Hello to all fans of the ambush style of play and welcome to aces.gg! This time we have a rather interesting car on our agenda, which is not suitable for everyone. We will talk about the Soviet tank destroyer of the seventh level - this is SU-100M1 guide
.
I would like to say right away that this device was once frankly weak, it was almost impossible to play on it. However, a lot of time has passed, several significant upgrades and now the performance characteristics of the SU-100M1 World of Tanks
have changed a lot, there are even moments that are truly impressive. Let's figure out together what this brainchild of the USSR is capable of in our game today.
Research tree
In principle, pumping up a car is quite fast and fun, so there shouldn’t be any problems here.
The SU-100M1 has quite a DP gun. Rapid-fire and accurate, has fast aiming. The question is whether it is worth buying a top weapon or immediately saving up experience for the next vehicle. The problem is that the top version will only improve the rate of fire, accuracy and aiming, but the penetration and alpha strike will remain exactly the same. It is also worth noting that a breakout at 175 will not always be enough. If it is still possible to break through the 7th level, then with stronger opponents, you will have to charge the “golda”.
We will receive the pre-top engine from our predecessor, so we can install it right away. The top one needs to be opened. It will give us 80 more horses compared to the previous version, and will also reduce the chance of fire.
The chassis will allow the installation of all modules and equipment, and will also increase the turning speed by 2 degrees per second, which is quite a lot for a PT.
The stock radio is not really suitable for gaming at this level, so we need to install a top-end version as soon as possible. Luckily it's inexpensive.

Tactics
The tactics of playing on the SU-100M1 are the same as the tactics of playing on the classic tank destroyer. Considering our poor armor (you shouldn’t count on the angles, even though they exist), it’s not worth throwing yourself into a vigorous tank chopper. And to conduct a “bush war” we have everything (except for the view, which I recommend enhancing with a stereo tube) - a fast-firing and accurate weapon, with fast aiming (which eliminates small UGNs), as well as a low silhouette and small dimensions. Excellent dynamics and maximum speed will greatly help us in occupying key PT positions, as well as during a change of location (assistance on the other flank, knocking down a capture or capture). Close combat is something to be careful of. Even with such a good turning speed in place, it will not be difficult for some frisky ST or LT to carousel us. Therefore, always analyze the situation on the game map and take into account the fact that you need to keep your distance. At the first sign of danger, you should immediately change position. By adhering to these simple rules, you can make life much easier for your car and yourself.

Optional equipment
Drives and a rammer are required for the SU-100M1 - they will improve the already excellent rate of fire and aiming. Personally, I recommend installing a stereo tube as the third slot. Even with our not-so-high visibility of 360m, it will bear fruit in the form of a large number of credits and experience, since we will more often fire in our own way + receive a bonus from other allies. Ventilation should only be installed if you have leveled up your combat fraternity. Otherwise the growth will be negligible.
- “Reinforced aiming drives” - 500,000 silver
- “Medium caliber gun rammer” – 200,000 silver
- “Stereotube” – 500,000 silver
- “Improved ventilation Class 2” - 150,000 silver
Advantages and disadvantages
Since the analysis of the general parameters of the tank and its gun is over, it’s time to sum up the first results, highlighting the most important strengths and weaknesses of the SU-100M1 World of Tanks
. Ultimately, it is based on such nuances that you can equip the vehicle and formulate a strategy for conducting combat on it. Pros: • Very good mobility (maximum speed, dynamics, maneuverability); • High rate of fire and excellent DPM; • Decent accuracy (scatter and convergence); • Ricochet armor; • High camouflage coefficient. Cons: • Despite good slopes, the armor is mediocre; • Small visibility and safety margin; • Weak penetration by armor-piercing projectiles; • Small alpha strike; • Poor elevation and elevation angles.

I advise you to upgrade your combat fraternity as your first skill - you will do it quite quickly, and the skill itself is useful for any technique. Next, we’ll upgrade camouflage (it will make us even more invisible) for everyone, and for the commander – a sixth sense. The third skill we take is a sniper for the gunner - we will have a very good profit, since our gun is very fast-firing. The Virtuoso will enhance the already good reversal rate, and the Desperate will help in “fights to the death.”
