In the line of Magnum-class weapons, the Stoeger X10 model appeared on the market relatively recently. This is an improved analogue of the Spanish Gamo Hunter 440 rifle - the classic basic model. The development of the modification was carried out under the patronage of venerable gunsmiths; the Turkish company Stoeger belongs to the Beretta holding. The power characteristics and aiming ability of pneumatics are high. The rifle is often used to exterminate birds and rodents. According to user reviews, you quickly get used to the weapon, it is easy to cock. The bullet penetrates small animals at medium distances: from 15 to 40 meters. The fiber optic threads of the sight are clearly visible at dusk and at night. The rubber pad on the end of the butt eliminates the impact of recoil. The wood is pleasant to the touch. There is a bracket for installing optics. The owner of the weapon himself selects the device of the required multiplicity.
Description
The all-wood body of the Stoeger X10 air rifle is very stable, made of high-quality, dense and lightweight wood. Thanks to the combination of the stock and the stock, the rifle is stable when shooting and is designed for continuous use.
Among air guns of its class, the rifle stands out due to its combination of low price and good build quality and processing of elements.
Despite its light weight, the rifle has many weapon-grade steel parts. The internally threaded barrel directs the bullet precisely to the target. Dense shooting accuracy is typical even for beginners. The front sight is entirely supplemented with fiber optic threads with good light transmission. Rifle length – 108 cm.
Like all Magnum class models, the safety is reliable and is triggered when the barrel is broken. Eliminates accidental shooting with an open barrel. Spring-piston charging operates smoothly, without a loud click. A plastic muzzle is provided. It is convenient when gripping the barrel for reloading and protects the barrel chamfer from contamination.
For installation of optics there is a grooved dovetail mount. The device is fixed rigidly and does not get knocked down during shooting.
There is no cheek piece to help you aim. But this does not reduce the convenience of the Stoeger X10 rifle.
Design
The cylinder-shaped receiver is the basis of the rifle. From below it is fastened to the stock with three screws. The barrel is mounted on an axial screw at the front. The trigger mechanism is bolted to the bottom of the barrel. The piston with a cuff and a weighting agent is fixed to the barrel by a lever mechanism; when the barrel is lowered, it is retracted back thanks to a spring with a guide.
The fuse is a small plate with a plug.
When cocking an air rifle, the spring is charged. The piston moves into position and when the trigger mechanism is activated, it begins to move. Picking up speed under the pressure of the spring, it creates air pressure in the barrel. The bullet rushes along the screw thread, its movement being centered. She flies along a given trajectory.

Description of the air rifle Stoeger X10 Wood Combo (30048):
air rifle (4×32 scope) is an excellent modification of the spring-piston type, largely repeating the well-known Gamo Hunter 44 rifle. It is distinguished from the prototype by a larger number of steel components and an even higher level of quality. The driving force of the rifle is a steel spring.
Ammunition in the form of 4.5 mm steel pneumatic bullets receives a speed of 170 m/s when leaving the barrel; when replacing the factory spring with an enhanced shot speed, it increases to 305 m/s. The muzzle energy of the Stoeger X10 Wood Combo rifle is up to 7.5 J, providing it with the possibility of free sale. The simple design of the rifle does not require complex maintenance, requiring only occasional lubrication. The rifle barrel is equipped with internal rifling to increase the accuracy and precision of each shot.
The high strength and reliability of the rifle is ensured by the use of weapons-grade steel for all internal mechanisms of the weapon. The stock is made from a solid piece of wood, impregnated with a special compound and coated with varnish, which favorably emphasizes the structure of the wood. The dovetail rail is designed for mounting optics, and a 4x32 scope is included with the rifle. With this accessory, the weapon will be perfect for medium distances.
There are also factory sighting devices - a ring front sight and an adjustable rear sight with optical filaments, which is important when aiming in low light conditions. The weight of the weapon is 3.4 kg, length - 108 cm. The rifle comes with a passport and a 4x32 optical sight.
Stoeger X10 Wood Combo is a high-quality model for target shooting, suitable for use at close and medium distances, as well as for driven hunting.

Advantages and disadvantages
Among the advantages of Turkish weapons are noted:
- shooting accuracy at medium distances, tight grouping at long distances;
- high power;
- ease of assembly and disassembly;
- low recoil, they are reduced by a rubber pad on the body;
- the use of fiberglass on the sight, thanks to the photosensitive threads, the front sight is perfectly visible in cloudy weather;
- variability of replaced elements: spring and piston from other models are suitable;
- the presence of a muzzle.
Flaws:
- After purchasing the weapon, it is advisable to go through the weapon to reduce the amount of lubricant and change the piston with a hole to a solid one. Reducing the diesel effect will protect the spring from breakage and the cuff from burning.
- When firing dry, the optics become confused. The sight can be damaged.
- Rigid trigger mechanism in comparison with analogues of other gunsmiths.
Disassembly and care
A decrease in accuracy is a signal to clean the pneumatics. When shooting steel balls, the barrel becomes less clogged. When using plastic lead charges, disassembling the weapon begins earlier. On average, after 100-150 shots, unless otherwise stated by the manufacturer.
Disassemble an air rifle only with an empty chamber. First, remove the stock: unscrew the two screws located in the area of the barrel fracture. Then the third one is loosened, under the trigger.
The pressure ring is easy to find if you move the fuse to the side. Once the screw is loosened, the plate can be easily removed. A firing mechanism will be available. When it is removed, access to the lever will open. First, knock out the pin on the plug, then remove the lever spring. Access to the piston will be open.
