bullet is 350 m/s.

But! Since the review is primarily about the traumatic model of the Grand Power pistol. This will be the only mention of the K100 in this article.

T10 entered service in 2008. It works by blowback recoil. The units are made of high-strength steel, which is also used in military weapons. The plastic shell made it possible to reduce the weight - it is 700 g. There are barriers in the barrel that do not allow firing a solid object. This weapon allows you to shoot accurately from a distance of more than 10 meters, which is rare for traumatic weapons.

In the T11 , an updated model of the T10, the barrel design has no grooves (weakness), but there are pins at the entrance and exit of the antechamber. The designers changed the shape of the rear sight, and this model comes with 3 front sights. The handle is more ergonomic than in the T10 and allows for a stable and tight grip. The T11 traumatic weapon has high strength and high muzzle energy; Suitable for sport shooting. Accessories and spare parts are available for it.

T12 is a firearm of limited destruction, a traumatic pistol. It was developed in Slovakia and intended for the Russian market. Has a plastic shell. The main difference from previous models is the caliber (10×28). This weapon is an improved version of all previous versions. The technical superiority of the Grand Power T12 is ensured by a number of characteristics.

T15 was released recently and in 2017/2018. appeared on the market. It has good balancing, and firing can be carried out in two modes - single action (SA) or double action (DA). Its caliber is 45×30, and its weight is no more than 850 g (some modifications have more than 900 g). This is a fairly large weapon. Push-button magazine, 10-round. High quality manufacturing makes this injury one of the most promising on the market. This short-barreled weapon costs from 42,000 rubles.

Separately, it is worth highlighting the traumatic pistol “Grand Power” T15

Features of T15-F

What is so special about the T15-F? Firstly, since the “rainy day” for traumatic weapons (01 July 2011), when legislation regarding the muzzle energy of non-lethal weapons and countries of origin was tightened, the T15-F is the first model of the “weapon-ammunition” type. That is, not only the weapon came into circulation, but also a new type of cartridge for it, called 45*30. This is a new cartridge for the Russian market and it is not similar to existing traumatic action cartridges (PTD).

For cartridges 10*28 and 10*32 is a cartridge case for a Kalashnikov AK-74 assault rifle of 5.45*39 caliber, cut to the required length of 28 and 32 mm, respectively. The donor for the 45*30 is a 30-06 cartridge case cut to 30 mm (7.62*63 for the Springfield rifle model 1903/06). This cartridge is produced in Russia in Barnaul and Novosibirsk as a cartridge for rifled hunting weapons. The rubber ball has a diameter of 15 mm (as reflected in the name of the weapon T15-F) and is unified with the ball of the 410*45 cartridge for the Ratnik revolver.

Izhevsk-based TechKrim was the first to announce its intention to introduce a new large-caliber weapon-ammunition complex to the OOO market, announcing in 2022 a new model based on the Chinese clone of the Colt M1911A1 chambered for the new 44TK cartridge. The donor of all parts of the pistol, except the bolt, barrel and frame (the main parts of the weapon), were to be parts produced by the Chinese. The donor for the 44TK cartridge case was the 7.62*39 cartridge of the 1943 model, for which the Kalashnikov assault rifle was subsequently created. TechCrim already had experience with the 7.62*39 cartridge case, using it to create a cheap analogue to the 45 Rubber cartridge, for which the expensive .45 AUTO pistol cartridge case was used.

The release of a new product from TechCream called TK1911 under a new cartridge could have a detrimental effect on the popularity of the model from Fortuna, since the TK1911 is based on the “platform” of the 1911 - a very popular (even in Russia) Colt M1911A1 model.

"Grand Power" T15

The Grand Power T15 traumatic pistol is the latest model in the line of traumatic weapons for 2022. Having reviewed the design of its barrel, it is worth noting the large margin of safety. The barrel is practically motionless, has a large mass and is fixed with a special notch.

The operation of the trigger mechanism has two modes, differing in the force of impact during the descent and the process itself. In the first case, the hammer, cocked by manual action on the bolt, breaks after a slight force on the trigger. In the second case, the impact on the hook itself is sufficient for the shot.

Increased energy when firing allows you to successfully use the T15, despite the less high accuracy of fire that is typical for other “T” pistols. The shooting efficiency of this weapon is ensured by the large weight of the bullet, its speed characteristics and the weight of the weapon itself.

This weapon should be used strictly according to the instructions and with extreme caution, even when unloaded. The same care must be taken when cleaning it. There is no need to direct it at others unnecessarily. It is necessary to remember about the possibility of a “lingering” 30-second shot in a situation where there was a malfunction in the shooting. In self-defense, this traumatic pistol should be used as carefully as possible, without resorting to shots at the most important parts of the attacker’s body. There are recommendations to refrain from shooting from a distance of less than 1 meter in non-critical situations.

