Holographic sight - a hybrid of time-tested optics and the latest technology

Collimator and holographic sight

The operation of a collimator sight is based on the use of the principle of light collimation, that is, obtaining a parallel beam of rays corresponding to distant objects of observation. The collimator is a long-focus lens in which a mark is installed, illuminated by a special device. It has the form of a pinhole or grid with the necessary service information. For collimator sights mounted on small arms, the mark is a diaphragm that forms a luminous aiming point.

Holographic sight - a hybrid of time-tested optics and the latest technology

Holographic sights in most classifications are of the collimator type - you will soon see their similarity.
These are open sights that are extremely convenient to use. The shooter does not need to close his other eye; he makes full use of his peripheral vision and instantly reacts to danger. We will look at the design and operating principle of holographic sights, make a brief overview of some models, and study the advantages and disadvantages of this optics.

Why shouldn't you install optics in multiplayer?

There are several reasons why the crosshair will have a detrimental effect on the game and let's look at them now.

  1. The main and main reason is the speed of aiming. With any optic you aim longer than without it.
  2. In addition, the optics occupy a modular slot, which you can use for other body kits, for example: increase the number of cartridges, reduce recoil, install a silencer, etc.
  3. All sights except multiples zoom practically nothing; in other words, you replace the front sight with an optic and leave the same view.
  4. Some may say, “It's easy to hit the head with a scope!” Yes, this is true, but CoD has a low TTK, which means headshots rarely kill in the first shot. Thus, it makes no difference where you shoot (in the head or in the chest), since in terms of damage you kill the enemy in a hundredth of a second.

How the holographic sight works

The key component of a holographic sight is the laser that forms the aiming mark. What is the difference between a familiar luminous point and a hologram? The answer is simple - in perception. The shooter's mind is capable of perceiving the holographic aiming mark at impressive distances. In this case, the laser beam constructs an image close to the hunting eye - the distance is several centimeters.

The illumination does not matter - the eye will perfectly distinguish the aiming mark even in the dark. The viewing angle also does not affect the clarity of the mark - it is always located in the center of the sight. The hologram is, in fact, an aspherical reflector, which makes it similar to a collimator lens. Holographic sights are quite compact and parallax errors are kept to a minimum.

About unreliable options that should be avoided

Sometimes domestic “masters” install a Weaver landing even on a dovetail. Special adapters are made for this. Moreover, there are no standard devices - each time a special approach is needed. For example, on the steel console of a device manufactured in Volgograd (VOMZ), you can place another sighting device with various mounting options. But the collimator sight designed for the 16-caliber IZH-27 can only be placed on a sighting bar with a maximum width of 7 mm. Such designs are not recommended for use not only because of the increased weight of the weapon, but also because its alignment is disrupted. Such adapters weigh 100 grams or even more. Those who have already used such homemade mounts in practice say that they have little reliability and after a dozen shots they already begin to become loose. The optical device can be installed with minimal weight. But according to calculations, for the IZH-27, the collimator sight should weigh within 90 grams.

Device, design (similar to a collimator)

Holographic sight device

The holographic sight is a kind of hybrid of optics and mechanics. The hologram can be considered a new evolutionary stage of collimators. The accuracy of target designation and design features are borrowed from classical optics, and image fixation is from mechanics.

The design consists of an electro-optical mechanism (collimator heritage) and an aiming mark, reflected as a holographic image in the output window. You can see the brand of the hands thanks to the built-in laser.

The sighting design differs slightly from the usual collimator. The optical design of the device looks like this:

  • frame;
  • fastening device;
  • emitter brightness control;
  • power supply;
  • focusing optical system;
  • emitter;
  • microdiaphragm;
  • hologram with recording of the aiming mark;
  • collimator;
  • adjustment device.

How to use

Consoles that can be quickly changed are the preferred location for mounting the sighting device. If the need arises, such a device can be quickly removed and the movement for game can be resumed. You can use this device to fire from a moving car or shoot at rapidly moving targets. If fire is fired from an automatic weapon, then collimator sights are installed in the side of the receiver. Severe frost is the enemy of red dot sights, because... under its influence, the power supply may cease to perform its functions.

