Characteristics and description of the traumatic pistol Grand Power model T15

Types of pistols of the “Grand Power” series

Among the weapons in this series it is worth highlighting:
1. Combat:

K100.

2. Traumatic:

  • T10;
  • T11;
  • T12;
  • T15.

The K100 is a self-loading combat pistol that has many modifications. Automation uses a short barrel stroke. It is controlled by a magazine release button, a two-way lever that allows you to turn off the safety, and two-way slide stop levers. Ammunition in the magazine is arranged in two rows; holds from 15 to 19 traumatic rounds (larger capacity magazines hold 17-19 rounds). Weight without cartridges is 740 g. The initial speed of the bullet is 350 m/s.

T10 entered service in 2008. It works by blowback recoil. The units are made of high-strength steel, which is also used in military weapons. The plastic shell made it possible to reduce the weight - it is 700 g. There are barriers in the barrel that do not allow firing a solid object. This weapon allows you to shoot accurately from a distance of more than 10 meters, which is rare for traumatic weapons.

In the T11, an updated model of the T10, the barrel design has no grooves (weakness), but there are pins at the entrance and exit of the antechamber. The designers changed the shape of the rear sight, and this model comes with 3 front sights. The handle is more ergonomic than in the T10 and allows for a stable and tight grip. The T11 traumatic weapon has high strength and high muzzle energy; Suitable for sport shooting. Accessories and spare parts are available for it.

T12 is a firearm of limited destruction, a traumatic pistol. It was developed in Slovakia and intended for the Russian market. Has a plastic shell. The main difference from previous models is the caliber (10×28). This weapon is an improved version of all previous versions. The technical superiority of the Grand Power T12 is ensured by a number of characteristics.

T15 was released recently and in 2017/2018. appeared on the market. It has good balancing, and firing can be carried out in two modes - single action (SA) or double action (DA). Its caliber is 45×30, and its weight is no more than 850 g (some modifications have more than 900 g). This is a fairly large weapon. Push-button magazine, 10-round. High quality manufacturing makes this injury one of the most promising on the market. This short-barreled weapon costs from 42,000 rubles.

Advantages and disadvantages

And it would be wonderful if there weren’t a little bit of tar in this ointment. We're talking about shortcomings. But first, let's summarize the advantages. Here they are:

  • Decent ergonomics.
  • Nice appearance.
  • Large caliber.
  • The use of expensive, reliable materials and technologies in the manufacture of injuries.
  • The feeling of reliability coming from the pistol.

Now let's move on to the shortcomings. For some unknown reason, when the magazine is loaded with all 10 rounds, the cartridge sticks. Empirically, it was possible to establish that it is not worth charging more than 8. The second drawback is associated with poor control of the amount of gunpowder placed in the cartridge case.

For unknown reasons, the manufacturer interprets the charge filling rule in a unique way. Therefore, the amount of gunpowder may vary from cartridge to cartridge. Accordingly, the declared energy of 91 Joules in fact rarely exceeds 30. And the speed of the bullet also “walks”. Otherwise, the pistol deserves to take its rightful place in the ranking of the best injuries.

Description of design and principle of operation

Review of the GSh-18 traumatic pistol
Next we will talk specifically about the T11, however, its differences from the “twelfth” are minimal.

So, the free shutter operating principle is used. To ensure reliability against mechanical damage, the plastic frame is reinforced with a metal frame from the inside.

Some parts of the design deserve special attention:

  • Picatinny rail located on the bottom surface of the front of the frame;
  • Very compact placement of guides for moving the bolt housing and trigger mechanism in the frame;
  • The barrel is made without an acceleration section and is equipped with a milled recess close to the channel. The main guide is located under the barrel;
  • The safety control levers, magazine release buttons, bolt stop and bolt release levers are duplicated on both sides of the pistol, making it equally convenient for right-handers and left-handers;
  • Disassembly capability is similar to the Glock family of pistols - just pull down the bolt release

Sights consist of a removable front sight and a horizontally adjustable rear sight. Based on the unsuccessful experience of the previous model, the magazine is designed similarly to the “combat” Grand Power pistols.

And here you can clearly see that the T11 pistol is produced in Russia

Ammo for Grand Power

Review of the traumatic pistol mr-79-9tm

The 10*22 mm ammunition used was the main weakness of the Grand Power T10. Despite its many strengths, it led to delays in firing after a hundred or two shots, and in advanced cases it jammed tightly, making the weapon useless.

