The PM-T pistol is currently classified as a firearm of limited destruction

The PM-T pistol is a self-defense weapon made on the basis of the Makarov combat pistol by installing a smooth barrel with a small partition-pin immediately behind the chamber and weakening grooves, instead of the original rifled barrel. In general, the PM-T barrel is similar in design to the barrel of the Grand Power T12 pistol. The PM-T pistol is the fruit of the joint work of PKP AKBS LLC and ZID OJSC, which developed it taking into account the forensic requirements currently in force in the Russian Federation. The main goal in creating these self-defense weapons was to maximize the preservation of their “historical value” by minimizing alterations and interventions in the original design.

The appearance of the PM-T traumatic pistol on the Russian market of self-defense weapons became a real sensation. For the first time, citizens of the Russian Federation had the opportunity to purchase as personal property a rubber pistol made from combat PM by simply replacing the rifled barrel with a barrel with a smooth channel that has a pin behind the chamber and weakening grooves to eliminate the possibility of firing bullets from hard materials. In fact, the PM-T pistol differs from the Makarov pistol only in the cartridge used - 9mm PA with a rubber bullet instead of a combat 9x18. Thanks to this, the PM-T is the most authentic version of the PM pistol chambered for traumatic action.

An equally important circumstance that aroused great interest in the new product was the fact that PM-T pistols not only have the properties of self-defense weapons, but also have collector’s value. They were made from Makarov combat pistols produced from the early 1950s to the late 1980s. Most of the PM-T pistols were converted from PMs produced in the 1960-1970s. The surface treatment of the frame and the shutter-casing has been preserved; there is no grinding or new coating. The original numbers have also been retained. In addition, Makarov pistols produced in Soviet times are distinguished by high quality steel, workmanship and surface treatment. This especially applies to weapons produced from the 1950s to the 1970s. Unfortunately, modern versions of the PM and pistols produced in the 1990s cannot even come close to the quality of weapons manufactured in the Soviet Union.

The result was an outwardly undamaged Makarov, with a wide “anti-glare” bar, “bearded”, with numbered parts and original bluing. Apart from small external differences in the form of laser-applied markings on the right side of the frame, the letter “T” or the number “1” printed in front of the pistol number on the left side of the bolt casing, as well as a smaller bore diameter, buyers of the PM-T received almost A traumatic pistol identical to the combat Makarov. The value of the PM-T became clear from the very first announcement posted by the manufacturer on the Internet, on its website and on a popular weapons forum. Modest information about plans to produce such a pistol caused a serious stir among gun lovers. Especially those for whom its historical value is not indifferent.

Interest was fueled to no small extent by the legislative ban on the manufacture of pneumatic, signal and gas weapons with the ability to fire rubber bullets from the main parts of military weapons. This amendment to the Weapons Law, along with other changes, came into force on July 1, 2011, and AKBS, together with ZiD OJSC, had to manage to produce the maximum number of copies of the PM-T before the designated “rainy day.” In essence, the PM-T became a low-volume weapon. As a result, from the moment PM-T pistols appeared in gun stores towards the end of May, during the initial sales period, buyers stood in lines in the morning and “snatched up” them, regardless of the condition of the coating, the year of manufacture of a particular item and the price. Those who managed to purchase one of the PM-T pistols, of which about 5,000 were produced, were not disappointed. Currently, the price of these pistols is only rising. If in June the price in gun stores averaged 16,000 - 18,000 rubles, now PM-Ts are sold second-hand for more than 50,000 rubles.

The automatic operation of the PM-T pistol operates based on the use of blowback recoil. The return spring is original, from combat examples. Worn springs were replaced with new ones. The resource of these return springs is very long, thanks to the significantly lower recoil impulse of the 9mm PA traumatic cartridge compared to the combat one. But many owners have encountered a problem caused by a strong return spring. There were delays in firing due to a lack of cartridges. This is especially true when using low-power traumatic cartridges. The solution was to install a return spring from an MP-654K air pistol.