Power supply status indication system

The operation of a holographic sight is based on complex electronics, which is why such “toys” are not cheap. It will be unpleasant if, when you go hunting and encounter a large animal, you find that the battery is dead and the aiming mark has gone out.

Fortunately, the developers have thought of everything. “Holographs” are equipped with an indication system that allows you to control the capacity of the power source. Essentially, this is a tiny microcircuit containing the following components:

  1. reference voltage source (adjustable thermostable);
  2. ten-level voltage comparator;
  3. point-to-scale switch;
  4. LED current stabilizer.

System for automatically or manually changing the brightness of the aiming mark

The latest generations of holographic sights have become considerably smarter and have acquired a lot of nice gadgets. A clear confirmation of these words is German products. “Holographs” from this manufacturer are equipped with an intelligent system that allows you to easily adjust the brightness of the aiming mark.

Now the shooter has the opportunity not only to adjust the brightness of the aiming point, but also an option to manually select the acceptable brightness.

Automatic adjustment allows 3 modes, the selection of which is carried out thanks to a magnetic system built into the cover of the optical device.

The brightness can also be adjusted depending on the lighting level - a built-in photosensitive element is designed for this. This gadget is located in the front section of the sight. Thanks to this development, the holographic sight can be used in almost any weather and lighting conditions - even at dusk, even in fog.

A weapon from the Wehrmacht era, which is distinguished by the use of a bolt stop, is the Walter P38 air pistol. The principle of disassembly and reassembly, the advantages and disadvantages of the pistol. And also a short video review.

A detailed diagram of the Makarov air pistol can be found in this article. Design and characteristics of the pistol.

Decent frame for top optical instruments

If you already have money for a high-class optical device, then it makes no sense to save money when installing it; then the money invested in the device itself will pay off in full due to the quality of shooting. During installation, it is worth remembering not only about the reliable fixation of a fairly massive sighting device, but also that both the bar and bolted connections must be immune to recoil loads. Moreover, for a long time. All sorts of homemade devices, no matter how much they are praised by the authors, are not suitable here - there is no confidence in their reliability. Only proprietary developments are suitable for guaranteed reliable installation of a 12-gauge collimator sight, and they can be easily purchased in online stores.

When choosing a product, make sure that its outline is the same as that of the receiver. Also look at the thickness of the box: it should be sufficient for cutting a hole and for cutting at least 3 turns. For cutting use prof. equipment.

Review of several models

The beauty of “holographs” is their versatility - you don’t have to squint or put your eye close to the scope’s eyepiece. At the same time, the laser beam and aiming mark are not visible to an outside observer, which allows you to sneak up on the enemy (animal) unnoticed. The growing popularity of collimators and “holographs” has led to the expansion of their model range.

In this review, we will highlight the three most popular “holographs”, give their brief characteristics and compare them with each other. All you have to do is arm yourself with the knowledge you have acquired and confidently head to the hunting store to make a purchase.

BUSHNELL HOLOSIGHT II

Holographic sight BUSHNELL HOLOSIGHT II

This "holograph" is produced by . Once upon a time, “HOLOSite” made a splash in the world of optical sights, confidently occupying the niche of electronic optics. “Bushnel” is completely devoid of parallax and is a non-replica sight. At one time, the idea of constructing an optical image without the help of lenses was revolutionary.

A hunter taking aim at his prey has the illusion that the aiming mark is hovering approximately 50 meters away from him. The shooter's barrel and eye can be located on different lines - this will not affect the accuracy of the hit. The price varies within 18 thousand rubles.

How does the second model of “HOLOsite” differ from the prototype? Let's try to formulate the key points:

  1. dimensions (the sight has become more compact);
  2. additional service programs;
  3. twenty-step brightness adjustment;
  4. automatic power off (triggered after 8 hours of continuous operation);
  5. increased battery capacity (the sight will last you 40 hours).

"HOLOsites" provide two modifications - standard and sniper. The built-in processor can adjust lead parameters (when attacking a moving target) and calculate correction factors (relevant when shooting at long distances).

