Insignia of the Ground Forces

The insignia of the Russian Ground Forces are shoulder straps, sleeve insignia, and emblems on the corners of the collar. Shoulder straps differ in color according to their functional purpose (for dress, casual and field uniforms). On the left sleeve of the uniform, at the shoulder, a sleeve insignia is worn indicating membership in a military unit, formation or military district (a little higher there may be a “MS” patch for military personnel performing duties as part of peacekeeping forces abroad). On the right sleeve of the uniform, at the shoulder, is worn the sleeve insignia of the ground forces or branch of the military, or a sign of belonging to a unit or unit. The emblems of the branch or branch of the military are worn in the corners of the collar - golden color on the dress and everyday uniform of all military personnel, steel (gray) color on the field uniform.

Combat and numerical strength of the Ground Forces

This military equipment is a self-propelled artillery gun, which is mounted on the BTR-80 chassis. SAO 2S23 “Nona-SVK” and is designed to destroy enemy personnel, as well as artillery and mortar equipment. This equipment is also capable of hitting armored enemy targets and fire fortifications with command posts. It is worth noting here that thanks to the universal design of the Nona-SVK, its shooters have the opportunity to conduct aimed fire virtually without any training.

Humvee

It is impossible not to mention the Humvee (Humvee - “highly mobile multi-purpose wheeled vehicle”) - an American army all-terrain vehicle, which is in service mainly with the US Armed Forces, as well as the armed forces and civil services of some other countries. The vehicle has high cross-country ability and is suitable for air transportation and landing. The Humvee has been modified several times to serve in the Gulf and Somalia wars, Afghanistan and Iraq. More than 300,000 of these vehicles operate in the world's armies today. It has a civilian version - Hummer.

5) Iskander missile system (OTRK).

Engine type: Diesel, 4-stroke, water-cooled, with turbocharging, direct fuel injection and air cooling in the turbine.

Number of cylinders: 8.

Maximum torque: 1400 Nm.

Power: 500 hp

Iskander is a family of military mobile missile systems created on the basis of the Kamaz chassis or the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT). The chassis used on it depends on the modification of the Iskander.

The main task of the Iskander is to hit small-sized and area targets with its warheads in the depths of enemy troops. For example, the enemy's main targets may be infrastructure facilities, communications centers, missile defense systems, aircraft, command posts and fortifications. It is worth noting here that the range of hitting a target with a missile as part of the complex is 50 kilometers.

B-52 Stealth Bomber

American multifunctional heavy ultra-long-range intercontinental strategic bomber-missile carrier from Boeing, which has been in service with the US Air Force since 1955. Back then, they were ahead of their time and even today they are still economical and in demand as large bombers. The Air Force plans to keep the B-52 in service until 2045, which means they've been flying for more than 80 years—an amazing time for air transport.

Lockheed C-130 Hercules

The main military transport aircraft of the USA, NATO countries and several other countries. As of 2014, it is the most common military transport aircraft in the world. The variety of Hercules aircraft flying today have been manufactured by Lockheed Martin since 1959. This aircraft is suitable for search and rescue operations, as a transport vessel, and can also serve as an aerial refueling aircraft. The HC-130H is also used to fight forest fires.

8) Military engineering vehicle - IMR-3M.

Engine type: Diesel four-stroke V-84MS.

Number of cylinders: 12.

Maximum torque: 3334 Nm.

Power: 840 hp

As a rule, in everyday life, bulldozers are used for heavy earthworks. But if you are in a combat zone and you need excavation work, then you simply cannot do without an armored bulldozer. For this purpose, our Russian troops have an engineering military vehicle - IMR-3M.

This equipment is completely sealed and can float underwater at a depth of up to 5 meters. In addition, IMR-3M has unique radiation protection. This special bulldozer is based and built on the T-90 tank. Thus, torque is more important for this powerful machine than the sheer amount of engine horsepower.

10) Tank "Armata".

Engine's type:

Diesel X-shaped power unit.

Number of cylinders: 12.

Maximum torque: from 3920 to 4521 Nm (depending on engine modification).

Power: 1200 hp (boosting up to 2200 hp).

The newest Russian tank was created on the basis of the Armata universal combat platform. The new technology was first demonstrated to the public in 2015 during the Victory Parade on May 9. Thanks to a powerful engine and a 16-speed automatic transmission (8 forward and 8 reverse gears), this military equipment based on the Armata platform has no analogues in the world. Armata-based tanks are the most powerful in the whole world.

Caspian monster

Another way to create a more economical mode of transport is to take advantage of the laws of aerodynamics. The fact is that planes flying close to the ground, where lift forces increase, create a “screen effect.” In 1964-1965, the design and creation of a unique, largest aircraft in the world was carried out - the KM ekranoplan, which was called the “Caspian monster” by foreign intelligence services. This vehicle had to fly very close to the ground, creating a cushion of air that lifted it. The giant ship could reach a speed of 450 km/h. In 1980, due to a pilot error, the KM crashed; there were no casualties, but no attempts were made to save it, because its weight was more than 150 tons, after which it sank. There were no operations to lift, restore or build a new copy of the CM

Structure of the Ground Forces

The Ground Forces include the following types of troops:

1. Motorized rifle troops 2. Tank troops 3. Missile troops and artillery 4. Air defense troops 5. Reconnaissance units and military units 6. Engineering troops 7. Radiation, chemical and biological defense troops 8. Signal troops

Organizationally, ground forces consist of platoons, companies, battalions, regiments, brigades, divisions, which are then subordinate to the control of the army or directly to the district. As of 2022, the ground forces consisted of 12 combined arms armies and 1 army corps with a total strength of about 280,000 people.

6) Engineering tank MTU-20 (Object 602).