Reviews from Grand Power T12 owners

“Externally, it is no different from T10. There are certainly minor differences, but changes were constantly made to the T10 itself. In fact, the most important thing in a pistol is the cartridge. It is longer than 10x22T. Due to this, a larger rubber bullet is placed in it. Since the pistol has a lightweight frame, it does not take liberties in terms of holding the pistol weakly. An ordinary user who does not regularly shoot at a shooting range according to IDPA / IPSC rules will not notice this. He will aim for a long time, close his eyes when firing, etc. But a shooter who engages in shooting regularly knows. You have to hold this gun! And if you hold it, it will evaluate the shooter itself and put all 17 of its bullets at a distance of 7 meters in a very rapid-fire mode into the zero zone of a standard IDPA target.

The pistol's trigger is soft and short. On my Baikalych it is a little shorter, and out of habit, at first I managed to press the T12 trigger twice in one shot, but that’s how my Baikalych was configured. Shooting is very comfortable, the pistol does not tear from your hand with a normal grip. The shutter travel is soft. Somewhat reminiscent of APS, but naturally shorter. The muzzle energy of the pistol is currently on par with the best 9mm RA pistols. and 10x22T, using the most powerful cartridges." DENI

Advantages

  • High muzzle energy
  • High strength
  • Large magazine capacity
  • Excellent ergonomics
  • Modular design
  • Excellent for sport shooting according to IPSC/IPDA rules

Flaw

  • Large dimensions that do not allow carrying weapons concealed under light clothing

Main characteristics:

  • T10 - weighs 700 grams. The cartridge used is 10×22T caliber. The barrel is 108 mm long. The length of the gun is 187 mm, with a height of 133 mm and a width of 36 mm. The regular magazine holds 10 rounds, the same as other "T" models.
  • T11 - weighs 740 g. Equipped with a flag-type fuse. The barrel length is 85 mm. The length of the weapon itself is 170 mm. Height - 118 mm. Width - 36 mm.
  • T12 - has a caliber of 10x28. Pistol height - 133.5 mm, length - 188 mm, width - 36 mm. The barrel has a length of 100 mm. Without cartridges, the gun weighs 770 g. The increased-capacity magazine holds 17 rounds of ammunition.
  • T15 - weighs 850 g. The barrel is made of weapon steel and has a length of 120 mm. Main parameters: 207×138×36 mm. A detachable two-row magazine of regular and high capacity is available.

Ammo

The combat K100 uses 9x19 Parabellum. The cartridge has bullets with high stopping power.

The T10 traumatic weapon uses a 10×22T caliber. The T10 can be used with 9mm Pistole Automatik cartridges to increase muzzle energy.

The T12 pistol uses 10×28 caliber. It replaced 10x22T ammunition, which, due to its insufficient length, caused problems with under-feeding into the chamber. The introduction of the 10×28 cartridge into operation increased the efficiency of firing from this weapon in self-defense and the reliability of its operation.

The same cartridges (10×28) can be used with T11.

The T15 is used with the new 45x30 cartridges. They have more mass than previous samples. The ball will lose less energy when shooting at long or relatively long distances. The speed of a bullet is below the speed of sound.

Assembly/disassembly

The disassembly procedure is similar to the sequence of disassembling a Makarov combat pistol. It is necessary for cleaning the gun and tuning. First, the magazine is released using a latch. After this, the fuse is deactivated. Next, the presence of ammunition in the chamber is checked. Disassembly continues only with an empty chamber. Then the trigger rod is pulled back, and after that the casing-jam moves to the rear position. While in this position it must be removed; To do this, you need to pull on the back. Thus, the casing-jam is removed from the guides. Next, it is moved to the extreme forward position and removed from the barrel. After this, the return spring is removed. Incomplete disassembly ends here.

The assembly is carried out using the reverse algorithm.

Repair

There have been cases of rupture of the barrel of this traumatic weapon. This happens due to underfilling or jamming of cartridges. If the bullet gets stuck, the barrel may rupture upon contact with the next ball.

Traumatic pistols of the “T” series have a warranty period. If a malfunction occurs and passport cartridges are used, the pistol must be repaired at the expense of the manufacturer.

If a defect is discovered in a traumatic pistol, the buyer has the right to choose who to contact - the seller or the manufacturer. He may demand that the product be repaired, get a new gun instead, or demand a refund for it.

Slovak Texas

Every time I talk about the Grand Power T15-F, I remember the words of V. Melnikov (Odilisk), who compared this pistol with the legendary Colt 1911. This pistol really has charisma: you look at it and understand - wow, wow it's a "gun"!

