Technical characteristics of the traumatic pistol Tanfoglio model INNA

History of the pistol

When creating the INNA traumatic pistol, the Italian company Tanfoglio copied its own model of the FT9 combat weapon. In particular, both products are distinguished by visual similarities. But INNA shoots unbreakable bullets.

This model differs from other pistols in that it is equipped with more powerful cartridges than similar pistols on the market. This increases the power to defeat the enemy and, as a result, increases protection in case of danger.

Tanfoglio has been in business since the 1940s and has long specialized in the production of military weapons. The INNA pistol appeared in the line of the Italian brand relatively recently. This self-defense product came to Russia in 2009 and is sold only in specialized stores.

Owner reviews

“I, as they say, was “conquered” by Inna in absentia. And having bought my own, the relationship did not change. My Tanfolio from the first batch, from the first hundred, with mostly only powerful ammunition fired (AKBS Magnum and Magnum for Inna Tanfoglio) over 12,000, is alive and well, and has an appearance almost like “from a store.” Increased wear resistance and durability are Inna’s strong point. According to FRATELLI TANFOGLIO SNC, Inna’s resource is such that when shooting 25,000, only a number of springs and some trigger elements need to be replaced, and she is again ready for further trouble-free operation.

Description and technical specifications

This traumatic pistol stands out from its analogues in several ways. The INNA barrel is not solid, but composite, with a jumper located inside it. The appearance of this design solution is due to the manufacturer’s desire to protect the pistol from being converted into a military weapon. The jumper prevents the use of hard bullets. Similar design solutions are not found in other injuries.

In this regard, Tanfoglio has created its own 9mm Magnum AKBS cartridges for the INNA pistol. But due to the fact that powerful bullets are used for shooting, the inserts placed in the barrel are gradually smoothed out. That is, over time, this means of self-defense may lose its original properties.

The Tanfogilio INNA model has the following characteristics:

  • length - 178 millimeters;
  • height - 120 millimeters;
  • width - 33 millimeters;
  • caliber - 9 millimeters;
  • magazine capacity - 14 rounds;
  • weight without cartridges - 730 grams.

The INNA pistol is intended for single-fire use. A high rate of fire is not required for this self-defense weapon, since a single hit is enough to neutralize the enemy.

This self-defense device is equipped with a double-row clip. First, 10 rounds of ammunition are inserted into the magazine, then the remaining 4. This design feature is due to the fact that the first copies of the pistol were produced with 10 rounds. But after the manufacturer received a lot of negative feedback on this matter, the clip was increased.

The INNA handle has an ergonomic configuration, thanks to which the weapon fits well in the palm.

However, this feature does not appear in all cases. In particular, people with large hands find it more difficult to hold the INNA pistol due to the short grip.

Features of the technical characteristics of the pistol

The performance characteristics of Tanfoglio are by no means impressive with any non-standard features. They are as follows:

  • Its caliber parameters are 9 mm RA;
  • Pistol length – 178 mm;
  • Its barrel length is 93 mm;
  • Gun height – 120 mm;
  • Pistol thickness – 33 mm;
  • When unloaded, the pistol weighs 730 g;
  • The magazine holds 14 charges.

The pistol is quite compact and not too heavy, and therefore it is quite convenient to carry in a holster, as well as under clothing. True, some users claim that when removing the pistol, its protruding parts sometimes catch on the edges of the holster or pockets.

Features of firing from "Tanfoglio"

This injury is characterized by the following features:

  • automatic - blowback recoil;
  • steel shutter;
  • the return spring is located at the bottom of the barrel;
  • trigger principle of the firing mechanism;
  • The safety and slide stop flags and the magazine eject button are located on the left side of the barrel.

The described features indicate that left-handers will find the Tanfoglio INNA difficult to shoot. This self-defense device is complemented by a specially designed trigger, which can be in three states:

  • deflated;
  • cocked;
  • half-cocked.

In the latter case, the trigger and the plate that locks the firing pin are interlocked. Thanks to this, the pistol in this state is not able to fire spontaneously.

This traumatic weapon demonstrates good accuracy of fire. However, force is required to fire due to the heavy trigger. The latter is due to the peculiarities of the trigger mechanism and the tight mainspring. Therefore, the INNA model is not suitable for use by women.

To eliminate these shortcomings, a number of owners carry out additional grinding of the barrel. But this decision does not affect the nature of the shooting.

Tanfoglio INNA disassembly

"Tanfoglio INNA" consists of a polymer frame and a metal shutter. Both features increase the pistol's reliability and protection from damage if dropped.

To resolve a trauma, you need to:

  • Remove the clip and put the safety in the firing position.
  • Shift the bolt frame.
  • Pull the bolt carrier back and lock it in this position.
  • Press the striker of the bolt frame inward and move the stopper downwards.
  • Remove the firing pin stopper by moving downwards.

  • Pull the bolt carrier back and move it forward.
  • Move the frame back a little.
  • Lift the rear part of the frame up so that the part comes out of the coupling with the axles.
  • Remove the frame and springs.

Due to its design features, this model can be disassembled using specialized tools. That is, the latter are necessary to completely clean the internal parts of the weapon.

