Sniper rifle model Tavor STAR 21
Tavor STAR 21 |
In the 1990s, the Israeli company IMI (Israel Military Industries - later IWI - Israeli Weapons Industries Ltd) began developing a new assault rifle, which resulted in the creation of a whole family of weapons with the designation "Tavor".
Tavor TAR 21
In addition to the main model of the Tavor TAR 21 assault rifle (machine gun), the Tavor CTAR 21 carbine, the Tavor MTAR 21 small-sized assault rifle, and the Tavor STAR 21 sniper rifle were created on its basis.
The Tavor STAR 21 sniper rifle (STAR - Sharp Shooting Tavor Assault Rifle) is one of the most interesting versions of the Tavor. This rifle was developed to replace the so-called rifles in service with the Israeli Liberation Army. “linear sniper rifles” (Sharp Shooting Rifle) M16A2E3 and the like.
Tavor STAR 21 The
Tavor STAR 21 sniper rifle is a modified version of the Tavor TAR 21 in design and differs from the base model in the presence of a 4x optical sight, a heavy “sniper” barrel with improved processing and a folding bipod.
Like all weapons in the Tavor family, the Tavor STAR 21 rifle is an automatic weapon with a gas automatic engine and is built in a bullpup configuration.
The bolt is rotary, locked behind the barrel with 7 lugs.
The ejector and reflector are attached to the bolt, and the rifle has two interchangeable bolt options that provide ejection of spent cartridges on the right or left side of the weapon, for which two windows are made in the body of the weapon for ejecting spent cartridges.

The trigger mechanism is trigger type. The enlarged trigger guard covers the shooter's entire hand.
Double-sided safety - the fire mode switch is located on the body of the weapon above the pistol grip.
Tavor STAR 21, unlike the basic version of the Tavor TAR 21 rifle, has a heavy barrel with improved processing. It is possible to install a special shot silencer on the barrel.
The Tavor STAR 21 sniper rifle is standardly equipped with a 4x optical sight. At the same time, it is possible to install day and night sights of various types due to the presence of a Picatinny-type guide.
Tavor STAR 21
The rifle is fed from magazines from the M16 rifle, with a standard capacity of 30 or 20 rounds.
The body of the weapon is made of high-strength polymers in combination with light alloys (aluminum, etc.), integral with the pistol grip and trigger guard.
The forend has a bipod that folds forward on the bottom.
In various comparative tests of the Tavor STAR 21, the following positive features of the rifle were noted:
— Greater reliability of operation in extreme conditions. — Possibility of round-the-clock use without the need for shooting. — Ergonomic design. — Compactness of the weapon. — The design of the rifle allows the weapon to be used equally conveniently by both right-handed and left-handed people.

In 1991, Israel began developing a new promising family of individual small arms, designed to replace the aging M16, CAR-15 and Galil assault rifles in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF or IDF). The development of the new weapon was entrusted to the state-owned Israel Military Industries (IMI, now a private company IWI - Israeli Weapons Industries Ltd), and was carried out in close cooperation with the Israeli military. The new rifle was first shown to the public in 1998, and was designated Tavor TAR-21 (Tavor Assault Rifle, 21). The word Tavor refers to nothing more than Mount Tabor in Galilee, and the index 21 denoted the weapon's targeting into the 21st century. Tavor series weapons were widely tested in IDF units in the late 1990s and early 2000s; At the moment (mid-2007), the IDF already has a fairly significant number of Tavor assault rifles in its arsenal, but it should be noted that its development has been delayed. In addition to Israel, Tavor TAR-21 assault rifles are in service with the special forces of the armies of India and Georgia.
The Tavor TAR-21 family of small arms consists of several samples built on the basis of one common basic design, and includes: a standard TAR-21 assault rifle (automatic) with a 460 mm barrel, a shortened TAR C21 “Commando” assault rifle with a 360 mm barrel mm, a subcompact assault rifle (actually a submachine gun or PDW of 5.56 mm caliber) TAR M21 “Micro-Tavor” with a barrel of only 330 mm and a sniper rifle with an optical sight and bipod STAR-21 “Sniper Tavor”. The Micro-Tavor variant can also be converted to a 9x19 mm pistol cartridge by replacing the barrel, bolt group and installing a special adapter in the magazine receiver. Especially for the civilian market, IWI also produces only a self-loading version, which is exported to European countries and Canada.
The Tavor TAR-21 is a magazine-fed automatic weapon with an air-cooled barrel and an automatic gas engine built in a bullpup configuration (the magazine and chamber are located behind the pistol grip and trigger, in the butt). The body of the weapon is almost entirely made of impact-resistant plastic, integral with the pistol grip and trigger guard. In necessary places it is reinforced with steel inserts. The gas outlet is located above the barrel and is completely hidden by the body of the weapon. The gas piston has a long stroke and is rigidly fixed to the bolt frame. The bolt is rotary, locked behind the barrel with 7 lugs. The ejector and reflector are attached to the bolt, and for machine guns there are two interchangeable bolt options that ensure the ejection of spent cartridges on the right or left side of the weapon, for which two windows are made in the body of the weapon for the ejection of spent cartridges. The bolt carrier moves inside the body on one guide rod; above it there is a return spring, partially hidden inside the hollow gas piston rod. The charging handle is usually located on the left side above the forend, but cutouts for it are made on both sides of the weapon and it can be installed on either the left or right side. When shooting, the handle remains motionless. The trigger mechanism of the Tavor TAR-21 is quite traditional, hammer-operated, located in the butt. Double-sided safety - the fire mode translator is located on the weapon body above the pistol grip and provides 2 fire modes - single shots and bursts of arbitrary length. The enlarged trigger guard covers the shooter's entire hand. The Micro-Tavor series assault rifles have a traditional small trigger guard and a reshaped forend. Access to all internal mechanisms of the Tavor TAR-21 for inspection and disassembly is carried out using the buttplate, which hinges downwards. The Tavor TAR-21 is fed from M16 rifle magazines with a standard capacity of 30 or 20 rounds. Early versions of the Tavor TAR-21 did not have open sights; Currently, all machine guns are equipped with a folding front sight and an adjustable rear sight. For the Tavor TAR-21, the rather “advanced” (and expensive) Israeli-developed ITLMARS collimator sight, which also included a laser target designator, was initially considered standard. If it is necessary to operate in the dark, a special night vision device ITL Mini N/SEAS is installed behind the MARS sight. On machine guns of later releases, a simpler and cheaper Meprolight collimator sight is installed, which does not have a laser target. The TavorTAR-21 series assault rifles with a standard barrel can be equipped with an American-designed 40-mm M203 grenade launcher; a special shot silencer, also produced by IWI, can be installed on the barrel of the assault rifles.