Unfortunately, many pistols in the first batches had poor manufacturing quality of the new-made barrel, which caused delays due to the cartridge sticking during feeding. However, the AKBS company managed to quickly influence the manufacturer and soon the PM-Ts were freed from the above-mentioned shortcomings, as for pistols produced since the beginning of June. But the bore and bevel of the chamber of pistols of later production, however, require polishing for the best shooting accuracy and reliability of chambering the cartridge. The trigger mechanism is hammer-type, double-action with automatic safety cocking. Descent with warning. The trigger pull when shooting with a pre-cocked hammer in single action mode is 2 kg, and when shooting in self-cocking mode - 4.5 kg.

The trigger stroke of PMs manufactured in the USSR since 1955 is smooth and short enough for a combat pistol trigger. All trigger parts for pistols produced before the 1980s. made by milling. The bolt stop lever is located on the left side of the frame. In order to more reliably extract spent cartridges, we can recommend that owners of PM-Ts that have a bolt stop with a wide reflector “tooth” replace this part with an earlier one, with a narrow and longer reflector. Although personally, my original “blown” bolt stop with a wide “tooth” works perfectly. The safety lock of the PM-T pistol, located on the left side of the bolt, when turned on, blocks the firing pin and safely releases the hammer. In the on position, the safety locks the sear and the bolt-casing, while the trigger does not touch the firing pin. It is turned off by moving the lever to the lower position, that is, by a natural movement of the thumb of the shooter’s hand holding the weapon.

Sighting devices consist of a fixed front sight, made as part of the bolt-casing, and a rear sight, fixed in a dovetail groove with the possibility of making lateral corrections. The single-stack magazine holds eight rounds. It is secured in the magazine well with a spring latch at the bottom of the handle, which is a more reliable method than securing it with a side latch at the base of the trigger guard. The downside here is the lower speed of replacing a magazine when reloading a weapon. PM-T pistols were equipped with only one magazine. Subsequently, the owners purchased additional magazines separately, mainly corresponding to the production period of the purchased pistol. The most common are stores from 1954-1985. with stamping on the bottom left side. Such stores correspond to most PM-T and cost on average no more than 500 rubles. And in general, the PM-T pistol is valuable due to the availability of spare parts. Original parts made in Soviet times are quite easy to find, and they are inexpensive.

In addition to high quality, long service life and historical value, the PM-T pistol is a reliable and quite effective self-defense weapon. The pros and cons of the PM-T are almost the same as those of its prototype. The disadvantages include a rather long trigger stroke and a fairly large trigger force, like that of combat PMs, which affects the shooting accuracy. The narrow handle with a small angle of inclination takes some getting used to if the owner has previously used a more ergonomic weapon. Accuracy is also negatively affected by small-sized, actually rudimentary, sighting devices with a narrow and low front sight and a small rear sight slot. Such sighting devices are not suitable for maneuverable high-speed shooting at close ranges. However, if you want to achieve accurate shooting and accuracy during high-speed shooting, you can quickly enough; you get used to the pistol, and its shortcomings are compensated by developing skills in handling the weapon.

One of the most important advantages of the pistol created by Nikolai Fedorovich Makarov is its reliability in the most difficult operating conditions. This quality has been proven not only in tests and during operation in the active army, but also in harsh combat conditions in a variety of countries. The Makarov traumatic pistol combines the best qualities of a personal short-barreled self-defense weapon. It is compact, very reliable, durable, safe, easy to use and maintain. All this is relevant for PM-T. It doesn't feel like a plastic toy or a cheap alloy craft. This is a durable and reliable pistol that you can rely on. And here, in theory, much more powerful ammunition is needed than the 9mm PA traumatic cartridges currently produced, since even a new-made PM-T barrel can withstand significantly greater loads. But this question, unfortunately, is beyond the competence of those who carry their pistol to protect the life and health of themselves and their loved ones.

In my personal opinion, the PM-T pistol today is the best of the models presented on the Russian market of self-defense weapons, made on the basis of combat models with a steel frame. Having studied the advantages and disadvantages of various traumatic pistols and revolvers, I came to the conclusion that it is the PM-T pistol that meets all my requirements, namely: maximum reliability in all operating conditions; ease of use and maintenance; compactness and inconspicuousness when carried concealed; fairly high shooting accuracy at real self-defense distances; base - only a combat pistol; frame material - only steel; historical value.

