The OF-93 smoothbore shotgun was developed on the basis of the famous Liberty pistol, used in World War II. The weapon is made according to the principle of modularity.
As its manufacturer presents it, it is a hunting farm weapon. The OF-93 “Farmer” single-shot shotgun is available in several modifications, which suggest its use in farm life for self-defense or hunting. Among the known modifications: OF-93-31, OF-93-31P, OF-93-31SH, OF-93-38.
With the barrel retracted, the gun is a 4-caliber rocket launcher. Unfortunately, at the moment, only imported missiles are available, the price of which ranges from 80 to 200 rubles. The lifting height of the sprocket is 120 meters, the range is 150 meters. Guaranteed 2000 rounds fired. At the same time, the device’s passport states what the maximum number of shots and what caliber can be fired.
General description of OF-93
The abbreviation "OF" means "farmer's weapon." This weapon was created after the advent of the farm law. The deputies considered that abandoned domestic agricultural lands should be revived by farmers-entrepreneurs, who, according to the lawmakers, were supposed to defend their property, including with weapons.
The OF-93 brand shotgun is considered a real hybrid of the engineering ideas of Russian gunsmiths. This is due to the fact that the purpose of a farmer’s gun is very versatile: replaceable barrel parts for 12 and 28 caliber charges are capable of firing conventional hunting ammunition and syringes, which farmers use to euthanize or vaccinate cattle.
The OF-93 “Farmer” shotgun with smooth-bore interchangeable barrels of 28 and 12 calibers works with standard hunting cartridges 70 mm long. It is possible to hunt or protect the territory with shot cartridges with plastic, paper, or metal casings of the appropriate caliber.
You can shoot with special flying syringes ShL-28 to vaccinate or immobilize wild and domestic animals. The “Farmer” 93 weapon can be equipped upon request with a barrel of 32, 28, 20, 16, 12 calibers. Farm weapons are also produced for export. The difference lies in the improved accuracy of combat, the protective coating of a number of components and parts, and the method of preservation for delivery to remote regions.
The highlight of the design is the modularity of this weapon. The barrel for firing 12 gauge cartridges is removed and the gun turns into a 4 gauge rocket launcher.
By the way, in addition to the signal cartridges themselves, at one time there were 4-caliber traumatic ammunition with a rubber bullet on sale, intended for the KS-23 “police” carbine and its civilian analogue “Selezen”. Unfortunately, now they are no longer on sale, since when using such cartridges, the OF-93 actually turns into a short-barreled self-defense weapon, which is prohibited by our legislation.
The Farmer is equipped with barrels for individual requests in calibers of 12, 16, 20, 28 and 32 mm.
The Farmer is manufactured in an export version; its distinguishing features are the increased quality of combat, a special coating that protects some elements, and the option of preservation when delivered to distant countries.
In the official version, the OF-93 model is presented as a smoothbore pistol with a single shot of 26 caliber with a butt and fore-end made of plastic or wood, which comes complete with 12- and 28-gauge barrels.
Wooden stocks are typical for the OF-93-01P variants, while steel stocks are installed on the OF-93-01 versions.
"Tulyak" - characteristics and scope of application
The basis of the new pistol was the OF-93 shotgun. Even externally, the Tuljak pistol strongly resembles a gun. This pistol was created with special situations in mind, when it would be simpler and easier for security forces to use such a single-shot pistol than the KS-23 carbine. Despite this, the “Tulyak” is a very rare weapon and few people know about it, even in law enforcement agencies.
In truth, some experts note the low effectiveness of Tulyak. This is due to the constant need to reload the weapon (waste of time) and poor accuracy of fire due to the short barrel. Moreover, the pistol cannot be equipped with any sights or tactical lights, which reduces its use.
Pistol "Tulyak" in firing position and with a folding barrel for reloading
But what plays in Tulyak’s favor is its versatility, which is similar to the OF-93. It can fire various types of 23 mm ammunition, including rubber bullets, Cheryomukha-7 and Siren-7 grenades. If you take into account these 2 ammunition, then with the help of a pistol you can quite easily disperse demonstrations and other types of aggressive public rallies that are not coordinated with the government.
