Differences between MP-654K and MP-654K with the “Chavez” beard

Clip differences

The MP-654 with a beard has a bored-out magazine (clip). See photo below.

The most important difference is the bolt carrier. The bolt frame of the MP-654 air pistol with a “Chavez” beard is converted from the frame of a Makarov combat pistol. The main differences are shown in the photo below.

Above - MP-654 with "Chavez" beard, below - MP-654 black standard

There is a “Beard” on the forged slide of the MP-654 pistol with a “Chavez” beard.

There is a groove for the ejector and an oval window, and there are also chamfers along the lower side edge of the shutter. Wide anti-glare approximately 3.5 mm.

The MP-654 has a textolite handle from the MP-79

The MP-654 bolt return spring with a beard is longer than the standard MP-654 spring.

Makarov MP-654K pistol with beard and ejector (tuning)

The MP-654K air pistol is manufactured at the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant. It is an exact copy of the PM combat firearm, since most of the parts are common to them.

Not every manufacturer of air guns can boast that their production is based on a military analogue. Thanks to such a high degree of similarity, Baikal (MR-654K) has gained wide popularity among weapon lovers.

The MP-654K has a working bolt lag, a similar procedure for disassembling and reassembling its combat "brother", and the same magazine latch. The store itself is an all-steel block that combines a cell for 13 steel round bullets, a gas cylinder and a valve.

Distinctive features of the “pumped up” model:

The basic configuration of the MP-654K does not include an ejector. In the pneumatic version it does not have any functionality, so the manufacturer decided not to overload the shutter with “extra” elements.

Our specialists with many years of experience in using weapons perform the highest quality work on turning the slot and installing the ejector itself. This gives the pneumatic an additional external similarity to the real PM; visually the pistols become as similar as possible; at a quick glance, it is almost impossible to distinguish which is the pneumatic copy and which is the real PM.

Installation of the so-called “Beard”. The pneumatic version has a clear bevel at the front of the bolt. This immediately catches your eye and reveals that the pistol is not genuine. In our store you purchase a factory-made gun with a beard. No build-up!

The pistol takes on a completely different look. You receive an almost complete copy of the combat PM, which will be an excellent gift or addition to the collection.

With a visual sense of the past, the hottest spots and combat missions.

Video review of the MP-371-03 signal pistol with a beard (PM Makarov):

— an updated model with a firing bolt. Outwardly, she is even more similar to her fighting progenitor.

The Makarov signal pistol with a beard is rumored to be made from defective traumatic pistols, such as IZH 79 and 81.

The body of the pistol, as before, is made of weapon-grade steel and covered with bluing, however, unlike the standard MP 371, the bearded MP 371-03 has a forged bolt

, which will make your gun more durable.

The pistol's magazine holds 8 rounds ; they can be either plastic or brass.

The delivery set with the alarm MP 371 03 includes 30 plastic cartridges.

The source of light and sound in the pistol is a standard Zhevelo capsule, but it is possible to use a more powerful capsule, for example the KV 21. After each shot, you must jerk the bolt and throw away the spent cartridge, so that the model shoots in single mode.

If you want to purchase a signal PM model with working automation, i.e. so that it shoots by self-cocking - in the Popadiv10.ru store there is an MP 371-03 with a beard and automatic for sale, it loads the cartridges into the chamber itself and throws out the spent cartridges (cartridges).

Like the combat and signal Makarovs, the fuse took its rightful place in the rear of the receiver.

If the shutter jerks after the last shot, the bearded Makarov stands on the shutter delay.

After installing a special barrel from this model, it becomes possible to launch signal flares.

The pistol has been updated and is loved by buyers who know a lot about weapons. In our store, as additional options, we have handles from combat PMs and muzzle cut simulators, which bring it as close as possible in appearance to a Makarov combat pistol.

Since the beginning of 2016, the Baikal plant has changed the method of production of valves; they have become cast with processing and light hardening.

