Ukraine, one of the world's largest arms exporters, is preparing for the 23rd anniversary of its Independence

Against the backdrop of Russian aggression, which occupied the Ukrainian Crimea and provoked a bloody conflict in the Donbass, the country’s defense capability is becoming a key priority.

In this regard, we have prepared a selection of the best works of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex:

A state can achieve much more through diplomacy and a ballistic missile than through diplomacy alone.
Our country was forced to feel this situation fully and draw appropriate conclusions. As we see, concrete steps have been taken towards updating military technologies and increasing the efficiency of their use. Author:

TAR-21

What is it? TAR-21 (Russian name “Tavor”) is a modern Israeli-made assault rifle, developed for a 5.56x45 mm caliber cartridge. In fact, “Fort 221” is a replica of this weapon, just with a different name, although similar to the original one. The structural components and technical features of these models are almost identical.

The TAR-21 was adopted by the Israeli army back in 2004. Often on the international network you can come across information that the name of the weapon is associated with Mount Tavor, located in Israel.

There is a mention of it in the Old Testament. If we think about the weapon index, then most likely it means that the rifle was developed in the 11th century and intended for use in it. So far I have not heard any more logical arguments from anyone.

Obtaining permission to store and carry weapons

To obtain permission to store and carry weapons, you must collect (in the specified sequence) and submit the documents listed in the list to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (to the district or city departments of the licensing system - for smooth-bore weapons or to the department of the regional licensing system - for rifled weapons):

  1. 2 photographs 3x4 cm;
  2. a duplicate of the purchase permit with a note from the store about the sale of weapons or with a note on its re-registration in the manner prescribed by law;
  3. contract of insurance of civil liability to third parties (Instruction by order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs No. 622 of 08/21/98 - clause 2.10) - is issued by almost all insurance companies and brokers, the cost of the policy for 3 years is 51 UAH;
  4. payment order or receipt with a mark from the bank, post office or with the code of the transaction performed on the deposit of funds for the provision of the corresponding paid service;
  5. an application for a permit to store and carry weapons, which is written to the head of the internal affairs agency at the place of residence (for smooth-bore weapons - to the city or district department of internal affairs, for rifled weapons - to the department (department) of the regional department of the licensing system.

In theory, you will receive permission to store and carry weapons within 14 days from the date of application.

Assault rifle "Fort 221": a joint product of Israeli and Ukrainian gunsmiths

The Fort-221 assault rifle, the characteristics of which will be given in this article, is built on the basis of the Israeli TAR-21 rifle. Currently, this weapon is manufactured by a research and production association called “Fort”. This government agency of Ukraine is widely known both in Ukraine and in the CIS countries, as well as the European Union. First of all, thanks to his pistol “Fort-12”, as well as his new model “Fort-17”, in which the frame is made of special plastic materials.

Weapons without permission or license

There are a number of means that can be used for the purpose of self-defense, but do not require any permits; a weapons license is also not needed. However, you need to understand that such objects can cause irreparable harm to human health, which may be an excess of permissible self-defense and a reason for initiating criminal proceedings by the relevant authorities. Before using such products, you must carefully read the instructions for use and use only in cases of extreme necessity.

Gas cartridges

A completely effective means of self-defense, capable of cooling the ardor of a hooligan in a few seconds. Inside there is a tear or highly irritating gas/liquid (for example, red hot pepper extract with various additives).

Designed for self-defense against hostile people, aggressive dogs or wild animals. For use against the latter, cans with increased capacity and spray range are produced. When using, it is necessary to take into account the direction of the wind and the type of gas cartridge itself, since they differ structurally in the configuration of the jet. In some cases it may be an aerosol torch, in others it may be a directed jet of liquid.

Contact stun guns

Ukrainian legislation does not contain prohibitions or restrictions on the purchase, storage and use of contact stun guns for self-defense. This means that this type of weapon does not require any approval documents or licenses.

What do you need to get a weapons permit?

A characteristic feature of these devices is the need for direct contact. The damaging element is electric current. The target is in shock. All experiments carried out prove that the device belongs to the class of “non-lethal” weapons, and traces of its use disappear in the range from 2 hours to 2 days.

Airguns of limited caliber and low bullet speed

With the class of pneumatic weapons, which do not require additional permits, everything is simple. The characteristics of such a product must comply with the following standards:

  • the caliber of the weapon should not exceed 4.5 mm;
  • the bullet's flight speed should not exceed 100 m/s.

Almost any gun store has such models, and the seller will tell you.

Extension of permission to store and carry weapons

Please note that a firearms permit is valid for 3 years, after which it must be renewed. You must submit the application and the following documents to the same Ministry of Internal Affairs agency where you first obtained permission to store and carry weapons. You will need:

  • medical certificate (form No. 127/o - order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 252-99) (the process of obtaining it is described in detail above);
  • payment order or receipt with a mark from the bank, post office or code of the transaction performed on the deposit of funds for the provision of the corresponding paid services:
  • contract of insurance of civil liability to third parties;
  • an application to extend the validity of a weapons permit, which is written to the head of the internal affairs agency at the place of residence (for smooth-bore weapons - to the city or district department of internal affairs, for rifled weapons - to the department (department) of the regional department of the licensing system.

Where to store weapons

The storage of weapons is clearly regulated by legal acts (Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine No. 622 of August 21, 1998, clause 12.12). It says that weapons, as well as ammunition and its main parts must be stored in a specially equipped and designated safe at the place of residence (registration). The weapon must be unloaded during storage. Be prepared that an inspector may come to check you at any time to make sure that the weapon is in place and stored in accordance with regulations.

But do not forget that weapons also have a “downside”. Despite the fact that “firearms,” like knives, gas cartridges, stun guns, pneumatic guns, and signal pistols, can be used to protect life and health legally, such use also has consequences. The law provides for liability for causing bodily harm and exceeding the measure of necessary self-defense.

Purchase and registration of weapons

Please note that a permit to purchase weapons is issued for a specific number of weapons of a certain type and for a period of 3 months!

We recommend that you order the weapon you need from a specific store before you begin the procedure for obtaining a purchase permit, and with the completed permit, you can buy the ordered weapon from the seller.

At the time of purchase, the seller makes an appropriate note about the specific weapon in the early permit you received.

Within 10 days from the date of purchase of a weapon, you need to register it with the internal affairs authorities at your place of residence, and also obtain permission to store and carry

(not to be confused with purchase permission)!

how to obtain a permit for a traumatic weapon

If you bought a rifled or traumatic weapon, you need to have it shot and inspected. This can be done, for example, in the research and forensic center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. In some cases, the examination is carried out by the manufacturer before the weapon goes on sale; in this case, the package will already contain all the necessary documentation and sealed spent cartridges.

Story

In 2008, a statement was made that a weapons factory located in Vinnitsa (we are talking about NPO Fort) would sign a contract with its Israeli colleagues to develop joint weapons. The object of the contract was TAR-21 (nicknamed from the Israeli side). It is also “Fort-221” according to the Ukrainian “passport”.

Actually, the Fort-221 assault rifle was manufactured at a Ukrainian factory located in Vinnitsa. However, the essence of the contract was such that the components were imported directly from Israel. And rifles were already assembled against them. But this was only the case for the first time, since very soon “Fort” began to use not only imported parts, but also components manufactured here.

The adoption of the Fort-221 rifle in the armed forces of Ukraine officially dates back to 2009, or rather, December 23, 2009. Then the corresponding resolution was signed by representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The Border Committee, the Foreign Intelligence Service and the State Security Department also took part in this process.