A short look at the training ground.
Well, let's start with the fact that the name “Tavor” comes from some Israeli mountain. And the weapons themselves accordingly came from this country. Tar - 21 was designed to replace the outdated Galil. Let's finish with the story. Now about the appearance, etc.
The model itself looks very cool on the testing ground; there are abrasions and scratches. Also cool green camouflage. For those who don't know. In Israel, green was adopted as the main camouflage color and all special weapons are painted. units in it. And this “custom” was preserved in the game. This is cool, you can think that the Warface squad received these weapons directly from Israel. Tavor itself was made using the bullpup system. This means that all the main parts are placed on one side of the body, most of the barrel is hidden, the clip is moved behind the trigger, and the trigger handle is made as one piece in the form of an irregular polygon. This system ensures maximum compactness of the weapon.
There are 3 types of modules installed on Tavor.
1. — Barrel — it is impossible to install a bayonet.
2. - Forend - it is impossible to install a bipod handle and an under-barrel grenade launcher.
3. - Sight - it is impossible to install a 3X sight.
The reload animation is done correctly. Accurate and fast. As it should be. A standard aperture sight with tritium storage on the front sight is also installed. Quite easy to use. Therefore, if you do not have optics, then it is quite normal to use a regular front sight.
Performance characteristics in real combat.
Well... This is a strong average. All its characteristics are perfectly balanced. It's also universal. You can work normally with this weapon at close range, at long range, and of course at medium range. At the same time, Tavor will perform equally well in all situations. The rate of fire is quite low for close range, but if you seize the initiative and strike first, you can quite easily overwhelm the enemy with a good old clamp. The middle distance is also perfectly controlled. Of course there is recoil, but it is very easy to extinguish. And if you use a handle, then in general it will be felt weakly. Long distances are fired in bursts of 2-3 rounds. And this is also normal, this is how they shoot into the distance from any assault rifle. Of course, Tavor doesn't one-shot to the head. But this is forgivable. Firstly, this is still a rare category. Secondly, the recoil is so easily controlled that putting 2 rounds into the head is not difficult. Yes, of course, sometimes a non-one-shot to the head will be the culprit of your death. But you can forget about this too. Not every time you will be killed precisely because of this.
Conclusion: Good weapon. Very balanced, no aspects fluctuate or jump in any direction. Of course, Tavor should not be considered as an alternative to rarity. But, if you are a good shooter and don’t want to worry about 103, and Galil has not yet been opened, then use Tavor. If you are not a very good shooter, but also don’t want to suffer with the AK. It’s better not to take Tavor into your arsenal; you simply won’t be able to get the most out of it. There is a kalika for you. And she will be the best solution.
There is an achievement for 10,000 frags.
Flurry of Fire
Overall rating for the weapon: 7/10
-1 for a non-oneshot to the head (I think everything is clear here).
-1 for rate of fire (it’s really not enough for such damage).
-1 for accuracy from the hip (you can normally shoot from the hip only at extremely close distances, but at medium-short distances you need to rely only on randomness).
Frag movie (not mine)
That's all. Good luck in your battles and more frags.
