Good day and welcome to aces.gg! Now we will talk about a really strong and quite comfortable vehicle, a Soviet tank destroyer of the sixth level, in front of you SU-100 guide
.
If we talk about self-propelled guns of the USSR nation, then without a twinge of conscience we can say that a comfortable game awaits you from the very beginning. As for the SU-100 World of Tanks
, this vehicle inspires fear even in higher-level equipment, but in order to cope with this Soviet power, you need to get to know the tank as closely as possible.
TTX SU-100
According to the already established tradition, we will begin with the fact that we have at our disposal rather weak indicators of the safety margin, although, by the standards of the PT-6, they are standard, as well as a modest basic visibility of 350 meters.
If we consider the SU-100 characteristics
survivability, then you need to pay attention to two very important indicators.
To begin with, the armor at our disposal is quite weak; we cannot rely on the sides and roof at all. As for the frontal projection, the so-called VLD has a very decent slope, but even with this the adjustment does not exceed 114 millimeters, and although sometimes ricochets happen, even tanks of the fifth level still penetrate the SU-100 WoT tank
destroyer. The only solid place we have is the gun mantlet; it can “eat” damage and is capable of ricocheting.
The camouflage coefficient can rightly be considered the bright side of the coin. The fact is that on our side there is a very low silhouette, thanks to which the SU-100 tank
not such a simple task.
From the point of view of mobility, everything is also very good. The maximum forward speed is very good and although it is not always possible to achieve it, the specific power of the SU-100 World of Tanks
also worthy of respect. But you shouldn’t rely on maneuverability; turning this self-propelled gun is not that difficult.

gun
The weapon situation in the case of self-propelled anti-tank guns almost always deserves respect, and in our case there are two guns to choose from, one better than the other.
First, let's look at the SU-100 gun
with a caliber of 122 millimeters, because this is one of the most formidable barrels at the level, as it has a very powerful alphastrike. But it takes a long time to reload in this configuration, although approximately 1800 units of damage per minute is a very decent result.
Regarding the penetration parameters, the SU-100 tank
sews classmates, level seven equipment without any problems, and only for some eights, in particular heavy ones, you should carry 10-15 gold cartridges with you.
Of course, you will have to pay for such serious one-time damage and accuracy will be a forced sacrifice. PT-SAU SU-100
has a large scatter, it takes a very long time to reduce, and our stabilization is expectedly poor. In addition, the gun lowers only 6 degrees, but the total elevation angle of 24 degrees (12 in each direction) can be called comfortable.
The second gun, an alternative one, has the same penetration parameters, the situation with UGN and UVN is identical here, but we have less one-time damage. Moreover, in this configuration the SU-100 World of Tanks
reloads faster and can deal slightly more damage per minute, approximately 1950.
But the main distinguishing feature of the 100 mm gun is its more comfortable accuracy. Your initial spread will be smaller, and information will be much faster, thanks to which the SU-100 WoT
It will be more convenient to deal damage, and an accidental miss will not seem so critical.
Which is better to choose? Here everyone must decide for themselves, but for those who like to thoroughly break into the enemy, or even send the opponent to the hangar with one shot, it is recommended to take a 122 mm barrel. And for those who prefer DPM and the comfort of dealing damage, the SU-100 tank
You can ride with an alternative pre-top gun.

Advantages and disadvantages
In order to properly equip a tank with additional modules, and also to know how best to behave in battle, it is important to understand its strengths and weaknesses, which we will now highlight separately. In addition, most tankers prefer a weapon with a powerful alpha, so further SU-100 guide
We will continue from this position, taking into account the configuration with a top gun. Pros: • High stealth factor; • Excellent mobility; • Very formidable alphastrike; • Decent penetration with a basic projectile; • Comfortable horizontal aiming angles. Cons: • Weak armor; • Mediocre viewing range; • Poor accuracy and long convergence; • Long recharge; • Uncomfortable vertical aiming angles.