My acquaintance with this pistol took place in mid-June. Like most PM-Ts, the specimen I selected bore signs of time and use in the form of a worn coating and small scratches on the thermoset plastic handle. However, this only added ambiance and charisma to the weapon. "A well-worn", this Makarov pistol was made in 1972 with excellent quality and from excellent weapon steel. The first impression of the pistol is a real, normal weapon, a reliable and proven Makarov pistol! And even the fact that this is already a PM-T, shooting rubber bullets, did not add a fly in the ointment. The pistol is simple, but at the same time elegant in its own way, with the pronounced charisma of a high-quality Soviet weapon from the times of a great country that no longer exists. Beautiful black bluing, a wide “anti-glare” bar, a large “beard” in the front part of the bolt-casing... The trigger, safety and ejector have the original red bluing, which is typical for Soviet PMs. Even a rather narrow handle does not seem uncomfortable when you are holding not a cheap plastic craft of modern consumer goods, but a reliable and high-quality Soviet pistol made of excellent weapon steel.

On the same day, shooting was carried out with powerful cartridges, which showed excellent accuracy at a distance of seven meters. The automation worked perfectly. However, subsequently, due to the dispersion of cartridge power and in order to ensure reliable extraction even with low-power ammunition, it was necessary to replace the original return spring with a slightly weaker one. The sound of the shot is very loud and biting, and the recoil is reminiscent of shooting from a combat PM. For shooting, I used the most powerful available 9mm PA cartridges - AKBS Magnum for Inna. In combination with such cartridges, the PM-T pistol is a very effective self-defense weapon. The shooting results give no reason to doubt this. In general, you want to shoot a pistol again and again. Of course, currently on the self-defense weapons market you can buy more powerful pistols with much more capacious double-row magazines, such as Groza-02 with a v4 barrel of 9mm PA caliber without pins and “teeth” in the barrel or the Slovak Grand Power T-12 chambered for 10×28T. However, the quality of steel, manufacturing and surface treatment of the PM-T produced during the USSR, in my personal opinion, is superior to Groz pistols. In addition, the v4 barrel variants are mostly sold at extremely inflated prices, given their lack of any historical value. The T-12 pistol is really successful, but its very large dimensions, especially its width, in most cases do not allow this weapon to be used for concealed carry.

The PM-T pistol is bought by ordinary citizens for self-defense purposes and by collectors, lovers of weapons in general and the Makarov pistol in particular. But today, among the samples of rubber pistols made from combat pistols made in Soviet times available for purchase by ordinary citizens of the Russian Federation, there are several quite interesting models. These are Leader, Leader-M and MP-81, made from pistols. APS-M and MP-355, made from Stechkin automatic pistols. However... All TT-based pistols have too many changes, which minimizes their historical value. All of them require some amount of modification for reliable operation and at least approximate compliance with the historical original. The situation is similar with the APS-M pistol, which, moreover, due to the design of the new barrel, which tears rubber balls, is simply a working model of the APS, but not a self-defense weapon. The MP-355 pistol is devoid of some of the shortcomings of the APS-M, but at the same time it does not have all the original marks and numbers, which again minimizes its historical value.

Against this background, the PM-T pistol looks like the best choice. It is valuable as a collector's item, and at the same time, as a reliable self-defense weapon. It is pleasant to hold in your hands and pleasant to shoot. The PM-T is convenient for concealed carry, either in a holster on the belt or under the arm, or in a belt bag. It is quite light and unburdensome. It has the largest selection of cartridges that can be purchased at any gun store throughout the country. For me personally, PM-T is, first of all, part of the history of a great country of which I am proud, despite everything remaining my Motherland. Until the citizens of Russia have been given back their legal right to own and carry combat short-barreled rifled weapons - pistols and revolvers that fire live cartridges with solid bullets, and Makarovs, Glocks, Walters, Colts and Smith-Wessons, and the Makarov traumatic pistol have not appeared on the shelves of gun stores is one of the best examples of self-defense weapons available to ordinary citizens.