Having listened to the feedback, Yaroslav Kuravitsa is developing a 10*28T cartridge for the T12, which has a number of features:

  • Dimensions close to the standard pistol cartridge of Western countries - 9 * 19 mm, which simplified the work of future designers of traumatic weapons, because it is easiest to convert a combat prototype for this ammunition;
  • The single power of the cartridge allows the owner to forget about the use of replaceable recoil springs, adapting to the ammunition. For example, 9 mm PA ammunition cannot boast of this;
  • The rubber bullet, which expands in flight, has a fairly high stopping power, which makes the 10*28T cartridge one of the strongest in its class.

Results

In fact, it turned out to be a rather original pistol. Of course, due to its size, it is not suitable for everyone. But fans of large weapons will appreciate the Grand Power. Modern processing technologies and weapons-grade steel were used in the manufacture of the traumatum. The rubber ball, the main ammunition, has the required stopping effect. This will be confirmed by T15 owners who have had to use the pistol.

Several shortcomings identified during operation did not damage the reputation of the T15. With sticking, the designers will certainly solve the problem. In the same way, it will be possible to ensure the presence of a clearly measured amount of gunpowder in the cartridges.

Main characteristics:

  • T10 - weighs 700 grams. The cartridge used is 10×22T caliber. The barrel is 108 mm long. The length of the gun is 187 mm, with a height of 133 mm and a width of 36 mm. The regular magazine holds 10 rounds, the same as other "T" models.
  • T11 - weighs 740 g. Equipped with a flag-type fuse. The barrel length is 85 mm. The length of the weapon itself is 170 mm. Height - 118 mm. Width - 36 mm.
  • T12 - has a caliber of 10x28. Pistol height - 133.5 mm, length - 188 mm, width - 36 mm. The barrel has a length of 100 mm. Without cartridges, the gun weighs 770 g. The increased-capacity magazine holds 17 rounds of ammunition.
  • T15 - weighs 850 g. The barrel is made of weapon steel and has a length of 120 mm. Main parameters: 207×138×36 mm. A detachable two-row magazine of regular and high capacity is available.

Specifications

"Grand Power" is designed for shooting rubber balls. Not fatal, but painful enough to sober up a tipsy hooligan or make an overly aggressive opponent calm down.

The charge is unified with that of another pistol, “Ratnik”. The ball itself is made of special metallized rubber.

This increases the weight of the bullet while remaining within the specified volume. With a relatively small mass of 4 grams, it was possible to achieve an acceptable stopping effect comparable to the effect of much heavier bullets.

As for the characteristics themselves, they are as follows:

  • dimensions, millimeters – 207x138x36;
  • caliber – 0.45x30;
  • clip – removable, 10 rounds;
  • weight (uncharged), grams – 850.

Judging by the weight, it is clear that the pistol is not made of plastic or light alloys, but of natural weapon steel. The sleeve is made by trimming another sleeve, size 0.30-06 Sprg.

Development history of Grand Power T11

The entire line of civilian pistols for self-defense “Grand Power T” is a product of adaptation of the Slovak company Grandpower, specializing in the production of pistols for the 9*19 mm combat caliber, to the Russian market. It would be unfair not to mention the interesting story with the development of its predecessor, the T10 model. It seems that this was the only or one of the few cases when the leading designer and owner of the company, Yaroslav Kuratsina, created almost a “dream weapon” for our compatriots, taking part in online discussions on the thematic forum www.guns.ru, which further fueled interest to the future news.

In the year the first batches were released (2008), the T10 was truly the best example available. With its appearance on store shelves, buyers no longer had to choose between “powerful but inconvenient” or “compact but unreliable.” However, the pistol had a number of weaknesses: after hundreds of shots, the first delays appeared, and the design of the magazine was “brought to mind” literally in every new batch.

This is T10 - pay attention to the manufacturer's mark

The appearance of the sequel was not long in coming - a couple of years later the Grand Power T12 appeared on sale, and a little later - its “younger brother” - the compact T11.

Description of design and principle of operation

The first thing the shooter feels when he takes this pistol in his hand is high-quality plastic, light and pleasant to the touch. The use of modern materials does not end there; for example, the shutter is made from an alloy of chromium, nickel and molybdenum, which undergoes a series of hardening and chemical treatment procedures. The barrel, trigger mechanism, bolt casing and frame are made of high-quality metal and are additionally protected with an anti-corrosion coating.

The trigger in the Grand Power T12 is standard: trigger type and double action. The twisted mainspring is located on the trigger and is made of especially strong steel, which is called “spring” among experts. Compared to the previous model, the fixation of the safety lever has been changed for the better: now it cannot operate independently when firing, even in a state of severe wear, which happened with the T10.