Sample "Uralmash-1" SU-101 - the most armored self-propelled gun
September '44. begins serial production of SU-100 self-propelled guns - one of the best medium guns of WW2. The caliber of the combat weapon is 100 mm, good maneuverability and armor protection for its time. There were also disadvantages so characteristic of self-propelled guns of this type. The reach of the long-barreled gun made it difficult to maneuver in confined spaces; the center of gravity created an overload on the front rollers; as a result, the self-propelled gun's mountings could not withstand the loads. Further development of long-barreled self-propelled guns based on the T-34 is not possible. To solve technical problems, a new base was required. in the summer of 44, begins the development of new self-propelled guns based on various domestic tanks. October '44. The plant presents the following projects to the technical council of the tank industry: - a self-propelled artillery mount with a D-25 gun of 122 mm caliber - SU-122P. The self-propelled gun is made of metal and is being tested; - a self-propelled gun mount with a D-10S gun of 100 mm caliber - ESU-100. The self-propelled gun was designed with an electric transmission and had a rear-mounted fighting compartment; - a self-propelled artillery mount with a D-10S gun of 100 mm caliber - SU-100-M-1. The self-propelled guns were supposed to use a rearranged modular part of the T-34. It had a rear-mounted fighting compartment; - a self-propelled gun mount with a D-10S gun of 100 mm caliber - SU-100-M-2. The self-propelled gun must use the V-2-44 engine and the layout of the units from the T-44. It had a rear-mounted fighting compartment; - a self-propelled artillery mount with a D-25 gun with a caliber of 122 mm - SU-122-44. The self-propelled guns should use the layout of units from the T-44. It had a forward location of the fighting compartment.
The decision of the technical council, the best self-propelled gun project is SU-100-M-2. According to the order of the People's Commissar of the Tank Industry No. 625 dated October 21, 1944, the plant begins to create the SU-100-M-2 sample for testing. The self-propelled gun turned out to be surprisingly compact. The weight of the vehicle did not go beyond the limits of medium-class armored vehicles, and the armor of the self-propelled guns could be significantly increased. In 1945, the commission from the People's Commissar of the Tank Industry, having familiarized itself with the progress of work, remains satisfied with the situation and sets the deadline for the creation of the first model for May 1945. The sample is called "Uralmash-1".
March '45. The plant is rapidly creating two models of self-propelled guns - SU-101 and SU-102. SU-101 is a self-propelled gun with a D-10S gun of 100 mm caliber, and SU-102 is with a D-25S gun of 122 mm caliber. Both samples were built on time. Additionally, the gun mount body was manufactured for testing for armor resistance.
SU-101 device
The SU-101 self-propelled gun mount was created on the basis of units from the T-44 and T-34-85. The self-propelled gun belonged to the class of armored vehicles as an anti-tank weapon. After testing the self-propelled gun project, it was proposed to modify and use more powerful guns with a larger caliber on the tested SU-101 base. The layout of the self-propelled guns used the aft production of the fighting compartment. MTO according to the scheme - front location. The driver-mechanic seat is on the left in the bow compartment, on the right is the engine with transmission mechanisms. In the wheelhouse, reinforced with armor, to the left of the gun, sit the gunner, behind him is the commander of the vehicle, and to the right of the gun sits the loader. To inspect the battlefield, the self-propelled gun is equipped with MK-4 devices. The entrance to the vehicle is through a hatch located in the rear of the wheelhouse and hull; the commander’s hatch is located on the wheelhouse; for the driver-mechanic, a hatch is equipped in the control compartment. The self-propelled gun carried a D-10S rifled gun of 100 mm caliber, previously used in the SU-100 self-propelled gun mount. In addition, the self-propelled gun had a large-caliber 12.7 mm DShK machine gun. The gun had vertical guidance angles from 2 to 18 degrees, horizontal sectoral guidance angles of 22.5 degrees. For direct fire, a telescopic sight TSh-19 was used. To fire a gun from a closed position, a Hertz panorama was used. The gun fires at three rounds per minute. The self-propelled gun's ammunition capacity is 36 rounds for the gun and 450 for the machine gun. The machine gun is mounted on a turret, which is mounted on a movable base of the commander's hatch. Vertical guidance of the machine gun from 84 to -6 degrees. To fire at enemy air targets, the shooter uses a collimator-type sight. During combat operations, the machine gun can be used to destroy ground targets.