History of the development of the traumatic Makarov Pistol

The development of the Makarov resulted from a competition between several engineers to create a pistol for the military. Nikolai Makarov's design was partly based on the German Walther PP, which gained great popularity due to its simplicity, ease of use and exceptional reliability compared to other products. As a result, the Makarov pistol was released in 1949.

As for the traumatic version, it does not have its own history of creation, because the process of creating the traumatic PM did not include any fundamentally new technologies. The pistol itself was first introduced in 2004 and was the result of the evolution of non-lethal self-defense weapons in Russia. The Traumatic PM was one of the first pistols designed to fire a rubber bullet and created in Russia.

general information

It is a semi-automatic pistol with magazine-fed ammunition. It is ideal for shooting at close ranges. The ammunition is manufactured based on its 9-gauge combat version. The manufacture of any version of the Makarov pistol occurs as follows. The rifled barrel is being replaced with a smooth one with a partition. In addition, the design is complemented by weakened grooves, which completely eliminate the possibility of using live ammunition.

During the first release, the sales market attracted enormous interest from both collectors and ordinary people. This was caused not only by the fact that the workmanship was similar to the original, but also by a new state bill, according to which the production of weapons for civil self-defense was prohibited.

Description of design and equipment

In design, the PM-T differs from a real weapon only in its barrel. There is a pin near the chamber of the traumatic gun that covers about 35% of the barrel, while it is devoid of rifling and tapers at the end. Structurally, the Makarov Traumat pistol looks like this:

  1. Manual safety, ejector, firing pin, bolt.
  2. Trigger guard, barrel and frame.
  3. Double action trigger.
  4. Bolt frame return spring.
  5. Shop.
  6. Shutter delay of the casing.
  7. Handle with screw.

The most important thing about the PM-T is that all parts are made of high-quality Soviet-era steel, the weapon has original numbered parts and bluing. Since PM trauma equipment can only be purchased secondhand for a long time, there is no exact information about the configuration. All that is known for certain is that, in addition to the weapon itself, the box contained one magazine, instructions and a cleaning rod.

Repair

After a week or month of use, even PM may require maintenance. Any weapon can be disassembled either in parts or completely. In this case, you should follow the rules:

  1. If cleaning or lubrication is needed, disassembly should be partial. If the Makarov requires repair, a complete disassembly is necessary;
  2. So that the process does not cause trouble, you should get a flat surface, which is perfect for a chair;

When disassembling, all parts of the weapon must be placed in strict sequence.

How the gun works

Semi-automatic shooting is possible due to the free movement of the bolt frame. USM - double action, trigger - with warning. The approximate trigger force is 2.1-4.6 kg for single shooting or using self-cocking. But the trigger guard of the combat PM was always characterized by a smooth movement, and the traumatic analogue is not inferior in this regard.

In addition to the pin to prevent firing of real ammunition, there are grooves in the barrel that weaken it. They have no practical use: they are only required to comply with the law. Sights - an adjustable rear sight and a fixed front sight located on the bolt frame - in this case everything is the same as on a combat Makarov.

The magazine holds 8 rounds, and the magazine is secured with a spring-loaded latch. This mechanism is reliable, but the reload speed is lost, although in principle this is a justified move.

Performance characteristics

Since this is a civilian weapon, the traumatic weapon is inferior to the combat weapon:

Barrel length9.35 cm
Caliber9x22
Dimensions16.15x12.65x3.05 cm
Weight without loaded magazine0.73 kg
Bullet rangeup to 10 meters
Magazine capacity8 pieces

The “destructive force” criterion will depend on many factors, for example, on the area of impact, the physical health of the attacker and the clothes he is wearing, which is why this parameter is initially underestimated.

Used cartridges for traumatic Makarov

The original 9x18 ammunition was replaced with 9x22T. Structurally, they consist of a rubber bullet in the form of a ball in a metal sleeve. Muzzle energy is in the range of 30-110 J, taking into account the specific cartridge model.

Manufacturers write on ammunition packages what the muzzle energy of a rubber ball is, but this often becomes a trap for novice shooters who try to buy reinforced cartridges, albeit at a more expensive price. The bullet itself has weak ballistic characteristics: the ball’s killing power quickly decreases after just a few meters. Also, some of the manufacturing companies do not have enough gunpowder, this is either a feature of a certain brand, or a defect in a specific batch of cartridges.