All parts are cleaned well:
- remove plaque from the inner surface of the trunk with a bronze brush;
- degrease the barrel and piston;
- apply gun lubricant.
After the cleaning procedure, they begin to assemble the pneumatics.
Modifications
The Stoeger X10 air gun is available in two versions: Wood and Synthetic. The Turkish Stoeger X10 Wood rifle in plastic design is often positioned as Italian. The dense plastic, rough to the touch, looks good. The stock holds well in the hand and does not slip out.
The Stoeger X10 Synthetic 4.5 mm from a distance is confused with a hunting rifle. This modification is chosen by lovers of the classics. Models with the word “Combo” in the name are equipped with a detachable 4x32 optical sight.
Rifles with d.e. up to 7.5 J Stoeger model “X10” series “Synthetic”
Main groups: compression system, multi-compression system, pre-pumping (PCP), carbon dioxide (CO2) systems, cartridge-pumping systems, spring (pressure-piston system). Compression system (single-pump airguns) compressed air is stored in a special tank built into the weapon. The pumping lever is activated once by the shooter's hand. The lever transmits movement to the piston, which compresses the air in the reservoir. The piston is locked in the pressed position. At the moment of firing, the release valve opens, separating the tank and the barrel of the weapon. The supply of compressed air is only enough for one shot.
The shot power is above average, the initial speed of a 4.5 mm bullet is up to 180-200 m/s. The multi-compression system (multi-pump airguns, reusable pumping) is similar in design to systems with disposable pumping. The only difference is that charging the tank requires several cycles of moving the lever. As a result, it becomes possible to vary the power of the shot and even fire several shots from one charge of the tank. The shot power is high, the initial speed of a 4.5 mm bullet is up to 220-280 m/s.
Pre-charge pneumatics (PCP) systems are very similar to single and multiple pump systems. The main difference is that the gas pumping system is not included in the weapon. The tank is pumped with air (less often nitrogen) to a pressure of 250-300 atm. from a compressor or cylinder. The weapon includes a gas distribution system (reducer), which reduces the gas pressure at the outlet of the tank (usually to 70 atmospheres). Charging one tank is enough for several dozen shots. The shot power is exceptionally high and can be adjusted, the initial speed of a 4.5 mm bullet is up to 350 m/s.
Carbon dioxide systems (CO2 airguns) are structurally close to a system with pre-pumping and a replaceable tank. Carbon dioxide in a certain temperature range has the remarkable property of self-regulation of pressure. In CO2 cylinders, part of the carbon dioxide is in a liquefied state, and part is in a gaseous state. When fired, a portion of gaseous carbon dioxide escapes and the pressure of the gaseous part of CO2 drops, but immediately part of the liquid CO2 goes into a gaseous state, maintaining the gas pressure constant. This will continue until at least a little liquid carbon dioxide remains in the cylinder. Unfortunately, the pressure in a carbon dioxide cylinder depends on temperature. At a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, the CO2 pressure will be about 60 atmospheres, and at zero temperature no more than 33 atmospheres. In addition, when fired, due to the expansion of the compressed gas, the cylinder cools, which also leads to a short-term (for a few seconds) decrease in pressure in it. In carbon dioxide systems, disposable 8 and 12 gram CO2 cartridges are most often used, which on average are enough for 40-50 and 80-90 shots, respectively. Some rifles use large rechargeable CO2 tanks.
In systems with pumped cartridges (air-cartrige airguns), a special brass cartridge (called an air-cartrige) serves as a reservoir for compressed air. It is similar in size and appearance to military weapon cartridges. The cartridge consists of two parts: a screw cap into which a regular pneumatic bullet is placed and a sleeve, which is the reservoir itself. Along the axis of the reservoir there is a valve stem, one end of which closes the outlet hole on the side of the cap, and on the side of the bottom of the cartridge case, the opening of the primer. The cartridge is inflated with air from a hand pump (3-8 strokes) or a special compressor to a pressure of 200-230 bar. When fired, the firing pin hits the end of the cartridge rod and the rod opens the outlet of the reservoir. The escaping air pushes the bullet out of the cap and into the barrel. The shot power is average, the initial speed of a 4.5 mm bullet ranges from 120-160 m/s, but with a different cartridge design it can reach 300 m/s and higher.
Spring-piston airguns are very simple and reliable. They lack a bypass valve system and a compressed air storage tank. The air cylinder (reservoir) of the weapon is directly connected to the barrel. When the cocking lever moves, the piston moves inside the cylinder, compressing the mainspring. The piston is held in this position by the trigger mechanism. When fired, the piston moves forward and, under the action of the elasticity of the spring and the stored kinetic energy of the massive piston, compresses the air gap between the piston and the bullet. At some point, the pressure of the compressed air of the layer overcomes the frictional resistance of the bullet against the walls of the barrel, the bullet begins to move forward and flies out of the barrel.
The power of the shot ranges from low to very high, the initial speed of a 4.5 mm bullet is from 100 to 380 m/s and even higher.
Tuning
When choosing optics, focus on the width of the dovetail. It is 11 mm in Stoeger X10 air rifles. The second indicator is muzzle force. There are optics designed for 7.5 J. For X10 models it is 1.5 times higher.
The second improvement increases the shot range. When replacing the original spring with a gas spring, dynamic losses are reduced.
The gas spring has denser coils and is designed for heavy loads. In an air rifle, it will not have to be changed for a long time.