The armor class of the self-propelled gun is projectile-proof. In the production of self-propelled guns, rolled armor sheets from 15 to 120 mm were used. Structurally, the sheets were installed with calculated angles of inclination. The frontal armored version of the self-propelled gun is 90 mm, with an angle of 27 degrees, the cabin armor is 120 mm sheets, installed at an angle of 55 degrees. To provide a smoke screen, 2 bombs with a smoke charge are installed at the stern of the wheelhouse. In the compartment with the mechanical equipment, which is located in the bow of the self-propelled gun, a V-44 DD is installed longitudinally, the engine power is 500 hp. To start the engine, we used an ST-700 starter, or air from 2 installed cylinders. Fuel tanks hold 370 liters of diesel fuel, spare tanks hold 360 liters of diesel fuel. The declared range is 167 kilometers.
The design of the transmission repeats the design of units from the T-34-85. Changes in the design are mainly related to the location of the logistics department in the bow of the self-propelled gun. The chassis is similar to the T-44 tank, from which the track mover and individual torsion bar suspension were taken. EO SAU – single-wire type. The lighting is installed using a two-wire electrical circuit. On board the self-propelled guns there was a voltage of 12 and 24 volts. Source – 4 batteries of 6STE-128 type, battery capacity 256 Ah. To provide external communication, a 9RS radio station was used; for communication inside the vehicle, TPU-3-BIS-F intercoms were used. In addition, there was a light alarm and a tank phone for communication between the commander and the driver-mechanic.
The fate of SU-101
Autumn '45. Factory tests of the SU-101 sample. As testing progressed, various technical problems were identified and improved or eliminated. At the end of factory testing, the self-propelled gun is considered ready for field combat testing. The sample called “Uralmash-1” undoubtedly surpassed previously created self-propelled guns in many characteristics. The vehicle turned out to be more compact, maneuverability has improved, and it is more convenient for the crew to enter and exit. Increased armor characteristics, the result of the compactness of the self-propelled guns. Tests of the durability of the armored hull showed results superior to all hulls of self-propelled guns and tanks available at that time. The armor in the front of the self-propelled gun was inaccessible to any anti-tank ammunition of the German army. And the weight of the SU-101 self-propelled gun corresponded to the weight of the T-34-85. Not without its shortcomings. There was less free space in the car than even the SU-100. When firing, there was a shock wave impact on the roof of the hull. Perhaps the combination of these and other reasons (victory in WW2, the beginning of a reduction in armaments and the number of troops, a large number of self-propelled guns already produced, arming the army with a T-54 tank with a 100 mm gun) did not allow the SU-101 to continue its existence. Work on the self-propelled guns first stops, and then stops completely. At the moment, the SU-101, as a historical example of the military power of the Soviet Union, is located at the VIM BTViT in Kubinka.
Main characteristics of the self-propelled guns:
— weight 34800 kilograms; — vehicle crew of 4 people; — year of construction, model 1945; — length 7.12 meters; — width 3.11 meters; — height 2.6 meters; — clearance 42 centimeters; — speed up to 50 km/h; — rise to 34 degrees; — an obstacle up to 120 centimeters high; — ditch up to 3.5 meters; — ford up to 150 centimeters.

What's new
As you remember, we initially planned to adapt Object 430 to the current conditions of random battles, add heavy tanks with a rear turret and rebalance the Object 263 branch to make the research tree more consistent.
We carefully analyzed your feedback and collected statistics after a series of tests. And now Soviet medium tanks with a rear turret are turning into an independent branch, and the Object 430, together with the new Object 430U vehicle, will form a new branch of assault vehicles.
Regarding the addition of the TT and Tank Destroyer branches, the additional data we received proved that both branches fit well into the game and will have a positive impact on game balance.
Let's take a closer look at the changes in Update 9.22.
How to play SU-100
Like any tank destroyer with a fixed wheelhouse (except for heavily armored assault tanks), open maps with long range shots are best suited for the SU-100. To play effectively, you need to occupy places that are active for causing damage. Given the low accuracy, it is advisable to shoot at full aim. It is mandatory to have sub-caliber shells in your ammunition against the eighth levels, especially when installing a top gun.