Grand Power T12 is unique among all other traumatic pistols due to its barrel design, devoid of pins and partitions. Instead, the smooth barrel tapers smoothly, eliminating the possibility of firing live ammunition. Because of this technical solution, according to current legislation, the T12 is classified as a “limited-kill firearm.”

The safety is designed to be extremely convenient: you can bring the weapon into a state of combat readiness with one movement of your thumb by sliding the lever down. In the event of an unexpected danger for the owner of the Grand Power, and it is for such situations that traumatic weapons are purchased, it is not at all difficult for a trained shooter to remove the T12 from the holster and at the same moment remove it from the safety. For the convenience of any user, the safety levers are located on both sides.

17 rounds – that’s exactly how much it fits in the magazine – is enough for self-defense even against several opponents. The magazine itself is box-type, with a double-row arrangement of cartridges that line up in one row when firing. The latch is located at the base of the trigger guard.

Another important difference from the Grand Power T10 is the removable front sight. Many of those who use such weapons prefer to replace the standard front sight with a front sight with a fiber optic rod or luminescent mark, which greatly simplifies shooting in the dark or in bad weather conditions

Assembly/disassembly

The disassembly procedure is similar to the sequence of disassembling a Makarov combat pistol. It is necessary for cleaning the gun and tuning. First, the magazine is released using a latch. After this, the fuse is deactivated. Next, the presence of ammunition in the chamber is checked. Disassembly continues only with an empty chamber. Then the trigger rod is pulled back, and after that the casing-jam moves to the rear position. While in this position it must be removed; To do this, you need to pull on the back. Thus, the casing-jam is removed from the guides. Next, it is moved to the extreme forward position and removed from the barrel. After this, the return spring is removed. Incomplete disassembly ends here.

The assembly is carried out using the reverse algorithm.

Advantages and disadvantages of a traumatic pistol

In 2014, due to tightening legislation in the field of traumatic weapons, imports from Slovakia were stopped, and production was taken over by PKP AKBS LLC at the Degtyarev Plant (later production was transferred to). Despite its leading position in the market, Grand Power T12 (later there were minor modifications like T12F or T12FM1) had a number of unresolved problems.

But let's start with the strengths:

  • Firstly, the exceptional power of the shot. A bullet fired from a distance of up to five meters, if it hits the torso or leg, is guaranteed to stop the enemy even in warm winter clothes;
  • Although the concept of “accuracy” is rarely heard when discussing traumatic pistols, the accuracy of fire is more than satisfactory;
  • The service life of the barrel allows you not to worry about premature wear and use the T12 not only in case of immediate danger, but also for training or recreational shooting.

Weaknesses include:

  • Some components produced in domestic factories are of questionable reliability;
  • Significantly higher price compared to similar models.

The line of traumatic pistols of the Slovak company does not end there, and a little later the “compact” model T11 comes out.

History of the T15-F pistol

If we talk about the Grand Power T15, then this is one of the most prominent representatives of the family of traumatic pistols. Powerful. Fits well in the hand. It is also called a “pocket howitzer”. Indeed, before the introduction of changes to the Law “On Weapons”, this copy remained, if not “number one,” then it was included in the rating of the most reliable, trouble-free pistols.

To this it remains to add the serious caliber of the weapon - 0.45 (corresponding to 11.43 millimeters in the metric system). With such a “gun” you can safely go for a walk even in an unsafe area. Experts say that there are certain similarities between the T15 and the famous Colt M1911. Perhaps they are right.

Grand Power disassembly

The stages of partial disassembly for cleaning should be known to every owner of a pistol who is interested in ensuring that it does not jam at a critical moment, or for modernization such as installing a different mainspring. The Slovak company has made disassembly as simple as possible; it resembles the disassembly of a Makarov.

Main steps:

  1. Get the clip.
  2. Remove the pistol from the safety catch.
  3. Make sure there is no cartridge in the chamber.
  4. By pulling the trigger rod, move the bolt frame to its rearmost position and remove it from the guides.
  5. Remove the bolt carrier from the barrel by moving it forward.
  6. Remove the return spring.

These simple steps are enough to periodically clean the gun. Assembly is carried out in reverse order.

You can see more details about disassembling the pistol in this video.

Grand Power t12

Initially, the Grand Power t12 traumatic pistol was developed for sale exclusively in Russia and this trend still continues. The design of the pistol is quite traditional for a traumatic weapon: there are no partitions or pins in the barrel bore. However, the high destructive power of the model quite logically explains why the Grand Power t12 was included in the list of firearms with limited damage (Figure 1).