Performance characteristics

Due to its focus on the civilian market, PM-T is inferior to the original:

Length161.5 mm
Barrel length93.5 mm
Height126.5 mm
Width30.5 mm
Weight without cartridges730 g
Magazine capacity8 rounds
Sighting range7 m
Effective range3m

The “effective range” parameter depends on a number of conditions, for example, on the area of impact, the physical build of the enemy and even the clothing he is wearing, and therefore is obviously underestimated.

Advantages and disadvantages of the pistol

Advantages and disadvantages

In addition to aesthetics, the appearance of the Makarov often helped only “by appearance alone,” since the Makarov traumatic pistol differs from a real analogue only in the factory inscriptions on the bolt frame and a slight narrowing of the barrel

Great value for people who collect weapons, as well as the quality of all components and mechanisms

Reliability of the PM - the weapon is almost trouble-free

The design, familiar to most people, greatly facilitated the operation and maintenance of the weapon.

In addition to the inexpensive cost at the beginning of sales, the maintenance was much cheaper in contrast to traumatic vehicles with similar characteristics

Inconvenient sight and poor shooting accuracy

The original PM spring was not well suited for shooting rubber bullets and often failed. It is almost impossible to correct this situation, therefore, as a rule, instead of it they installed the same MP654K pneumatic

The first models had a defect in the barrel, which often led to the cartridge case sticking during feeding. But the plant quickly responded and corrected this problem

Despite this, few people will be able to find a person who would be willing to part with the PM-T they once purchased at a price of less than 50 thousand rubles.

Pneumatic analogue

In the early nineties of the last century, the Makarov traumatic pistol was modernized to accept a reinforced cartridge. It received a double-row magazine and a staggered arrangement of cartridges. It was called PMM - modernized Makarov pistol. On the basis of the PM, the service IZH-71 was also developed for a shortened 9x17 cartridge.

Another analogue, the pneumatic PM, has a gas-cylinder firing system. It is intended for recreational shooting, as well as for gaining first skills in handling weapons.

The pneumatic PM is a pistol that is outwardly identical to its traumatic “brother.” This is the main reason that it is in great demand among users. But it was not only his appearance that made him popular. The PM pneumatics are made of excellent quality: they do not cause failures for a very long time.

Assembling and disassembling the pistol

The steps for disassembling a traumatic pistol are the same as in its combat counterpart:

  1. First you get the store.
  2. Remove the weapon from the safety catch.
  3. Pull the bolt carrier to make sure the chamber is empty.
  4. Fold the trigger guard down and move it to the left.
  5. Pull the bolt carrier all the way again, lift it by the rear and move it forward to remove it from the frame.
  6. The trigger guard returns to its original position.

This is quite enough for cleaning; assembly is performed in the reverse order.

Tips for caring for a traumatic pistol

There are a number of recommendations that will be useful to all people who already have a traumatic Makarov or just want to buy it:

  • No one knows how many times the weapon was fired before it was converted into a trauma weapon. After purchase, all elements and components of the gun are inspected to determine defects. Many of them are easy to see for yourself. If you have serialized parts, you will need to write an application for factory repair.
  • The return spring needs to be replaced. “Native” does not work well with rubber cartridges.
  • The statement “USSR quality” is true, but still the Makarych pistol requires regular cleaning.
  • You can get used to the ergonomics of the handle only through practical shooting.
  • Shops made in the 50-80s. last century, are better suited for PM-T.
  • It is not recommended to fire the pistol too often. The barrel design was deliberately weakened to comply with Russian legislation. Because of this, the service life of the pistol is low, and frequent shooting can lead to a rupture of the barrel.

And the last main rule, which applies to everyone: compliance with safety precautions when operating weapons!

Repair

Any breakdowns that occur in the pistol, as well as their independent elimination, are dangerous to health, since poor-quality repairs are fraught with a sudden failure of the weapon, with all the ensuing consequences. Therefore, it is highly recommended that in case of any malfunctions, contact the services of specialists.