At the moment, the T15-F has taken its strong place in the market: despite the exclamations of fans of the 9 r.a. about the ineffectiveness of the .45x30 cartridge, people buy this big gun. Perhaps this is because in its “philosophy” the Grand Power T15-F is somewhat similar to the legendary OSA pistol - to stop an attack with minimal damage to the aggressor. Look at the ammo size for the Grand Power T15-F. I just want to ask: “Are there any other questions?”

Judging by the thickness of the case walls, there will be no problems with swelling in the chamber (flutes will also help here). And if you look into the barrel of this pistol, then fears about unreliability disappear: I am sure that even with huge shots, the barrel of this pistol will not burst. Well, one last thing: there is enough gunpowder in the cartridges, now the “cartridge-weapon” complex is doing its job.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages:

  1. Great muzzle energy.
  2. High strength.
  3. The "T" guns are ergonomic and very comfortable.
  4. An additional high-capacity magazine is available.
  5. Can be used in sports.
  6. Availability of tools, spare parts and accessories.
  7. Shoot with high accuracy at a distance of more than 10 m.
  8. Simplified reloading.
  9. Modular design.
  10. Comfortable hand position while shooting.

The disadvantages include:

  1. Technical failures when the store is completely full.
  2. Large dimensions T10, T12 and T15. The large size of the pistol will not allow you to keep it unnoticed under light clothing.
  3. There have been cases when the barrel lost its integrity.

Design

Grandpower ltd. from Slovakia, loudly declared itself in our country when it converted its K100 firearm into a trauma pistol, and for a long time took a leading position in the market of weapons for self-defense. Thus, in 2008, the T10 pistol was developed, which is imported into the Russian Federation by PKP AKBS LLC.

However, competition is constantly evolving, and after a few years even very discerning consumers were no longer able to say for sure “which injury is the best” due to the development of the weapons market and the products of individual companies, among others. It was at this time that the leading designer and head of his company, Yaroslav Kuratsin, took up the creation of a new model, which was designed to consolidate all the advantages of his own design and correct all the shortcomings. The traumatic pistol was called T12.

The first thing the user will feel when he takes this weapon in his hand is high-quality plastic, pleasant to the touch and lightweight. The use of the latest materials does not end there; for example, the bolt frame is made of an alloy of molybdenum, nickel and chromium; this material undergoes a number of chemical and heat treatment measures. The trigger, barrel, frame, bolt carrier are made of high-quality steel and are additionally protected by a special coating against corrosion.

Trigger mechanism

The trigger mechanism is made according to the classic design: double action and trigger type. The mainspring is located on the trigger and is made of high-strength metal, which is called “spring” among gunsmiths. Unlike the previous model, the fixation of the safety lever has also been changed: now it will not be able to operate on its own during operation, even with significant wear of the pistol, which was noted with the T10 model.

Barrel design

Also, Grand Power T12 is distinguished by the design of the barrel, which is now devoid of partitions and pins. Thus, a smooth barrel simply gradually narrows, which does not allow loading and firing live ammunition. Given this design, the T12 is legally designated as a “limited action firearm.”

The Weaver rail at the bottom of the frame makes it possible to install a laser laser or tactical flashlight. The safety is located quite conveniently: you can activate the pistol in one motion by moving the flag down. In the event of an emergency for the owner of a “Grand Power”, and this is precisely why a traumatic pistol is purchased, it is not at all difficult for a trained user to remove the weapon from the holster and at the same time remove the pistol from the safety catch. For the convenience of the arrow, the fuse boxes are located on both sides.

Number of cartridges

17 rounds of ammunition – this is exactly the number of rounds that fits in a clip – is quite enough for self-defense even against several hooligans. The clip itself is box-type, the cartridges are arranged in two rows, but line up in one during firing. The latch is located near the base of the trigger guard.

Front sight

There is also another important difference from the Grand Power T10 - the front sight can be removed. Most users who use these pistols prefer to replace the factory front sight with a product with a luminescent dot or fiber optic rod, this makes shooting at night or in bad weather much easier.

Do I need permission?

To own a traumatic weapon, you must undergo a medical examination and the procedure for obtaining a license. Possession of a traumatic weapon is permissible only if it is available. As a result of the medical examination, a certificate will be issued with the results of a drug test and a conclusion on the right to own weapons.

A prerequisite is passing an examination - you will need to prove your ability to handle weapons according to safety rules. Upon presentation of the required documentation, six photographs and a passport with a photocopy, a 6-month license will be issued.

The following categories will not be able to obtain a license:

  • those under 21 years of age, except for those who have served in the army and those who want to carry weapons with their national costume;
  • persons with visual impairments;
  • seriously ill;
  • persons with mental disorders;
  • persons without a place of residence;
  • citizens who have a repeated administrative violation within a year or a criminal record.