Figure 1. This is what the most popular traumatic pistol in Russia looks like

Thanks to the universal design of the pistol, any 10x28T traumatic cartridges are suitable for it.

In fact, this model is an improved version of the T10 pistol, which was created by the famous engineer from Slovakia Jaroslav Kuracina.

The key difference between the Grand Power t12 pistol and the “mother” model is that it completely eliminates the problem of feeding a charge into the chamber. In addition, thanks to the use of modernized ammunition, it was possible to significantly increase firing efficiency.

History of the traumatic pistol

Despite the fact that the Grand Power t12 pistol is a modernized version of the T10, certain differences between these models still exist. It should be immediately clarified that after its appearance on the market, the T10 pistol almost immediately began to be in high demand, and its improved version was no exception.

The creators of the pistol took into account all the shortcomings of the past, and tried to make the new model as convenient and practical as possible:

  1. The pistol components are made from the most modern materials. Thanks to this, the finished firearm is lightweight, but has a high service life and reliability.
  2. The pistol frames are made of high-strength lightweight plastic.
  3. The shutter is made from a special steel block (chrome-nickel-molybdenum), which undergoes special hardening and is characterized by increased strength.

And although outwardly the Grand Power t12 pistol is not much different from other models, having tested it in action just once, it becomes clear that the developers tried to make the new weapon as practical, reliable and comfortable as possible.

Traumatic pistol Grand Power T12

The Grand Power T12 pistol, produced in Russia, does not have partitions or pins in the barrel.
The new Russian Grand Power T12 is a firearm of limited destruction and has a corresponding certificate. The Russian Grand Power T12 fires all available 10×28 traumatic action cartridges. The cost of the new T12 is about 38,000 rubles.

10×28T traumatic cartridge (left) and 9×19 combat cartridge

The Grand Power T12 pistol, created by the Slovak designer Jaroslav Kuracina on the basis of his Grand Power K100 combat pistol, is an improved version of the T10 pistol, famous in Russia. My catalog of traumatic weapons on this site contains detailed information and owner reviews on this pistol. The Grand Power T12 pistol differs from its prototype primarily in the use of a new 10x28 traumatic action cartridge, which eliminated the feed problem that the T10 pistol had, and also increased the shooting efficiency of this self-defense weapon. An important quality in the field of versatility and ease of use are innovations that have not changed the design much, but are very useful.

The Grand Power T12 limited-kill firearm is made in accordance with the concept of a modern modular personal self-defense weapon. The T12 pistol features interchangeable grip panels and ambidextrous controls. Standard Picatinny rails allow you to install a wide variety of accessories on your weapon. That is, the owner can easily and quickly attach tactical flashlights and laser designators from various manufacturers, or even guidance units that combine a flashlight and laser designator, to his self-defense weapon. Replaceable grip panels, safety and slide levers, Picatinny rails were introduced into the design of the new self-defense weapon, the Grand Power T12 traumatic pistol, directly from the Grand Power K100 Mk7 9 mm combat pistol.

The Grand Power T12 pistol uses a new 10×28 traumatic cartridge, which is a 9mm Parabellum (9×19) live cartridge case extended to 28 mm with a rubber bullet with a diameter of 12 mm and a weight of 1.8 g. The use of this cartridge eliminated the main drawback Grand Power T10 pistol, which consisted in an unstable supply of 10x22T cartridges from the magazine to the chamber. The reason for these delays was the insufficient length of the cartridge, since the weapon was developed on the basis of the K100 combat pistol, the magazine of which was designed for 9x19 cartridges. The 10×28 traumatic action cartridge is almost identical in length to the 9mm Parabellum, allowing it to feed smoothly like the K100 combat pistol. But with the introduction of a new cartridge, not only the reliability of the pistol was increased, but also the firing efficiency of this weapon in self-defense.

The 10×22T traumatic action cartridge produced by PKP AKBS LLC in terms of muzzle energy significantly exceeds the recently popular .45 Rubber and has higher energy than 9mm PA, or is on equal terms according to the results of measurements when firing the best-powered 9mm PA cartridges from T10 pistol. When firing from a Grand Power T12 traumatic pistol with 10x28 cartridges with a bullet weighing 1.8 g, the muzzle energy is about 150 J. This is a very good indicator in comparison with most traumatic self-defense weapons at the moment. PKP AKBS LLC in the future can produce significantly more effective traumatic cartridges for self-defense, with heavier bullets and greater muzzle energy, but only if the weapons legislation changes for the better in relation to ordinary citizens of Russia.