Equipment for SU-100
As you know, by installing additional modules you can both enhance existing advantages and reduce the impact of disadvantages. If you look at the list of weaknesses of our self-propelled guns, then it is mainly necessary to focus on them, thus, for the SU-100 tank destroyer, equipment
you should put the following: 1. – given our mediocre rate of fire, this module is required, especially since you will be pleased to realize your powerful alpha more often. 2. is also a very important module, because we need to compensate for poor accuracy and long mixing. 3. is also a good option that will completely solve the problem of lack of viewing range.
However, we can give preference to our safety and increase the stealth of the self-propelled gun; for this, the second module is replaced with one, which goes well with the third point. Of course, it will take longer to get together, but when they don’t see you, there shouldn’t be any problems.
Combat effectiveness
Once in the right hands, the SU-100 becomes a dangerous and powerful machine, supporting defense and attack.
Pros of the tank: a wide selection of guns, excellent camouflage and invisible due to the low profile, excellent mobility for its level, armor gives ricochets when fired at by guns on tanks up to level 5
Disadvantages : low accuracy of guns, poor hull armor.
Tactics:
Ambush. The SU-100 can hide almost out of the blue. Thin armor does not allow you to fight enemy tanks alone.
Support for an SU-100 attack is possible due to its low visibility and mobility.
Passive light. The addition of a mask network and stereo pipe, combined with mobility and range of vision, makes the SU-100 the best in this type of tactics.
Precautions: hide behind the bushes, but remember that a shot and you are unmasked. Change your location to mislead the enemy so that he doesn't shoot you.
Equipment: camouflage, gun - 122 mm D2-5S, improved ventilation Class 2, reinforced aiming drives, medium-caliber gun rammer. It will improve the rate of fire and aiming time.
Equipment: First Aid Kit, Repair Kit or Fire Extinguisher
Tactics for playing the SU-100
This self-propelled anti-tank gun has rather weak armor, but has a very powerful weapon and good stealth, all this tells us that the tactics on the SU-100
combat will be quite typical for a tank destroyer, that is, a cluster one.
Initially, it is better to choose a good position somewhere on the second line, stand in dense thickets so that it is more difficult for you to be detected and from there fire at the allied light. Just remember that the SU-100 WoT tank
must always come to the end; failures cost too much wasted time.
It is also important to understand that standing in one place throughout the fight is, firstly, ineffective, and secondly, unsafe. Take advantage of your excellent mobility, change your position to a more effective one, in case of danger the SU-100 tank
can quickly retreat, and if necessary, even change flank.
As for close combat, it is contraindicated for us. But if you can still reflect something with your forehead, even though the chance is small, then you definitely can’t let anyone on board; most likely, they will spin you around even with the maneuverability of the SU-100 World of Tanks tank
it will be very difficult to fight back.
Otherwise, we should be very wary of enemy artillery, constantly monitor the mini-map, and also look for any good opportunity to fire another shot.
History of creation
The SU-100 was designed on the basis of the T-34-85 medium tank of the Ural Mash Plant design bureau in 1943 - 1944, as a further evolution of the SU-85 self-propelled guns, which could not effectively fight German heavy tanks. The SU-100 was serially produced until the beginning of 1948. Then, in 1951-1956, under Soviet license, the SU-100 was produced in Czechoslovakia. The SU-100 was modernized more than once after the end of the war, and it served for a long time in the armed forces of the Union. It was imported by the allies of the USSR and used during military conflicts.
The 100-mm D-10 cannon, 122-mm D-25 cannon and 152-mm D-15 howitzer were considered in the fall of 1943 for installation on the SU-85, which imposed a number of restrictions on weight, dimensions and recoil length.
Installations of 152 mm and 122 mm overloaded the machine. The calculations made showed that the best option is a caliber of 100 mm or close to it. It was decided to create an SPG based on the T-34 tank and equip it with a 100-mm S-34 cannon designed by TsAKB. Why not D-10? TsAKB wanted to take revenge for the obviously unsuccessful previous artillery systems, which it created for tanks and self-propelled guns. The D-10S and D-5S guns had similar dimensions; the D-10S fit well into the SU hull. Therefore, minor modifications were needed. The first prototype of a 100-mm self-propelled gun passed factory tests at the end of February 1944. The VC came to the conclusion that the 100-mm SU, equipped with the D-10S gun, should be adopted by the Red Army under the name SU-100, but with a number of modifications and improvements.
It was proposed to install an electric trigger lock, which would eliminate spontaneous shots; make the commander’s workplace more comfortable; improve the gun mounting and ventilation of the fighting compartment; better secure ammunition; replace the engine crankshaft with aviation oil; change the design of hatch and cover locks.
The improved SU-100 has been tested. During shooting at captured tanks and control systems, it showed excellent results. It hit Tigers, Panthers and Ferdinands with an excellent level of damage. The SU-100 penetrated the frontal armor of the first two tanks, but this effect could not be achieved with an armored German self-propelled gun.
By Decree of the State Defense Committee No. 1631 of July 3, 1944, the SU-100 self-propelled gun was put into service. In production, 72% of the parts were borrowed from the T-34, about 4% from the SU-122, 7.5% from the SU-85, and only 16.5% of the parts were created anew. But not everything was perfect. The hulls and chassis were produced without delays, but the D-10S guns were delayed. To save time, 85-mm D-5S cannons began to be installed in the SU-100 hulls, and the resulting “hybrids” were named SU-85M. The 85 received enhanced armor and the ability to carry increased ammunition, now consisting of 60 rounds. Assembly of the SU-100 and SU-85M proceeded simultaneously from July to August 1944, then UZTM switched to producing only “hundredths”.
The last time the SU-100 was used was in Afghanistan. Self-propelled guns did not enter into open clashes with the Mujahideen, operating at a distance. The SU-100 did not need powerful armor protection and they operated until the mid-1980s, then they were given to the Afghan armed forces. Without spare parts and maintenance, the SU-100 fell into disrepair and was sold for scrap. In the USSR, the SU-100 was listed as a combat vehicle until 1968. The reason for such a long service life of the self-propelled gun was the successful design of the gun and its remarkable performance characteristics. Their service was cheap. Step by step, the SU-100 began to be transferred to storage.
Tactics
The tactics of playing on the SU-100M1 are the same as the tactics of playing on the classic tank destroyer. Considering our poor armor (you shouldn’t count on the angles, even though they exist), it’s not worth throwing yourself into a vigorous tank chopper. And to conduct a “bush war” we have everything (except for the view, which I recommend enhancing with a stereo tube) - a fast-firing and accurate weapon, with fast aiming (which eliminates small UGNs), as well as a low silhouette and small dimensions. Excellent dynamics and maximum speed will greatly help us in occupying key PT positions, as well as during a change of location (assistance on the other flank, knocking down a capture or capture). Close combat is something to be careful of. Even with such a good turning speed in place, it will not be difficult for some frisky ST or LT to carousel us. Therefore, always analyze the situation on the game map and take into account the fact that you need to keep your distance. At the first sign of danger, you should immediately change position. By adhering to these simple rules, you can make life much easier for your car and yourself.