The traumatic pistol Tanfoglio Inna (Tanfolio Inna) was developed and produced in Italy by the famous weapons company Tanfoglio. This pistol is based on the Tanfoglio FT9 pistol chambered for the 9x17 Browning cartridge. The traumatic pistol Tanfoglio Inna (Tanfolio Inna) uses 9mm RA caliber cartridges, and due to the high structural strength in this pistol, in addition to conventional cartridges of this caliber with a rubber bullet, high-power 9mm RA “Magnum for INNA” cartridges developed by AKBS can be used. The Tanfoglio Inna pistol is distinguished by high-quality workmanship and excellent fit of parts, typical of Italian weapons, good survivability and reliability. Its relatively small size allows for concealed carry, and a fairly capacious magazine for 14 rounds further increases the effectiveness of this weapon.

You can buy a Tanfolio Inna pistol in gun stores, but the best price for a Tanfolio Inna pistol is from its official importer - the RIO company (RosImportOruzhie).

Self-defense weapon - the Inna traumatic pistol is built on the basis of automatic blowback action. The pistol frame is made of impact-resistant polyamide plastic, the barrel, bolt and other elements of the weapon are made of steel. The bolt is coated with Bruniton for better corrosion resistance. Two return springs of different diameters are located under the barrel on a cylindrical guide. The barrel is rigidly fixed in the frame; to prevent firing of hard bullets, it has protrusions protruding into the barrel bore - “teeth”, through which the rubber bullet passes due to its elastic deformation. Trigger mechanism / trigger Tanfolio Inna - double action (self-cocking), with an open trigger. In addition to the cocked and deflated positions, the trigger has a so-called half-cock. In this position, the trigger travel is much shorter than with self-cocking, and the mainspring is less susceptible to shrinkage than with a constantly cocked hammer. The safety of the Inna pistol is located on the left side of the frame, is turned on by moving up, turned off by moving down and has a developed area for the thumb of the right hand. When turned on, the safety locks the sear and trigger of the pistol. Therefore, when the trigger is pulled or half-cocked, the bolt of the weapon is also blocked. When the hammer is cocked, the safety lock can be loaded or unloaded. The pistol also has an inertial firing pin lock. The firing pin in the Tanfolio INNA is only unlocked when the trigger is fully pulled. In all other cases (the pistol falls, the finger is pulled off the trigger when cocking, etc.), the firing pin will be blocked in its channel and the shot will not follow. The sights are open, non-adjustable. There are white dots on the rear sight and front sight, making it easier to aim in the dark and during intuitive shooting. The pistol is fed from detachable box magazines with a capacity of 14 rounds with a double-row arrangement of cartridges and rearrangement of cartridges into one row at the outlet of the store. The magazine release latch looks like a button and is located at the base of the trigger guard on the left side of the frame. If necessary, the magazine latch can be moved to the right side of the frame.

1. Remove the magazine from the pistol 2. Turn off the safety 3. Make sure that there is no cartridge in the chamber by twisting the bolt 4. Pull the bolt back as far as it will go and fix it in this position with the bolt stop lever 5. Using a rubbing spout or other suitable tool, press in the firing pin inside the bolt and move the firing pin stopper down so that the firing pin remains in the pressed position 6. Remove the firing pin stopper from the bolt downward, while the firing pin remains in the bolt 7. Pull the bolt all the way back and smoothly move it to the forward position 8. Move the bolt slightly back then until the point on the rear left plane of the shutter is aligned with the point on the rear left plane of the frame 9. Lift the rear part of the shutter up so that it disengages from the frame trunnions, and move the shutter forward from the frame 10. Remove it from the frame return spring guide

The pistol is assembled in the reverse order.

Advantages and disadvantages

Tanfoglio INNA has the following advantages:

  • the shutter is made of durable material;
  • high force and accuracy of fire;
  • ergonomic handle.

This model has no direct competitors on the Russian market. Tanfoglio INNA was developed on the basis of a combat pistol, adopting a number of design solutions from the latter.

At the same time, the Italian model is complemented by a tight spring and a trigger with a long stroke, which complicates shooting. The handle is short, which creates problems for some owners. In addition, there is a noticeable gap between the handle and the clip, which has to be cleaned regularly, and the coating on the bolt gets scratched quickly.

I will note the shortcomings and advantages that I noticed.

The “growing pains” of Inn’s first and second deliveries were a weak liner with “crushed teeth” that were destroyed when fired with powerful cartridges. The design of the weapon was changed, and a liner with cast “teeth” appeared in the barrel, completely solving the problem. I got used to the handle in one day, but for some it is a little short, because... There is no full rest for the little finger. Maybe INNA is a little “overweight”, it probably seems so from the habit of PM. But this is noticeable when you use a “high” belt holster; in a horizontal operational holster you forget about this dimension. In fact, I have about a dozen different holsters for Inna, depending on my mood and circumstances, and I use them all without any problems.

It’s convenient to aim, but it’s more of a habit. In my opinion, the front sight could have been made thinner, as could the slot in the rear sight. And the white dots here and there just get in the way. The excessively stiff magazine spring shook my nerves, but only for the first 2-3 weeks, but now there are no problems with the magazine equipment. Lids that are not trustworthy may soon crack. Therefore, it is better to order or make metal ones yourself. It is not very convenient to clean, especially the USM, because... Complete disassembly of the pistol is impossible. A non-chrome-plated barrel rusts and becomes quite dirty with rubber. There is only one method of control - thorough and frequent cleaning. In addition, if the barrel, chromed inside, “gives off” carbon deposits for another 2-3 days after shooting, then Inna’s barrel does this twice as long. A fully equipped Tanfolio weighs quite a lot, but from the point of view of reducing recoil this is only a plus.