It is not recommended to launch a direct attack; such maneuvers in battle against high-level equipment are very risky. When attacking, it is better to stay behind the vehicle, and after a shot, hide in the terrain while reloading. You should not neglect your review; you should always try to bring it to the maximum level. In battles where allied light tanks are quickly destroyed, this can be a decisive factor for survival.
New season of ranked battles
The new season will consist of only one stage lasting 21 days and 15 ranks. Rank 5, 10 and 13 cannot be lost in case of defeat. We've also revised the rewards: reaching Rank 9 will reward you with 1,500 Bonds. In addition, the higher the rank, the greater the reward will be.
Server unavailability
Game servers will be unavailable on February 6 from 3:30 to 11:30 (Moscow time) due to the release of the update. We recommend that you refrain from making payments at this time.
Also, on February 6, from 3:30 to 10:30 (Moscow time), the Clan Portal will be unavailable. In addition, on February 6th, “Offensives” will not be carried out in Fortified Areas.
Premium account and compensation
Players who have a premium account or other temporary services (for example, camouflage) active at the time of the start of technical work will be compensated for a day of premium account and/or a day of using services starting from February 6 at 3:30 (Moscow time) according to the rules. If you want to make in-game purchases, please wait until the servers start.
We hope you enjoy the new USSR vehicles and improved balancer. Don't forget to check out the forum and share your opinion with us!
Rebalance of tank destroyers of the USSR
After rebalancing the alternative branch of the USSR tank destroyer, the vehicles will receive a new specialization. The branch begins with the SU-100M1 at level VII, followed by the SU-101, followed by Object 263. And at level X there will be “Object 268 Option 4”.
As in the ST and TT branches, the guns of these tank destroyers will also be located in the rear. In addition, these vehicles will be distinguished by good mobility, low maneuverability and durable frontal armor. Created for attack, they should be in the forefront of the attack, where they can have the maximum influence on the outcome of the battle.
Object 268 Option 4
The new top tank destroyer represents the entire branch. This vehicle will be most effective in a group attack. Mobility (50 km/h) and good speed will allow you to take a comfortable position, however, low maneuverability means that this tank destroyer depends on the support of its allies, otherwise enemy tanks will be able to “twist” it.
Balancer improvements
In update 9.22, the balancer will allow you to get into different types of combat more often than you noted. This means that in the next random battle, the chance of getting into a type of battle you have already been in (standard, assault, counter or pitched battle) will be lower.
This change will allow you to avoid getting into the same type of battle several times in a row (this applies most of all to general battles). However, getting into a general battle through combat is still possible.
To maximize the effectiveness of the new mechanics, the balancer needs data for the last 50 battles you played after the release of version 9.22.
NOTE: If you wait too long to fight, the balancer may add additional combat types to the ones you selected. If you wait longer than 50 seconds, the balancer will send you to the first available battle of any type.
New heavy tanks of the USSR
Heavy tanks of the USSR are solid vehicles that do their job well. In 9.22 we will slightly diversify their ranks by adding the heavily armored close combat vehicle "Object 705A".
The vehicle will lead a new alternative branch of heavy tanks of the USSR. It will start with the IS-M vehicle at level VIII, followed by the Object 705 at level IX. A common feature of all three vehicles is the rear position of the turret, which will determine the gameplay on these tanks.
The classic IP will serve as the starting point for the future branch.
Object 705A
“Object 705A” is a unique machine. Its role on the battlefield is quite easy to determine, especially considering that it is equipped with a 152mm gun capable of dealing 650 damage per shot. However, this weapon will be effective at medium and close range.
With a visibility of 390 m, this tank will not be able to successfully fire from a long distance; it is most effective in close combat.
The Object 705A is ideal for head-on combat and is capable of withstanding a lot thanks to its upper frontal part, the reduced thickness of which reaches 340 mm. However, the thickness of the NLD is only 244 mm, so it should be placed at an angle or hidden behind a cover.
The weight of the Object 705A is about 100 tons, so it accelerates slowly. However, the engine power is enough to get this beast where it needs to go on time.