Pistol PM-T: selection, purchase, debugging, operation

Pistol PM-T, manufactured at the Plant named after. Degtyarev, commissioned by the Nizhny Novgorod company AKBS, differs from the Makarov combat pistol in the following changes:

1. A new barrel has been installed.

2. To make it impossible to install the bolt of a PM-T pistol on the frame of a PM pistol, a pin is inserted into the PM-T bolt. Accordingly, there is a cut on the frame. This does not weaken the structure.

3. On the right wall of the frame there are stamps: ZiD, name of the pistol, caliber, state testing station, year of conversion of the pistol into PM-T.

4. Either the letter “T” or the number “1” is added to the pistol number. (requirement for ZiD)

When purchasing a PM-T pistol, you need a copy with a straight bore and no rust. Everything else is already completed after the purchase separately.

Next, the choice is based on the historical value of the PM-T pistol:

PM-T pistol (conditionally) of five types:

  • A. PM-T pistol - conversion from the so-called. “eared” PM, produced in 1953.
  • B. PM-T pistol - conversion from the so-called. “transitional” PM, produced in 1954 and partially in 1955
  • B. The PM-T pistol is a conversion from the PM, produced from 1955 to the mid-1970s
  • G. The PM-T pistol is a conversion from the PM, produced from 1976 to 1984.
  • D. (possibly) conversion from PM produced 1985-1989.

In the photo: the lower PM is “eared”, the middle one is “transitional”, the upper one has a frame from 1954-1994.

Very few G&D were released.

Almost all pistols will be used to one degree or another.

General choice for everyone: of course, you should not choose PM with traces of corrosion on the metal.

The advantages of the “eared” and “transitional” PM are only in their historical collection value.

They have many disadvantages:

  1. The trigger, trigger rod and trigger guards (the latter is not important) are not interchangeable with the main PM release, i.e. Spare parts are more expensive and more difficult to find.
  2. The disgusting nature of the trigger on these pistols: a long trigger stroke with minimal failure, or even the absence of it when firing from a preliminary cocking. Literally at the very end, a shot occurs, and when the trigger is pressed, the skin of the finger is practically pinched between itself and the frame - a rather unpleasant sensation, and it prevents the shot (although, of course, everyone’s fingers are different). It may turn out that there won’t be a shot, especially in self-defense mode. And you can completely forget about tempo shooting.
  3. The firing range of the pistols is unknown. But it is well known that it is advisable to change the return spring, which tends to shrink, every 3000 shots. As a result, the shutter begins to hit the frame, which leads to the formation of cracks either in the frame or in the shutter. This is a problem with all PMs from the 50s and 60s.
  4. Because of the “Walter” type of frame, they do not fit into all good molded holsters, and they don’t fit into plastic ones at all.
  5. Due to the lack of a groove on the bolt ridge, the trigger rod may fall into place.

Those. when choosing options A and B, you can only proceed from historical collection value, with rare shootings. (I'll take one for myself for this purpose)

The PM 55-mid-70s is distinguished by good quality parts, a soft, comfortable trigger, and excellent bluing quality. But the problem with point 3 above is also present.

The PM of the 70s is good because it has a reinforced lower part of the bolt (the so-called beard), which reduces the likelihood of cracks appearing in the bolt during large rounds with a shriveled return spring.

In fact, cases of cracks are rare, and 99.9% of the time they will not be found in the PM-T variant, because shooting range PMs with extremely large rounds were disposed of, those with cracks were disposed of even more so, and the bolt impulse on rubber bullets is less than that of 9x18, so Don't even think about cracks.

PM pistols of the 80s are good because the probability of a large shot is minimal, but they are bad because the quality of their bluing is worse than that of earlier ones, and also, in the 80s, the introduction of cast parts began, which are a priori less reliable, than those made by milling from forgings.

Well, in conclusion, for greater reliability, it is better to install the shutter delay on all PMs with a narrow, long reflector.