Do I need permission?

Definitely yes! You can obtain permission from the licensing department. You should contact the branch that is located closer to your home. The entire obtaining process can be found at the OLRR office.

Before you start collecting all the necessary documents to obtain a license, you should find out who can apply for a license. The blacklist includes a whole group of people assigned to a special list:

  1. Minors;
  2. Persons who have at least one criminal record;
  3. Persons who have been charged with an administrative violation more than twice;
  4. People without registration;
  5. Having serious complications, mental disorders, vision problems;
  6. Persons who do not have the necessary documents.

If you do not find yourself on this list, you have the right to obtain a permit. The process itself consists of several stages that everyone must go through:

And first you will need to undergo a medical examination at the hospital. For such purposes, you can contact either a paid institution or a free one. The mechanism is very similar to what happens when applying for a driver’s license. Here you will need to purchase a certificate form for 300 rubles. To fill it out, you will have to visit neurological and drug treatment clinics.

To submit an application to the OLRR, you need to prepare a number of documents:

  1. An official appeal written according to a special form;
  2. Copy of personal document;
  3. Certificate from the hospital;
  4. 3x4 photographs.

Once your application has been approved, you will be provided with the following:

  1. Referral for weapons handling training;
  2. Receipt for payment of state duty;
  3. Direction to the local police officer.

Training in proper handling of weapons is a special test that includes 10 questions. It is worth noting that in order to pass the test successfully, you need to answer 9 out of 10 questions correctly. 2 attempts are provided: one free, the second paid.

When contacting a district police officer, an individual interview and inspection of housing according to registration are required. To register a weapon, you must have a safe or cabinet at home with a two-turn lock. After the local police officer is convinced that your living space is completely safe for storing weapons, he will put his stamp.

After submitting the necessary documents, you will need to wait about a month, after which you should be notified that the application has been approved. After this, you can purchase a traumatic PM with peace of mind. If you receive a refusal and do not agree with it, you can always challenge it in court. It is worth noting that according to the law, you can purchase PM only up to 2 units with complete peace of mind.

Pistol modifications

In fact, it is not entirely correct to call the following models modifications. These are, rather, versions of the pistol with some improvements and modifications. For example: improving the quality of parts processing, reducing the number of pins in the barrel, etc.

The latest version is PM 17T.

Traumat mr 79 9tm

Traumatic pistol MP-79-9TM,

also known as Makarych traumatic pistol. It is produced by the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant and differs from the previous model Izh-79-9T by having smaller protrusions, which, according to the plant, allows when firing 50 J cartridges to produce an output of 70 J.

Pistol MP-80

One of the most modern models of traumatic PM, produced by the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant. The key difference is the use of a cartridge of increased power (compared to 9 mm PA) in 45 Rubber caliber. Another feature is that due to the larger size of the ammunition, the magazine capacity is 6 rather than 8 rounds.

Occasion

What was the reason for the introduction of a new pistol? Of course, the negative qualities of the predecessor. The Soviet army was armed with the TT pistol. However, the standard weapons had weak destructive power. The cartridges with which the pistol was equipped were inferior to the German ones (9 mm) used in the Parabellums and Walters. The long length of the TT pistol was also a negative side. However, the most important thing is that the lack of a normal safety mechanism did not make it possible to constantly carry weapons. The simple trigger mechanism was designed for single action. The insecurity repelled everyone, since it was possible to remove the pistol from the safety by accident.

At the same time, German models had a double-action mechanism, which reduced the chance of being hit almost to zero. Interestingly, the more advanced safety system did not at all interfere with firing shots. It was necessary to adopt a new model. Unfortunately, this was difficult under military conditions, so the next pistol, the PM, was put into service after the war. By the way, the Germans also did not like conventional pistols; they preferred submachine guns. The first ones were used only when absolutely necessary, for example when the cartridges ran out. During quite a long period of use of the TT, the requirements that the new model must meet, as well as the concept of its use, were developed. Therefore, we can say that the PM pistol could only appear thanks to the TT.