Operating principle
When there is ammunition in the chamber, the barrel, designed in the signal version, is rotated until the locking mechanism bars align with the barrel grooves.
When the button of the OF-93-01 gun is cocked to the maximum extreme position, the mainspring is compressed, while the trigger is held on the sear in its original position. The key interacts with the locking lever, which ensures that the locking mechanism bars completely fit into the barrel grooves of the signal barrel. The descent in interaction with the sear from movement removes the latter from the state of engagement with the trigger. Under the influence of the mainspring, the trigger rotates on an axis and strikes the cartridge capsule, causing a shot.
As soon as the load on the trigger and the key is removed, they, together with the trigger, return to their original position, and the trigger is installed on the sear.
In order to remove a spent cartridge case from the OF-93-01 gun, the locking mechanism moves to the rearmost position, the barrel is rotated all the way, and the cartridge case is pulled out of the chamber using an extractor.

Design
The Farmer 93-01 shotgun consists of a handle and butt plate, which houses the trigger, a non-removable butt, a locking mechanism, a signal device, a quick-release barrel, a front sight and a flag.
Structurally, the Farmer 93-01 provides for the impossibility of firing if the barrel channel is not completely locked. The safety of using the Farmer 93-01 shotgun is supplemented with an automatic fuse that protects against sudden shots.
Modifications
The following models of Farmer guns are used:
- The OF-93-31P shotgun is produced at the Vyatsko-Polyansky Machine-Building Plant. The stock is made of wood, the forend is large.
- Models OF-93-31SH and OF-93-01 - manufactured by the arms factory in Tula, the Central Design Bureau of Apparatus Engineering (TsKBA). The butt is made of metal.
Since 1993, 17 modifications of this farm weapon have been produced, from the basic model OF-93-01 to OF-93-15, as well as models OF-93-31 and OF-93-38. These modifications were distinguished by different interchangeable barrels, including rifled barrels chambered for 5.6 mm, 7.62 mm, 9 mm cartridges - for firing hunting cartridges loaded with a bullet.
Farmer 93 is not tied to a specific gun, it looks unusual, in fact it is like a pistol. Inconvenient reloading. The gun has a fairly strong recoil with a 12 gauge and of course a small number of shots

The operating principle of the mechanism of this weapon is the same as that of many semi-automatic weapons, but it has its own specific device that allows you to shoot from cartridges with different charges.
The fact is that some of the gases escape into the barrel cylinder through two holes in the barrel wall. The diameter of the holes is made in such a way as to ensure normal operation of the bolt mechanism when firing from standard and Magnum cartridges.
There are no longer any additional parts that could contain the pressure of the powder gases, so you should constantly monitor the cleanliness of the two holes in the barrel.
Weapon operation OF-93 "Farmer"
28- and 12-gauge barrels are inserted into the barrel of the signal device and secured with a barrel rotation nut. The mainspring is cocked by directly cocking the key into the firing position. The cartridge case is pulled out of the chamber by an extractor. If the bore is not completely locked, the shot will not fire. To ensure safety from an accidental shot, an automatic safety device is installed.
After inserting the ammunition barrel into the chamber, the barrel is rotated until the grooves of the signaling device barrel align with the bars of the locking mechanism. When the key is cocked to its extreme position, the mainspring is compressed, while the trigger on the sear is held in its original position.
The locking lever interacts with the key, ensuring that the bars fit into the grooves of the barrel. The trigger, when moved, disengages the sear mechanism from the trigger. The mainspring turns the trigger on its axis and the cartridge primer is hit, resulting in a shot.
To remove the spent cartridge case, the locking mechanism must be moved to the rear extreme position and the barrel of the signaling device must be turned all the way. The extractor then pushes the cartridge case out of the chamber.
TOZ-106: technical characteristics
This gun is made on the basis of MTs-20-01. Total length - 804-820 mm. When folded for transport, the length is approximately 530 mm (no more). Weight with a magazine without cartridges is about 2.5 kg. The TOZ 106 stock is folding. Magazine length - 70 mm. Caliber TOZ-106 - 20 mm. The bolt action is bolt-on, the magazine holds 2 or 4 (sold separately) rounds. The stock is made of birch. Produced by TOZ (Tula Arms Plant).