Visual video review of the BUSHNELL HOLOSIGHT holographic sight:

The undeniable advantages include the horizontal-vertical adjustment of the sight, the accuracy of which reaches half an arc minute. A significant drawback is the dimensions. However, this cannot be said that the company is not working to eliminate this flaw.

TASCO OPTIMA 2000

Holographic sight TASCO OPTIMA 2000

For many, the trademarks “Dr. Optik” and “FirePoint”, under which the mentioned “holograph” is produced, have already become iconic. The third electronic generation of Taxco Optima is a powerful hybrid that combines the advantages of projection sights and tube structures. The price is about 13 thousand rubles.

The aiming mark is formed using the laser we are already familiar with and appears as a red dot on a miniature display. Here lies the difference between Taxco and HOLOsites. In the first case, the dot is displayed, in the second, it sticks to the target.

As for the dimensions, here “Tasco” takes the lead - it is a fairly compact and convenient sight. There are other pleasant aspects of using this optics:

  1. microelectronic filling is protected from water penetration;
  2. power source - CR 2032 (three-volt lithium battery);
  3. work automation.

In an effort to reduce the dimensions of the product as much as possible, the developers deliberately abandoned some important options. Whether these are disadvantages or advantages is up to you to judge. So:

  1. brightness is adjusted automatically;
  2. there is no shutdown button (instead, we are offered a cover and sensor blocking - so you won’t be able to shoot at night);
  3. Vertical/horizontal adjustment is carried out using a micro-disc and a hex key.

Review of the TASCO OPTIMA 2000 holographic sight installed on a combat pistol:

Professionals are confident that the developers did a brilliant job minimizing the design. But the functionality of the sight (and its versatility) leave much to be desired.

There are various ways to measure distance that are used in practical shooting. One of them is an optical sight with a rangefinder, which has gained great popularity. How distances are measured and the choice between popular models.

If while hunting, sunlight makes it difficult to accurately aim through the optics, then we recommend purchasing an eyecup for an optical sight. Here you can learn everything about eyecups, their types, functions and installation.

Eotech exps3-0

Holographic sight Eotech exps3-0

What has changed in the new EOTech collimators compared to their predecessors? The body of the sight has been overgrown with additional protection, has become moisture-resistant, and has acquired side push-button controls. As in previous analogues, there is no parallax. The cost of this device is about 40 thousand rubles.

The birthplace of EOTech holographic optics is the USA. Many shooters agree that the EOTech scope is the best that is sold on the gun market. There are several reasons:

  1. function of combining with night vision devices;
  2. no radiation;
  3. 10 levels of brightness control (night mode) plus another 20 for standard shooting;
  4. high-capacity batteries;
  5. quick battery change;
  6. compatibility with additional modules.

Holo cryptocurrency and Holo Fuel “tokens”: what are the differences?

Holo cryptocurrency is an internal platform token that is used as a reward to participants for placing their data in a shared storage. Holo uses DHT (Distributed Hash Table), which is designed to eliminate the need to confirm transactions between two users. At the same time, peering chains are common to DHT.

For reference! DHT (Distributed hash table) is a distributed hash table, which allows transactions to be carried out directly, without the participation of third parties.

And, despite the fact that the entire ecosystem is built on the Ethereum blockchain, and the token works on the ERC20 algorithm, there are still differences, or rather, there will be. It will be possible to see them only after most of the solutions are implemented, and the temporary HOT token will be replaced by Holo fuel (as a means of exchanging value, not a currency). That is, when users exchange data, services or hosting, Holo fuel will act as a barter marker. This means that Holochain will not have its own currency, such as BTC for Bitcoin, or ETH for Ethereum. Any ecosystem user will be able to create their own tokens.

A total of 133,214,575,156 coins were mined. 75% of the total quantity is available for sale. During the ICO, it was possible to collect 33,200 Ethereum, which at that time was about $19,389,382. The maximum collection goal was $30,000,000, the minimum was $1,200,000.

