SKHP SVD Dragunov sniper rifle, watered (7.62x54, OS-SVD IZH-164 SB-03)

Description of the SKH-SVD Dragunov rifle (7.62x54, Izhmash IZH-164 SB-03)

The availability of a cold Dragunov rifle is one of the Important principles followed by the Kalashnikov Concern.
Now, to create interesting video clips, you don’t need to call expensive pyrotechnicians, but just buy a cooled SVD and in a prepared place you can start shooting interesting videos.

Sniper rifles straight from the USSR are remembered by the world for their lethality, bullet speed, accuracy, excessive strength and ability to work even after the most hellish operating conditions, be it mud or water. In addition to military purposes, the rifle was often used for sporting and hunting purposes. To this day, this weapon is in service with more than 25 countries around the world.

In our store we present a safe, or rather watered-down version of a rare sample. The specimen was secured by adding several pins to the barrel.

At the same time, it was possible to maintain the complete assembly and disassembly of the product without additional changes.

Manufacturers left the rifle with a native caliber of 7.62 mm x 54 mm (noise) , and light-noise imitation cartridges of 7.62x54R caliber are suitable as ammunition.

The magazine was also left untouched; the original configuration includes a steel magazine for 10 rounds without the need for additional expansion.

Even taking into account the fact that the weapon is cooled, the cartridges fly out of the receiver and at the moment of firing, the powder gases create a fiery pop and smoke in exact similarity with the SVD combat series, which will allow you to immerse yourself in those times and hear the true sound of that rifle.

The SHP SVD Dragunov sniper rifle has a semi-automatic firing mode, which means that after the shot there is no need to pull the shutter. At the same time, the rate of fire is competitive and amounts to 30 rounds per minute. But according to the law, you can shoot from cold weapons at specially designated firing ranges.

The stock and fore-end in this series are made of black plastic, which creates a pleasant sensation during tactile contact with the rifle itself and does not slip or fly out when firing. The cheek pad is removable and consists of a pillow and a plastic base. The body is made of weapons-grade metal in black.

The size of the rifle is rather large and is 1230 mm in length and 170 mm in height, which solves the problem of carrying it, because with such dimensions you can use both weapon cases and covers that you will find on the website. The only thing worth knowing is that you need to have a certificate of conformity with you when traveling by public or private transport. The weight of the product is 4.0 kg and is not felt when carried.

Unfortunately, it was not possible to find official information about this unique development of German gunsmiths. On the company’s website, so far there are only the already familiar “Airsoft versions” of the Dragunov rifle of 6 mm caliber with an energy of 2.7 Joules. I had to turn to a more informed source - I bring to your attention an article by Ilya Shaidurov, slightly supplemented with illustrations.

This year, the Munich company MWM Gillmann GmbH made its debut at the IWA-2016 exhibition. However, she is far from a newbie in the arms business, and a number of her developments have attracted attention. One of them is a new and very high-quality pneumatic replica of the Dragunov sniper rifle, called SVD and distinguished by a high degree of realism and a rather unconventional internal structure.

The company MWM Gillmann GmbH was founded in the capital of Bavaria in 2009 by entrepreneur Dmitry Gilman, a native of the former USSR. Obviously, for this reason, the company focuses on pneumatic replicas and models of Soviet and Russian small arms. The program is complemented by various models of gas weapons, as well as numerous weapon accessories.

Initially, the Bavarian company was engaged in the production of parts and components for other manufacturers, but over time it also developed its own designs, some of which are unique. For example, MWM Gillmann GmbH is the only manufacturer of gas revolvers made entirely of high-quality steel, such as the STEEL COP - S model.

They are far from cheap, but the demand for them is very high due to the boom in self-defense products in Germany today.
The new pneumatic copy of the Dragunov sniper rifle is also extremely interesting, complementing the various airsoft versions of the SVD and SVD-S offered by the company for BB balls of 6 mm caliber with several options for drives and stocks (from polymer of different colors or from wood).
Unlike previous models, it has a caliber of 4.5 mm and fires Diabolo-type bullets. In order to make it more realistic, the creators of the rifle used an unconventional principle: the energy source (compressed CO2) is located in the bolt...

... and the bullet is placed in a special cartridge case simulator.

And they themselves go to an almost full-fledged “SVD” store.

Therefore, operations such as loading a magazine, reloading and ejecting a “fired” cartridge outwardly look exactly the same as in military weapons.

Pumping directly into the bolt saves time because you don't have to pump each cartridge one at a time. In addition, the location of the energy source in the bolt is beneficial from an aesthetic point of view, since the gas tank is hidden inside - very often a protruding screw for fixing the gas cylinder spoils the appearance of the weapon and violates its authenticity. A pleasant impression was also left by the quality of workmanship and the closeness to the original of the wooden parts of the SVD, which is one of the primary concerns of the creators of this replica.

A more or less similar approach is practiced by very few manufacturers, like, again, the German one. Basically, they try to limit themselves to only some external stylization (see “Pneumatic copies of military weapons”).

Brief history of the prototype

The 7.62-mm SVD sniper rifle (GRAU index 6V1) was designed by Izhevsk gunsmith designer Evgeniy Fedorovich Dragunov and adopted by motorized rifle units of the Soviet Army, border troops, special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the KGB in 1963. Somewhat later, in 1967, the designers of NII-61 V.M. Sabelnikov, P.F. Sazonov and V.N. Dvoryaninov created a special 7.62-mm sniper cartridge 7N1 for the SVD.

The standard optical sight for it is PSO-1 (1P43), developed by A.I. Ovchinnikov and L.A. Glyzov. It has 4x magnification and is equipped with a special luminescent plate that allows you to detect sources of infrared radiation. In addition, the Dragunov rifle can be equipped with night vision sights, such as NSP, NSPU, NSP-3, etc.

The SVD is the world’s first specially designed self-loading army sniper rifle, which has no equal in reliability and unpretentiousness. It was produced at the Izhmash production association (today the Kalashnikov concern), which in the 60-70s supplied an average of approximately 3,200 of these rifles annually.

Their production continues today, including in the hunting version “Tiger”. The SVD is in service in more than 60 countries around the world, and copies have been produced in Bulgaria, Hungary, India, Iraq, Iran, China, Poland and Romania.

At the International Military-Technical Forum "Army-2017", the Kalashnikov Concern presented the Chukavina self-loading sniper rifle (SHF), which is replacing the well-deserved "Dragunovka".