TOZ-106 has the following characteristics:
- The barrel of the gun has a length of 250 mm. It is connected to the box by a press fit and secured with a pin. The gun has a rear sight and a front sight, allowing for targeted shooting.
- The TOZ-106 bolt is longitudinally sliding, has a rotation, and the bolt has a percussion mechanism. A trigger mechanism is mounted in the housing connected to the box. The force of pressing the trigger is not adjustable. The hammer is cocked when the bolt is opened. The weapon has a cocking indicator, which protrudes above the surface of the insert when the hammer is cocked, but if it is lowered, it sinks.
- The magazine is detachable, box-shaped, designed for 2 (4) cartridges, there are two latches located on the sides.
- The butt of this gun is made of metal, folding, and has a rubber butt pad. Installed on an axis, which is located in the bracket. The buttstock is secured in the folded position (for transportation) using a latch, which is located in the forend, and in the shooting position, the axle is located in the wedge grooves of the bracket.
Features of operation
Farm guns require some care. You will need to constantly monitor the reliability of fixing the butt plate with a screw and the barrel with a nut, and if necessary, tighten them. Before installing removable barrels, it is recommended to clean the bore of the signal device, especially if a signal flare was previously fired from it.
If the barrel does not close, check that it closes without the extractor. Barrel play is not a defect in the open position, since force locking occurs at the rear in the closed position.
Before using the gun in winter or in damp weather, all parts must be lubricated with a thin layer of wax or wiped with an oiled cloth. Before lubrication, the wax is melted in three parts of turpentine or mineral oil. To prevent misfires in winter, the firing pin socket and trigger mechanism must be wiped clean of summer grease, then these parts should be washed in gasoline and lightly coated with gun oil.

Sword: the noblest edged weapon
The same safety key
There are no analogues of this gun in the world. This can mainly be attributed to restrictions in the laws of many countries. For example, in the USA it is prohibited to produce civilian guns with a barrel length of less than 45.6 cm and 40 cm for rifled weapons. In England this figure is even higher – 61 cm.
Zeroing the OF-93 "Farmer" rifle
For guns with a 32, 28, 20, 16, or 12 gauge barrel, it is recommended to zero and control the accuracy of the fire. The procedure is carried out in a specialized shooting range. If there is no such shooting range nearby, you can carry out shooting yourself in a place that is safe for others, at non-extreme temperatures and in calm weather.
Shooting is carried out lying down or sitting from a rest position. The target should measure 1x1 meter. You need to aim at the aiming point. Which is marked in the middle of the target. Shooting is carried out from a distance of 20 meters, only three shots are fired. The cartridges are standard.
When checking, it is necessary to establish the coincidence of the average point of impact of the shot scree with the aiming point.
To determine the midpoint of impact, draw a horizontal line that cuts off 50% of the top and bottom holes, and a vertical line that cuts off 50% of the left and right holes. The intersection of these lines is the midpoint of the hit.
If the average point of impact deviates by more than 15 cm, you can improve combat accuracy in two ways:
- When shooting, take into account the amount of horizontal and vertical lead in advance. When the midpoint of impact deviates from the aiming point to the left, when firing, the lead is taken to the right. If a deviation to the right is detected, then when firing, the lead is taken to the left. The same principle applies to top-bottom deviations. The amount of lead corresponds to the distance between the aiming point and the midpoint of impact.
- The second way is to saw the side and top surfaces of the front sight. When the shot deviates downward, the front sight is sawed off from above; when it deviates to the right, the front sight is sawed off on the left; when it deviates to the left, the front sight is sawed off on the right. The amount of attachment is determined by the formula: A = (Bx0.47)/20, where A is the amount of attachment in millimeters, B is the amount of displacement of the average point of impact from the aiming point in millimeters. After filing, the OF-93 gun’s engagement is checked again.
The OF-93 “Farmer” shotgun can be considered convenient for transportation by hanging a gun bag on your belt. Taking into account the low cost of used weapons, it can be considered variably suitable for simple self-defense, and also to please cows with this certainly rare product, the practical value of which directly for hunting remains questionable.
The OF-93 shotgun is suitable for firing both smoky and smokeless powders using paper, metal or plastic cartridges. In this sense, it must be recognized as universal.
