It’s no secret that everyone’s favorite and most popular pistol in Russia, the MP-654k, is an almost complete copy of the legendary PM.
What adds a special charm is that its production was launched at the same plant as the combat model. But not only this distinguishes it favorably from other, mainly foreign, samples. Its main advantage is the material it is made from. It is completely made of steel, and is close to the original not only in appearance, but also in the design of components and mechanisms. And, nevertheless, the pneumatic version is still different from the combat version, even at first glance. And upon closer examination, even more so. The first thing that catches your eye is the complete absence of an ejector. In most cases, there is not even a groove for it. Next are notches on the handle, which are absent on the original. The abundance of sandblasting also distorts the picture. And, of course, the shape of the trigger guard.
Not all the inaccuracies that a connoisseur will have to put up with are listed here. And which we will bring into line with the classic look, after which the updated pistol will take its rightful place in your collection.

You should start by removing the notches from the handle
and factory sandblasting followed by leveling and grinding of the surface. This is followed by professional hot bluing in an alkaline solution, as a result of which the frame and slide of your pistol will acquire the noble appearance of a military weapon. The next step is to change the shape of the trigger guard from simple to curly. At this stage it is important to maintain the proportions and original design. Blueing is carried out using the same technology as in previous works.
Next, to complete the main part of the appearance of the pistol, it is necessary to carry out work on installing an ejector simulator. This is especially true for owners of the 32nd series, since in most samples the groove in the housing and bolt comes from the factory. Which does not have the best effect on the aesthetics of the pistol. In cases where there is no groove, our craftsmen cut it using existing equipment and install an ejector simulator.
The visible part of the ejector simulator, manufactured and installed in our organization, fully matches the appearance of the original. It is with it that your pistol will acquire the appearance of a military weapon! Also, to complete the classic look, you can install a “red spare parts”, or simply a milled trigger and trigger, an inflated bolt stop, and a hidden cylinder clamping screw.

After acquiring the appearance of a military weapon and a certain amount of shooting, a feeling appears that something is missing. And if this feeling appears, then you are on the right track. To improve performance, parts such as the barrel, barrel nut, barrel gasket, valve body, valve and seal should be replaced. Since the barrel installed at the factory is rifled, gas inevitably leaks along the rifling, bypassing the ball. The ball in such a barrel fits more tightly to the guide liner, which significantly reduces gas loss. And the extension, made in the format of a false silencer, allows you to extend the moment of impact of the gas on the projectile in time. As a result, the ball flies faster, further and, most importantly, more accurately! The advantage of a barrel with an extension over an extended barrel is that the false silencer can be unscrewed for ease of transportation.
The fluoroplastic gasket, unlike the rubber one, rubs closely against the valve body, which significantly reduces gas breakthrough.
The barrel nut is replaced along with the valve body. Nuts of our production
have two hooks that fit into the pattern grooves of the improved valve body. Thanks to this solution, the valve outlet and the barrel inlet receive maximum alignment. And the valve body itself is positioned without distortion.
Improved valve body
differs from the standard one by the presence of an adjusting screw for centering the ball relative to the axis of the barrel bore, two tracking grooves for the nut hooks and an increased volume of the expansion chamber. Thanks to the first two modifications, the magazine is precisely fixed in the shaft, as a result of which gas breakthrough is reduced. And the enlargement of the chamber is intended to compensate for losses due to the removal of gas into the cavity of the magazine storage.

The upgrade allows you to upgrade your weapon, increasing its energy characteristics. But even if these characteristics are left unchanged, then every owner will want to achieve clear and complex operation of the mechanisms. Unfortunately, manufacturers still have room for improvement in this regard.
The simplest manipulation for upgrading pneumatics is polishing the parts. The valve system must be disassembled to get to the front of the magazine head. It is this part that should fit closely to the barrel gasket. Most likely, the manufacturer deliberately left the possibility of a gas leak here in order to reduce the power of the weapon to the value required by law. The surface of the wall should become mirror smooth. Similar manipulations are performed with the rear wall.
As a result, the valve seat – magazine head – barrel system becomes more airtight. The contact surface between the head and the magazine frame is also polished. But in this case, you should not remove too thick a layer, otherwise the alignment of the barrel bore and the hole from which the ball comes out will be disrupted.
To increase the power of the gun, you can improve the valve itself. To do this, it is clamped in a vice. The central hole is broken by lightly tapping the core. It should turn from cone-shaped to straight. Then, using a 3.3 mm drill at low speeds, the valve is drilled out from the inside. The top part is chamfered with a 3.5 mm drill.
If the valve is clamped in a vice so that its side faces up, you can see three bypass holes. They are also drilled with a 2mm drill. By choosing the angle of the drill, you can ensure that the holes become oval. At the last stage, it is necessary to polish the side, and also file or upset the spring.