Requirements

One of the first production samples was the 1949 PM. It had some distinctive features, such as shaped frames, a protrusion to the right of the trigger guard, and a magazine with an oblique protrusion, which was needed to turn off the bolt stop. This was not the final sample.

The requirements for the pistol were as follows:

  • The new weapon should have small dimensions to make it more convenient to use at short distances. The mass should also be kept small for the same reason.
  • The trigger mechanism must work without cocking the hammer, which takes a lot of time.
  • Great destructive power of the bullet, which is necessary for combat. And also the greatest safety during use and reliability of operation under various combat and weather conditions.

Shot

Each copy is supplied with a spare magazine, holster, wiper and strap. In order for the PM pistol to fire, you must press the trigger with your index finger. In this case, the trigger will strike the firing pin, which, in turn, will break the primer in the cartridge. As a result, the powder charge, when ignited, forms a large amount of gases. The bullet under their pressure will be thrown out of the barrel channel. The bolt, also under gas pressure, moves back, compressing the return spring. The reflector sleeve is thrown out.

The bolt, moving to the extreme rear position, turns the hammer back, putting it on cocking, and then, under the influence of the return spring, moves forward again. While moving, he pushes out the next cartridge from the magazine, sending it into the chamber. The bore is closed by a blowback bolt. For the next shot, you must release the trigger and press it again. This way you can shoot until the magazine's cartridges are completely used up.

Automation

You can shoot spherical steel bullets from it. This happens due to the energy of compressed gas supplied from a cylinder, which is placed in the store. These pneumatic bullets are easy to load. Replacing the cylinder is also not a problem. Although, according to some users, the screw mechanism for screwing in is not very convenient, this is understandable: when this pistol was created, hardly anyone had any idea about such a concept as a “lever puncture.”

In addition, the pneumatic PM is very easy to use and repair. Its body, made of metal, is least susceptible to any damage.

Makarov Umarex

The model is made of light alloy. The gas cylinder is installed in the handle. The weight of the can is standard, 12 g. The model is one of the most popular in Russia. The difference from the original PM can be called a slightly different design of the store, due to the appearance of the cylinder. The disassembly scheme is not completely copied, but is quite similar to the combat one. It is possible to fire both self-cocking and cocking, which is also a big plus. These functions are also available on the combat PM.

The main advantage is the soft and predictable descent, which is convenient for absolutely everyone. Good accuracy and accuracy of shots are also a big advantage. At a distance of 3 meters the spread is about 10 mm. This model is recommended to be purchased by those for whom it makes no difference whether it is similar to the original or not.

Newbies should also pay attention to Makarov Umarex

Pneumatic

On the shelves you can find not only traumatic weapons. The Makarov (PM) pneumatic pistol is also quite popular. But it's not that simple. If PM-T is the leader among traumatic ones, then among pneumatic ones it is impossible to identify a clear leader.

IZhmekh Baikal MR-654K is made on the basis of IZH-71, which belongs to the PM-shaped. It is durable and reliable, its characteristics and appearance are as close as possible to a combat pistol. This is what distinguishes it from other models. Shooting can be carried out both with cocking and self-cocking, just like the original.

It is precisely for its similarity to a combat pistol that this air pistol (PM) became popular in Russia. It’s interesting that thanks to this quality, you can use it to practice how to handle a real PM. The model has the tightest trigger, which cannot be considered a disadvantage or advantage, since this guarantees the absence of an accidental shot and at the same time interferes with firing. The bullet's flight speed is also encouraging; initially it is about 115 m/s. Despite some shortcomings that can be eliminated or gotten used to, IZhmekh Baikal MR-654K is the best pneumatic PM in Russia.

Gas

In addition to the samples described above, others are also popular. The gas pistol PM IZH-79-8 is the leading one among this type of PM-shaped. The design is as close as possible to the original, which is the main positive side. The parts on which pressure occurs as a result of the shot are made of steel, which increases service life. A sleeve is pressed into the thin barrel to increase gas pressure. Also, everything is aimed at making the model impossible to convert into a combat model, namely, some parts of the pistol are weakened, the bushing does not allow the use of cartridges. The caliber is 8 mm, the firing range of the aerosol cloud is about 3 m. Good performance cannot but please users.