According to the developers, the generation of coins depends on the creation of hosting spaces and other user actions within the network and is calculated using the derived formula.

Advantages and disadvantages of a holographic sight

The structural simplicity of “holographs” is illusory - they are manufactured using complex technologies. The disadvantages of these collimators are:

  1. high price;
  2. a defect can lead to “stratification” of the hologram;
  3. Mechanical stress and overheating can damage the device.

Let's forget about the bad. Holographic optics have many more advantages:

  1. fixed line of sight;
  2. sighting marks quickly change (and you don’t need additional zeroing);
  3. no parallax;
  4. non-recurrence (when shooting it is not necessary to squint your eyes);
  5. visual safety.

The versatility of “holographs” is amazing. The laser forms an aiming mark in any weather conditions. Your scope may be covered in mud and snow, drenched in rain, or even broken—the luminous dot will not disappear. Good news for hunters: forget about glare. Now nothing scares off the animals.

Holo cryptocurrency mining

You won’t be able to get coins using the equipment and power of a PC or farms. That is, instead of the usual PoS and PoW technologies, DHT is used - a distributed hash table. And it is precisely this algorithm for obtaining digital assets that ensures their uniqueness and the ecosystem’s scalability.

Holo tokens received during the ICO can later be used to purchase Holo Fuel.

Already in May 2022, immediately after the end of the ICO, the coin was listed on the Radar Relay exchange, and then on other platforms. List of exchanges where Holo is listed:

Exchange name Currency pairs with Holo
Hotbit HOT/BTC, HOT/ETH
IDEX HOT/ETH
Fatbtc HOT/ETH
Bancor Network HOT/BTC
BigONE HOT/ETH
Radar Relay HOT/ETH
OOOBTC HOT/BTC

HOT/ETH

DDEX HOT/ETH
LATOKEN HOT/ETH
HOT/BTC, HOT/ETH

Since the token is based on the ERC20 algorithm, all wallets designed for storing Ethereum are suitable: MyEtherWallet, Trezor, Ledger Nano S. The wallet balance must have BTC or ETH, since the exchange can only be carried out in pairs with these cryptocurrencies.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3Edit

The thermal imager is unlocked upon reaching weapon level 30 for all main weapons, with the exception of shotguns and the Police Shield.

The thermal imager itself has not changed much: the principle of operation remains absolutely the same (it highlights opponents without the Killer perk as white while aiming), the reticle itself and the sight zoom have not changed, the sight itself still reduces the “CenterSpeed” parameter - the speed at which the weapon returns to its original state after shot - for all weapons on which it is installed ( except M16A4

); The thermal imager itself has changed somewhat visually. However, the module has now become much more useful than it was before. Why?

Some weapons, such as: L86 LSW, MK46, PKP Pecheneg, PM-9 or, for example, AK-47, have quite serious values for the “” parameter - the weapon “shakes” across the screen after firing, although the camera “follows " only behind the "ViewKick" parameter. What does the thermal imager have to do with it? removes the weapon model while aiming.

and, as a result, “GunKick”, which creates some problems for the listed weapons, is removed. Previously, the “GunKick” of weapons was very insignificant and had little effect on recoil - which is why the thermal imager, which reduces the speed at which the weapon returns to its original state, was unpopular. Now the above-mentioned weapons, especially machine guns, receive a very serious bonus when using a thermal imager. And this also despite the fact that the thermal imager highlights enemies. PM-9 and AK-47, however, receive a rather dubious bonus, since their “GunKick” is not that strong, but due to the decrease in “CenterSpeed” they have to fire in bursts. Yes, and PKP Pecheneg will not win much, and all because of the same thing: a decrease in “CenterSpeed”.

On other weapons, the thermal imager is still not particularly appreciated. With the exception of the mentioned M16A4: the thermal imager does not reduce the “CenterSpeed” parameter for it, and due to the reduction of “GunKick” the thermal imager works in much the same way as the holographic sight on the same rifle, namely, it reduces recoil. You can, of course, try using a thermal imager on a weapon with low recoil or something semi-automatic, such as MP7, MK14, SCAR-L, any sniper rifle.