Video review of the Grand Power T12 pistol manufacturer Fortuna

The automatic operation of the Grand Power T12 traumatic pistol operates according to a blowback design. The T12 pistol frame is a GF30 polyamide plastic shell with interchangeable rear grip panels varying in shape and size. Replaceable panels allow you to customize the ergonomics of the handle for the specific owner of this self-defense weapon. Personal adjustment of the ergonomics of the handle makes holding the weapon much more comfortable, and the grip is tight and stable, which significantly increases the accuracy of shooting, both aimed at a low tempo and high-speed shooting in series. This quality of self-defense weapons is necessary both for owners who purchase them for self-defense, and for sports shooters who compete with their traumatic pistols in competitions according to IPSC rules.

In the front part of the plastic frame (shell) of the pistol, on its lower surface, there is a Picatinny rail. The recoil spring is located under the barrel, as in the K100 Mk7 pistol. The Grand Power T12 traumatic self-defense weapon is equipped with only one replaceable panel, similar to the frame panel of the Grand Power K100 Mk7 combat pistol. However, any owner can purchase and install panels of other dimensions on his rubber pistol, adjusting them to the size of his hand. The plastic frame (shell) houses a steel frame (liner), which is legally considered a frame. The frame has guides for moving the shutter casing along it and the trigger mechanism is also located in it. The steel barrel is fixed to this frame. Inside the bore there is a small protrusion ("tooth") located directly in front of the chamber, at the top, which does not allow firing solid bullets. A rubber bullet from a traumatic cartridge easily passes through this protrusion due to elastic deformation.

Assembling and disassembling the pistol

The procedure for partial disassembly for cleaning should be known to any shooter who is interested in ensuring that his weapon does not jam at the most inopportune moment, or for a simple modification such as replacing the recoil spring. To accommodate users, the Slovak company made this algorithm as simple as possible and somewhat reminiscent of disassembling a PM.

So, the procedure is:

  • Disconnect the magazine;
  • Remove the weapon from the safety lock;
  • Make sure the chamber is empty;
  • Pulling back the trigger rod, move the bolt casing to the rearmost position and remove it from the guides;
  • Remove the bolt casing from the barrel, moving it to the extreme forward position;
  • Remove the return spring.

Technical characteristics of Grand Power t12

A review of the technical characteristics of the Grand Power t12 pistol clearly shows that weapons engineers really managed to create a reliable and safe model to use (Figure 2).

Its main technical characteristics include:

  1. The magazine is designed for 17 rounds of 10x28T caliber;
  2. The barrel length is 100 mm with a total length of the entire pistol of 188 mm;
  3. The height of the model is 133.5 mm, and its width reaches 36 mm;
  4. When unloaded, the pistol weighs only 770 grams, which is a key factor when choosing a weapon.

Users who have already tested the Grand Power t12 pistol in practice claim that it is amazingly reliable. Major parts rarely fail, and the only parts that may require replacement due to prolonged or rough use are the trigger guard and magazine release.

Figure 2. Model specifications

In general, the technical characteristics of the model indicate that the Grand Power t12 is a high quality weapon that can be used for self-defense. In addition, the pistol is quite capable of replacing traditional firearms when shooting from a distance of less than 10 meters.

"Grand Power" T15

The Grand Power T15 traumatic pistol is the latest model in the line of traumatic weapons for 2022. Having reviewed the design of its barrel, it is worth noting the large margin of safety. The barrel is practically motionless, has a large mass and is fixed with a special notch.

The operation of the trigger mechanism has two modes, differing in the force of impact during the descent and the process itself. In the first case, the hammer, cocked by manual action on the bolt, breaks after a slight force on the trigger. In the second case, the impact on the hook itself is sufficient for the shot.

Increased energy when firing allows you to successfully use the T15, despite the less high accuracy of fire that is typical for other “T” pistols. The shooting efficiency of this weapon is ensured by the large weight of the bullet, its speed characteristics and the weight of the weapon itself.

This weapon should be used strictly according to the instructions and with extreme caution, even when unloaded. The same care must be taken when cleaning it. There is no need to direct it at others unnecessarily. It is necessary to remember about the possibility of a “lingering” 30-second shot in a situation where there was a malfunction in the shooting. In self-defense, this traumatic pistol should be used as carefully as possible, without resorting to shots at the most important parts of the attacker’s body. There are recommendations to refrain from shooting from a distance of less than 1 meter in non-critical situations.
