T-98 Kombat is a Russian SUV designed for driving through combat zones. The creator, Dmitry Parfenov, incorporated a huge margin of safety into his creation, ensuring the car’s long-term popularity. Look at the photo, isn't this a true Russian car?
The development engineer managed to combine the convenience of an all-wheel drive SUV, “tank” armor and the comfort of a luxury limousine in one device. Thanks to its design and unique characteristics, the car has found fans beyond the borders of Russia. For example, in Dubai, these cars are very popular as the main transport of choice for both eminent businessmen and their personal security service. The UAE Army considered it too much of a luxury to purchase such vehicles.
Many are trying to find common ground between this car and the American Hummer. But don't be deceived. These are two fundamentally different devices that have different purposes for creation and use. According to many experts, Kombat copes well with Hammer's tasks. And it would be more rational to support the domestic manufacturer, especially since there is a reason for it.
History of the development of the T-98 Combat
Initially, the creators planned to make a harsh SUV for everyday Russian realities. Later, taking into account the criminal component of our everyday life, they thought about producing the most versatile, comfortable SUVs with a daring design on the outside and a bit of chic on the inside.
The T-98 Kombat was designed as a powerful armored car, and today is only available in armored form. Large-scale production of cars of this brand began in 2000. Even then they gained popularity in the “higher” strata of society.
Over time, the appearance of the T-98 Kombat vehicle has undergone changes; in the photo below you can see the main innovations in the design.

The engineers who worked on the creation of this machine thought out to the smallest detail all the needs of those inside. There is an extended hatch that can be used for emergency evacuation of people. This hatch can serve as a functional platform for different types of weapons. The radiator is equipped with armored shutters, the opening and closing of which is regulated on the side panel in the cabin.

Types of protection:
- Pro - protection class B2/C2 will protect everyone inside the vehicle from shots from weapons designed to hit personnel at close range. This class will be quite sufficient to protect the body from mechanical damage, such as concrete and metal structures.
- Hi.Pro has enhanced protection properties. A car made of such material will provide protection at the B5/C4 level and will protect against shots from most machine guns used in the armies of the world. Also against SVD bullets with a steel core. Few manufacturers produce cars with such protection.
- Hi.Pro.S - has the highest level of protection, suitable for extreme areas. Additional reinforcement has been installed along the entire perimeter of the T-98 Combat, and the openness of the areas with the highest probability of destruction has been reduced. Protection class - B6/C5. The glass here is sealed to 100 mm thick. He is not afraid of even 12.7 mm saws, mines and special anti-tank rifles.
There are also two trim levels - “VIP” and a patrol car. They differ from each other in interior trim materials, electrical systems and instrumentation systems. The VIP version uses only natural and expensive materials: leather, wood, high-quality paints and varnishes for external and internal painting.

Today, there are no analogues to the famous Russian SUV with such technical characteristics and indicators. Thanks to the torque characteristics with a good reserve of traction at low speeds, a very heavy unit begins to fly forward without much stress.
For 100 km you will have to spend 25-30 liters of fuel when driving on natural off-road terrain for the Battalion. Cross-country ability directly depends on correctly selected tires. They here have a 17-inch radius, which, together with the shock-absorbing system, ensures comfortable movement and minimal shaking inside the car.
It uses an all-wheel drive system, which itself is simple and quite reliable. AUTOCAD works closely with many companies, including General Motors, which supplies gasoline engines, and Duramax, which manufactures and supplies diesel engines.
Design overview
The platform is based on the second generation American heavy full-size pickup truck Chevrolet Avalanche.
But in many publications the T-98 is classified not as a full-fledged SUV, but as a sedan with increased ground clearance.
The reason is that it does not have a spar type frame. Instead, the load-bearing function is performed by an all-metal body made entirely of armored steel. This is precisely the only difference between the Kombat and classic jeeps and puts it in line with crossovers - if not for the phenomenal cross-country ability even on heavy soils, which SUVs have never dreamed of.
The new model is available in sedan, station wagon and limousine body styles.
In the first case, the interior is designed for 5 seats, in the second for 5, 9 or 12. But the size of the wheelbase (except for the limousine) of 3500 mm does not change: the car has a length of 5350, and the height and width are 2100 mm. Ground clearance – 315 mm.
Comfort in any conditions?
Exactly! The designers have thought through all the little details, which makes the car simply incomparable. The salon is equipped with a minibar with a refrigerator. You can store whatever you want there. The large trunk will accommodate everything you need for spending time in the field. Of course, driving such a defiant car along city streets, you can notice many completely different reactions.
Soft, folding seats are another “plus” of the T-98 Combat. These seats can simply be unfolded and spent the night on them. Tinted armored windows will protect you even when fired from a grenade launcher. The manufacturers did their best when coming up with this project and ensuring the comfort of all passengers.

The final price will depend on the set of characteristics you choose. Each car is made personally, to the buyer's order. In the desired color and configuration. That is why you will not find two completely identical T-98 Kombat in the world.
Prices start from 10 million rubles for the simplest and most unpretentious model. But even this option will have ideal cross-country ability and all the advantages of this armored SUV. You will have to pay extra for luxury: the higher the protection class, the more materials must be spent. And this is an additional waste of money. The difference in interior materials is also expressed in monetary terms. The interior is made of genuine leather and wood - the most expensive modification that can be.
